  1. I'll just drop this suggestion here for J'hared - but instead of cut it off at 25 if more than 25 people already expressed interest, you could cut it off at however many people already posted? And just not take any new members from now on? But if less than 25 people expressed interest, ignore me. >_>
  2. Actually, that a lot of female Seeker Miqo'te turn to prostitution and/or otherwise making a living off of their bodies isn't terribly unusual, if you consider the Seeker lore. It's implied Miqo'te are tribal. Seekers are part of patriarchal tribes, for the most part, and it's the strongest male that gets selected for breeding, which does tend to mean females are inferior in their hierarchy - it implies that they consider the male to be more important to the child being desirable than the female. Basically, the females in terms of breeding are vessels for the Nunh's strong offspring. Most of the Miqo'te NPCs we see out there are females. And we see them away from their tribes, integrated into other races' worlds - they are, essentially, foreigners. They leave their tribes with likely nothing to their name other than whatever skills they possess. If they're good fighters, cool, they can end up as soldiers, or pirates, or mercenaries (we see quite a few of those). You could get lucky and land a job as a clerk or a tour guide, like we see in Limsa. Or you could get unlucky and not land a job. And then you might turn to prostitution. You know where else that happens? Real life. Sure, much of it may be fanservice - but it's fanservice that actually seems to fit with the lore, imo. Plus, to a female Seeker, the idea of sex with a stranger may not be as taboo as it would be to us. They do have to bear their Nunh's offspring, and I doubt every single female who's ever bred with a Nunh was attracted to him. It's a duty, probably mostly mechanical and impersonal... like prostitution tends to be. Regarding the FATE, I don't think it's degrading so much as... well, pretending to be submissive and completely into your client is a thing that prostitutes do? Female ones especially, unless the client specifically has tastes for being dominated. It's part of the performance. And the client being a Roegadyn isn't terribly unusual either - it's not as though clients only ever seek prostitutes of their same race. To me it's not terribly unlike the Asari in Mass Effect - a female-only alien race that is openly fetishized by pretty much every race ever, including humans. Yet you also see Asari doctors, scientists, warriors... some of the most intelligent, powerful and wise characters in the series are Asari. Yet some still choose to live as prostitutes - seems to me we shouldn't judge, just like we really shouldn't judge what leads someone to become a prostitute IRL.
  3. Honestly, I've had more problems with real life couples ignoring everyone else in favor of their partner's character(s) than players of IC couples doing that. It's possible that someone who is so into the romantic RP that they focus only on it and nothing else is blurring the IC/OOC lines a little, too. Personally I am a sucker for romance. I like writing it and reading it and roleplaying it, provided it's developed in-character (whether or not it's planned in advance) and doesn't eventually devolve into just plain puppy love antics (not that they're bad - I just get reeeeally awkward when it's lovey-dovey 24/7). I don't particularly care for the... physical specifics, so I'm more of a fan of fade-to-black and brief, generic descriptions of displays of affection. I mostly just really like to explore what love does to characters on a psychological/emotional level. I keep even the most cynical of my characters open to love because it's really fascinating to me.
  4. Just don't forget the alts among those 25 and we're good ;D (For those who are interested, just before maintenance we had 21 people in the LS, but as far as I know, 2 were alts, so there were 19. I'm not sure how many of you who posted here aren't in the LS yet.)
  5. I registered just to reply to this topic. I'm part of a small group of RP stragglers who rolled Faerie when Balmung and Gilgamesh were closed. Other than myself there are two people currently on Faerie who I know are interested in deeper, character-driven RP. I also have a legacy friend on Balmung who similarly wants engaging RP (he says he will not sub unless he lands some, which is understandable since he already RPs on WoW). My Faerie main is Lyra'to Maegah (male miqo'te, keeper of the moon). I rolled an alt on Balmung when it first reopened - Ethne Lancaster (female hyur, midlander). I haven't committed to either server yet, and while I'd like to commit to Faerie where I already made friends, the number of people there who want RP is small, and the number of people who want involved RP, smaller. So I've been contemplating keeping Balmung as my main, and am trying to convince the other two like-minded RPers to switch with me. They're on the fence because of the work they already put on their characters, but if there's already some compelling RP waiting for them, I think they could be swayed. All of that is to say - I'm interested, and I know 3 people who are pretty much dying for some deep RP, too. If we could put together a Linkshell with all the interested people, that'd be fantastic. I could at least get my friends to roll lowbies to chat with you all before they decide. I would love to chat with you in-game about this if possible.
