Most of those games its best to ignore the main characters and focus on the badass supporting cast. Amarant Steiner Freya and my favourite, Beatrix With 12 it was much the same, best to ignore Vaan, he's not the bloody main character anyway its definitely Balthier... and that guy is many shades of awesome

I know what they are doing in theory, they think they are rewarding the players who cant log in as much, making it a little easier for them to catch up. I am all for that, however this system seems more like it penalizes the people who play more/longer. Would make a lot more sense to leave the whole surplus thing out and have a bonus boost for people who haven't logged in for a while. Makes more sense than stopping the people who want to get everything they can out of something they pay for. Just my opinion though, can't see the system staying in place very long. I can't imagine there is any positive feedback for it.
