  1. I'd go ahead and try it as a marauder! I did Tam-Tara yesterday with the slowest marauder tank in existence - but no matter how slow he was to react to...well, everything, he still managed to hold aggro. Looks like they have some nice AoE! We also had an archer who liked to pull EVERYTHING and the healer kept using an annoying knockback on our main target which was a pain for me, as a lancer...I'd have been more annoyed if I were the tank, though. Are you on the PS3 or the PC? I find I'm a little too nervous about tanking on the PS3 because I -still- can't get a hang of the targeting...I cycle through about four NPC/Pet targets and several targets that i'm not even in combat with before I get to the one I'm actually trying to switch to. D:
  2. Hopefully that'll go off soon. As I keep mentioning just to cover my ass - I'm in the EU, I log on at some horrible morning hour to you guys (I think) and I spot no end of AFKers just idling ingame. Which would be fair enough, but...I log out and in from time to time during the day. Say, five or six hours later and they're STILL there. Same place. Even though it's not affecting me in the slightest, it's still pretty annoying mostly because I just dislike inconsiderate people like that. I really, really hope they put in an AFK timer - Not only because of this issue now, but also because of the people that just stay logged in and are impossible to communicate with. T_T
  3. Seconded! Even if you weren't serious about that one...
  4. Thanks for the replies, they're much appreciated! I'll look into that linkshell - Thanks for telling me about that one, I'm not sure how I managed to overlook it...I seem to have a talent for missing out on useful threads and links that go straight past my face. D: I finally managed to get that group for Tam-tara and the following dungeon that I have forgotten the name of today, now I'm stuck waiting for Ifrit >.> Even so, feel free to poke me on Korin ingame too, if you find yourselves in need of a DPS! Either way - Thanks again for the responses! I'm quite surprised at how slow the duty finder is, still, considering how early into the game we are...Even as a DPS. It's nice not to have been hit with a sea of "go reroll" responses - I'd rather not throw myself into tanking or healing when I'm still trying to get used to the PS3 interface <3
  5. An AFK kick timer would be nice. There are people who have been idling in the same spot since I logged on this morning, and they're still there now.
  6. Or the "Duty Finder Hates Me" rage thread. Is anyone else trying to get a group for their main quest? I managed to group for the first dungeon due to a stroke of luck but now I'm stuck on Tam-Tara. No queues and I have been lurking more or less all day so far - even calling out in /say to the people outside isn't working. I was hoping to find out if anyone else on Balmung is needing to group up for this, too. I still haven't joined any linkshells and whatnot so I'm a bit isolated and at a loss here! As a side note - Yeah, I tried the public channel to find myself pounced on by a sea of elitist pricks. Not exactly welcoming... I'm being quite quickly reminded why trying out a new MMO by yourself isn't much fun!
  7. Are you on the PC too? I'm still only spotting people on the PC client that are getting these loading screen boots and errors and all sorts... Apparently there are a ton of server issues right now. Fortunately I haven't had those too much since I'm online while most of the NA players are asleep - I hope for your sakes that they're fixed soon, though. It sucks to get home from work and whatnot to load up a new game, especially with MMOs, just to get a LOL ERROR message shunted in your face...
  8. I can second that. I was up and moving before the servers opened, logged on about ten minutes after that and after creating my character, I couldn't make him on Gilgamesh. As a new player I was a little disappointed that I didn't really even have the time to -create- the character before the server filled up. So yeah, it was pretty much 15 minutes after launch. Too many communities jumping in at once. But it's still only day two, and I do reckon that it'll slow down after a while. Hopefully space will free up as people return to work/school/college etc. Some people might just get bored after the first few days. I've joined games before with a few people who tend to quit after the first few days because it wasn't what they thought it'd be. I can be super optimistic here and I'm still checking to see if I can create a character on Gilgamesh when possible, but I suppose I haven't been around these forums for long enough to become particularly attached to one community or the other. I have been in that situation though, and I can understand also why some people would be getting particularly annoyed that they can't get on the server they want to. I don't really like the idea of wasting gametime since I'm not exactly loaded with money here either - The free month is the only month I can afford right now - and to be honest being aware that there are two or three communities that have already aimed for Gilgamesh makes it feel like a bit of a risk to wait and see what happens...
  9. I think that is quite possibly the worst way to come at the people on this thread. People have been here for a variety of reasons and I haven't seen one as problematic as you. Sure, there are some things that are over the top and people can seem a bit too mad at times but this is in no way a good thing to say to already irate people. These people have worked to save up for this game, payed their preorder, played through the beta phases and open beta and then played for the first day of Early Access when we thought these problems would be fix. And I feel that most of their frustration is correctly placed in the right areas though, some aren't. But for you to come in here after so much fuming as been done and people have calmed down is only poking at a bee hive. You aren't contributing to the conversation at all you're only bashing these folks for being frustrated. Let them fume in peace instead of speaking something that gives nothing to any type of conversation here. We are dealing with it and it's great to have this thread so that people bounce ideas off one another about what to do next. The funny posts that have been added to help simmer down the irate mood is great and like I said you're just coming in here to cause trouble. I am also on Valefor but I stopped because I didn't want to have to redo to the same stuff over when and if the servers come back for NA and EU. +1. It's kind of nice having a single rage thread for this kind of thing, to be honest. Much nicer than the official forums that are usually just a sea of "WHY ARE THE SERVERS DOWN" flamefests - I think this thread is pretty tame and reasonable, really. It's nice to have somewhere to go to when the servers flop. Everyone needs to vent sometimes. This sort of thing is kind of normal when a new MMO launches, yes, but it doesn't mean people can't have a good whine about it when it does happen. Regardless of whether we expect it to happen or not! A good rant is fine so long as it doesn't escalate into a conflict.
  10. I'd like to know that too. From what I hear one or two other non-RP communities chose Gilgamesh but folks still wanted to go there, for whatever reason. I've just seen enough communities separated across servers before, and they usually disperse into tiny cliques or they just cease to exist. I'm a little concerned that this Gilgamesh VS might cause something of a conflict. Hopefully not, but I've seen similar situations before - Hopefully the server problem will be resolved soon though.
  11. I admit I can understand why some people wouldn't want to reroll now. I can imagine some people might be left behind too, but I'll be keeping an eye out for an update on these even though I can see it being somewhat unlikely that people will choose to move to Lamia. Although, I'm more against the idea of a third RP server just because of the segregation. Yes, I made it into Balmung but that's probably because i'm an EU player who can log on outside of peak time. It's just a little bit awkward because I'm a little bit of an outsider already, and I'm not really involved in either community yet - But I really do want to try and meet new, likeminded people here. And it's not as easy to do that over three different servers. It was hard enough choosing between Balmung and Gilgamesh, and look what happened there x) I wasn't going to alt on Balmung but there we go. On my part though, if people decide to move to another server then I'll probably throw an alt out there too. Slightly off-topic there. What I really mean to say is, while we might want to move to another server now, I imagine it won't work as well in the future when the population dies down a little. I worry that people are getting frustrated with the server issues and population buggery and all sorts, and this is the result of it? I know I'd probably be losing my temper and jumping to these conclusions too if my logins weren't going so smoothly. ...Though the errors do seem to be occurring more for PC players rather than the Ps3 ones? Or am I mistaken? I haven't had a single error on the PS3. Hopefully all of that makes sense though, it's not making much sense to me now that I read it over...
  12. Uwaaa ;---; Then tomorrow I'll just have to man up and do it, I guess... ...Maybe.
  13. On the topic of the main questline, does it really force you to group up for a dungeon or am I mistaken and have managed to screw up somewhere? Because I'm too much of a wuss to use the duty finder by myself. ;__;
  14. I logged from Balmung just under an hour ago. I had no issues logging on after maintenance (I just relogged a few times and the server list popped up) and when I logged off so my folks could watch a film, I noticed that the server list had died again. I also couldn't create a character on Gilgamesh (still) and I've been trying since launch on that part, so I don't know what's doing on there... I don't know if they're going to open Gilgamesh any time soon, I'm usually lurking after 10am GMT here which I assume is some horrendous morning hour for you guys - No queues on Balmung but Gilgamesh is still a no-go. Still locked out here too, though. Not that i'm bothering to try to log on right now but I'm keeping an eye out.
  15. Alright, I'll try and figure it out tomorrow then! I think I just logged off for the last time today, it might be easier to get back online tomorrow. Hopefully. x)
  16. I'd assume the same. Since I'm an EU player I log on before most people wake up. It wouldn't surprise me that the EU population on these servers is still lower than the NA population since most players who didn't do their research would've rolled on an EU server anyway, to say the least. But yeah, when I log on normally only three servers are locked, and only experience queues/login issues after 6pm onwards or so. With any luck though, the queues will die down a little after the weekend is over, even if the official launch is incoming. People should be going back to work/school/college or whatever, so unless they leave their characters logged in, shouldn't that free up space for some people too? Just a thought!
  17. Not sure how I overlooked this one! I'm still learning how everything works including chat channels, but could I get an invite sometime? I don't really get how to do most of this but it would be nice to chat to some other EU players, It's a bit lonely out here!
  18. Are all of you on the PC? Just curious!
  19. I just kept relogging into the game, eventually the servers popped up. I expected morre issues as an EU player personally... On the bright side, PS3 players can use their usb keyboards to take screenshots! I kept getting a 'failed' notice before, no matter what. Seems it's working now, could just be a coincidence, but there you go. Keep trying though! Perseverance seems to work!
  20. I managd to get in but now I'm getting horrendous latency issues. You know when things are going almost too smoothly...
  21. Back to square one again, it seems the NA/EU list has gone into hiding again! x)
  22. I do go to the inn to log out. More so after witnessing the overwhelming adorable that is the Miqo'te ear/tail animations... I just melted with glee ;_; Same for the walking, too. I also do it to make sure I don't charge into walls when I'm a little sidetracked on the ps3... Gridania is so pretty to walk around in! I love how often it rains - it really reminds me why I went for the ps3 version, I could never admire the scenery on my stone age PC ;_;
  23. Balmung is open if you're early enough, I find it tends to get closed later in the day. Fortunately for me I'm in the UK so when I usually wake up and play there's only about three servers locking me out, Gilgamesh included unfortunately... Even though I do plan to roll my main on Gilgamesh once it's open again. On a side note though, why are people reluctant to roll on legacy servers? Being completely new to the game - I wasn't even in the beta - I don't see what the problem is. I'm currently on Balmung levelling an alt and I've had no trouble thus far. But that said, I generally have no idea what is going on and I'm just going through the usual quest/hand in/repeat motions. I don't even know what half of the chat options are, nor do I really understand the linkshell stuff. Not to mention I can't access Skype without moving to the PC - Same goes for the forums here, so I'm pretty isolated ingame anyway (Side note, I'm Korin Relanah on Balmung! Feel free to poke me if you -do- roll there!) Before I start rambling off-topic again though, yeah, pretty much what most people have said. If you don't want to wait, rolling on Balmung won't hurt, right? Personally I don't like the idea of the RP community being split further than it already is. x) It's a fun little community on Balmung already and the starter zones aren't horribly overcrowded like I had expected.
  24. +1 to that. I was dead set against watching Attack on Titan and then a friend of mine just said "You like it when they're well-animated, don't you?" Now i'm eagerly awaiting the next episode. ;___;
  25. I imagine as people have said (I think?) that it will start to open up to new characters as people level out of the starting zones. I was up and lurking pretty soon after the headstart opened up myself and I couldn't snag a place on Gilgamesh either - We'll just have to be patient and hope for the best.
