  1. I think this sounds like an excellent idea. And from one petty dabbler of Tarot to the other, I like this idea. Of course the second I read Storyteller I start thinking of the Lv 70 Bard trench coat But yes, I am in full support of someone whose eager to divine the future in game.
  2. No, I made a Tumblr, that's rapidly going out of date since I started thinking strongly about resetting the character to zero. It may be less involved but I just it to keep a track of specific in-character things.
  3. I too skimmed over the post but as someone who loves Summoner/Arcanist/Scholar ... I don't mind more pet classes. That's a ridiculous statement said by Square. Known, for their outlandish, stupid, and ridiculous statements. ADD BEASTMASTER NOW! IT'd be soo cuuute with all the puppies and stuff.
  4. This may be an old reply but I say, Go for it. Anyone whose actually spent time reading the lore book would see that the lore is busted. If you so wanted, you can pick Machinist as your class and claim that your weapon is an arm cannon, strapped on by the fabulous powers that be Cid's workshop and nifty workers and that the gun is actually powered by your own aether. Technically there's nothing to stop you from doing so. So again I said, if she wants to be a Viera, I say she should go for it.
  5. So about a week ago or so, playing through the MSQ as my main character again whom I had abandoned sometime ago out of boredom. Watching the cutscenes, just, made things sorta connect in my head and I could see how this would just, lend itself really well to the melancholy of my head. So I made a GMV about it and the opinions have been positive so far. Some criticism of certain aspects but still applauded it. That's not to say I can't take negative criticism of course, I look for all kinds. It's the only way to get better. Either way, I wanted to share it with you all. And hear your thoughts on it. Enjoy ~ PS. Since I can't get spoiler tags to work... Apologize for the video just being in your face right here. = ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~= ~
  6. If you spot me around, don't fear to strike up a conversation with me. I am open to meeting anyone.
  7. I did not read any other replies aside from the main one. Just a disclaimer. And also my reply is a month late, but myes. First off, to me it sounds like you have fallen for this one more than just a friend. But that's okay, it happens. Secondly, just as it seems to you, it also seems to me, that she is avoiding confrontation because she's evidently not good with them. Whatever warm feelings there used to be, are just not there anymore. Personally, but this is how I deal with things, I place the cards out on the table and demand answers. An end to the suffering. And if they aren't willing, then I end it myself right there and then. But.. That's my life experiences that makes me this direct and may not be right for you. Either way, The only thing I can say is that, it's time to move on. Since I am one month late with this - How has things progressed?
  8. I would say that perhaps it's because he had our lover killed. Or perhaps it's because he's just old.
  9. For Lv 50 there's the two Darklight Cowl of Casting / Healing ( Both Dyable ). The Darklight Cowl of Casting drops from Lost City of Amdapor while the Healing equivilent drops from Brayflox ( Hard ). They have a similar appearance to that of the Ascians robes almost, with " rune-like " elements ( or perhaps more 'tribal tattoo art' ) on them. The Gloves are by far the best in my opinion as they are clawed and look really neat. If that's what you mean of course. For actual singular hoods without cloaks well.. Then I don't actually know of any.
  10. Boko's gonna KWEH!

  11. Faris Scherwiz, she's my favorite. Cecil Harvey, he's also my favorite. Sephiroth, loved him since I first saw him. FF1 Red Mage, says itself really. And Red XIII because I love fluffy doggies and a doggie that can talk would be the best thing EVURRRR! I could pet him and be like " Whose a good boy! " in a silly tone, and it'd be so cool and all that!
  12. Heh, the only ones I truly loathed in Dark Souls were all the STR focused players. They'd run up and slam me to death once. And then they had the gall to send me a message with an insult like " F-ck you for using magic! ". Which only strengthen my resolve to keep using magic even though it's a death sentence for invasions since it's so easy to avoid .. Simply out of spite and hate for them .. Wrath of Gods is an amazing spell hands down <3
  13. My uncle ( Mother's side, 1 or 2 years older than me ) and I used to watch a lot of Wrestling when we were kids. Or rather, he watched and I watched with him because of the whole family-lookupto stuff. And after we watched Wrestling, he'd try to do those moves.... On me. I had quite the bruises as a child and even a blue eye once. I haven't followed wrestling really for over 20 years, give or take. When the new upstarts started coming into it and Hogan turning heel I think it's called, I kinda lost interest I guess. BUT, when you stumble across a clip of someone who captures your interest, you sit there and go; :surprise: HOW IS HE STILL ALIVE AFTER THAT! Watching old videos from like the 80's with Tiger Mask is pretty darn impressive But I guess there aren't many new eye-catching ones like it was back then, though I could be wrong. But like, I don't hear there's anyone as crazy as Ultimate Warrior was with the rocket fuel and the space aliens and Hoagan and SNAAARK and stuff like that. Hence why it's not gotten my attention very much.
  14. I used to be pretty active Star Trek Online player. Having a Federation - Alien - at Lv 60. A Klingon Defense Force - Ferasan - at Lv 60. And Klingon-Aligned Romulan - Alien - at Lv 60. I recently stopped playing this though because the pointlessness of it all set in. All the loot boxes and all the time waste doing stuff was grinding my gears. A long long time ago, I used to play World of WarCraft. Not anymore though. I'd love to get into The Secret World, but it doesn't run too well on my computer. And since they renamed it Secret World, Legends... Not sure I want to anymore. Shadowrun Chronicles is a game you potentially could see me in, though.. It's not very good. Dreadnought I've had massive funs with the few hours I've played it, but oh kweh, it's great! Since I'm going for 100% Achievements in Dark Souls III ( Steam ), you could potentially find me there, cursing at everything. Otherwise I mostly just play old school games. There's always something new to learn in the old.
  15. I don't often make a thread like this as I am so rarely hyped over something, although this year is indeed shaping up to be something incredible. Getting Street Fighter 30th Collection and Mega Man X Collection, all for steam is just amazing, and yesterday it was announced that Dark Souls was getting a Remaster for everything under the sun almost. This made me incredibly giddy since I love both Dark Souls 1 and Demon's Souls ( sadly the latter is not getting a remaster nor a PC release but if it did.. ), with the other two game being lower in the enjoyment scale for me, I've wanted to play Dark Souls 1 in Dark Souls 3's Engine and just imagining all the flowing coats and stuff. Sweet! In my excitement, I finally got around to sit down and record various cut scenes that I've wanted to do for years, and put it together in this neat little video. There are things I feel that could been better with the video, but I was satisfied enough with it to let it be. Are you excited for this news? Or perhaps, you've never been into Dark Souls at all? I'd love to hear it ~
  16. I completely agree with Zen Ares. It's far more enjoyable to find someone in RP to RP with. It's far more interesting. To quote one of my favorite movies; " The deepest friendship often comes through a chance meeting. " Of course, if I am talking to someone OOCly and then they sporadically want to RP without establishing anything, I will be taken completely off-guard oftentimes and be unsure of where the heck to even begin. Sometimes it's good to just lay a small foundation if it's someone you started talking OOCly with, I personally feel. As for the whole, discord-tumblr-forum stuff, my personal take-away on this is that I can't stand Discord when it comes to groups and servers. Always seeing the red icon of judgement on the discord image bugs the hell out of me - not to mention before I disabled sound, or even far far worse, people who obsessively need to speak on microphone all the time. The few times I've joined some discord server, I eventually just as quickly leave it because the people can never shut up :frustrated: Tumblr.. I'm not sure how that'd work. I guess one could use it to record the events itself in a form of storyline. That'd be nice. But forums yeah. If you're in a serious guild / fc and they make a forum, and you want that kind of connection, it's a no-brainer to join that forum in my opinion. Though naturally this can have issues of it's own, people after all, are people. Say the wrong thing to the wrong person and drama may unfold and if you're not a good leader, that one drama can be enough to taint it forever.
  17. Hmmm... :geek: Guess I'll just have to get shot to find out! But there's so many variables we need to consider when it comes to this. Magical Enchanted armor, what kind of caliber the weapon used to fire with is, if that weapon itself is magical enchanted, let's say the magitek gunblades just how powerful is a shot from one of those. Or to put it differently: There's a difference in using an old War rifle like American Civil War or Swedish Dragoons vs the latest Anti-Tank Sniper Rifle. And I feel that FFXIV's weaponry end up somewhere in the middle, but more closely to the former as opposed to the latter. Or again to put that differently: A bullet will always hurt. It's just a matter of where it hits and how long you live after getting shot. But in fantasy, it's best to take it all with a grain of salt, unless you plan on rerolling. #NoRegrets :chocobo:
  18. Actually, it was World of Warcraft about 10-11 years ago, and I was only observing many who did it. It simply just never clicked with me. :dazed: And then I have observed people attempting to do the very same things in FFXIV in Ul'dah and it's like... Yeah, that's not my thing at all. But I feel like I've said all I can about this topic now. So next one ~
  19. -snip- Quoted and bolded for emphasis. This is exactly what I was trying to convey in the latter half of my previous post. Don't get me wrong. As I said in my original response to you, Fear, I'm with you on getting seriously turned off by random dice rolls. (I'm more open-minded about fleshed out systems that have specific types of rolls as a component... Not that I'm a huge fan of those, either.) But I don't see how one method is inherently better than the other. There's nothing wrong with having that perspective, per se. It's merely turned this into a curious examination of your logic. But to each their own, of course. Although, if I were to boil all of this down to its most simplistic components... I'd personally say that all dueling really does is change the form of the dice -- probably flip the odds to be in your favor, since the implication there is that you prefer PvP due to it being something you have direct control over and are actually good at. But the idea that OOC mechanical proficiency should be equivalent to IC skill/experience is not something I think you'll find that most people here agree with. 1. Non-taken wrong :moogle: 2. Either I misunderstand you or you misunderstand me. It is not about experience. You can be the most authorish of author with hundreds if not thousands of published works - But I'd still not be able to " act " that so to say. It is not something I find enjoyable at all and will in fact, only take me out of the experience. Or to attempt to put it in other words, if this was D&D and we sat around a table or such, it'd be easier for me to do this by the nature of that ' style ', but when it comes to an MMO like this, there's a very clear disconnect in my imagination to what's happening around me, which again leads in to what I said earlier about that if two are doing such a duel outside in the middle of a field, this again becomes easier to visualize and imagine compared to two on a busy street. Now two people doing a well-choreographed /slap and /stagger with descriptive text is always a joy to see but therein lies the difference of course. As Aegir said earlier, watching two people continually make more and more ludicrous dodges because no one is willing to back down for 7 hours... But don't take this as " Oh Fear, you just don't have a good imagination " because that'd not be true at all. I just feel the need to stress this so that I don't get misunderstood on that! :frustrated: If this isn't a red flag for some.. Well fine, that is your prerogative to see it that way. But when someone comes up to me, pulls out their sword with an empty threat, I can't do anything but shrug at them. I just can't take it seriously.. Doesn't mean I won't try under the right circumstances. It just means that I will preferably avoid it, with everyone, unless someone with a really good reason convinces me otherwise.
  20. That sounds... enormously unwise of Square. I'm not surprised of course that they latch onto their archaic business ideas like most other game developers. And I sincerely doubt people will obey that guideline so to call it, since people made several themes from other stuff in LOTRO without repercussions as far as I know. But the line that severely sends my red flags up in the air that you said was; " ...we came up with on our own and are willing to give it away without monetization. " Of course I don't know if it was your choiced words here or if they actually said it. But if the latter.. Then that is concerning as %/#")(¤. I haven't read or heard much about this but, can anyone play instruments or is it a Bard requirement? --------------- Regardless, I think this is a good idea. I thought it was a good idea before but now that I'm a bit more versed in your plan, I like it even better. So my tip is to make a very userfriendly design that's very straight forward and easy to understand. Too often have I stumbled across pages and wikia's that are absolutely atrocious.
  21. I am just confused now. What do you mean 'emulating music not in the game'? As for parodies, chalk it up to the translation team taking liberties perhaps.
  22. I haven't admittably been paying attention to how the Perform will work but.. Are you saying it's... a-auto-playing? That we just pick a song..? And not like in LOTRO where you yourself played the instruments..?
  23. I feel like I'm trying to explain it over and over and over but people misinterpret my meaning, or even assumes wrongly. When I made my first post in this thread, it was under the assumption of " This is my red flag, and therefore I won't do it. " but I find myself having to try and explain better and better each time. The reason I took this 'master swordsman' as example it's because it's what I have observed some to have proclaimed themselves as, only to almost immediately get undone by someone kicking them in the shins. Compare this to, let's say the movie Yojimbo by Akira Kurosawa. His the titular character would been undone in the first five minutes of the movie. Or we could take a book as well for example, there's plenty of those. Now, I won't rule lawyer what others do of course but let's look at it from a realistic standpoint. If someone pulls a sword in a tavern and threaten to cut someone else down, the tavern would erupt into confusion and concern with some fleeing for the streets and some try to stop the troublemakers. Heck, if it'd be on the street, in the city, you'd have the whole parade of the city guard to rush up to stop them. Naturally this doesn't happen and in my experience of observing this from people is that, no one interrupts their bubble. Occasionally you'll have someone try to interrupt the two combatants but it will usually result in that they ignore that one's concern, or they'll become scornful towards that person. So with all this in mind - There's absolutely no way I can comprehend two people trying to sword fight - or threaten with magic spells - in the middle of a busy street or the likes and not get punished severely for it. Two people in the middle of nowhere however? That's more comprehensible. But frankly, when it comes to me, I'd preferably just be let out of it. Unless we can actually have, a duel. I hope I finally explained well enough, my point.
  24. dice rolls will decide if you win or lose, but not how you win or lose--and rp is all about your ability to improvise. there's also no real effective way to 'prove' it. By actually fighting, you'd prove it. That is why I can't, do dice rolls.
