He looks pretty cool! I love the mob design in this game. And yeah, there are plenty of ways to harass people, and roleplayers are usually an easy group to disturb, simply by interrupting the roleplay.

Not dangerous as much as a nuisance. They're usually doing what they can to grief people, including roleplayers. In AoC for instance, they locked down one of the low level questhubs completely for several days, killing every lowlevel player trying to get in, until a group of highlevel roleplayers got enough and crushed them ^^

No, hence the "I think it would be a good idea to avoid the server where they are" I'd much prefer not being on the same server as them, definitely!

Hehe, I have a friend, who's a goon, that I met through RP, so you're definitely right about that I think it would be a good idea to try to end on a different server than them, but if we DO end on the same server, I'm sure we can handle it, and as people say, they might get bored quickly

I passed Min easily, but not recommended. But I discovered that I have a RAM more than I thought. Who knew?

I agree, being annoyed with your char isn't always a bad thing ^^ Just means that you've given him/her enough of a personallity to not just play on your own, but to do and say things that isn't just what you would do/say.

When I roleplay, time is usually flexible. If I spend several hours roleplaying, it's gonna be hard to explain that my character hung out at a bar for many days. I just don't see way of doing it completely consistent, so time will be depending on what is happening, what I'm doing, what the people I'm with thinks, etc.

Yeah, it's been crazily windy here today as well. I had hopen I could avoid getting soaked when I had to go to work, but I had to give up on the umbrella after 2 min <.< And yeah, there's not many EU players so far, but we're awesome! Or.. Something...

Oh yes, me too, many times. Probably because quite a few of my characters really are pretty annoying <.< I've once had to retcon a char a bit (it was only beta, so I was just testing her out really), because the way she ended up was way too far from what I had intended, and not something I was interested in playing. It usually takes a rp session or more to really figure out if my character work. After that, she pretty much takes her own life, yeah <.<

Ah, sorry, I think I misunderstood a bit then But my post wasn't really targeted at you, just the concern of emotes in general. I sadly can't comment much on the emote system in FFXI, as I didn't really play it much. But yeah, I can see what you mean.

I'm hoping that they get the CE earlier so we can go pick it up...

I can live with updates, but it took 1½ day to download just the beta version of the game. If I have to go through the entire installation the same way, I'm gonna cry :cry:

I know a lot of roleplayers think that the lack of an implemented custom emote system are a big deal, but I never really understood it. It usually works almost as good to just type *does xx*, or as Asyria descriped, write the emote in general and then add the speach in "". Sure, it's easier to see if the emotes are a different color, but that's about it, it's not a bigger deal than that. It's not like it's impossible to rp without the custom emotes WAR was horrible for roleplay (you couldn't even sit or walk), and I still had some of the most fun in rp there. So I'm sure creative people like roleplayers can find away around it

Well, it might also be to slow people down. If the game is currently focused more on the levelling process rather than endgame, it makes sense for them to add things like this to make sure it takes a while for people to hit endgame rather than having it done in a week.

Well, we will hopefully have CD-roms at the time to download from, at least that's what I'm hoping. If I have to download it all from scratch, I will probbly not be able to play at all during those extra 8 days we get from the CE <.< But yeah, I agree that we need to keep it simple. There will be people complaining no matter what you do, so just chose your way and stick with it. It only gets really confusing if you start changing it because someone complains. It's better to stick with your gun
