  1. Let me know what time you're usually online, and I'll try to catch you. I've searched for your name a few times but came up with nothing, too. I myself am online now (at this hour, however, it's rare) and I am almost always online after 5PM EST until something like 1AM EST or so. I tend to rotate between Rhesh Awanah, Elissa Vermont and Ethne Lancaster. At the moment I'm on as Elissa.
  2. I had a post eaten last night and we managed to narrow it down to three words: good idea after If those three appear one after the other in your post, the entire thing gets eaten. The post itself was much larger, but I kept splitting it in two until we finally managed to isolate the pesky problem part. It doesn't have anything to do with money, so we have no idea why those three words keep getting caught in the filter. I tried adding a dash to it: "g-ood idea after", no dice. My LS all tried typing it in various chats and invariably the post got eaten. (The context was something along the lines of "Biting down into that leather strap was a good idea after all.")
  3. This is completely at odds with the one NPC that says Gridania-Horizon took 'a single turn of the sun' on chocobo. It's safe to assume we should be ignoring what NPCs say and just going with whatever headcanon we'd like (provided everyone involved is on the same page).
  4. Minor thing, but the Miqo'te reporter NPC for parts 3 and 4 of the Lightning event, Kipih Jakkya, has a name that follows Keeper conventions and is very obviously a Seeker in appearance (you can see the slitted pupils clearly in part 3's turn-in cutscene).
  5. Please read my other posts.
  6. I'm not implying the world is small. On the contrary, I said worlds that small wouldn't even have enough gravity (for the planet to sustain life). I'm saying the game implies the world is small - due to technical restrictions more than anything.
  7. Through mining and botany it's actually possible to estimate the size of each area and they are tiny. The gate to Ul'dah is only 360 yalms/yards (a fifth of a mile) from the ore in Copperbell Mines, which means the entire Western Thanalan area would span maybe just above a mile diagonally. D| I just refuse to believe the world is really that small. It makes no sense. Squeenix sucks at distance and that's it. It's not that they suck at distance so much as the fact they just can't make a huge world - it's not feasible. The size of the areas makes sense considering the amount of time it takes to walk/run from one end to the other, but in terms of anything else, it doesn't. Even if you consider that it's just a tiny portion of Western Thanalan - the distance between Ul'dah and the Castrum in WT being just above a single mile would be ridiculous considering the animosity/tension between the two. The distances aren't supposed to make any sense, really, they're there because of technical restrictions. For better or worse, though, it does mean we have plenty of freedom to decide for ourselves on things like actual distances and travel times, since what the game offers would defy all logic (as would most rpgs where you can travel by air around the world and if you fly off a corner of the map, you end up on the opposite corner - a planet that small wouldn't even have enough of a gravitational pull).

  9. For further insight, a Lalafell NPC in Horizon (next to a sleeping Chocobo) says the trip from Gridania, on chocobo, nonstop, took a day.
  10. Awwwright, here goes nothing. I run a LS called Wings which has an IC premise we seriously almost never use except where convenient. The LS itself is OOC, and a "looking for RP" type deal. The LS has about 50 characters, though perhaps 15 are alts. A few are people who don't log in anymore. Some don't talk in it. Another handful are online rarely. There are about 10-15 of us who are really active, and out of those, most are very active. Online every day, usually chatting/mingling, helping each other out with stuff, you name it. We are always open to new people. Those of us who are active are almost always willing to RP (running dungeons and the like aside). Most of us enjoy character-driven RP. Some of us have posted in this topic already! I should note around 10 of us are currently involved in a little plot involving magical dreams, which are basically IC dungeon runs. You can meet people you don't know in these dreams, so it's been a good way to hook complete strangers together. We've been making good connections between the characters who are regulars in these dream runs this way. We do runs Sundays, and meet-ups where the characters talk about it Fridays. We also do other RP with the characters along the week. If you'd like to run with us, just contact any of us in-game. Raeras and Caelia (who also posted here) are part of it. I can usually be found on Rhesh Awanah or Ethne Lancaster. Val and Faye may also be able to direct you to us. We're running Qarn for this dream plot this Sunday, starting 7PM EST (we'll also have late runs for people who can't be online). You're sure to find me online on Rhesh Awanah then, if you'd like to try to slip into the plot. On a more personal note, character connections are what I primarily look for in RP. They are specifically what keeps me interested! I get bored quickly without them. I'll be more than happy to throw my RP main at you, since she is outspoken and doesn't much mind characters who aren't too talkative (in the sense she'll talk to them anyway).
  11. I haven't actually tried SCH myself! But I didn't have any problems in dungeons, at least (just did WP, so only AK is still a mystery as far as dungeons). The main issue is MP, even with SoS, so far.
  12. Like I said, that's up until Praetorium, which is really nowhere near Coil in terms of... anything. Obviously different situations call for different strategies. You're not going to be keeping Stoneskin up if it's getting stripped every 20 seconds and people need healing. If all you do is toss Regen+Stoneskin and don't adapt, you're just as bad a healer as the ones who Medica spam.
  13. Primals are heavily scripted battles. It's basically a 'do this and win' sort of scenario, with wrenches thrown in in the form of people not reacting fast enough, or not knowing the mechanics. In a case like that you really can't deviate much in terms of strategy. For dungeons though, at least up until Praetorium, Regen+Stoneskin upkeep has been king, since anyone who isn't the tank really shouldn't be getting hit all that often. Which doesn't mean WHM isn't still better at massive AoE heals, but honestly, I've yet to run into a single dungeon situation (short of a bad PuG) that warranted firing off AoE heals often enough for it to matter.
  14. ACN is a very versatile class early on. It loses much of its versatility later on (especially when you get your job). CNJ can heal for more than ACN can. In a bad group, this can be the difference between success and a wipe. Without parroting what's already been said, the CNJ tree also gets access to several useful skills, in particular Stoneskin. Unlike Adloquium, it lasts for 30 minutes, so it's a good buff to throw up before you run off and it can -really- save your casters' lives later on when you're getting hit for all of your HP if you can't dodge. It is a cross-class skill, though, so you can grab it and use it as another class. Mainly, Adloquium is useful while you're getting hit constantly while Stoneskin is useful as a failsafe for the party members who really shouldn't be getting hit constantly. Now that my WHM has finally reached 50, I can name two other really good aspects of CNJ/WHM: An instant 100% heal - which has a very long cooldown, but can save your tank from death immediately, and holy crackers, Regen (WHM, not CNJ, skill). I don't even bother healing anyone other than the tank unless they're at imminent risk of dying anymore thanks to that. Someone gets hit, toss Regen (which is instant cast and so you can move while doing it) and move on. Regen gives me enough leeway to keep Stoneskin almost constantly up on everyone except the tanks. But ultimately, having both a WHM and a SCH is where it's at. It becomes much easier to focus on keeping people -and- yourself alive when you can afford to move because you know the fairy will throw a heal. I may be doing it wrong, but I find myself mostly keeping Stoneskin and Regen up while the SCH takes care of most of the emergency heals. And this generally means no deaths, even with lag.
  15. Actually, the 'C' in C-tribe names has a short 'Ka' sound: So for the same sound, you'd have C'ex. Which... is weird, so you could go for your 'hk' idea: C'ehk. Though the sound would be ka-EX, which may not be what you have in mind.
  16. Feel free to add me at any time then. I am eager to RP out this kind of research. Can do! Her name is Elissa Vermont. I have tons of alts so I'll try to find you when I'm on.
  17. I actually have a character whose job is to research primals and tempering. She suspects an unknown primal (OOCly, Shiva) may be in Coerthas (in addition to Garuda). She would be very interested in exchanging notes on primals. It's worth noting Coerthas does have fauna and flora. It's also worth noting Ishgard may not appreciate foreigners poking about in their lands, especially where nobility, bloodlines and history are concerned.

    The Echo

One of my alts, Ethne, has the Echo. It's an important part of her background - the visions are a driving force for her. I don't see it as Mary Sueish. It can be an interesting plot device, if used well. Just make sure you ask for permission before having a vision about someone, and you're fine.
  19. Sounds good! I'm on Cerise Vallois right now, if anyone wants to try looking for me.
  20. Welp, this happened! It was a ton of fun, and each run was great (I was in all three, so I know, okay). Plot also happened! A summary of the plot can be found here. If anyone is interested in running with us in the future, please let me know. You can join Wings-the-LS without needing to affiliate with it IC, so we can easily set up future runs. c: (We also really need healers for future runs.)
  21. And the first set of IC runs is done! We had 3 runs total. Some of us were tied up and couldn't attend, but we had 9 people attend (some ran multiple times, which led to plot). Folks who couldn't attend will have extra runs set up for them later this week. Apologies if anyone tried to come and didn't find us in Fallgourd. I was going to be there organizing, but had to participate in the runs due to a lack of healers. Please feel free to contact us if you'd like to run later this week! We've also initiated a plot related to the runs, thanks to fully spontaneous happenings. Details: - An outside source is orchestrating joint dreams. One of us is willing to play the antagonist. - Apparently, it is possible to die, in real life, if you die in these dreams. - Killing a target (e.g. the dungeon boss) or waking up will cause you to wake up. - Objects that have some meaning to each person in the dream can be found while dreaming, if one is willing to search. Usually, they are tied to a person's deepest fears or regrets. - A list of people who have been in the dream can be found somewhere inside. Some names are ominously crossed out in red. Some are circled in blue. The names of people who have dreamed multiple times are listed multiple times, the last listing smudged out when they dream again. The current dreamers are at the bottom of the list. - It is possible to understand that it's a dream (or at least that it's not real), since your characters may behave differently (since it's their subconscious talking), or may not have disabilities they normally have in real life. - It is also possible to relive a memory, if you have been, IC, in the dungeon before. - Characters will always remember the dream upon waking. They may remember having had the same dream before, if they're having it again, during the dream itself. We'll probably have future IC runs of other dungeons, still based on this premise. c: Also, our FC is now Rank 4! We should have FC bonuses soon. Thank you again to everyone who came! You guys are great, and I love you.
  22. It does! You should probably put that in your first post too.
  23. Absolutely! I'll try to catch ya in-game.
  24. Saturday is probably a better day for attendance, overall, but it'll also clash with a lot of other events, most likely. I'm fine with either, personally.
