As someone who crossed the gender/sex line from one to the other and played both Male / Female characters - The most people who have an issue with what you play are the kind of people who either themselves are insecure or been too easily influenced by others with negative opinions regarding it. Regardless of server or person I speak to, I always address them as - Character is a female, then it's a she. Character is a male? Then it's a he - Unless otherwise stated of course, like if I meet another one like myself, then I will always refer to them the way they want to be. So with that out of the way: Always play whatever it is you want, and roleplay it to your heart's desire. You never know what you may find out about yourself, and in the end it will be a learning experience. As for people giving you flak well, that's their problem as I mentioned above. If you are an aspiring writer, you definitely need to look at things from a multitude of angles. Personally, I tend to avoid playing Male characters because to me, they are a part I left behind and I find that most Male characters I play just tend to end up shitty. Of course I can write interesting male characters ( I think at least? ), I'm just not good at acting one. So my characters are all Females. So.. So there! :roll:

It is not a lack of writing proficiency mind you. It is more that I can't see it. If someone has it stated, that they are a fantastic swordsman ( Not godmodder ), and yet gets punked out by every complete stranger on the street because of the way the dice came down. It just takes me out of it. I'd rather see the person being able to prove it, than to watch a slow and arduous battle of the texts. ( Do note I've just woken up so, my mind isn't all there, but I hope I can explain it well enough still.. ) To me, this just comes across as nothing more than two people jumping over tables saying "pewpew" to each other, and that is why I can't do it nor want to do it, and if someone tries to get me into it, I've always said that it's one of the things I won't do because of this disconnect. I just find no enjoyment in it. In Star Trek Online, I tried a modified variation that worked " slightly better " for me, which was to RP while fighting some enemies we came across so, for me personally that way is better. When you can do A, B and C so to say. Everyone's different, after all. I hope I made myself more clear now.

I can't do combat RP. I just can't let fate dictate the outcome on a dice roll while doing a vague description of getting elbowed in the face by the world's smallest Lalafell. That just makes me, out of it completely. Now, if we're talking duels... That's Fine. But /em attempts to kick you in the shins. /roll / rng /whatever it is. -person rolls a 1- /em falls over flat on my face. Can't. Just can't.

If I'd have a character who'd acquire the Dark Knight crystal, I'd do it as a slow corruption kind of way. Slowly gnawing at the back of the mind with cynical views and negativity, only getting amplified when doing something good like, say jumping between the White Mage and a Monster to save the Mage, drawing forth more power from the crystal in this regard by turning the darkness into strength. Thus the character would need to walk the balance of retaining the direction of life with the apparent stupidity of others, so to say. Something like that, I'd do.

As someone who has a huge fondness for Bards ( and Amano style bardic-artwork, trust me, get a Thavinarian Turban ) and looking forward to patch 4.15 for the Perform abilities, I second this... Though I had to re-read this like five times to wrap my head around it since I, at first thought this was for player-made poems and songs but after re-reading it, it's all NPC stuff.. I'm afraid a wiki of this kind would be terribly small because it just isn't that much stuff in this world. It's quite lacking in certain aspects of it's world building. But I still second this and I am here to give my opinion of: Break a leg!
