K'ailia felt her father crushing the earth made message. But she paid him no attention. Her ears listened instead to K'takka. Hearing she may be done with her, that she knows neither peace nor silence, nor consideration but herself she knew was wrong. But it was clear the elders seem to think she thinks only of herself. Disobedience is disrespect... so that was what family was to the tribe? Absolute obedience? Now she understood why the elders were so angry. They were expecting from family, obedience only. She could not help but think back to the first argument she had with her mother. She was afraid the elders would choose to remain in Sagolii, to sentence the tribe to death. But before she could tell of how she felt like an outsider already within the tribe her mother had an explosion of anger. But soon after K'ile talked to her, as a friend, as an uncle would to a wayward niece. And she had decided she would not leave the tribe then, and she apologized to her mother, just as her mother apologized to her. She thought back to their stay in Eastern Thanalan, where she was left alone with nothing to do at their camp site. She'd taken trips then to Drybone, to the church. Beheld the suffering of the people. And she knew then, she wanted to help both her tribe and the outsiders. She had started to learn to read. Her intentions was, once they returned to the tribe, to offer to teach the tribe shamans conjury. To teach those who knew not how to read, how to do so. She had so much to offer. But seeing her mother's reaction to magic, to K'ile's statement that if she offered herself to learn to be a proper tribe mate, he'd force her to mate... The tribe was not ready. If her mother was that strongly afraid of magic, then teaching the shamans of the tribe would be pointless. Such magics is probably why she was treated as an outsider as it was. Other Miqo'te tribes have already integrated themselves into Eorzean cultures, because they were ready. Her branch of the tribe though, was not. But K'takka had given her hints if she was to speak, let alone walk. So she remained in there here, and now. She remained silent. They wanted her to remain silent for a long time. They wanted her to remain in place and do nothing the entire time. She now understood what K'takka wanted. So there she stayed. No tears. No anger. No magic, though she could still feel the powder irritating her lungs. But she needn't have physical magic to take care of that. The monk training she underwent from the Hyur she calls Big Brother showed her she could move her aether within her, or as he called it... her chakra, to repair the damage herself. So she remained still, listening to the elders while moving her aether to deal with the immediate problem. She would not die for the tribe. And should her father attempt to assault her further with the powder, she would be left with no recourse but the defend herself. But she would not attack. There are ways to keep ones self from harm, without attack. She would do as the elder has now instructed. Thus, she stayed still. Silent. Even if it took all night, the elder hinted she would eventually be allowed to speak, and move. There would be no more meditation. Her limits were reached. And she prayed to Azeyma that her father would attempt no further assaults.

K'takka's words broke through the anger. So this was a lesson? And yet, all she had thought of was her mother running. Of K'ile's actions towards her. But it all sunk in. All she thought of, was how they effected herself. She was selfish. A trait she shared with her mother. She was thinking of herself. Why did she return? What was the lesson she was to learn? She had ventured out on her own to learn. Yet here in the tribe, K'takka was trying to teach her something, and she could not see it. Still could not. What was the lesson then she was to learn? Being quiet? She was doing that. Using multiple techniques, and yet all considered cheating. What does she have to do to please the elders? What must she do? How can she find this out if she is now allowed to ask? If spoken words were not allowed... she closed her eyes and this time silently prayed to the earth. The sand that was not covered began to shift, and the words 'I am listening, please teach me' appeared.

She could feel her head being moved. Was she being finally let up? No... this was rough handling. She could hear her father's voice. How did he know she cleansed her nose and eyes? How did he know the state she had put herself in? Suddenly more powder was blown onto her face. But the moment he spoke of shoving her face into the powder, she immediately halted letting breath out, and closed her mouth and eyes tightly. She felt more powder thrown in her face. It was as thought they want her to burn her lungs. They had wanted her to be quiet, to stay calm. And they considered meditation cheating? If her father went through this punishment, could it be why he had become a cold, silent male? The images of Costa Del Sol had faded. Now, rage had taken over. So now her sister K'nahli would pay for bringing her to the elders. Perhaps taking K'ile's offer to come back to the tribe camp was a mistake. In fact she was sure enough days had passed that they would of arrived about the same time. Even if he could not find her mother, she thought for sure he'd return himself. Could his invitation of been a trap? A last moment way to get back at her for nearly taking his kit making abilities away? Her fists began to clench as her tail fuzzed out. They wanted her thoughts in the here and now, and to stay silent. So be it. But she would tolerate no more powder thrown in her face, lest they too, want it spread throughout the tent. So she stayed there, anger boiling. And the images of K'ile was at the root of that anger now. If that tia possessed any inkling of wisdom, he would come around her no more. She remembered the time she had her first dislike of that Tia, which began five years ago, when he grabbed her and shoved her to her mother, when all she wanted was the tribe shaman's help. He was the last to see K'piru that day. Could he of contributed to her leaving? Much like he had contributed to her own decision to do the same? And to think, he seemed to be at the root of her mothers anger too. He was playing with her emotions. She could almost bet on it. He was probably the one that led to all the breakdowns with her mother after he had gotten them back together that first time. What was his game? It matters not, her mind began putting pieces together, and all trails led back to K'ile Tia. And to fuel her rage, she took let out the breath she had held, then took in a swif deep breath, feeling the powder on her face pour into her nose and began to burn her nose, throat and lungs. Fueling the flames of hatred she now held for K'ile.

Darkness Consumes Even The Brightest Light (Short Story)
Kailia replied to Leanne Starlight's topic in Town Square (IC)
((Title is deceptive. That not short! Hehe but man what a good read! Good job Leanne!)) -
I play mine very cat like. When she gets angry or scared, her tail fuzzes up, she loves to climb, and so far her story hasn't had her purring. But if she ever did get that comfortable, yeah she probably would purr. The emotes square has given us, is perfect for her. Yes she does make the little pawing motion from time to time. She has even been known to chase small critters around like butterflies. If there's any form of catnip like plants in the game, she'd definitely have a reaction to it. So yes, K'ailia is very much cat-like in how I play her. Nashu and K'hai too.

Kailia's limbs began to flail as the powder is stirred up. A little of it entered her nose and quickly she halted all breathing as it began stinging her nose immediately. Even her eyes began to sting as the powder got into them. This was not a punishment? They would not hear her out? But then, hearing mention of conserving water she remembered. Everyone is made of water. Clenching her eyes closed further she began calming herself once more, and praying to the element of water. Within a matter of moments, the tears she had shed upon the fetish lifted silently and entered her nose, collecting the powder that stung her so. Powder too also washed out of her eyes before the water that was her tears settled back down upon the fetish. Her eyes still strung from having come in contact with the powder, but any potential damage that could of happened would now be averted. So they wanted her to be silent? Then that is what she would do. So until she was permitted to speak, she simply entered a deep meditation once more, slowing her breathing and even her heart rate down considerably, as she thought on happier times. Of the places she had been and seen... from Gridania and the Black Shroud, to La Noscea and Limsa Lominsa. She finally settled on the memory of the time she spent with Ul'Dah Garden in Costa Del Sol. And thus she layed there, completely still in an almost comatose meditation, focusing on Costa Del Sol, and the fun she had there, yet still being alert enough to respond if the elder decided to let her up.

"You have no right to cry. You made a decision. Face your consequences like an adult." That was the words the man who sired her said. But that was all he ever did for her. Was help bring her into the world. She knew nothing of who he was. He was even now, a complete mystery to her. And yet he talked about facing consequences like an adult. The tears stopped flowing, and anger set in. She wanted to scream out, that she had every right to cry. She was an outcast the moment she returned from Gridania. She knew nothing of her father, and doubted any of his children knew who he was personally. She was raised by a woman that runs away at the expense of her own health. Her tail begin moving with clear signs of anger. How much more could she take. But she knew the answer. She would take everything they would throw at her. Tilting her head downwards so her mouth was away from the powder, she finally spoke, "Unlike K'piru, K'haz, and even my own mother, I will not run from the consequences of my actions. Too many just run away. And if given the chance, I would tell you all just what happened on the scouting mission... everything..." She moved her face back to look at the fetish. She braced herself for whatever assault would come. But no further tears would come. She had now cried her last tears. Now, she would endure whatever designs they saw fit to inflict upon her. If it made her family happy to inflict humiliation or pain upon her for her actions, so be it.

K'hai trekked through the swampy area of the Footfalls, passing over bridge after bridge until he had finally come to the Sun Gate. Almost immediately dizziness washed over him. The reason became obvious once he made the climb up the steep tunnel and beheld Horizon with an Aetheryte in its center. "Must every town have one of them things?" he thought, as he proceeded through the town. But he did not stop. He continued on out the second Sun Gate into Western Thanalan. He followed that road for several days, till he reached Scorpion Crossing. Here, he found something of extreme use for him. Training dummies. So he stopped here to train a bit. And once he felt himself grow tired he put his Macuahuitl and little shield away and continued up The Eighty Sins of Sasamo, and he thought to himself, who was this Sasamo, and why did there have to be some eighty steps to reach the top? But alas, he had reached the top, to the city of Ul'dah. But there was something odd. He thought he sensed family having passed this way recently. Surely his nose was playing tricks on him? He shrugged it off, and proceeded into the city, a monstrously huge place that had structures that stretched so high into the sky, one would be lucky to see the sun. But as he stood there, he definitely caught the scent of family. Why would his family be in the city? He picked the first scent of the family out... K'ailia? That kit is here? He began following it, until he came to the lift attendant. "Did a little kit come by here? She'd have brownish hair and green eyes." he said the the attendant. "We do not let children onto the lift. However a young woman matching the description did pass through here." replied the attendant. "Mind if I go see if she is still here?" asked K'hai. The attendant opened the lift door, "Go right ahead, but I doubt it. She seemed in a hurry." K'hai stepped onto the lift, the door closed and suddenly the world under his feet moved, as if he was being shot into the air. "What foul magics could be happening here?!" he thought, before the lift came to a halt. He quickly bounded off of the lift and realized, the room was massive and appeared to be in the sky. But then he caught the scent once more, and followed it to the clerk's desk. "Excuse me, has a Miqo'te passed through here? She'd have brown hair and green eyes. Quite young actually." "Oh yes, we just put her on an airship bound for Sagolii. She said she'd be diving off so we did not have to stop there." replied the clerk. "Diving off?! Falling from the sky would kill someone!" shouted K'hai. "We told her that, but she said don't worry she wont get hurt. It was her gil to spend, so we agreed." replied the clerk. Showing up, the airship had returned, without its passenger. K'hai had missed his niece by several hours apparently. "Thank you for your time..." he said and turned back to the lift. It seemed there was only one way out of this place. So he walked over to the attendant and said he wanted to be back where he was. The attendant opened the door and once he was in closed it. Showing up, the world moved again, this time he felt like he was a falling rock. But then it came to a soft stop and he stepped out. One family member had left the city and headed home. It was time to distinguish the others. Taking a deep sniff, he discovered three. He identified them as K'piru, K'ile and K'luha. But the two strongest was K'ile and K'luha. He began following that trail, which led him into the Quicksand. Ignoring the innkeeper and the crowds, he proceeded into the back of the inn. Perhaps he will finally find answers.

K'ailia's tail fuzzed out as the fetish fetish was placed in front of her face, and in-took air just before the powder and bowl was placed over her head. She did not know what the powder was, but she held her breath, and listened to the instructions. So it was Drake Gland powder. Inhaling even a little bit, would be extremely undesirable, if not, could cause breathing complications. If she breathed out too far, the powder would fly up, possibly into her mouth, nose and eyes. If she inhaled too quickly, her nose, throat and lungs would pay the price. K'ailia closed her eyes, relaxed her body while keeping her breath held. The only way to ensure the powder remains where it is, is to breath so slow, that it neither lifts into the air, nor goes into her nose. One of the meditation states she had learned in Gridania should help with that she thought. Slowly, she released her breath through her nose, a little at a time, keeping her eyes closed, focusing on the breath. The rest of her body was no longer there. Only her breathing was all she focused on, trying to find the right meditative state. The first state, she could see the powder shift slightly. She focused on a deeper state, until finally it would seem to any other observer, that she had gone limp like death. Continuing focus on her breathing, she slowly opened her eyes to look at the fetish for a moment, taking in the bones shape, she closed her eyes once more and thought on the bones. The bones would give wisdom and calm the elder had said. This meant, from what she gathered, was that she was to reflect upon all her decisions she had made. To reflect upon her past, that led to the situation she was in now. And finally, the question came to her. What was important to her? She had came here after remembering her brothers and sisters. She was invited back here by K'ile, to serve as an outsider. Indeed she was, but even having left the tribe, her mother had brought her things, she had made her dorm as close to tribe life as she could. The tribe was important to her. Regardless of her tribe mates treating her as an outsider. Regardless of her mother constantly running away, and chucking things at her. Regardless of K'ile and his big mouth that started the whole mess to begin with. She still loved her tribe, but it still hurt that she was treated as an outsider before she even thought about leaving the tribe. And when K'ile got her and her mother back together, she had changed her mind of leaving the tribe, only to find herself feeling pushed away. She opened her eyes, as tears poured out onto the necklace, onto the powder. She had felt alone since returning to Gridania. Unappreciated. Useless. What good was learning conjury, if people like her mother would run away at the first sign of magical use? And most of all, what was she to do, now that she was thrust into leadership of Ul'dah Garden. She had no answers. She had made a bad decision out of anger and hurt, without ever really explaining her feelings. But truth be told, she never really had the chance. The moment she spoke to her mother the first time, the yelling and name calling had begun. So she stayed pinned under the bowl, her tears flowing across the fetish, as she did her best to maintain her breathing, even while thinking on all that. How long would she be forced to stay there? If she was to stay this way for a week, she knew she deserved it. The timid girl had grown into someone as violent and angry as her mother. And it was that violence and anger, that had put her in the position she was in now. But she still... had the desire to be with her family.
-
K'ailia listened to the elders speak. Upon hearing K'deiki say she could not imagine what sort of heart could do such a thing, she felt the tears run down her eyes. And without even thinking, uttered the words, "A hurt one..." before going silent once more. She had not meant to speak, but the words came out anyways. Was it a mistake to come back? What was she expecting? Regardless of her reckless decision to leave the tribe, she still very much loved her family. But so much had happened since her trials. Finally she leaned further over, planting her forehead into the mat she was sat upon, realizing her speaking was out of orders by K'takka. She braced herself for whatever assault that elder would inflict upon her. But she would not fight back.
-
K'ailia felt the bony knuckles against her neck forcer her head to bow. But she did not resist. Instead, she bowed her head, though it made her ears flatten for a moment before she returned them to a neutral position. But regardless, her mind still filled with questions. She could understand those banished from the tribe not being welcomed back. But why the ones who left of their own will? But more importantly was the questions of where was K'ile, and her mother. She took a deep breath and calmed her mind. Clearing it of all thoughts. She would remain submissive. She knew her place right this moment. Protesting would only get her ejected from the camp. She had no intention of protesting. She came to answer for her own actions.
-
K'ailia sat before the elders. She had expected this sort of reception. Especially given she had beaten K'ile back to the tribe camp. But she was not stupid. She listened to the words of K'jhanhi, but remained silent. What had her mother told them? Did she even tell them about what had led to the decision? These types of questions raced through her mind. She wanted to tell the elders everything, and then accept whatever judgment they placed upon her. Even if it means she'd be a permanent exile, she knew deep down, this was something she had to do. And so she sat, silent, ears in a neutral position, her tail wrapped around, resting on her lap. If they will give her a chance to explain her perspective, she will gladly accept it. If they decide to pass judgment without hearing her out, she would accept that as well. She had her suspicions on what she'd be coming into. But at least, she felt, she was at least doing the right thing in answering for her actions.
-
K'ailia followed silently but still holding herself in respect for her sisters... or rather former sisters from their language. K'ailia kept her eyes straight, as she was escorted by hand to the elders tent. Once there, she turned to K'nahli and bowed, "Thank you for this opportunity. I know I did wrong and that is why I am here, to face up to everything." With that she turned to the flap to the elders tent and pulled it aside and stepped in, letting her eyes adjust to the dark. But she proceeded no further, until the elders asked her to, but instead spoke, "Elders. I, K'ailia Yohko, have come to answer for all I have done, and to accept whatever judgment you wish to impose upon me. I promise to tell the absolute truth." She took a deep breath, to await the elders response.
-
K'ailia kept her hands raised, "I was invited to the camp by K'ile. I can tell he must not of arrived yet. I've come to answer for what I have done. I seek only an audience with the elders. Nothing more. If they wish to deny my request, I will understand and I will leave." She looked to each huntress for a moment then back to K'nahli, "I will remain outside the camp until I have an answer. I do not seek to walk in uninvited, regardless of K'ile's open invitation." With that, she took a few steps back and found a small mound of sand to sit upon. It would now be up to the elders if they would see her.

((Takes place after: This event)) A few hours after leaving K'piru's company, K'ailia returned to her dorm room where she planted her face into her pillow on the bedroll. She figured when K'ile was ready to go, along with her mother, they'd simply contact her via the linkpearl. That evening, no call came. Unable to sleep, K'ailia put on her white mage robes and went to the medical ward to study some healing texts. There really was little else to do. Garden was unusually quiet. But then she realized, it was extremely late. Suddenly her Garden pearl lit up, "Help..." followed by a thump before it went out. "Wait... that was Ventus...!!!" with that realization, K'ailia closed her books, grabbed the field kit she had assembled for her trip to visit the tribe and raced through the corridors of Garden, till finally she reached Ventus's room. Trying the handle, it was locked. "Damnit..." she thought and held her hand towards the door and from the ground, earth erupted, shattering the door into splinters much like that inn door she had destroyed trying to get to her mother to try to calm her down. On the other side, there layed Ventus, mask still covering his face. She bounded over to him in two steps and removed the mask. Unconscious. She felt for his pulse, it was faint. Quickly she activated the white magic into her right hand and did a quick scan. His mind had completely shut down, his body barely holding on. She worked the aether in his body to get him stabilized when two guards came racing into the room. "Don't just stand there, get a stretcher! We need to get him to the infirmary quickly!" she yelled. The men quickly rushed out of the room, and came back with a gurney and they raced Ventus to the medical ward. A few hours later, K'ailia had concluded she did all she could. Ventus was now in a coma, and not likely to come out of it. Unfortunately, because of the staffing situation, she was informed that because she holds the highest rank, she was now Headmaster of Garden. And just like that, her world was turned upside down. Here she was, a 16 year old girl, in charge of the entire academy. The next day, she looked through ventus's last set of notes and found a letter addressed to her. Meeting the man mentioned in the letter, she made promises that were soon after, reversed by Ventus's file clerk, and informed the promise was not one she should of made, as there are protocols to follow. But she was free to make other decisions. Thus she assembled the few people she trusted, and assigned them the rank of instructor. That evening, she fell into her bedroll, and breathed a sigh of relief. The day was finally over. As she closed her eyes though, her mind started wandering to all that had happened. Her arrival back to the tribe, the passing of her trials at last, the journey with K'ile, K'luha and K'haali. Then the last meeting with K'ile, where he had invited her to come to the tribe camp as an outsider. Something she had fully intended to do. K'ailia sat up and looked down at her feet. So many had left the tribe, or just disappeared. But none had the courtesy to inform the rest of the tribe why they were leaving. K'piru had come to mind. Did she really want to be like the others and just disappear? Looking up, at her dresser, there laying on top was her airship pass. Perhaps her mother and K'ile left without her? K'ailia had been invited back to the tribe camp by K'ile. Perhaps it was time to fess up and explain her actions to the elders. If they decide she should be banished from the tribe forever, she would accept that. If she's going to be as responsible as she told her mother, then running away was not something she'd do. Running away... it seemed her mother was getting good at that. K'piru had ran away, and from her last words to her, would continue to run away. Getting up, K'ailia dressed herself and tied the bandana around her head as usual. She picked up the airship pass and headed out. A few hours later, she was in the airship landing. It would be a somewhat dangerous trip, but the airship clerk agreed to do a fly over deep Sagolii, under the agreement, they would not stop for anything, that if she wanted off, she'd have to jump. Agreeing to that, K'ailia boarded the airship and it lurched forward, then back as it exited Ul'dah and headed south. Passing over the mountains, she soon caught glimpse of the Forgotten Springs. But even that passed by quickly. "Alright, whatever you are going to do, get ready to do it. We are almost to your destination." called the pilot. K'ailia tightened her bandana and stepped to the side of the airship. Below, she could see the familiar silhouette of the tribe camp, still some distance away, "We are here" "Right, thank you for the lift", and with that, K'ailia lept from the airship and began her prayer to the element of wind. Showing up, a large sand twister formed under her, slowing her fall and lowered her down to the ground. The tribe camp though was still a few hours away. But she was here. She looked up and the airship was already on its way back to Ul'dah. "No turning back now..." she said, as she began walking towards the tribe camp. Many things began racing through her mind. But none of them good. It would likely be the other tribe members would prevent her from entering the camp. Or with luck, maybe K'ile will be there to welcome her. But upon approaching the tribe camp, immediately huntresses rushed out with weapons drawn upon seeing her. She halted in her steps and put her hands up. "I've come to speak to the elders. I am prepared to answer for all I've done." she declared. Now she would wait to see what would happen.

http://i.imgur.com/xRsEovI.png[/img] 5 years ago The battle raged around him. He had lost sight of the rest of his tribe. But K'hai Tia could not worry about that. For there were Garleans all around them. Using his Macuahuitl, he continued slicing away at the enemy. The red moon over his head though began to stir violently. To his left though he saw a garlean rushing forward with a dagger and he turned, too late, the dagger ran down from his right eyebrow to his right cheek. Luckily he managed to pull back in time that his eye was left undamaged, but he had to keep it closed now because of the blood. He made that Garlean pay as only one of his muscular stature could, he grabbed the man by the throat and threw him at another charging Garlean. That was when the first big chunk of Dalamund fell, sending crystal, debri and stones flying everywhere in front of him. He felt many shards strike him, before the feeling something else wash over him. The world around him tilted as it erupted in fire before everything went black... 4 years later... Slowly he opened his eyes. Everything was blurry at first, slowly focusing... he was in a wood shelter of some sort. The air felt very humid, a feeling he had not ever felt before. "Oh you are awake?" called a woman's voice. He tried to sit up... but he couldn't move? All he managed was to turn his head towards the voice. There was a fair miqo'te girl, not much older than his sister K'luha. The woman stepped over to him with a smile, "You will probably not be able to move right away. You've been in a coma from Aether sickness for four years now." "Aether sickness?" he asked. The woman nodded, "We been tending to your body, trying to clear most of it out by purifying your body in the hot springs. Now that you are awake, I can help you get your muscles and body working again." K'hai smiled, "Thank you... are there... any others of my tribe here?" The woman shook her head, "You are the last of the survivors to recover. Now then, lets start getting you up shall we?" And so it was, each day was spent, trying to regain full use of his body. It was a hard time for him, for he had lost much of his muscle mass. But slowly over the course of the year, he began gaining some muscles back, as well as a bit of weight, since he had lost a lot from the 4 year sleep. Current year K'hai stretched, as he got out of bed. He had rebuilt most of what he'd lost, though he was not as muscled as he used to be. "So are you still leaving?" asked the maiden who had tended him. K'hai turned and smiled, "Yes, I've regained all my mobility, I am strong enough to make the journey. My tribe must think me dead. I must return to show them I am not." The woman nodded, "I figured as much..." She pulled from a pocket in her dress a ticket, "I bought you a ticket to board the ship in Limsa Lominsa. It will take you to Vesper Bay in Thanalan." K'hai stepped over to her and took the ticket then gave the woman a big hug, "Thank you for all you've done for me these past five years." The woman smiled, "Of course. And good luck." K'hai gathered the provisions he needed as well as his Macuahuitl and the flimsy wooden shield, the two items needing rebuilt since his originals were lost on the field of battle, and left Camp Bronze Lake, heading south. He chose not to rent a chocobo for this. For he intended to train himself as he traveled. His first night, was spent lifting and sitting down a large rock, chopping branches off a tree for firewood, and hunting and killing one of the raptors of the area. They were fierce creatures that breathed fire, much like the sun drakes of home. Minus of course, the horns and hard scales. Altogether it took him about a week and a half to reach Limsa Lominsa. This city was not what he had expected at all. So many outsiders, but then he remembered, he is the outsider here. As he traveled through the city, he even beheld the Aetheryte Crystal, which caused his dizziness to return. He'd been suffering from the occasional dizzy spell even while in Camp Bronze Lake. The woman that took care of him told him it was part of the aether sickness, that not all the sickness was gone from him. He'd have to go somewhere with less Aether to fully recover. Finally he made it to the dock where the ship is. Handing over his ticket, he stepped uneasily onto the deck of the ship as the water made it lurch this way and that. This was going to be a long trip... And indeed it was. He spent most of his time with his head hanging over the railing of the ship losing what meals he could try to get down. And the moment the ship docked in Vepser Bay, he bound past all the other passengers, and onto the street, knelt down and kissed the ground. "Never again will I get on one of them floating monstrosities!" he vowed as he stood up and looked around. This was Thanalan alright. Pulling his pouch of gil out he approached the nearest stand with food and equipment, and purchased food to last him a few days, as well as a bag to carry it all in, before he headed for the gates of Vesper Bay. He was finally on his way home...
-
Let me first start off that I aint a legacy player so some of the questions don't apply What kind of stories has your character gotten into? K'ailia finished her conjurer training and went back to the tribe, stopping along the way to Limsa Lominsa, then Ul'dah with her mother. While staying in Ul'dah, she ended up signing up for Ul'dah garden. Returning to the tribe she retook her trial of adulthood, completed it, and suggested the tribe move out of Sagolii desert, an idea that was shot down immediately. She took many aetheryte trips from the tribe to Ul'dah, and eventually found a white mage soul crystal in the Sunken Temple of Qarn, and began learning as a white mage, applying her knowledge of conjury to it. This got her promoted to Chief Medical Officer in Ul'dah Garden. The tribe then sent her and a scouting party to find a potential new home for the tribe, and things broke down from there. She ended up leaving the tribe, which effected her mother badly, and on top of that her mother was assaulted by Ventus who K'ailia learned a secret about afterwords and began a treatment for his condition, which soon after, he went into a coma making her the new Headmaster. How has your character changed since the game re-launch? She's become an independent young woman who has now set out on her own as a white mage, in hopes of securing lasting peace for her tribe. What has been your favorite RP moment so far? I think my favorite RP moment was when she along with the rest of Ul'Dah Garden relaxed on the beach of Costa Del Sol, when everyone was getting their swim suits What was the most shocking RP moment this year? K'ailia suddenly being put in the headmaster position of Ul'dah Garden. I did not see that coming, not even from an OOC perspective. What was the most surprising thing you found out about your character? While she loved her tribe, and I was not expecting her story to develop to her leaving the tribe. What relationships did your character build? She ended up building relationships with a couple Keepers of the Moon, and a number of outsiders, but still ended up having a negative relationship to a tribemate that keeps fluctuating between negative and positive. What are you looking most forward to seeing in the future with your characters growth and story? I think what I am most looking forward to is her moving to Limsa Lominsa. And hopefully next year, maybe she will consider reconnecting to her old tribe once things settled down.

Thanks for the ideas! I think I now got a working character now. Gonna go with wealthy family, she saw very little of her parents when she was born, was raised mostly by a nanny. Parents got her a tutor to teach her the basics (Reading, writing, music and needlework) and later archery. Parents died because of the calamity, and she wants to now see the world, because she's been pent up in her estates for most of her life. So she will be in for some cultural shock for sure, but she also will be impressionable. Also decided to de-age her to 20 instead of 27.

Okay so, I decided I'd like to play an elezen. I've rolled one, did the few quests around Gridania and got her to level 5, even sent her some basic clothing. But I am having trouble finding a right personality/history for her. So I'd like help developing her. First, here's a pic of her: http://i.imgur.com/KcpOtYf.png[/img] And a working history right now which is very very plain: Year 1550 - Yaelle's Birth Year Year 1562 - Yaelle begins training with the bow. Year 1572 - The Calamity Happens. Year 1575 - Yaelle joins the Archer's Guild officially. Year 1577 - Current Timeline. Yaelle is 27 So I got basically a skeleton of the character worked out. But I've never played an Elezen before, so I'd love any help with her personality and/or history you guys are willing to give

http://i.imgur.com/E5DCpMS.png[/img] It all began when he was twelve. He'd been out exploring the volcano near his home in Abalatia's Spine. There were many volcano's but this one was his personal playground. It wasn't active of course but it did have the comforting warmth his kind so enjoyed. Today, he was to learn to wield the Axe, a skill his family practiced for many generations. And his parents and brother would be waiting at the top for him. Upon arriving though, he beheld a scene that would haunt him to this very day. His elder brother was arguing with their father and mother. Something trivial no doubt, when suddenly his brother pulled out his axe to their father's shock and beheaded their mother who was trying to calm the two down. His father pulled his axe, but it was too late. His brother was on him in a matter of seconds, chopping into his father's chest repeatedly. Towering Flame quickly hid within a crevice, before he could be spotted, and his brother turned and left the scene. Once he was gone Towering Flame stepped out and weeped over the bodies of his parents. That is until his uncle came, and saw the horrors and gathered Towering Flame up, along with the aetheryte axe his father used to use and took him away from the scene, to question him on what happened. Once the boy was calmed, he told of what he had saw, and the entire village scoured the entire countryside, but his brother was nowhere to be found. The coward had fled. Towering Flame though began his axe training under his uncle's teachings. But the damage to the boys mind was already done. The boy was filled with a lot of anger. Two years later that anger would result in him going berserk and slaying both friend and foe during training. Master Vicious Star quickly pinned the boy and took him away from his uncle. He began learning new techniques that would help calm his raging spirit, for in the span of two years, Towering Flame became a rarity amongst their people. He had become a berserker. That training though had a setback though two years later, when the Calamity began, and the fires of Bahamut rained down upon them. But luckily Towering Flame and Master Vicious Star survived, and he was able to continue his mental training for another three years before Master Vicious Star declared he was safe to be within the city and town limits once more. Then came the day, two years after his training was complete, a traveler spoke of seeing a Hellsguard Roegadyn boarding a ship to Limsa Lominsa, that matched the description of his brother. Towering Flame bid his farewells to his friends and family and even Master Vicious Star, and set out, with his father's axe, to dispense justice to his long hated brother. But even arriving his Limsa Lominsa, there was no sign of his brother to be found anywhere. The trail had gone cold. But Towering Flame vowed to avenge his parents. It is only a matter of time before his brother is found.

Ul'Dah Garden will in all likelihood be getting just a small. We are a small FC, and haven't even achieved getting 2 million gil yet. It's disappointing that housing is so expensive, we would of prefered a medium or large plot. So current plans is to keep gathering what little gil we bring in, and hopefully when the price changes go into effect and the discount is applied, we will have 5 million gil for a small.

Well when it came to my main character who's image I use as my avatar, it came down to the history of the character from other games. She basically is a reroll. So I will try to be brief about her history lol. Her first incarnation was that of an NPC for my future world of warcraft characters as their mother. Her name was Kailia (Later when the game went live, she got a rename) When I went to Lord of the Rings Online, she ended up becoming the daughter of my captain character, a spritely young girl who was a gifted genius and could speak with animals (She was a loremaster). When I went back to World of Warcraft, she became a Worgen Druid. First server she was on though the name was taken and she became Kailiah. But then when drama happened and I paid transfered her to where she is now, she became Kailia as she was always meant to be. She was orphaned very young and grew up in a forest alone as a wild child. When I left WoW, I went to Everquest 2 for a bit, she became a human warden I think it was, with the ability to transform into a tiger and a wolf. Again, an ophan girl who stowed away on a ship. Then I went to Star Wars: The Old Republic, and she was taken by the Jedi Council to become a consular. So the character has been with me for a long time. So when I came to Final Fantasy XIV: A Realm Reborn, I knew I wanted to reroll her and I looked at the races available, as well as the classes. When I saw Miqo'te, I instantly thought of her druid history, how in WoW and EQ2, she could turn into a cat. So Miqo'te was perfect for her. I also wanted real cat eyes, so Seekers of the Sun was her best option, but also seekers had the right hair color for her as well. And of course, Conjurer for the nature magic. So that's why I chose Miqo'te. It fit the character I had played in other games perfectly.

K'ailia felt herself being pulled and was instantly confused. But even she caught the tone K'ile was using and her ears flattened against her head. When her mother took her, it was comforting. She hoped wherever her mother was taking her, it was away from the one with the mean voice. She hoped it would be to someone that would make her feel better as she finally cluched her mothers clothes and closed her eyes. It hurt less then in the blackness. But even the blackness would flash memories of the fires raining down. She could hear the screams of dying family. But try as she might, she could do nothing. -

K'ailia continued moving through what remained of the tribe camp. Her scalp burned and the heat wave continued playing tricks with her vision. And for a brief moment, she thought she saw a lake, but was just a mirage, a charred bit of land where one of the fireballs had hit. She approached the charred area and instantly broke down. There were three bodies there of her family. But they were no longer recognizable. They were cooked till just bone was showing, their bodies broken. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she sunk to her knees. Who were they? So many died when the fires rained down. Rising to her feet she turned back towards camp, and saw a trail of sand traveling through camp and slamming into one of the tents. She continued clunching the doll as she slowly made her way to the tent. But even as she did, she was feeling dizzy. And arriving to the edge of the tent she finally collapsed, falling through one of the walls. "K'piru... where are ya... it hurts..." was all she could manage as she landed practically into K'piru's hip, the doll falling to the ground. -

Little eleven year old K'ailia was in shock to say the least. Her tail firmly tucked between her legs, even her clothes had not escaped much of the flames. In her hand, a little stuffed doll shaped like a miqo'te. She had remembered hundling with the other children, and a few cinders had landed on her. She remembered her mother grabbing her up and patting the flames out, excessively hard. But unfortunately, a lot of hair on her little head was singed, to the point she hardly had any real hair left. Yes, even some of her scalp had burn marks. But since she was burned, her mother kept trying to comfort her, and wouldn't let her out of her sight. Believing her mother now asleep from exhaustion, she found herself stepping out into the ruins of her home. Her little scalp still hurt, as she walked along trying to find K'piru. K'piru would make the hurt stop. Thus she walked, carrying the doll wrapped in both arms as her only comfort. The sun seemed unusually hot to her, and she was starting to see double and tripple vision as she walked.
