So after finishing Heavensward I fell totally in love with Ishgard and ended up with an Ishgardian lady as my RP main. Here's a little portrait of her. c:

Been FOREVER since I've done some FFXIV art. School's kept me working strictly on the weekends and don't get too many FFXIV commissions. This one was a total joy to work on! A client's Sharlayan Astrologian.

I draw mine stemming from where the ear canal generally is and if they're big wide boys they might extend into the jaw and temple. At least for the root of it. Can go crazy with curves and swirls and all that leading away - I don't stick terribly close to in-game models when I draw because something something creative liberties something something AESTHETIC. I've seen people draw Au Ra with multiple horns even and know some hairstyles give you additional nubbins so I don't quite know how that works with the horn=ear thing. Maybe just built up scales?

I. Basic Info Characters: Sayuri Tsumikusa Primary character: Sayuri Tsumikusa Linkshells: N/A Primary RP linkshell: N/A II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Right now I'm focused on hitting level cap so uh, kind of none for just right now but when I start RPing - I generally hover around light/medium. I have a group of friends I like to do game content with and am pretty busy with RL stuff so for the moment I can't be RPing for all of my free time every day. I'm fine with Skype/Discord RP to make up for this though! I'm a little anxious about stuff so having a date/time planned out first is really preferable for me. That way I can make sure I have an hour or two set aside. Views on RP combat and injuries: I like putting my characters through hell and soaking up all that delicious angst. I don't mind freeform combat with people I can trust to be reasonable. Injuries are welcome - bring on the bruises and cuts - but long-term or permanent injuries are something I'd like to communicate about ahead of time. Roll combat is also absolutely welcome. My character in FF14 isn't a really heavy combatant, though, so it's likely I'll have her get stomped or try to have her escape rather than fight. Views on IC romance: Has to develop naturally, and with my personal taste over a loooong period of time and with a ton of will-they-won't-they. If you're actively searching for a romance for your character I'm probably not your lady. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Yes please! Sayuri still has family in Othard so any one who wants to give their Raen a cousin or something is welcome to send me a message to see if we can work something out. Friends, coworkers, enemies - all are welcome! Views on lore: I'm playing Final Fantasy, so I'd like things to feel Final Fantasy. I am incredibly new to the world, however - so I might make a few mistakes and welcome correction. In all games I've RPed in, though - I stick pretty close to lore. I don't hold others to quite as strict standards as I hold myself - just be sensible and we're cool. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I use /say and emote for IC or party chat/tells if there's an event going on and things are super crowded and likely to have posts lost in the chatter. Haven't got a linkshell yet so totally unfamiliar with that mechanic but from what I gather I'm probably cool with RP over that too. III. I received poor treatment on my female characters from other female characters, but it always felt like it was more OOC crap THROUGH their characters than the characters, themselves. Playing male characters, almost all of the attention I get is positive. My male characters are generally widely liked - which is a relief because I do prefer to play them. >.> So far, every interaction I've had with OOC men due to RP has been pleasant. I have a couple of close friends who are males, and who know I play a male character (and one of them actually has a female who is in love with one of my male characters, ha). It's all about maturity in the end. Everyone I'm surrounded by is pretty mature, so the drama of old is thankfully very rare. I've found that while on regular servers the male population can outnumber the female population, when it comes to RP servers it almost feels like the majority is female. Before I figured out red flags and hung out with reasonable people I noticed that there seems to be an idea of competition with some female players going on - kind of an extension of the IRL occurrence. When you've got people who are girls RPing girls and want an IC (maybe OOC too) relationship with a male character played by a male player stuff gets CRAZY - even moreso when the guys are limited. Then you get the flipside on non RP servers with dudes falling over themselves for a female raider. :V Common ground with both is just immaturity, yeah. I haven't gotten any drama from any other players regardless of gender since I've gotten some good people to hang out with. I don't really think it's down to your character in the end or your gender or whatever - just being around nice people. The prevalence of forums like this helps, too, I think - people are able to see how much a negative attitude robs them of.

As someone whose crack is the will-they-won't-they, I couldn't really go for the predetermined romantic RP myself - but having had friends who swear by it I definitely understand the reasons why. Most of them have been pretty much covered in this thread. There's a lot of people out there who're looking for an IRL romantic partner and using RP as an excuse, there's people who are very possessive when it comes to RP partners that have a romance with their character - there's a laundry list of worries that, while applicable to all RP seem to get amped up when romance is involved. Not only that, but it ensures you have someone on the same footing as you for personal boundaries in RP. You're more free to explore the unpleasant aspects of relationships in your RP without worrying about your partner taking it personally or panicking - someone in this thread brought up dysfunctional relationships, and I feel like those are things that preplanning is made for. Same with nontraditional/non 'vanilla' relationships. You don't really lose out on the fun of starting a relationship, either, depending on your partner. Maybe the characters go a way you weren't expecting, maybe things end up really rocky at the start. Who knows! It's not my cup of tea - but I usually have a very small circle of friends I'd be cool shipping characters with as it is. People who are brave enough to do it with acquaintances have my respect and also worry, lol.

yes hello i am new and this is all v confusing help pls I've got a very rough idea of what I want to do with my character and a few questions that'll clear up precisely what I want to do with her/where she'll go, so imma just blarf them all out here. I've JUST started on Heavensward so some of these might be answered later on in the expansion or in Stormblood, my apologies if that's the case and these are annoying or I've messed up names. Trying to avoid spoilers also makes hunting for lore difficult. How much of Raen territory have the Garleans taken over? All of it? How many Raen have fled for western shores? Did they all hop in a boat/series of boats/the back of very large turtles at once or were there scattered refugees? From peeking at Raen naming conventions, nobility's family names are taken from feats of war that had earned them their noble rank, right? Is that a strict rule, or could roles that offered support in war also earn noble status? What locations could Raen refugees have landed at? Or was it all just the group with Yugiri? Were Raen in Doma at the time it got razed? How are Raen treated by the other races? I've read somewhere that Ishgardians might not like them much due to the dragon like appearance. The character concept I have and the reason I'm asking these questions is this: Female Raen Au Ra from a family specialising in herbal medicine. Has a demeanour that, if not coming from nobility suggests a very traditional upbringing. Fled for the west once the Garleans started messing up some fools, through either her ship capsizing or some other event she ends up stranded on some foreign shore alone and far from any of her people. Cue Bear Grylls adventures or something. As you can see, pretty rough, looking to flesh it out some and cut out bits that don't make sense. Thank you all in advance for your time and patience!

Hey I've got username and character name twins! (i'm happy to be referred to as sixxers if there is confusion in future) @Wemrys - Square needs to make it easier for everyone to move to a server that I can make characters on, it's so disheartening to see so many neat characters and events only for it to be on Balmung. I dunno if there's cross realm play though so maybe I'm being a giant baby for no reason. ay i got around to posting here tho @SafetyGoggles - TWIN LILIES YES. My Raen is actually legitimately a herbalist plant lover so name is pretty literal. :V Hope to bump into you! Ideally not when I'm stuck in embarrassing levelling gear. @Gegenji - Redraw is great, I just wish it wasn't whisked away from me half the time I do a level roulette. Really encouraging to hear that they're some great healers, though - I wondered at how the psuedo-random nature of the class played into endgame/progression content. I did grab WHM to start with so I'll always have that on the backburner. The Spire can still go kick rocks tho. Got it 3 times in a row once. :\

I mostly stick to RPing female characters which happen to match my gender, but I've RPed male characters and ones where their gender isn't clear to most people I've RPed with. I think most of my deal is that I really like drawing ladies. I've never really had problems RPing the opposite gender believably - maybe it's because I don't go for hyper-masculine characters or maybe I have a gender neutral way of typing. lolidk Anecdotally, I've found that I don't really get too many creeps trying to fish for ERP or ship RP that they think applies OOCly too. I don't know if it's because my characters tend to be boring or not conventionally attractive but I'm happy to be free of the horror stories many people have. Along with everyone else I don't really care who RPs what. I ain't gonna yell at people for what they do in their free time. Honestly, it annoys me more when people don't own their stuff. If you find girl on girl/guy on guy hot, that's fine. Be respectful in your portrayals and if you're gonna ERP all day just don't make me bear witness with my unconsenting eyes. >:C

Hi! I'm Six and I like to art. Also RP, but I've been a little shy in being able to actually get into things as of late. Been lurking here the past month and decided it was time to make an account! After years of going "EW WEEB STUFF" I finally tried out the game and immediately ate my words. I've read up a little on lore specific to my character but am still incredibly new and currently starting on Heavensward's content. I've an Au Ra Raen as my main and like to heal via Yugioh. While I'm a n00b when it comes to FF14 lore, I've played my fair share of MMOs (WoW, SWTOR, ESO), some as a heavy RPer, some as a heavy PvPer, some as a heavy raider - if not all three. Nevertheless FF14 is a different beast and I'm still learning some of the ropes and crying over AST card RNG. You guys have an awesome little community here and some really great resources so you will probably see more of me, if only art thread posts. I'll get over my social anxiety one day. :V
