  1. For good or ill, I'd honestly say that they can add whatever event based cosmetic items they want and it's no big deal. Does it get irksome and immersion breaking to see someone run by in a bizarrely out of place outfit? Yes, sometimes. Really, though, any time you go out to PVE, you're like as not to encounter people wearing amalgamations of varying sets anyway. Adding things just for fun doesn't make much more of a difference by comparison. Just my two Gil.
  2. I'll go ahead and step out of my comfort zone and sign Mholi Mujuuk up for number two! I'll get Nihka to make sure I know what I'm doing, though. >_>
  3. This is a drinking game I devised after much deliberation (about ten minutes) in order to make PUG dungeons more interesting. Get your favorite drink and something you can take shots of (nobody actually likes shots, don't lie) and get to it. Queue up, Eorzea! (That all being said, know your limits! Also please don't drink if you're underage, if you have health problems which could be affected, or if you're going to be driving. Stay safe, the queue to get back into Earth is way worse than DPS soloing!) Tanks: •If you die, take a drink. •Every time DPS complains about aggro without following kill order, take a drink. •If you lose aggro with everyone ON kill order, take a shot. •If the healer dies with aggro, take a shot. •If you lose aggro to Eos, take a shot. (If Eos survives and holds aggro, take another shot) DPS: •If the tank fails to mark kill order against a group of more than three, take a drink. •If you strip aggro off the tank despite following kill order, take a drink. (If the tank is 10+ ilvl above you, finish your drink) •If the tank positions a boss with its back to a damage or kill mechanic (e.g. lava) take a drink. (If playing MNK or DRG, take a shot) •If you consistently pull and hold aggro for 3 or more pulls, finish your drink Healers: •Every time you see "Duty Commenced", take a drink. (Just in case) •Every time someone stands in an AoE, take a drink. •If the tank dies, take a drink. •If the tank elects to speedrun without telling the party, take a shot. •Every time someone runs out of casting range take a shot. (x2 if they run INTO an AoE) •SCH- If Eos strips aggro off the tank, take a drink. •WHM- If you run out of MP, take a drink.
  4. The very best guild to me was back in EQ, Mithaniel's Mirth on the Erollisi Marr server. It was the guild my Father played with, along with family friends from real life. They are the ones who made it possible for a kid who really wasn't old enough to be playing on his own to learn the ropes in a safe, welcoming environment. I hope they never learn what they unleashed on the MMO world stopped being awesome. As for FFXIV, Mysterium represent! Definitely a great group of friends who have kept me from letting my sub expire at least once!
  5. As someone still learning the language, I prefer using JP audio almost exclusively as a sort of study tool. I think that the EN voices have improved, and so have the JP, but it's a good chance to work on my listening comprehension. The subs help with FF related words and as a spot check. That being said, I honestly believe it should be as simple as "I listen to X because I like it."
  6. I tend to get swept up in scenes or even just conversation at times, so recently about 2 am is bedtime on work nights, then I'm up at 7 or 7:30 at the latest. I regret it only in the same way that I regret eating too much good food and having too much to drink. That is to say, "Only for the first hour or two the next morning."
  7. Sazhi'to would drop: Historian's Spectacles : "A pair of well worn spectacles. The frame seems to be made of a bendable alloy to accommodate archivists of any race." ~ (DoM - INT, MND, PIE) Cracked Cactuar Earring : "This decorative seedkin is mising a limb." ~ (Glamor item) Sazhi'to Bajhiri Tripple Triad card : ULDR: 6464 Rare- Insomnia : "A heavy black leather tome, embossed with silver inlay. The pages are completely filled with impressively small handwritimg. Whether or not most of it is legible..." ~ (SCH/SMN tome - INT, MND, Crit, Crit Chance - Black and silver cover, inside the pages are almost completely black with tiny lettering. Faint blue glow effect with green runes in the fashion of the Book of Diamons/Spades ) A Treatise on the Tactics of the Scholars of Nym During the War of the Magi : "This huge tome is nearly as thick as it is high, and the gold leaf title takes up almost the whole cover." ~ (Housing item. When activated it opens and produces several motes of light imitating SCH fairies in miniature)
  8. Again, that building deco looks familiar. Is that Lebanon-Lancaster? Crownsville, actually. But I've seen that deco at a few different locations at least here in the north east US.
  9. Ok I give. The first time I saw this thread I slunk past before anyone noticed me, but I'll share this time because I'm bored everyone is being brave enough to set an example! Ranger gear at RenFest! [spoil]http://i.imgur.com/mNk6vfe.jpg[/img][/spoil] I don't have the blue anymore, but I miss it sometimes! 10. Sazhi'to doesn't exactly mind handshakes or a brief pat on the arm or shoulder, but he does prefer to stick to bowing. Physical contact with anyone for him is a sign of deep trust from him, and aside from K'hane there are only perhaps a half dozen people wirh that level of trust. Public displays of affection used to bother him even when they didn't involve him, but now he simply flushes and looks politely away. Mholi takes her personal space deadly seriously. Unwanted contact of any kind is likely to start a fight, verbal or physical, and particularly if the offender is male. Paradoxically if she trusts someone enough to touch them herself, she hardly bats an eyelash at even being hugged in public.
  11. Sazhi'to lost most of his family during the Calamity, and was under the impression that ALL of them had in fact been killed until several years later. 1) Denial: He kept telling himself that without recovered bodies, there was no reason to think anyone had been killed. You can't arbitrarily pronounce a missing person dead, after all. If he just kept helping the Arcanists' Guild with the rebuilding and healing, he would find word of at least someone. 2) Anger: Neither an easy nor common emotion for Sazhi'to, he felt the rage that all Eorzeans had over what the Garleans had done, but also some anger at himself for not being skilled enough to have joined his family on the front lines nor quick enough to return to his family in the Black Shroud. 3) Bargaining: Shortly after the Calamity Sazhi'to began to pester his teachers about ways to track down survivors. He was told to simply be patient and do whatever he could to help those around him, and the good he did would be seen and rewarded by the Twelve. Although unsure, Sazhi'to took that to heart and began studying anything and everything he could. 4) Depression: Three moons of fixing fishing nets, repairing cracked cook-pots, and reading when he wasn't doing other myriad odd-jobs with no word of any family having somehow survived began to take a toll on him. Sazhi'to found that no matter how hard he tried, there was still no result, and as soon as he began to accept that he was the last of his family he began having vivid nightmares. All of his self-loathing which he had pushed through came back full force with each nightmare, and he would be unable to sleep for days after. Eventually he simply stopped sleeping until he would pass out wherever he sat. 5) Acceptance: It took being found by the wizards of the Tower for him to finally begin to accept that he needed to move on with his life. However reluctantly. What truly set him on the path to peace with his loss was meeting his mentor, and eventual life-mate K'hane. As if just beginning to accept things was enough to set the rest in motion, it was not long before he learned that his sister and cousin had, in fact, survived and been in similar situations of isolation to himself.
  12. Because it would still be an amazing game. [spoil][/spoil]
  13. I prefer voice chat for raids as its faster and easier to hit a hotkey to call out mechanics as well as dodge them. If you're wasting time typing, you risk being hit and dragging the rest of the party down with you. Don't be that guy. If its that much of an issue start your own voice-free static instead of complaining and expecting the group to cater to you. Voice chat as a replacement for FC/LS chat is weird though, I'll give you that. Sorry to hear you're having problems with somebody trying to raid like that. it sucks when someone goes off on people for no good reason. I usually assume it's a lack of paying attention... not quite sure how raids fit into my description of "taking your time" but a fair point none the less.
  14. Do daily dungeon roulette runs count? No but really, cleaning the bathroom yeah. Going to run the shower anyway, right?
