  1. Rewrote the main post entirely to make it easier on the eyes and more informative. Well I love the veteran reward mount, I'll probably be buying enough game time to get it right away. Considering getting bard up just for that PvP set, at least I assume it's for bard, it sure looks like it would be, either way it looks great. The veteran rewards are given as soon as you buy the subscription, so you don't have to wait for that amount of time to get them, you just need to purchase the amount of gametime required.
  2. Thanks, managed to screencap everything past that point so will edit and use yours where you have clearer ones. Greatly appreciated because my stream froze on a few of them.
  3. Yeah, I'm really happy about that since I'm incredibly insecure about what server I want to play on. Also nice if a month or two after launch a server suddenly turns nearly into a barren wasteland, you can get somewhere that actually still has a community. Also I was too slow on reacting to the seasonal outfits to screencap (It was a Snowman suit and a girlier outfit with a skirt and striped stockings). If anyone happened to catch those I'd appreciate being able to add them to the main post (credited to you for taking the picture of course).
  4. Was just confirmed on stream that Beta Phase 4 will be 17th-19th, or 16th-19th if you played phase 3, and early access will be 24th-launch. Other news about it is that phase 4 will be level capped to 20, so you can pretty much just prepare some of your classes early levels, though Arcanist will be available in phase 4. Okay, since Live Letter is over I've changed the main post into a bit more of an overseeable format rather than just a pile of notes. Feel free to use this as a general discussion topic on the Live Letter I suppose. Spoiler contains the Q & A official translations from http://forum.square-enix.com/ffxiv/threads/62880 In addition I have quite a lot of screencaps for the different questions! In order to not stuff too much in one place I'll make individual spoilers for each section of pictures related to a question. Picture related to Q22 (Unicorn): Pictures related to Q27 (Furniture): Pictures for Q42 (well, PvP Armor and Weapons, not the area they showed): Pictures for Q45 (Veteran rewards): Just some pure fashion outfits that were showcased: Seasonal outfits (Christmas): Credit to doctorgalactic for screencapping the seasonal outfits. Compiled information on fishing, thank you to Ingkeu (http://ingkeu-mihili.tumblr.com/) for writing it down and Reinheart (http://www.twitch.tv/reinheartv) for translating the entire stream live. Personally was a bit disappointed since I'm really looking forward to get back into it I was hoping it would be sooner, but I guess it makes sense to make it short when it carries over to release. Very happy that I get to start on arcanist right away, though!
  5. Playing Civilization 5 and Dota 2 to tide me over on time when the people I play with are around. Aside from that I've been playing a lot of older games, I just finished The Legend of Zelda (the first one), that game holds up remarkably well.
  6. Okay so I decided to make another one, this time with an entirely different definition of Villain so I spent around 10-15 minutes giving him a little story of his own! It's not very well written since I did it so fast but I'm not really planning to do anything beyond this with the character as of now. Will probably flesh it out and word it better if I end up making him as an alt. He's a villain in the sense of the law, though from an ethics standpoint I don't see him as a villainous person. This brings up the question, are you really necessarily a villain for breaking the law? Also I think I complete missed the point of the thread with this one... sorry about that. Edgar was a happy man, he grew up in a farm on the outskirts of Ul'dah. He had a childhood friend named Sigrid, who he had a crush on since longer ago than he can remember. It was a simple life, but he was content. When they were in their early teens he asked and she said yes. They were happy together, and both believed they had found true love. Extrapolate into the future another ten years, his parents had died of old age, he was saddened by it but life was still good and he was running the farm now. Edgar and Sigrid were still together and happy, one night under the starry sky and shining moon he proposed to her and she said yes. Not a year after they got married they found out she had gotten pregnant. She gave birth to a lovely baby boy and they couldn't be happier. Four years later Dalamud broke open. He was in Ul'Dah trading wares when his house got destroyed with his wife and son still in it. In a moment his family, hopes, dreams were lost. He had no home or savings available and ended up living in the cold, hard alleyways of Ul'Dah. He was forced stealing and searching through other people's garbage for food, and any time he managed to get any spare money he would spend it to try and drink away his sorrows. He was caught once trying to steal a loaf of bread and got badly beaten, with some of the scars still showing on his face. After being jailed for a time he has gotten work as a miner, but it still pays too poorly for him to get a new home, and by this point he's so far down the bottle that there is no going back. He has no desire for revenge against Bahamut, he knows it will not bring his family back; he is just trying to get more alcohol in order to drink away his sorrows and wait for his slow demise in the cold, lonely alleyways of Ul'Dah.
  7. Well, I gave it a go, first time I made the cutest Elezen guy I've ever seen and halfway fell in love but this one turned out better.
  8. Oh, I quite like that idea. For some reason the idea hadn't struck me at all, but that works nicely without having to rewrite it too much. Thank you for the welcomes~
  9. I like your name a lot. As far as I can tell it follows the naming conventions and it doesn't really stumble when trying to pronounce it either, so it flows very nicely. I'll give it a solid 9/10. As for me it's a female sea wolf, name is Elilgeim Rostnswerdwyn for now, though I'm thinking of changing the surname because I'd like it to roll off the tongue easier.
  10. Well, figured I should make one of these threads as well, though I'm not really good at introductions. Learned out about the coalition while trying to find lore to flesh out my character's back story. Started playing MMOs with WoW around 2 months after it first released, and it was my go-to MMO until the end of Wrath of the Lich King. I've played quite a lot of MMORPGs since then, but the only ones I've played for a significant amount of time were Guild Wars 2, AION and TERA. I haven't really been much of an RPer in a while, the only RP I've done in an MMO was for about 2 years in WoW back in vanilla. After that the most I've had is a little bit in TERA recently, and I have played a little bit of DnD. A lot of my friends from TERA are moving to FFXIV with me and are into RP, so I figured this would be a chance for me to see if I would like to get back into it. I'm aiming to be a medium roleplayer at most probably, but I tend to try and do it properly and be consistent with lore when I do RP. I'll be playing on Excalibur since that's where my friends are, but I've met a lot of nice people that are going to be on Balmung so at the very least I'll have a secondary character there as well, they're also the people who told me about this site. Currently I'm still working on a backstory for my character and have changed it heavily to work on consistency with the lore and story, so I don't really feel comfortable to post much about my character yet, though the basic jest of it is she will be a former street urchin taken to traveling with a friend getting by as con artists. I'm trying to work her story to fit her being a summoner but really she might end up a pugilist since it fits in better. Ended up writing a bit more than I planned, but I don't really tend to be very active on forums in the long run. As for my real life it's not that I have a problem with talking about it, but I'm a completely bland and uninteresting person. Well, with all that said and done, nice to meet you~
  11. Well after having a hard time deciding I ended up on Roe female, their eyes are amazing, and I love their lore. My main reservations for them was that the really tall races tend to look pretty bad in robes or as casters in general, and she'll be a summoner. Aside from the issue with them being tall, I think a lot of players want their characters to appear "young", think teens to early twenties, and Roes look more mature. Their mannerisms as well are less "girly" than Miqo'te, who are pretty much going all out on cute in the animations. While the Roe characters aren't going for the girly and cute animations, which probably would look terrible on a character of that size anyway, I find them to look quite elegant.
