  1. I am not straight and I advocate rationality. It's like when you have to deal with your in-laws. Kill them with calmness and kindness and you have a chance to get them to hate you less. If you scream and shout and sling curses at them, you come out validating their poor view of you. I think if we showed them how this could only better the community and were vigilant abut sending the message, making a large voice, we could get through. This screaming ,shouting, and insulting each other isn't going anywhere. My point is we already ARE being rational, we don't need to be told to be like we're a bunch of children. Just because you saw someone make more than one thread about something doesn't mean every gay in FFXIV is kicking and screaming. It's patronizing. Except he has a point. The arguments can become stale and repetitive to the point where it looses it's impact. Going to use SWTOR as an example, as I said before ultimately I was a bit disappointed in not being able to flirt with Corso - but even before I reach that point, that when I would go on the forums I would let out a groan at the thread and move on. Why because it became the same old "when are you adding it?,"I want it", "Come on add it", etc over and over and over. It became a consent drone that I eventually just stop thinking about at all. It's not about being patronizing or putting people in their place. Its just warning of the very real possibility of over-playing it.
  2. ha.. I wish they gave had a grumpy face option for the Lalafell - wanted to make a curmudgeonly white mage who would likely give someone a smack on the back of the head with his staff for being reckless after healing them of course. And my vote tied it up at 17.
  3. I would like another more rugged short hair option, something that doesn't look it took half a bottle of mousse every morning. Also a five o'clock shadow open. or at least something in between the chin scruff and a full blow beard
  4. Well said! People get so caught up in 'it's not a big deal' when... it is. For people who are LGBT, its kind of invalidating their gaming experience. What if Miqo's were restricted from marriage? What if only people who paid $5 extra per month could get married? What if only fair-skinned people could get married, or only Legacy players? There would be a lot of flack about above scenarios, so how is this any different? People have the right to express themselves, their sexuality, and to ask SE to deliver a better, equal marriage system. Honestly they said they are considering it, that is good enough for me. And even if they don't it won't invalidate my gaming experience. Honestly I'll probably less miffed than when Bioware decided no same sex relationships and that was because with the right appearance mod Corso was kinda cute. As far as any future RP goes, if I do end up RPing a same sex relationship and marriage comes up, I will treat it one of two ways - either what Yoshi is correct that lore-wise it is accepted and the fact I can't do the marriage "quest" as a game play mechanic or if the lore states it is not generally accepted then I will say the city-states do not dictate my relationship, how my partner and I feel do. If I recall, there was an extremely gay intimate scene with a certain elf in Dragon Age (Bioware game).
  5. I REFUSE! How can you refuse this...
  6. ^ this. >_> Minus the crush part. Oh, is that why you voted for the Hyur version of Felix instead of Miqo'te? > Biased. Role playing the traditional, typical Hyur/human is more unique since a lot of people are playing Miqo'te. If you wanna be around a lot of your own race, go Miqo. If not, go Hyur. I think Hyur look awesome, too.. So I guess I am as biased as Asyun. I'm manipulating the population because Midlanders are hot. I'M SORRY OHGOD. I have a problem.. Do feel bad, I'm with you on the Midlanders - heck my first thought when I saw the trailer was damn that guy is hot.

  8. Sounds interesting and fun, depending on my work schedule I'll love to attend.
  9. I can see both sides yhis. By the item itself being considered lore, it could lead to over use or even being used in an over blown manner that it could lead to a negative stigma being place on even well reasoned and thought out story lines that uses it. But also in addition to the IC possibilities that the effect can offer, it can be a good out of character tool. Say you feel your current character has gone as far as you can go with it, or your character story line is coming to an end via death or retirement and you don't want to discard all the work you put in leveling jobs/classes/tradeskills and gathering gear, it can be useful to create a brand new character without starting over completely.
  10. I. Basic Info Characters:Tomas Colyer, Iitryo Pipitryo Primary character:Tomas Colyer Linkshells:None (looking) Primary RP linkshell:None (looking) II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): Light (I am new to in game RPing, still in my learning phase here) Views on RP combat and injuries: I have no issue with being flexible on combat: pre-planned, rolls, or using game mechanics. Same with injuries as long as it's reasonable. Views on IC romance: Depending on the character I'm playing, general romance would be fine, as long as OOC it is kept professional. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I am not opposed, as long as it fits the general concept for the character. Views on lore: I am still a novice in terms of the lore for this game, but lore should be adhered to, but there are gaps and reasonable flexibility in it. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): Say should be in character. Party, Linkshell, etc should be detemined by the situation and/or the people involved. III. Other Info Country:United States Timezone:Eastern Contact info:message via these forums at the moment.
  11. Yeah, I have a new GPU coming this monday and I can't wait to get it in and see how it handles the benchmark.
  12. I agree. While personally it would of been nice to be able to do so, in the end it is a video game. I just don't find it big of a deal. Of course this is me personally. As for the game itself and the disconnect between that was said to be lore and what we are getting. Sometimes game-play does not equal lore, whether due to engine limitations or the devs and players think something non-cannon is just fun and it put in. I see no reason why we can't take Yoshi-P's word as "Word of God this is Lore" and the limitation a game play issue that the devs decided to enact due to real life.
  13. Here is a picture of Tomas, he is probably going to be my main. Am questioning if I should give him a bit of chin scruff. Here are a few pictures of my Lalafell, Iitryo. Still trying to finalize his look - I undecided on his hairstyle.
  14. Here is the first 3 parts of the questionnaire, answered in character.
  15. I'll toss out the two names I have decided upon so far... Tomas Colyer - A Midlander Hyur Iitryo Pipitryo - A Dunesfolk Lalafell (So far this one has given me the most trouble, so I'm hoping I screw up big) Been experimenting with a Migo'te in the character creation, but he's on hold until I get these two fleshed out.

    Hello all

Hi guys and gals, Guess I'll start with a bit of history. I've dabbled in many MMOs, such as CoH, GW, GW2 and SWTOR though WoW was what I played the most. As far as RP, I am new to it. While I would always create little back stories for my characters and gave them lore appropriate names I never actually RPed in a MMO. Bare with me as I gain my RP legs and can't wait to meet you all in the game.
