oh lookie, it's a 1.0 Tessa. I meant to give comment on this last time i saw it about... a month ago? i'm quite flattered that you drew her in your random selection hehe~ stumbled on it by way of google.

i see it as complimentary skills. So for instance, a good archer would want to be well trained in some form of close range combat aswell. Vice versa for someone who's versed in the art of the blade, having a bow at their command would be vital for targets beyond blade's reach. Tessa for example, was trained in Gladiatorial swordplay, and became a free paladin of eorzea, but she also trained long and hard to become adept with a bow. Lending to her paladin abilities, she's dabbled with conjury, but only really has minor ability in it.

Thank you everyone who attended the party, it was a huge success and thoroughly enjoyed. Special thanks to Xenedra, who managed to make it at the end and shared her beautiful story about Menphina and Oschon with everyone.))

=D final bump! Event begins in 15 minutes!

((bumping for reminder, Event is this saturday. Still need some volunteers who want to hide for hide and seek, and donations for possible prizes too. =3))

Way back when i was truly ready to first delve into RP in the game, i joined Sanctus Refero, after experiencing enough lore to feel ready to truly be a living breathing being in the world of Hydelyn, I thought that the heavy RP nature, and tight comradery of The Eorzean Guard was going to be a perfect fit for me, having met a few of them during my small amounts of roleplay. Now, i know this is opinions of Everwatch, but since Everwatch is the same group as Eorzean Guard was, and uses the same application process currently, i figure i'll put my own experience down. The RP is absolutely fine, some people have a bit of a snobbishness about their person sometimes in regards to their RP vs other's, but no-one's innocent in that regard, even i do it sometimes. The Application process however, was the reason my opinion of EG was permanently soured. I spent a great deal of time planning out a character that would be easy to enjoy and play, someone who could be exploring the world just as i was, rather than just being ignorant of her surroundings, regardless of having grown up in them, so i made her come from one of the multitudes of islands that are outside of Eorzean territory but close enough for her to get there. I wrote a fairly lengthy application for the amount of information i was able to use at the time. And Oskar was the first to respond to my app, and swiftly too. I raced to the page to see what was said, perhaps an IC interview would be set up to see how i work in a proper IC setting? Nope. Immediately, i was being bombarded with questions about my outlander origin, fair enough i thought, as it can be done poorly sometimes, and clearing things up is certainly needed. I replied, clearing up the questions asked, and checked back the next day. More questions, deeply probing my back story. Issues were being brought up, such as Tessa's sister being a Seeker of the sun, and Tessa herself being a keeper of the moon. (the player of her sister simply liked the seekers better). I made a semi plausible reason for it, simply saying that their family heritage was mixed, and as twins, they simply embodied the more extreme sides of their blood. Worked well enough. But no, not done here! Yet more probing! My real life gender in relation to Tessa was brought up, i was actually asked, if as a male IRL, could i play a realistic female character? I mean seriously... why? What reason was there behind this? This single question started to annoy me, i'd answered everything so far with a calm and reasoned mind, but this one simply boiled me. Yes, i could, i had been playing characters of all genders, races, and backgrounds for years in various settings. I'd never encountered an application process so aggravating. I answered, i waited. My outlander background was brought up again, Oskar felt that coming to Eorzea by boat wasn't a fitting method for introducing her, and suggested i was from one of the many hamlets. At this point, i politely withdrew my application, and joined Corvus Cinis the next day instead. And at the time i honestly just felt Oskar was being a dick to be a dick, and wished nothing to do with him. I've changed my mind on that account for the most part Oskar, though i still feel sometimes you can be very... Polarizing. I've since roleplayed with EG/Everwatch on a few small occasions, bumping into them on their rounds, at some events, and via Oskar's connection to Alothia, we've worked cross shell a few times aswell. I really do just think they way you recruit harms more than benefits. Or at least, it did with me.

i Second Kass's feelings on the links. They're like vampires, they're not supposed to sparkle D:

Tessa Jalloh important information the game can't portray: very short, easily half Alothia's height. 32B cup bust, skinny and lithe rather than curvy and voluptuous. pretty much the cute moe teen type character you see in most high school anime. Has a very large scar running from the back of her right shoulder, over her spine and stopping just above her left bumcheek. has a Tattoo in a delicate area, though it says it'll be obscured, i figured i'd show you so if the covering is only minimal you'll be able to have part of it visible =D (NSFW image) [spoil][/spoil] And... i think that's it.

having used a dice based system in other environments i actually rather support this method of combat. definately easier than loading up internet rock paper scissors, which is how i've done it a few times before After all, even the most experienced people have an off day, it's all about how you write yourself around your rolls. Maybe doing an expansion like Warhammer would be good. roll /random: if over 30 = hit roll again, if over 30 = wound Enemy rolls, if over 30 = armor save to prevent the wounding. That way you can back and forth until someone recieves a wound. Perhaps a 3 strike wounding ends the battle.

I personally would highly disagree and discourage telling people /not/ to talk on the intermission pearl, since as I always understood it, at it's inception, the Out of Character shell was meant to be a place for all RPers from multiple shells to be able to come together and socialise. This socialisation breeds community that makes it easier for people to break past that barrier that some people find they have that prevents them from just rping with strangers. The ability to be comfortable with the people you're rping is really important. The sudden change in the shell's tone would probably put a lot of people off aswell. I mean, i haven't got any particular use for a shell where people should keep chat to the minimum of asking about events and organising rp. Nothing stops people from doing that now, and they often do. Heck, i've been rping with a LOT more people thanks to the out of character/Intermission pearl than I did without it, simply because i find a like speaking to the people there.

Well, before reading the thread proper, i voted 8, due to the word of mouth 8esaid deal going on both ingame and on a few community forums i've visited. Though 9 has Torn way ahead with the votes in this poll. If however SE decide to go with their option 2, i don't have anything to worry about eh~? cept pestering my friends on other worlds to get their friends to come with them to us!
