I've been rping as a white mage. From an IC standpoint, my char acquired the soul gem of a white mage teacher back when white and black mages were super popular, and learned from it. She has since become an Elementalist, using both conjurer elements, and thaumaturge elements, with still heavy leaning towards white magic.

Searching The Sagolii(Looking for the K tribe)
Kailia replied to Xha'li Moui's topic in Town Square (IC)
http://i.imgur.com/xRsEovI.png[/img] K'hai walked through Sagolii, unsure where he would go at first. But decided, he had come all this way to return to the tribe, it would be an injustice to his journey to not at least see the tribe camp. Even as he climbed the sand dune, he thought of the tale K'ailia had told him. And it still angered him. And even his own sister's behavior had served much to confirm K'ailia's side. But still, he'd made this journey, he would see it to its end. As he reached the top of the dune, he saw a rider on a Coeurl... could it be he was already spotted? He stood at the top of the dune, waiting on the rider. But he also looked beyond the rider, and saw the camp. It was much smaller than when he had left. Many must had died in the calamity. -
I'd been wondering if FFXIV would ever get that kind of emotes, such as carrying someone, hugging someone, taking someone's hand, or even sharing a mount. I guessed it wasn't possible due to the different races and heights, so I'm surprised (and very excited) to know that they're actually considering it! I believe it has to be limited, though. I doubt lalafells can carry anyone, even less a Roe. I just imagined a lalafell carrying a giant roe on his shoulders and now I can't stop laughing

http://www.reddit.com/r/ffxiv/comments/240ty3/frontlines_new_classes_new_summoner_pets_new/ Whoa! Now that is pretty sweet. Other MMO companies only release new classes for expansions. This could be crazy fun and even an IC weakling like my char could handle shooting a gun, which aint as hard as a bow lol Hmm, now that line actually has me curious what it is lol. Oh sweetness! I love this bit of info for summoners I never played FF11, but I do hope we can let guests into our personal rooms. And I hope the rooms are at least the size of a small house's main floor or even the size of a small house's basement. Watching a video talking about this stuff on youtube, the guy mentioned that personal rooms would come before personal housing, so most likely personal rooms in 2.3, personal housing after, maybe 2.4 or 2.5. As long as we can let guests into our rooms, I will be happy. Here's the video I mentioned: _BfX6X_0-tY

What I did for my character was went the conjurer direction. In Conjurer, you to wield the elements and utilize the aether from the environment itself. Well fire, thunder and ice, are basically an element themselves. So I had my character go the elementalist direction to learn the thaumaturge spells IC, without even approaching the thaumaturge guild. So while Sage/Red Mage might not be doable right now, an elementalist style can be done IC. Because as you said, the two schools don't really see eye to eye on how to utilize aether. The only spell group my character doesn't have IC, is the actual black magic itself as a black mage. But there's very few black magic spells anyways.

Since you love rift SOOOO much, and hate Square Enix SOOO much, and your precious Rift is free to play, then go play it. Me, I love this game, I'm loving what I am seeing of 2.2. This glamour system is way freaking above WoW's transmog. How is it useless to you? I was level 50 before 2.1 even came out. I get the feeling you just hate to hate, that you don't like that this game is competing against free to play garbage games, and in my book, winning. Bottom line, getting insulting and flaming and bashing a game this site is based around and always yammering on about a game that has 0 relations with FFXIV is in poor taste.

I think some people are being way way too critical here. Since 2.1 leveling has been made super easy. You've got Daily roulette, which my paladin alt has gained 1 level a day from and in the 40's is beast tribe dailies. The end result is as you level up, your upgrade gear becomes obsolete and ends up either being converted to Materia, or sold to a vendor for a few gil, or kept as pieces of potential RP look. Also Dyes and Aethetician don't require complex magic. Glamours by it's very nature is magical, as you are putting the looks and dyes of 1 piece of gear, over your main equipment. Dyes requires no magic. Just pour the color juice on and done. Aethetician is an NPC who uses his own skills to do your styling. So really using Glamours any time before you got your first level 50, is rather pointless. Like it or hate it, Glamours is on its way. It's an end game reward that you earn after such a long journey from 1 to 50. And as you level your class see's every style of gear you can craft. For example with say White Mages and their chest slot items you will at some point or another have equipped for your main questing gear: Dalmatica Robe Halfrobe Cowl Gown Bliaud So as you level you will be able to find and equip and see various pieces of clothing and when you hit the magical level 50 and do the quest to unlock it, will have ready your chosen look for RP or whatever. Would I of loved to of had it open at level 15? Sure. But what would be the point? Every time I leveled up I'd have to reglamour the upgrade gear. Where as at level cap, I go real slow in getting upgrade gear. Overall, this system encourages and rewards people who level. This is Final Fantasy XIV. It's not Tera. It's not WoW. Though Yoshi did say ARR was inspired by how Blizzard did things with WoW early on. They are pumping out content way faster than WoW, their glamour system isn't as limiting as transmogrification was in WoW. In WoW, you could only do leather to leather, and even then there were restrictions. You could only use disenchantable items in that system. So many good looking white/grey gear people had that they enjoyed the looks of, and weren't allowed to use in transmogrifications. This Glamours system is innovative, and adds some interesting elements to the end game RP. Plate wearers will be able to make their plated armor look like cloth tunics, etc. Anything you physically see on the character is glamourable. Only real limitations is your current class has to be able to equip it, and the system unlocks at level 50. I can agree with those limitations. Hell I love the fact that if your wearing one of them cowls, you can glamour a robe over it that doesn't use the head slot. You still wont be allowed to wear a head slot item, but at least you got the robe look you want!
-
Here's my thoughts: I actually approve of the level 50 requirement. As you are leveling you shouldn't really be too concerned with glamours since you will be flying through gear regardless. And also, it's a nice reward for getting to 50. It says "Congratulations! You've reached the end goal! Here's a little vanity system to enjoy!" Now the "The base and projected items are of the same type." I am assuming means if the base item and projected item are for the head slot then they are glamourable". Considering nothing in this game is labeled plate, leather, cloth, I am assuming that is what it means.
-
This is actually incorrect if you are anything but a plate-wearer. Cloth-wearing classes/jobs will only be able to glamour cloth. Not quite true. There's a number of leather recipes that are for all classes. Granted there are fewer leather clothes one can wear, but we aren't limited to just cloth. I think the system is good though regardless. My character is a spell caster, she's not strong enough to wear the heavier armors. Light clothing is perfect for her. Again, I wish there were moccasins that casters could wear, however I did find some leather boots I will be glamouring for my adventuring outfit. The only restriction imposed, which I agree with, is "If you can equip it as your current class or job, then it is glamourable". It's a completely fair restriction. I knew when I decided K'ailia is nothing but a caster, that her outfits would have limitations. I can handle that.

Alright! So I am going to weigh in on what I see of this system and my thoughts. From the looks of it the prisms are a catalyst. Also note in one screenshot on the preview page, the dragoon is wearing armor that is repaired by armorers, and putting for glamour, an item that is repaired by leatherworkers. So the prism needed to do the glamour for that, has to be made by a leatherworker and rank 5 to work with the level 50 armor. This means, no white mages running around looking like paladins, and no paladins running around looking like black mages. I can live with it. Overall, this system is way way better than World of Warcraft's transmogrification system. That system, you could only mog leather to leather. And even then, you could only mog green or higher items. In this game, there is no such restrictions. You can glamour white, pink, green, blue, whatever color items, no limitations. And you can turn plate armor to look like leather or cloth. As long as your current class/job can equip the item, it is glamourable. It also has a restriction of gear slots. So if your chest item prevents you from wearing a head piece, then you can only glamour something that does the same. Overall, I love this system! I only wish there were moccasins wearable by casters still available. There was 1 moccasins item that was any class, the weathered moccasins, but there's no way to get them now sadly. This game is not Tera, nor should it ever be Tera. If you love that system, great. But I for one am glad they are using a much more original system based off a system we already know, Melding. I've already got my adventuring outfit all picked out!

My character's mother was an unwanted bastard-child from the House Fortemps in Ishgard. It is a part of his backstory that I mention often IC but have never really explored because there were very few Ishgardian players when I started. My guy frequents Dragonhead and Gridania (where mom died and is entombed). If you would be willing I would really like to explore this part of his past more, and see where your story goes as it seems interesting. Care to walk the path together? I'd like that Has a lot of potential! Will do!

Status update: My Elezen has been escorted out of Coerthas by Byron. She's now safely in Gridania
-
So I got an Elezen now! http://i.imgur.com/KApr1YY.png[/img] And I got her backstory semi worked out, but I'd like some RP contacts to help out! Basically she's a young noble girl who has now run away from home, because she was to be given to one of the higher noble houses for political favor by her parents. Basically an arranged marriage. So she's run away and currently still in Coerthas, and I plan to have her flee to The Black Shroud but be injured along the way because of wolves. The main goal: Getting to Gridania and eventually making a new life for herself. Course being sheltered, she's in for some culture shock as well.

K'ailia put away her own pearl, then proceeded back through the tunnel. A little while later she arrived back in forgotten springs where she spoke with the chocobo handler and rented one of the chocobos for her trip. It was a short while later that she caught sight of her uncle K'hai and rode up behind him. After a brief talk, the two headed together to Byregot's Strike and there, waited.
-
K'ailia smiled and pulled out a second pearl, how would she get it to K'mih? Then it dawned on her. The two would have to meet halfway of sorts. "Take a little stroll out of the tribe camp and head for a place called Byregot's Strike. I will meet you there, along with someone special, if I can find him." she said, stuffing the second pearl back into her pocket she turned around and headed back the way she came. Perhaps she could find her uncle before he left.
-
"The elders said I could trade with the tribe if I wanted to, but I just would no longer be part of the tribe." K'ailia sighed, "But father did try making an offer for me to be able to live in the outsider world, yet remain part of the tribe. That offer was rejected though." K'ailia began pacing, "When the tribe makes its move, I'd like one of you to let me know ahead of time. The least I can do is organize my allies to keep the bad Amalj'aa distracted."
-
K'ailia's ears flattened. But her sisters deserved to know, "She was in trouble because she took me to see the elders so I might face their judgment. I had came back to the camp because I did not wish to be like the other exiles, to just run away with no explanations." She sighed, remembering the hell the elders put her through, "I guess K'nahli seeing and hearing why I was there thought I was right, and took me to the elders tent. The elders disapproved heavily." Shaking her head she looked to the pearl, "But I am sure she did not suffer as I was forced to. Course I don't know what she went through. Father took me out of the tent to talk for a bit. When we returned, she was already gone."
-
K'ailia smiled wide, "Aye! Course the tribe may be moving out to Eastern Thanalan. We'd be able to see each other more then! Because the place isn't too far away from a town called Drybone!" Thinking for a moment a broad smile came to her, "K'mih, how would you like one of these pearls of your own?"
-
K'ailia grinned wide, "Hello K'mih. I know it's been a while since we spoke." K'ailia looked up at the sky with a smile, perhaps of all the sisters, she could stay in touch with at least these two, it would be great. "I wont be able to return to the tribe... The elders have made their judgements clear." she said, "But there's nothing to say we can't stay in touch, maybe even see each other from time to time!"
-
K'ailia had just exited the other end of the tunnel when the pearl sounded off with K'tahjha's voice. She fished around her pockets and pulled it out, "Oh hey K'tahjha, sorry I didn't get to say goodbye. I didn't think it would be allowed." She smiled to herself and leaned against the canyon wall. Perhaps now, she could say her goodbyes without worry the other huntresses would kill her.

Ul'dah Garden's Valentione Ball and Fundraiser!
Kailia replied to Kailia's topic in Chronicled Events
Unfortunately this event never got off the ground. So we had to cancel because there was no one that came.
