I agree that focusing on the healer is strategy, like how in PvE we want mobs to focus on the tank so no one else in the group takes damage. However, in PvE the group makes a collective effort to keep the tank from dying; the healers heal and buff the tank, the Black Mages perform crowd control to minimize the number of mobs beating on the tank, the Bards silence the mobs' big attacks, the Dragoons stun and slow mobs, etc.. In PvP, the healer (and in many cases, the Black Mage, as well) is the de facto "tank," but, unlike the tank in PvP, gets left alone to defend himself/herself while everyone rushes to down the opposing healer. Yes, the healer is usually the best target. But I believe, from my experience with ffxiv's PvP thus far (with pre-mades and PuG's), that taking steps to protect the healer (and whomever else being targeted) increases the success rate of matches and allows for more complex strategy. This I agree with but sadly this isn't the case half the time.. Because of the lack of ranking SE decided to leave out... Can't really do much when you're still gearing going up against a group in full Direwolf gear.. Not to mention how kinda brokenish it is to allow people to go in as classes instead of jobs in PvP. (Tell me you guys haven't seen the marauders going in and murdering healers in 5 seconds because of all those CDs they have access too.)

Feel free to send me a friend request if you want and see if I'm ever running Titan or would like to borrow my assistance for a run. I'd be more than happy to help if I'm not busy. ^^ Just please let me know you're adding me in response to this post as I'm very forgetful. This applies to anyone else.. o_o Hopefully I don't get flooded with friend requests, haha.

Pretty much summed up right there. Its more like a mini-game at the moment which is fine until we get higher ranks because mind you there are PvP skills we can get to help in PvP that'll make things a bit more interesting but its all very new at the moment so we won't really have those skills so for now.. It'll be either smash the healer first or smash the BLM than the healer. Also; we all hate the sleep but theres a way to counter that if you're dedicated to the PvP. Apparently there are PvP skills you can put points into to lower sleep duration and there are also matera, food, etc that do the same. It'll just take time to get them. I feel like PvP once given more time for players to progress with be interesting and have a widdle bit of strategy to it.

I've enjoyed it. Me and a few friends who went and tried it out have been doing well, we kinda figured out how to combat the sleep and a few other annoying things, after that.. Things became fun haha. Experiences will change and vary as we're all just goofing around in there at the moment.

I highly doubt that it would come out in a patch. Stuff like new classes/jobs and races and such are mainly released alongside the release of a new expansion of the mmo game.. I've never seen a mmo release new classes or races via patch.
-
Perhaps Elder Primal are a completely different set of Primals as well and are capable of doing things that the normal Primals can not? Like once being summoned by however method they can sustain themselves on their own?
-
All of these are things I had in mind (changing a texture for an MMO model is easy), I'd just like to not believe them because I want to be able to dye things, okay?! Maybe in the future for the AF sets we will be able? But for AF and AF+1 that is for sure not happening cause AF+1 dyed gear if you really think about it.. just better stats. I can totally see dye gear in the future for other AF sets if they don't do what they did with first two AFs.. same design just reskin in color.

Calming the Inner Beast- 2.1 patch warrior buffs

If they aren't spamming OP and a warrior somehow gets TP starved they are really doing something wrong, I'd agree with this if they weren't decreasing the TP cost of our SE and SP's rotation. -
Calming the Inner Beast- 2.1 patch warrior buffs

^^ I never said I had a problem with making it a passive buff. I completely agree with what you say. I personally didn't see the need to increase enmity or the 5% increase healing in defiance at the time based on personal experience but no one plays like I do or like anyone else so experiences differ. I'm just happy that I won't be a pain to my healers anymore and feel bad since they're making warriors a proper tank.. Now.. I will enjoy watching the increase of WAR pop and giggle at the silly stuff I'll be expecting on the tank forums. -
Phials of Fantasia + Name Changes as a Paid Service?
Aleister replied to Cota Orben's topic in FFXIV Discussion
Oh... I wasn't aware that there was only one item recovery per account. My company-mate was told by the GM that recovered her phial that there were a few (like 2-3). I hope no one used their recovery because of what I said. =| For now it seems like that. It could be that these GMs don't know squat about what they are talking about either. (SE's Customer Support is bad.) But since two of them now said the same thing I've chosen to save my recovery and carefully think about using it if I should ever need to use it. Better safe than sorry.. Whenever GMs use words like few and such.. I generally come at them and pick at their brains to know how much is a few. that is just me though. -
Phials of Fantasia + Name Changes as a Paid Service?
Aleister replied to Cota Orben's topic in FFXIV Discussion
The issue is I already used the one they said I get on my Miqo'te for a completely arbitrary appearance change. That's what my company-mate did for her lala and she managed to get another one from SE by using an Item Recovery and ended up changing to a miqo'te. You can always try to open a ticket in game (I've never done it so I'm not sure if you have to go through the website or not), the worst that can happen is they say no. I don't think it is worth it to waste a Item Recovery on a Fantasia because we all know sooner or later we will get the change character appearance option/name change on the mog station for a set price. From what I'm aware of you can only use the Item Recovery only once per account at the this time as I've talked to a GM twice about this and they both said the same thing, which I decided to turn it down. (One for an actually item I deleted and one being a rant about a coil accident.) If people really want the Fantasia potion I think they should wait till it can be bought.. save that item recovery item for something really important. -
For clarification, what Squee meant to say was: "Thou shalt not destroy our holy and most sacred creative vision with your silly individual preferences. And yellow is totally a good color for the monk gear, shut up!" Knowing how ARR's armors can be boiled down basically to three models per armor class + tweaks, I bet that is exactly what it is. Just a reskin of an old model. Incidentally, a quick reskin job is not much trouble at all if you know your tools, so I wouldn't discard the "unique developer gear" theory. Pretty much. old reskin perhaps and color changing wouldn't be hard either. I assume this is developer only, the gear that is.. The weapon.. I dunno honestly during the last live letter at one point forgot his name next to Yoshi asked him to get a good angle on the bow to get a good look at it (now.. why would he do that?) so.. maybe relic weapons will change further in the game? I recall them saying they wanted to do something like that.

Calming the Inner Beast- 2.1 patch warrior buffs
Aleister replied to Zac Evans's topic in FFXIV Discussion
The enmity increase on Defiance and increased enmity elsewhere is because Warriors now will be throwing out non-emnity combos A LOT more often. Now that we have a good reason to use Storm's Path to apply a damage debuff to enemies. This means Warriors will now be throwing out a Storm's Path combo and a Storm's Eye combo often, meaning less Butcher's Block combos. This has been mentioned earlier in this thread as well. Additionally now that they're receiving 20% more healing that's making the Healer's spells create more enmity as well. I keep disregarding the 5% healing increase we're getting because I'm forgetful but yes that is valid enough reason to increase enmity on defiance(If the healer out gears the warrior). I don't can't really see how myself from experience tanking BUT I'm not a dev and my opinions are mute compared to them. Rotations will be based on the SP's duration.. but Butcher's Block combos generate enough enmity that this shouldn't be a problem eitherway, especially with the Defiance buff, this doesn't apply to how group pulling should be handled as thats a whole different rotation. It really falls into how long SP's duration is on mobs. -
I have one! I was having a chat with Darien at a Grindstone event in /tell OOCly.. We're chattin, I brought up the Tadpole pet he given me a long time ago and instead of sending it to him.. I accidentally sent it to Siobhain. "You should be proud of the Tadpole you gave me, THIS LITTLE GUY CAN EFF (censoring the f word. >> UP A BABY BEHEMOTH NOW."

I don't know why Defiance for Warriors gained a increased in enmity, seems a bit much to add more but maybe they saw it fit because of 2.1? Maybe we were at a disadvantage with Paladins with their Shield Oath+Mana Pool (Meaning they could flash a lot more then a Warrior can.) I see Over Power and Steel Cyclone for sure needing enmity generating increased. SC currently has none but our base damage. Over Power has enmity bonus to it.. Just from what I've seen it really isn't that great in dungeon/raid run situations where there will be a lot of AoE damage going out.. OP at the moment doesn't do a very good job with mobs unless we use a fair amount of it.. Which would result in being TP Starved which is bad. My view on it and why Yoshi bumped/added the enmity up on these two skills, it'll help reserve our Tactical Points... Defiance on the other hand? -shrug- No idea why he buffed the enmity. Edit: Also! Don't see why they added a chain grip to Holmgang.. Its a gimped hallowed ground! >_< Should have just made that chain grip move its own skill.. I only see it being usefully if a boss is on the lose and you can grab it and stick to you.. Giving your raid time to regroup itself. -
Just like to let those interested know that this event is very similiar to the one Blacklisted has hosted before in the past. DV will have a pre-made raid set up and we'll be bringing in one person at a time to get their Titan kill. Sorry for the confusion! Thank you for the offers!

You won't be the main tank, so I wouldn't worry about it. Just make sure you watch a vid and have mumble, since that is the voice chat we use to coordinate.

For our event there is no requirement at all to join. We're lending a hand to help those who need Titan HM down. Well.. There is one which you've done already, Replying to this thread.

On November 30th, Dawn Vigil will be handing out free Titan HM kills on Balmung for those interested. We'll be sorting a list by who replys to this thread with interest in joining our event, first come first serve basis. We ask that people intending on participating join us in mumble as we want to teach the fight to those who have little knowledge and answer any questions you might have as well as just to have fun with us. Our goal is to make sure those running with us make it to the end of Titan alive! We'll be starting between the time 6PM-6:30PM CST. See ya then! ~Aleister Grey, Officer of Dawn Vigil.

Calming the Inner Beast- 2.1 patch warrior buffs
Aleister replied to Zac Evans's topic in FFXIV Discussion
We'll see how much we can heal with 100% from Inner Beast but I don't see how this reduces the fearsomeness of this skill? The fact that we get a 20% damage reduction buff for 6 seconds is crazy! In my eyes its like.. The Warrior smacks the boss with Inner Beast, after words he lets forth a powerful warcry which heals him (by 100%) and then all of a sudden.. his body hardens/stiffens or the wrath which he just blow on Inner beast coats itself on the warrior's armor/skin for the damage reduction. I dunno, something random I just came up with right now.. It seems pretty badass how I'm picturing it in my head. -shrug- Hmm, I think it's more like a barbarian's rage. He becomes so filled with resolve, anger, and inner strength that not only does he shrug off his existing wounds, but new ones are nothing to him. Pain is in ones mind, and they have the strength to ignore it. what I came up with was just something off the top of my head but that is a much cooler way of showing how Inner Beast would work. -

That's silly. This current problem with War/Pld encouraged me as a warrior to get better to were I'm almost done with Coil.. Not trying to brag just saying that if you try you can for sure see content even if the class is gimped for whatever reason. Shouldn't let the mass hate by the gaming community discourage you from playing something you thought was/is fun. Roleplaying wise I won't be changing anything about my character with the new changes in 2.1, not a fan of throwing game skills into my RP character that seems odd.. Ex: Defiance, foresight, vengence(Maybe.. This is FF after all and something like vengence could be pulled off.) PvE wise.. loving all these buffs that me and my fellow seasoned and future Warriors will be getting, difficulty with the gameplay of the class will be interesting especially with Holmgang and how it should be executed since its a gimped hallowed ground.. And with all the damage reduction added to our skills for ourselves and enemies.. healers won't be complaining anymore. 8D -
Nice! Congratulations on the Relic!
