As a new player going to Gilgamesh, I can safely say both servers have their merits and it really boils down to which fits your needs best. That said, making one on both was probably the best thing you could have done. Good idea.

As of now this is the most unfounded claim on this entire thread. Balmung isn't the most "official unofficial" RP server. It's the unofficial RP server for Legacy AND non-legacy players. Leave it at that. Gilgamesh is the unofficial RP server for new players exclusively. Also, just because Yoshida didn't mention restrictions on legacy players transferring off, doesn't mean there won't be. I'm still going to Gilgamesh. And even if they CAN transfer, the same problem is still averted. I get a few weeks of play without them there so the server economy and my gameplay can stabilize. Everyone has their reasons. Stop fighting over it. Seriously.

Yeah all the codes look like that. Also, when registered on an SE account, a PS3 code will say it's a PC code. This is happening to EVERYONE and is likely intended.

Sorry to say, but maintaining a neutral ground on this whole thing shouldn't "offend" you. It's not inconveniencing you in any way to see Gilgamesh as an equal entity. Noted! I was completely unaware of this. May I then instead suggest the following: This very much has my vote.

This is all I'm saying. If you want it neutral, keep it neutral. Don't make it favor one in a subtle fashion and call it neutral.

Please point out where on this website ANYWHERE on the front page that it says Balmung is the "primary" server. Please see the above poll when Gilgamesh was selected as the secondary server. Please see the above post where Merri discredited that.

Just because you don't see it as secondary doesn't mean it's not secondary~ And this is exactly why it shouldn't be changed to say "primary" and "secondary". Even something that minor to a new forum viewer is going to make Balmung look better. Who wants to be on a secondary server when there's a primary one?

First of all, I'm not FROM the beta forums. I didn't see any "paranoid" or "elitist" posts. One of my best buds is a Legacy player. Where is he from? Balmung. He's the one who explained all this to me, and he himself is also starting over on Gilgamesh. (He's also 50 in every class, save for arcanist obviously. So I trust his judgment as he has been playing since 1.0 alpha) I've done my own research on the subject following, but please stop making generalized assumptions of the Gilgamesh community. Secondly, I didn't JOIN a Balmung oriented RP site. I joined an FFXIV roleplaying site, because that's what this is. When I found it? The Gilgamesh forums were already here. And if they lifted it at launch? You bet your ass I would lose my shit over it. But if he lifts it later? I won't care one bit. Because at that point it won't matter anymore. I'm not exactly sure about this one. I see a lot of people having a problem with the whole "I'm this even if I'm not" thing. It's kinda like roleplaying a halfbreed, or a job that isn't actually in the game. You can't really prove it so a lot of people will likely see it as a one-dimensional kinda thing that is unimportant except to establish that you are a special snowflake. That aside? Great post, a sticky would definitely prove very prudent. As someone who has a little bit of a problem with something that people are not.... This is represented by a tattoo. A tattoo which isn't even visible all the time I'm guessing knowing how character clothing models go. This isn't like roleplaying a halfbreed or a job that isn't in the game to me because those could potentially have different animations, different things that should be on your character, etc. That said if someone wanted their job to be "I raise goats" even though there isn't a goat raising job... I don't have to pretend all that hard to imagine that. And, I think that's the rule of reasonability. Someone who's magic involves time stopping and shape shifting? Again, there aren't... powers to represent that and that could be a stretch for people and generally speaking the people who would be concerned for that would comment. This is literally a story and a drawing which may or may not appear on your character's body. I think it's safe to say that pretense is fine Also as far as special snowflake... that's a term for when you ask for something that almost no one else has. Playing a mutant with telepathy in this world could qualify. It's sole purpose - when you're really being a special snowflake - is to try and add something to your character expressly to make them cooler than other people that no one else can do for no other purpose (not to advance story, offer a complication, etc.) than to try and get attention. There's HUGE swaths of people who have this history and really all it amounts to is an interesting point of history. I wouldn't call someone falling to "special snowflake syndrome" when it's something that over 30% of the game players could say they have, too. Well that's certainly fair enough. Forgive me, I come from an RP community on World of Warcraft where players are much less... Let's say, forgiving. I'm used to seeing people catch flak for RPing something that shouldn't even matter, like the issue mentioned above. I once saw 6 people give a girl a hard time because she was RPing an Orc that lived longer than their "natural" life span. ...Yeah. Glad to see the majority of this community isn't so strict.

Yes sir. This is actually the reason the game isn't releasing on Xbox 360, Microsoft was against sharing servers. So, seeing as Yoshi-P didn't want to divide the community based on platform? He game them the middle finger. Good question though, I asked the same thing awhile back seeing as my friends and girlfriend all have up to par PCs, and there is no way my lousy laptop can run ARR. My PS3 on the other hand... :thumbsup:
