  8. So... provisionally, if I want to do what I had originally planned, which was start 3 characters from launch its going to cost me £13.19 ($20.19 US) a month. Now from what I gather those three character will have the one retainer between them unless I purchase more. Would I likely need more than one for 3 characters or is that enough does anyone know yet?
  9. My father was an archer, not the greatest in the world by his own admission, but good. Good enough to hit his mark pretty much all of the time. I used to think it was so cool, he was so cool, he would show off a little and do tricks with arrows. I used to stand in awe and think my dad was a real life hero, like the ones in the storybooks I used to read. A little bit of age and a lot of teenage angst changed that. All my father would ever do is hunt for food and show off his tricks to the local children. I just didn't get it. He could be using his bow to fight for justice, not be a sideshow freak to entertain an audience. My Dad was, is and always will be smarter than me. I picked up my bow to fight, I trained with it on my own every day and I got better and better with it each day. Then in my teenage arrogance, I challenged my father to a test of marksmanship. I exclaimed that when I won, I would go to join the military. Lend my bow to the great struggle of good versus evil. It was a grandiose Idea, but I was arrogant and brash enough to think that I could and would change the world. I would show my father what a real man with skill and the passion to use it could do. My father just smiled his regular lazy smile and patted me on the head. At that moment, oh I hated him. Never the less he agreed to it. I drew back the string on my bow, fired three single shots straight after one another into the target in front of me. Each managed to strike the bullseye. I had done it, I was so convinced I had. Then my father calmly raised his bow, putting three arrows into it, he fired them off at the same time, splitting each of mine right down the middle. I stared at the target gob-smacked. My father simply put his hand on my shoulder and said, "When you can do that, you may just be ready." He then put down his bow, and to this day has never picked it up again.
  10. Good old GMT... because Greenwich is actually not that far from me
  11. Maybe we can do a count the Europeans thread
  12. Those cupcakes are on my "to make next" list
  13. Sounds good I dont know if it would be better to emulate the ingredients used for each dish as it is made in game, or if we could just take the name and make something that fits the name and general idea of it. Say meat miqabobs required a piece of Aldgoat meat, and an onion to create would we stick to just those (replacing the meat with something real ) or should we deviate to make something tasty in the spirit of the dish like a Kofte Kebab?
  14. I actually have a recipe for goat steak somewhere >.> but maybe normal beef or pork steak would be a better idea
  15. I like the idea of episodes too But yes, doing recipes for the food that is actually in FFXIV is good Anyone have a list of the food that is available so far? Or isn't there any?

  17. There was a project I was considering doing in FFXI for a little while but never got around to and that's making a FFXI theme cookbook :study: Now FFXIV is on the horizon I am thinking about it again. So I was wondering, if anyone out there has some good recipes they would submit to the cookbook All you have to do is post it here, or PM it to me and come up with a FFXIV inspired name for it. I have a couple of recipes I'll likely submit but just have to finalise them. :afro:
  18. "Gah, you people and your talk of war. War is never a solution; it is an aggravation." Doc shook his head and grinned "The boy was right... again... I must look into that." Doc placed several vials back into his bag. "So... One-eye? Who is this One-eye character? He's not a Samurai by any chance? I've heard stories..."
  19. A young Elezen man with fiery red hair sits at a desk, there is a small box in front of him on the desktop, the box is filled with cards. Two men enter the room, one a Duskwight Elezen wearing a mask and a hood, the other a Hyur with a mess of brown hair, dressed in fine clothing. "So how are we going to do this?" Asked the masked Elezen. The Elezen at the desk took a deep breath. "Well, the cards are finished, I guess there isn't much more we can do than to get them out there. Other than the few I have pointed out I'm sure you can use your own judgement on whom qualifies. We aren't some clandestine organisation, I'll be glad if word of us gets out, but we have to be selective." The two men nodded in agreement, then the Hyur let out a large dramatic sigh. "Right! amass a group of well meaning adventurers, stick them together then hope that they save the world before killing each other. Sounds simple enough. After that is done I'll show you a Lalafell juggling three Morbols," he chuckled. "Well I suppose if we distribute them out evenly we can cover more ground," the masked Elezen chimed in grinning despite himself. "Sounds fair." The crimson haired Elezen replied as he split the box of cards into three even piles and handed two of them out to the two men. He smiled, "Lets get to work." The Hyur chuckled again, "Good luck to us all, we'll need it." 20. Doc tilted his head and looked at Ryelle curiously. "Quite sure, a whole day at least, possibly a little longer. However I doubt our wounded friend here has the energy or the ability to start a conversation in the state he is in, let alone another fire. We could have a couple of the crew here stand at the ready with several large buckets of iced water just in case." Doc chuckled and smiled warmly. "No need to worry, I'm usually sure what I am doing." Doc said with a sense of reassurance in his voice before getting back to work.
