Kylin

As I've recently written out one of my primary characters, I can now more easily devote time to my other two (Kylin and Zarik). Zarik's focus point was originally meant to be around his older brother. However, the player who took on that role has been consistently unable to devote any time to such and quit the game entirely about a month or two ago, leaving me and the character pretty high and dry. Thus, I come here to begin my search for someone else to take on the role. This makes me extremely worrisome, as I'm very hesitant to pick up someone for the role who I don't even know. As such, I doubt it'll be an immediate decision. The following criteria are what I'm looking for: --Character must be a miqo'te male seeker, older than 17 years of age. Preferably a primary character over an alt (primary meaning in this sense a character who gets a lot of IC and OOC attention from the player rather than a simple alt that shows up once every couple weeks or so). --Player must be active in game on a regular basis, and also active with RPing in general. My personal definition of 'active' in this sense is logging into the game at least 3-4 times a week for durations of over one hour each session (and willing to focus on RP and not just dungeons/raids during that logged in time). Obviously, real life circumstances may impede on this every once and awhile, but if it's ALWAYS impeding on this type of schedule, it could be a problem. It was the primary issue with the previous player who played the role. On this same notion, hopefully the player is content with FFXIV and likes the general direction its going (as I'm super worried the new player will quit after awhile too and once again screw me over ). --Player must be willing to join Crystalline RP shell (Balmung), as that's where Zarik has been/will be situated. In turn, I can also have Zarik join whatever RP shell the brother character is in. This is all stuff that would be worked out in advance obviously. --Myself and player must have some degree of chemistry, and the sibling characters must as well obviously. This will be tested in a couple of preliminary RP sessions as schedules allow. --The older brother miqo'te character is free to have whatever current background he currently has (though will obviously have to be open to tweaking who the mother/father of the character is). As it's too late for me to retcon the previous sibling entirely, the new siblings' relationship will be revealed in a side story of some sort rather than having always existed. By that, I mean that Zarik and older miqo'te do not know they're brothers yet and it will be revealed via some sort of RP worked out between the two of us. If this is something someone thinks they'd be interested in, please let me know in some manner or another. I have to stress again though that I'm super hesitant to seek for someone like this, as I've been burned so many times now in this department. So please be patient with me and don't take offense if I think we wouldn't be a good sibling match. Update: Elza Ashfen is no longer an active character of mine after her grand finale event last night that led to her final exit from Eorzea in a typical dramatic Felstar fashion. A Tonberry Lantern article will likely be coming in the next few days to explain the situation ICly. Kylin loves physical contact, and often even secretly craves it. There are numerous occasions he's flirted with someone and touched them on the shoulder/chest even if when he knows the other person is completely uninterested (lolFenix). Part of this is likely due to the fact that he had no mother growing up, and thus missed out on a lot of the physical aspects of 'love.'

[align=center][/align] Dearest RPC, It's been four years now. Four years since this RP community launched with a tiny following and turned into the behemoth that it is today. Despite the rocky launch of 1.0, there seems to be no slowing down now. Activity on the site is beyond any expectations, and RP in game can be found easily on a daily basis. None of these accomplishments would be possible without the strong support from all of you. Together, we've made FFXIV's Rp community a thriving environment where endless stories unfold. Some linkshells have crumbled over this time, while new linkshells have formed. Old faces have disappeared, new ones have come. But the RPC is still here and as strong as ever, and always ready to welcome the old and new alike with open arms. The community itself moves forward at full speed every day. I still recall the difficulty in starting this community up all those years ago. Getting Rpers together is truly like herding cats. The challenges that went into getting this place off the ground remain an unforgettable journey. We've evolved so much since our original gathering forum. I remember the first ever linkshells going live with their teasers. I remember our brief attempt to convert the site to full flash. I remember when we first tried to organize under a controversial 'charter' that was later abolished after numerous political heated debates: I remember the amazing server vote that made Balmung (previously known as Besaid) our first home. I remember the RPCV podcast we used to have. I remember the numerous evolutions in which the forums went through to get to the sleek layout it became today. I remember the first fashion show...the first storytelling event...the first gala...the first auction...and so many more amazing events. I remember the tons of talented artwork that's been posted over the years, and the amazing community oriented art projects. I remember the gathering of tons of screenshots for the 2 year anniversary video: I remember all of this and so much more, including our transition into A Realm Reborn and the addition of Gilgamesh as a designated RP server. There is no shortage of history here. Some of it was filled with laughs. Some with drama. But it's all made the community so much stronger and capable of surviving anything. Four years is a pretty massive landmark, and it's one we just hit together. Thanks to everyone for their role in helping to build what we see today. This is my last official day as RPC admin. In approximately 24 hours from this post, I will be completely removed from all administrative aspects of this site. Thank you all for your continued support up until now, and I hope that support continues for FreelanceWizard. This has been an amazing four year journey that I wouldn't take back for anything. Welcome back. You've had quite an impact on numerous characters out there and I'm sure you've heard all manners of updates about that during your downtime

I'd like to ask that everyone please refrain from personal attacks, as I've now seen quite a number of them. That being said, I will have to respectfully agree with the overall sentiments/concerns being shared about this event. When it comes to the culture of a RP community, revealing one's real life gender (or other real life details) specifically for an event is fairly taboo. Part of RP is about temporarily removing oneself from reality, and such requirements are counterintuitive to that in that it literally eradicates the line between IC and OOC. So I can certainly understand why many are taking this issue as a jab against RPers in general. It's very difficult for RPers to view an event like this as a RP event at all. Regardless, good luck with the community-wide event. Just be prepared that you're bound to get quite a few non-RP griefers based on how it was advertised in general.

You'll have to change your username here via the control panel to get rid of the underscore. There's an option in the user control panel on the left side in the menu. Edit: There is a coding fix for this problem available to avoid username changes. But I do not have the time to complete it right now. I will probably look into it next week or sometime after, or if I'm still short on time, pass the code off to Freelance to fix it.

As Xenedra stated, there are presently no plans to add additional forum sections for server discussion. This was brought up awhile back during the initial talks over the server debate and it was made clear at the time that the events section was as far as we'd go. In fact, I had actually considered initiating a discussion to do the exact opposite and remove the current Gilgamesh forum sections due to the revelations made post-LS roll call. However, I decided that this kind of discussion may be best saved for a few more months down the road instead, to see if the bigger picture looks different than it presently does.

As has been announced awhile ago, I have been planning to step down from the admin role for some time. Today is the day that I announce my replacement for the position, along with all other details relevant to the situation. First and foremost, let me reiterate that my stepping down still has nothing at all to do with any kind of dramatics anywhere or with anyone. My passion for running this site has simply withered to extremely low levels and I feel the community requires someone at the helm who is more energetic. I also want to take a brief moment to lay out the game plan going forward. I will remain on as the site's primary admin until February 16th, when I will relinquish complete and total control of the site to the new admin. Those with any historical knowledge about this site will recognize that as being the day after our four year anniversary for the site's founding. Up until then, I will focus on transitioning the new admin into their role and making them feel comfortable with all the site directories and whatnot. Unfortunately, there's only so much that can be done to stop spam on large forums like this. Doing too much more can start to impede on the rest of the users (such as forcing them to put in a code every time they post, changing user posting permissions that would make life difficult for newbies, etc). So the only thing that can be done is at the registration screen for the most part. There's a security question (related to FFXIV common knowledge) as well as an image verification. While there are other measures that could be taken, such measures would impede on other users more than necessary and I'd rather avoid taking the SE approach of punishing others for the actions of a few spammers here and there. We do promptly delete such posts though and encourage people to report them immediately if we don't see it right away.

The RPC's 4 year anniversary is fast approaching! We'll be celebrating on February 15th. As has already been stated in a previous announcement, I will be stepping down from the admin role shortly thereafter. I really wanted to start working on a 4 year anniversary tribute video for the community to commemorate the anniversary appropriately, but realized that my time and energy were just too limited to accomplish this. So I turn to all of you! I've decided to hold an RPC tribute video contest for the entire community to take part in~ In this manner, we'll get numerous tribute videos instead of just one. But the grand winner will get a special prize! Here's the numerous ways you can help! If you want to make a video for submission: --Deadline is February 8th to make a submission. Submissions must be sent to ME privately. They will then be all posted up all together on February 15th. A community vote will be held for the 'best' one and that one will be declared the winner. What does the winner get you say? Free art of their character of course (assuming willing artists volunteer between now and February)! --All video footage and/or screenshots should primarily focus on A Realm Reborn. Anything from 1.0 should be extremely limited and only used if absolutely necessary (as in to show the community's evolution). --The tribute videos should NOT focus on just your character. It should focus on the community at large. --All content should be appropriate for this site. Anything deemed inappropriate will be disqualified upon being sent to me. --Take your time, have fun, and ASK for help (whether it be for screenshots, information about past events, etc). Be creative! If you want to help but don't have video skills: --Post screenshots (preferably ones with numerous RPers in them) in the Gallery for potential usage by the video makers. Alternatively, if you have a separate gallery already, you can post the link in this thread for reference. Linkshell/company gallery links would be very appreciated as well! --If you're an artist, I'd appreciate your volunteering for offering your services to the winner to draw their character. I've been in Intermisson since version 1.0 of the game. And while I may not utilize it much myself personally, I listen in on a lot of what happens over it. Sorry, but I never see the things you've claimed to see, OP. I'm going to take a guess and say the problem may come down to your own take on things moreso than any shell in its entirety. You have stated previously that you have the same problem everywhere you go, including other MMO's. Does that not indicate that perhaps you're doing something wrong (like being overly aggressive, godmoding, and/or not trying hard enough)? It's hard to believe that the ENTIRE RP community in every MMO is in the wrong. I'd suggest examining your own behavior and trying to see what you could possibly be doing wrong, rather than blame everyone else around you. You're more than welcome to make your own OOC linkshell. But doing so at the expense of trashing others is not acceptable. When making a new linkshell or trying to recruit for one, simply sell what it is. Don't use other linkshells as a base for what it isn't. I see RP everywhere I go in passing. So I have a hard time taking anyone seriously when they say they can't find it anywhere. I'd highly advise joining a RP linkshell (not an OOC one, an IC one) that's compatible with your character and with you, and starting your network building and character development there. Sometimes it's not the best route to just attempt RPing with anyone and everyone you stumble across, because not everyone shares the same RP styles.

As part of the RPC's ongoing efforts to keep things up-to-date, we are holding a month long roll call for RP linkshells/companies. What this means is that groups have 1 month from the time of this post to publicly state in this thread that their linkshell is still active. Should a linkshell or company not respond within the time frame, we will consider them inactive and remove their ads from the Linkshell Hall in order to keep the list updated for ease of use on newer incoming RPers. Just a heads up that tomorrow (Nov 11th) marks the anniversary for Dalamud's descent and Bahamut's rampage. Can you believe it's been a full year since the 1.0 version servers went down and the epic finale took place? This is just something to keep in mind tomorrow when you're out and about RPing~
