I'd RP with them whilst communicating OOC the situation of your character. Agree to talk less about politics (none if you can manage it, otherwise esoteric references) and focus more on the bond you created or the relationship you have with the other player characters. The time bubble should remain intact and I find it works quite nicely. The relationship and bonds, new or old, between characters is the focus.

Finding RP that fits with your character can take time and often ranges from painless to frustrating. To ease your search on the RPC we'll be looking at the Linkshell Hall forum regularly and doing a sweep to keep it clean and up to date. What we've noticed: Many linkshellls and free companies have left the game, ended operations, or otherwise faded away. While it's always a sad thing when this happens, what's more sad is when an RPer sees a LS or FC that'd really fit their character, only to find that the group no longer exists (or no longer exists in the form in the LS Hall). Our course of action: 1. We will look for any group in the Linkshell Hall that doesn't post at least once per 60 days/2 months on its thread. Note: The post doesn't have to be from the leader. Anyone in the group can post (indicated by user profile, signature, or in the post's text). The content can be anything you like, so long as it confirms that the group is still active. Use the activity requirement to: a) Update prospective members on your current plots, b) Give membership numbers, c) Signal recruitment status, policies, d) etc. Edits to the main post do not count as activity. 2. We will begin marking as inactive and moving it to its Chronicles sub forum if no monthly post exists in the thread. 3. Cleaning will occur on or around the first of the month on a 60 days/2 month cycle. Still here but forgot to stay active? You'll need to PM a staff member to get it moved back. One of the first I ever met and RP'ed with, as well as one of my most favourite characters, is infact a Lalafell. Smart, cheeky, with heart, even has had lots of admirers/bfs/gfs/romantic interests... it's the person behind the character. That set a lot in terms of my expectations on future Lalafells and it only takes one to change the views of many. I think do not doubt yourself and see it as a hindrance. If some people choose to stick blinders on, basing or make decisions on what they see or want to see, you can't stop them. All characters have a complexity to them and it's more about the person/s you're RP'ing with to have fun and discover that with you.

A local gardener of Gridania yesterday unearthed an old book well-preserved dating back to the time of the Allagan Empire. The book was discovered while he was uprooting flora under a tree to plant spring blooms. When interviewed, he had the following to say: “I knew right away it was something special. It was covered in a thick leather placed inside this ornate metal container.” The unidentified metal is now being analysed by experts as is the diary. The Historical Society of Ancient Texts and Scriptures has since come back with some enlightening answers on the contents of the book. Parts of the ancient writing were deciphered and found to be a diary, in fact, written by a young man out at sea describing life and daily activities to his beloved. We have not found anything so detailed, much less extraordinary, on an account of seafaring life during this time. Hiya, I’m Sorcini. I'm amongst the more new members of this forum so I shall try to give a bit of myself as best as I'm able. Like all of you here, I enjoy role playing. My RP experience has been limited to pen and paper D&D 3.5e and 4e before realising I could actually find RP in a gaming community such as FFXIV. And, after finding RP in this environment the passion hit like a truck. I’ve been playing FFXIV since about 2.3 or 2.4, when a friend that I raided with in Wow said he was having great fun in this game. I started it for the story and stayed for the end game raiding challenges. Now though, after RPing for 2-3 months here, I split my time between RP (which I adore) and raiding (with people that twitch stream our crazy mistakes for all the world to see. Eeek! Did I do that? *blush*). When I’m not doing these things I’m girling out, nerding out, or hanging out. I like sci-fi and all manor of things that make you think beyond normal conventionalism. I’m part of the EU community so while my time difference doesn’t help, I’m still getting to know a fair many of you and enjoying it immensely. As a mod for this community, I will do my best to help or else tie up a vet mod and throw them at your feet. Cheers!

During a masquerade ball held last sennight, on the 18th Sun of this moon, a man was found dead in the upper levels of the manse, his mask removed and his face frozen in what appears to be a painful seizure. Investigators had kept the occurrence tightly sealed in the hands of Ishgard’s forces lest public backlash occur against the hosting city-state. Reports now reveal the man to be an Elezen belonging to a minor noble house. Body exhumation revealed a sheen of bloody sweat and black markings with death occurring within the hour of coming into contact with something foul. The person having found the body lamented it was death’s ire, come to admonish us for our sins. I. Basic Info Characters: Synerva Devereux Primary character: See above Linkshells: Smokescreen Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Heavy. I prefer more plot driven long term story arcs and character development. I totally love exploring the psychology behind why our characters do something. Saying that, I actually giggle quite a bit behind the screen when engaged in light RP. I guess anything at the end of the day is fun when it comes down to it. But yes, RP over PvE any and every time when I’m on my character. So send a tell if you see me. Views on RP combat and injuries: Being new to RPing in game, I find it fascinating to look at a skill and figure out what sorts of descriptors to use for combat scenes. It also adds to conflicts and character growth so yes, by all means. I prefer /random if a character wants to do something extra special, at the same time I don’t mind if it’s RP’ed out. As long as there’s the appreciation that one character doesn’t have godlike abilities over the other, I’m good. Combat injuries come with the territory and lasting injuries can be discussed OOC. Views on IC romance: Sure, why not, if there’s actually a natural spark between two characters. I believe this isn’t something you can plan though. Like my first time playing a cRPG that I had no idea had a romance arc, I didn’t know what was going on and it lead to a very different kind of character than the one I set out playing. I think it definitely earns its respected position in terms of character development. (In hindsight, I think I wrote my character a little too tough to crack but she does have feelings. Just that if anything were to happen well... he should probably bring a gun to the knife fight. ) Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): For me, relationships of any kind leads to a richer developed character. I definitely could use more ties- cousins/distant relatives, rivals, frienemies, business partners, etc. My character’s family is actually in its final stages of being fleshed out with another player’s character. Due to her background as well, certain races need to remain intact in her family tree but if anything, let’s see what we can work out. Views on lore: I personally like emersion so when lore is broken, it sort of breaks my suspension of disbelief of the world I’m in. I’m no lore expert though (Yes, I skipped through a ton of text- and now regret it!). I’m flexible where we *have* to make educated guesses or fill in the blanks. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): The usual IC chats and OOC brackets. Party chat and /linkshell seems good for locations that have a lot of chatter. III.
