Ah, I see but I'm not sure if she would feel at home there. Her tribe is pretty different from the other ones and she doesn't know much if anything about them, after all.

Yitani Arulaq, the woman who this is about, already has a few friends but there is always the opportunity for more and/or different connections - like a story she stumbles into or maybe someone who can grant her the job she is looking for. http://fs5.directupload.net/images/170502/zz7meeqf.jpg[/img] Yitani can be a bit dumb and naive sometimes but this also makes her kinda cute. She is in high spirits most of the time and really likes to listen in on other people's conversations in the Quicksand (that's not eavesdropping her eyes) and to watch them - or just talk to them herself. People that hate the ones that seem happy a lot of the time should better not come near her - she can be pretty loud and is sometimes a bit TOO excited, especially when she learns something new. She doesn't know a lot about the world, after all. The woman herself hails from the Arulaq tribe which was thought to be extinct for 200 years until they were rediscovered recently. This (probably) means they were quite isolated and know nothing about the outside world which is why Yitani is so clueless about a lot of things and why she doesn't understand sayings and the like (her being a bit dumb comes from that). Her mother, who belonged to the Kha tribe before she found the Arulaqs (before they were rediscovered by the world), was not allowed to leave after finding them so that she couldn't tell others about them. She was something like a glamour prisoner who was treated well enough but still wasn't allowed to leave. A lot of things changed for her, though, when she met the man that would become her husband and Yitani's father. The rest is history (and pretty soapy). Yitani's mother was the one who told her about the rest of the world and teached her things like the language and writing. This also sparked her huge interest in the world and was the reason why she left the tribe, as careless as that seems. She is often around her sister Atrani but also her own person (all the friends she made until now she made completely alone) and has her own life. Connections that could work: Anyone who likes someone like her can work as a friend - she is pretty social She is starting her own hostess club with someone - so, someone who talks and entertains customers but without dirty stuff. No kissing, sleeping or anything like that (she is pretty innocent), only completely harmless things, especially talking and listening or eating or playing together. If you are interested in joining later, just ask me PM A storyline she can be part of. I'm not sure I could pull off a whole story with continuation and stuff myself but I would totally be willing to be part of one. Doesn't matter if as one of the more important or minor characters (I will only play her as her, though) If you have a certain idea yourself, don't be afraid to ask, especially if you need someone for something. I'm pretty flexible with her

Wouldn't it be a good way if you have your own world and say "Yes, the people are actually as strong as they are in the battles"? There could still be ways how someone can die in cutscenes, like being attacked by dozens of attacks from all directions at the same time or in other ways. Altough that wouldn't work with Earth as the place.

Unless they were twins I think it would be pretty unlikely that A'ri would have a bio-sis... And even that would be a stretch considering they didn't end up together with the same family. I don't think it would be hard to find a reason why they were seperated (I'm good at improvising stuff like that :'D) or cousins could also work.

Now that I'm finally on Balmung, I hope it's not a problem if I post here again - the last one was pretty lackluster and I want to do a proper introduction this time. So, the name's Gota, a 24 year old guy from Hamburg (I moved here last week), Germany. If you see someone called this or TrueGota it's probably me (although you shouldn't count on it). I mostly like to play games, read mangas, watch YouTube or - you guessed it - to RP. Ah yeah, and I was a cosplayer and are currently trying to get back into shape to start it again. I was the admin of a lot of RPs a few years ago and stopped for a while but now I'm trying to build up my own RP forum (just began that a few hours ago) and if you got any tips to share, be my guest. (This forum here is really amazingly made) I'm also the leader, game designer and main writer of a pretty new Indie-team although we didn't produce anything yet and don't really have all the people we need (it could be better, yes). My biggest strengths in writing are worldbuilding and making characters as well as story lines - at least that's what I guess and what my friends tell me. Although I'm usually a lot better at making characters when it's inside the world I made myself I'll still try to do my best in Hydaelyn while being a newbie when it comes to MMO-RPing, so I'll need some time to adjust to it. A'zaza was also adopted and took the surname of her Hyuran parents but they at least knew that she already had a first name so they kept it which is why she has a Miqo'te first name and Hyuran surname. Glad to know that's possible without problems.

Altough it's one of my favourite series Yakuza is one of the biggest offenders when it comes to this. In the battles you can take dozens of bullets, sword slashes, punches etc but in the cutscenes ONE guy with a gun (and you sometimes fight like 5 people with guns at the same time) is suddenly the biggest threat ever and characters die with just a few shots while you beat them up for minutes (or shoot them a ton of times) in the battles - and there is no magic at all. It's like the battles and cutscenes are two different worlds and I think that's not good at all because it destroys immersivity. (The battles are still badass as hell, though)

So, after playing a lot of FF14 recently and being absorbed into its world I wondered what things you should include and think about in a fictional world. I've been worling on one for quite some time now although I kinda restarted everything and began anew, there are still a lot of things implemented already, though (like the world map and races and stuff). What I wanted to say - what do you think is it that a world needs to feel complete and immersive? You could stretch the question however you like.

Are there research topics that are "forbidden"? Like, something that is considered illegal or just too dangerous to mess around with. For example, I could imagine the void could be such a topic and become dangerous if you delve into it too deep. It doesn't have to be just one example, everything helps.

A'zaza's Hyuran adoptive parents are part of Ul'dahns nobility and own an airship company (if that's possible), hence their surname Skywright. The woman herself doesn't care about the company and is more of a researcher/mage but there could still be some connections because of her parents.

Would Zaza be a good connection? (Or another one of my characters if you look at my thread) She could have some kind of deal with groups like that regarding her forbidden experiments which I didn't specify yet because I don't want to conflict with the lore. I would ask others what is possible regarding them.

Maybe A'zaza could join in after I transfered to Balmung. She's a Miqo'te as well and the daughter of an Ul'dahnian aristocrat who leads a double life (her, not her parents altough they could have secrets, too), being the well-behaved fine lady on the outside but a macabre researcher doing forbidden experiments on the inside. Crazy idea but maybe she could be a biological sibling of A'riali which was also adopted - but by a different family of Hyuran nobles that can't have their own children. This would mean the two of them probably don't even know of each other at first. (I hope it's not a problem if she has purple hair, although I know it from my own brother that siblings don't have to have the same hair colour )

Pretty solid backstory, nice work. Maybe my Guimeaux, Albrecht or Zaza were a good idea. Guimeaux is a scholar that mostly lived by himself, Albrecht is a weak willed healer who wants to become stronger and braver while Zaza is more on the darker side.

I'm currently on Phoenix and wouldn't mind to meet someone there but I plan to transfer to Balmung when I have the chance.
