So, now that we've seen the other cities...
Kashemia replied to Kima wolf's topic in FFXIV Discussion
While I haven't really seen Ul'dah yet, the concept fits Seraj almost too well... No, not the prostitude part <.< But I actually love the concept of all the cities, and right now, I have no idea which one I'll end up spending the most time in. -
Awesome dancing penguin!

Haha, since I logged off last night, this thread EXPLODED with like 15 new pages But yay for our new home! I'm sure we'll be very happy there And I'm totally gonna fall in line! I don't really care what server we end up on anyway, I'm in a splendid mood, so this time, I'm not gonna let any forum quarrels drag that down! I won't be playing in beta, but I'll see you all on Beslaid at launch! :cheer: :cheer: :cheer: :moogle: :moogle: :moogle:
-
Yeah, thanks for all the hard work and for putting all of this together :cheer:
-
Yeah, I voted Lindblum too. I don't really care where we end up anyway

Trying to avoid certain things doesn't necessarely have anything to do with being embarassed or shy about what you do though. I'm proud to roleplay, and I have absoultely no intention of hiding it. I used to wear sort of gothic style clothes in highschool, and no matter how little I cared about the negative comments I got, it doesn't mean I wouldn't have prefered that it didn't include the threat of a serious beating from a couple of rockers. To me, avoiding people like /b/ or SKUM or the Goons has nothing to do with being a roleplayer and everything to do with simply not wanting to play with those types of people (yes, I know the Goons can be fun to hang around, it's just an example since I know they've been mentioned before ). I know there'll be idiots on all servers, but that doesn't mean we have to seek them out. That being said, I completely agree with your point! We should NOT be ashamed, and we should not be trying to hide. And as I said in another thread, I'm sure it won't be a big problem no matter what. In general I agree with you, I really do. I just wanted to explain at least my own reasoning for wishing to avoid certain people, and it has nothing to do with being a roleplayer.

Ah, delicious nerd rage *nods*
-
... Really? I agree that it's not a big problem, but I still think you're overreacting a lot. So far, I haven't seen anyone showing any sign of panic about griefers, just expressing a wish to roll on a different server, which I think is personally very fair. I think you're reading too much into things.
-
Hmm, think I'm gonna holy my vote a bit. Anyone know if it's /b/ planning on rolling on Lindblum? I agree with Armi that if it's anyone else, it doesn't really matter. I agree that finding a low-medium population server should be priority, but since that's impossible to know until several months for now, just going with it and gettting the best out of it is the best option I think

One thing I've always thought was sort of funny is that people seem to be sort of split in two: Either you hit on female chars, believing them all to be actual girls, or you think all female chars are guy because there obviously are no female gamers. I think even on this forum (maybe even in this thread?), someone said "I'm gonna assume that all Miqo'te are males until proven otherwise". That is sort of funny to me, since it seems like quite a lot of the Miqo'te players are are female, myself included. One thing that has always annoyed me a bit though, is the idea that a girl playing a female char must mean that it will be an extremely girly and cutesy character, and that girls playing male chars are cooler, because they don't want said cute character. Not all girls are obsessed with being cute
-
Yeah, girls are no longer as rare as some people would like the believe ^^ Especially not among roleplayers, there always seem to be a lot of chicks
-
I designed Seraj in mainly "golden" colors exactly with this in mind ^^. She's definitely not meant to be cutesy, which is why slightly more feral options in the character creation would have been nice, but oh well. And Malrend: Weremoths would be AWESOME!

i'm afraid I share Noëlle's fear. While it's true that cats are completely different, it seems like a lot of catgirls from other places follow more or less the same mold of a cutesy, young girl, adding "Nya" after every sentence, wearing a bell collar, etc. I'm hoping it will be different among the roleplayers here, but we'll see.
-
Hehe, despite how it may have come out in my post, I actually quite like the Miqo'te too, they have a nice bodyshape and I like having a tail, though not necessarely a cat tail. And yeah, the catgirls are taking over the world :cat:

Expect the Unexpected (Unknown Musical Tastes)
Kashemia replied to Trizzip's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Hehe, I've had my Last.fm account since I was in highschool, and wasn't scrobbling for several years when I started college, so it's still much more influenced by what I listened to when I was younger, than what I listen to now: 1: Sentenced 2: The Ark (Swedish glam pop/rock) 3: Atlantis (Danish musical) 4: Nightwish 5: 1996 London Studio Cast (Jesus Christ Superstar) 6: Queen 7: Gackt 8: Andrew Lloyd Webber 9: Original Cast Starlight Express 10: System of a Down 11: Marilyn Manson 12: Benny Anderson/Tim Rice/ Björn Ulvaeus 13: Shock Treatment 14: Stephen Schwartz (Wicket) 15: Peter Spies, Thomas Høg (More of the Danish musical, just from a different CD <.<) It's actually sort of interesting for me to see. Some of it is actually still pretty accurate of what I listen to, some if it I wonder why isn't higher placed, but I guess it's because I wasn't scrobbling when I listened a lot to it. -
Ah, the underdog symptom. Yeah, every wants to be the underdog, the unpopular choice, etc. I have it like that in many ways, until Aion... The discussion on wether Elyos or Asmodean were the underdogs just got so redicilous that I more or less stopped giving a damn, and now I try to just play what I feel like, regardless of the popularity. A few years back, it would have bugged me that Miqo'te are so popular. Now, as long as I don't feel like I look identical to every other Miqo'te I see, I couldn't care less.

Just a few more days and this will ALL be over At least for me, I'm having my bf over for 2 weeks, so I doubt I'll be spending much time on the computer until launch. So good luck to the rest of you. And can I have a piece of that pie? Since the cake IS obviously a lie

Why are people so upset about this? Isn't the most important thing that we end up on the same server? Then it's up to us to make THAT server a great, growing roleplay server, no matter what name. I really think it's a shame if something like this put a split in the community. Come on people, we're supposed to be a community, let's try to BE a community instead of bickering among ourselves.
-
Just to join the choir, you are SO right about this. The voices was pretty close to making me roll another race as well. I'm also slightly disappointed by the fact that almost all Miqo'te seems overly cutesy, but that might also be a choice from the creators side, at least I got relatively happy with Seraj, even though a bit more feral look could have been nice ^^
-
Sounds good Castiel!

I'm gonna go ahead and say that I didn't chose Miqo'te because they're hot. Huyr and Elezen females can be just as hot in my opinion, as well as male from various races... (Sorry, Lalafells might be cute, but not hot in my book). I chose Miqo'te because it seemed to fit the personality I had in mind and because I thought their design and lore seemed interesting. I was originally going Keeper of the Moon, but realized that Seeker of the Sun fits Seraj SO much better, so I changed that. I usually stay away from playing catgirls, but seeing as they're actually in the lore, I figured it should be possible to play a relatively reasonable one this time around, so I guess it was also a bit of a challenge to myself, to overcome some of my own prejudices

Very cute There sadly isn't a grey/red eye option though Would be cool if there was ^^

Yeah, my Geforce GTX260 was apparently not enough either, and as far as I know, it's a pretty good card (it was number 10 or so on the list over the best graphic cards a few weeks back). So I'm guessing they might have set the par a tiny bit high.
