Welcome Edda~ I played RO too! What server did you play on? I'm a complete novice to RPing, but everyone here has been really nice and helpful when I'd ask question or for help. So don't worry too much and ask away.

I always hated seeing threads like this and it's what kept me from registering here. After most of the backhanded comments and new player head hunting died down is when I decided to join HRC. I can't help but to feel bad now since deciding on Gilgamesh is stepping on some people's toes. I wish everyone could just have more tact on both sides. It's suppose to be a community right?

Just a quick question but why is it bad to be an offtank? I mostly played healing classes so I've yet to learn the in and outs of being a tank person! I don't know anything about Warrior or Paladins since I've only played the beta as Marauder and Gladiator. I did get to level 35 with both classes though. Up to those levels I felt gladiator did far less damage than marauders. Playing gladiator was much easier tanking since conjurer's didn't need to heal me as much. I found taking care of enmity much easier as marauder though. I think the biggest problem I had as Marauder was running low on TP and slowing my party down a little bit. I got better at managing it but I lose a lot of TP when I need to get enmity back from someone or in longer boss fights. Something I liked about marauder more than gladiator was that they can use their stun attack off the global cool down, but it's cool down time was much longer if I remember correctly. I think the general idea is that Warrior is an HP tank that has good AOE enmity gain. While Paladin is a high defense tank with less damage output. It felt like both can do their jobs well borrowing skills and using slightly different strategies. What we don't know is how much will late game bosses hurt. I think warrior will be a better tank for leveling, but maybe not in major boss type situations. I guess that's not very helpful huh? Also I think I typed too much this time.. sorry! =T

Yes I bet that can look cool! I don't really mind it. It could be because I'm new to RP but as long as they explain it well enough it's okay with me. If anything I'm more bothered about lighting posing and wearing Miqo'te racial armor because it doesn't suit her personality at all. That said I only played through FFXIII not XIII-2 so I dunno if she has any sweeping changes in her character.

Are fishing spots like nodes, or are they like an entire body of water? 100 does sound like very few if they're just nodes. I wish we could play already! Also they cant bring down HRC 'cos of special NDA info can they? (･-･｡) Sorry I worry too much.

Yes I agree 100%. I lurked for a while before posting and even when these guys disagree they are level headed and civil. I think if I had this crowd in past MMOs I would have had much better experiences. Yes I think you're right! I just feel really bad when people whisper or mail me asking if I'm ignoring them. ;p O-Okay! I can't wait to play either! It's been a long time since I've been this excited about anything really. Also I dunno what that says about me as a person. (。。; )

Welcome Asheon~ Don't feel old! Almost every good MMO community experience I've had has come with more mature players. Sometimes I feel like some jokes or references are over my head but that can happen with more than I want to admit.

Hello! Sorry for introducing myself super late. =T I’ve played lots of MMOs; mostly for a very short duration before moving on. The only MMO I played for a very long time was my first one, Ragnarok Online. I played as a healing class and participated in a lot of PVP type stuff and did a lot of PVE farming. Circumstance led me to not enjoy healer and I now really enjoy playing as a tank in MMOs. Mostly because I think swords and shiny armor is really cool. I don’t know how effective I’ll be in FFXIV but I’ll try not to mess up! I’ve never RP’d before but I always enjoyed seeing it. I’d sometimes try to work up the nerve to join people but never followed through because I didn’t want to interrupt or just completely blow it! Running around in game and seeing players interacting through RP always made the game feel more like a place to me. I always appreciated that dynamic so when I play a MMO I try to roll on an RP server. This time I want to be a part of it so I look forward to learning to RP and a new game with everyone. =] Also I always get tunnel vision when I play any type of game, so if I sprint past you or keep fighting cactuars I’m not ignoring you, I’m just oblivious. Don’t think I’m a huge jerk okay!

What kind of dogs do you have? :surprise: I have a Border Collie and an Aussy. They are awesome, but my aussy is a pain in the butt still. I have one dog called Dagur and he is a Beegle.

I hope they add alternate sit positions someday too. My character looks cool sitting but it's awkward if I'm just relaxing and chatting. Oh, I'm speaking about female Highlander by the way.

Did you pick your class because it seem cool or that it seems more you? I definitely picked my class because I think it's cool. It might be because the guy that introduced me to MMOs always made me be a healer. So once I got the chance I made a cool sword person. Since then I always liked picking classes that use swords and have cool armor. Then that same person pretty much yelled at me all the time when I would tank. In the end It helped me play better, but playing games now is a lot more fun without them~ Does this class fit my Role Player? I'm new to RP and I have never done it. So I've no idea if it will suit my character. I've thought about what type of character I'd liker her to be, but I guess I still have a lot to flesh out. That said I guess I'm pretty shy and my RP may reflect that.. I may have to change what class I play? =\ How do I role play with the change of classes or subclass ( Dragoon, or Lancer and monk)? I.. I dunno!

I would love to attend something like this! It sounds like it can be fun. This would be a Balmung event right? I hope it's held some place I can safely get to with a lowbie character. I don't know if I'd have the courage to share a story to a group of people though.. so I probably won't be able to contribute. =T
