1. prettiest princess in all of eorzea
2. I'll get to them all tomorrow! Lights just flickered so I'm worried about losing progress. ;; Thanks for so many requests!
3. Sure! I'll try and catch you in-game soon.
4. IGNORE YOU? OK. I'll get to Khyros (BUT NOT YOU) when I log off (or tomorrow)! in-game now. c:
5. What no I totally forgot what he looks like (OK I didn't but I'd like a ref for the clothing!)
6. Sorry I forgot the facial tattoos! ...But they'd probably just look like super ugly squiggles with this watery coloring ;A;
7. BUT HOW DO I MAKE A LALAFELL EVEN CUTER AND SMALLER ):
8. @Phae'ra: I did promise cute! Glad you like it. @Sylas: You better, dammit. I sort of winged the boots/lower half of the coat, assumed it was the full acolyte set:
9. Oh my, he's quite dashing.
10. What, no dinner? No flowers? No whispering sweet nothings?!
11. Edit: Requests closed atm! I need to work through the little pile of requests I got (and I got a little busy IRL too). Thank you all so much for the interest! c: Yo! I'm starting to fully heal from an arm injury and I need my drawing mojo back in gear, because... reasons. That means YOU get to request shitty doodles look adorable! I know, what a bargain, right?
12. It unfortunately is fairly common. I've seen cases so bad that RPers would get brought up in anonymous hate memes and torn apart by groups of anonymous players. Or entire RP groups/games/concepts would. It was vicious. I was part of a group once that kept two secret chatrooms - one for the cool people, and one for the cooler than cool people. According to them, anyway.
13. Balmung's Finest is very chatty! But it's not really for RP events. :c
14. It's worth mentioning that if you have characters on other servers you wouldn't play due to the wrong name/look, you can use the Fantasia from the vet rewards to change their look, and you can use the forced name change if another character with the same name exists in the server you're transferring to to change their name. You can (with a standard sub) make another character in your home world with the same name as the one whose name you want changed. e.g. I have John Doe on Cactuar. He's a male Hyur. I want a character named Rhee Mahni on Balmung, who will be a female Miqo'te. I use Fantasia on John Doe to make him a female Miqo'te. I create a new temporary character on Balmung named John Doe. I transfer John Doe (now a female Miqo'te) to Balmung. John Doe already exists as a name - I'll be prompted to change the name. I rename the John Doe from Cactuar Rhee Mahni. Ding! I now have a female Miqo'te called Rhee Mahni on Balmung while making use of my old abandoned character from Cactuar, John Doe. I am spared some leveling, and will now party hard.
15. Elitism is telling other people how they should RP, in my book. Wanting to be the best you can be, having your own standards and offering advice isn't elitist. Choosing not to RP with someone if there is incompatibility between playing styles isn't elitist. Expecting players in a group to adhere to the rules of the group isn't elitist. Being good at something isn't elitist. Acting like your standards are somehow more important or more acceptable than others' is. Expecting or demanding that others follow your standards is. "Protips" which are less advice and more thinly veiled insults/accusations of doing it wrong are elitist. Sneering and mocking at other groups for being bad compared to yours is elitist. Mocking, insulting, despising, attacking (openly or passive-aggressively) other RP styles is elitist. Just having standards is OK. Thinking less of others for not having them is where elitism starts, to me. Of course, this is considering nobody's being (from an OOC standpoint) inappropriate, invasive, doing anything illegal, trying to disrupt anyone else's RP and so forth - that's on a whole other level, and RP is never a free pass to be an asshat. Drawing the line at someone making you uncomfortable or doing something illegal isn't elitism. Calling them out on it isn't elitism. If you're a shitty person you deserve being called out; whether or not you're RPing while at it is irrelevant.
16. I should've added a cookie fee for contacting me in-game. Darn. I'll look forward to it! c:
17. I. Basic Info Characters: Rhesh Awanah (main RP), Ethne Lancaster (main PvE), a bunch of others Primary character: None. Linkshells: Wings, a few others on alts Primary RP linkshell: Wings II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): As much RP as comes my way. If you ask me and I'm not doing anything important/bound by duty, I'll RP. Views on RP combat and injuries: I fucking suck at writing combat (and PvP), so I'd just settle on a result OOC. Injuries are fine, just check in advance. Views on IC romance: I love IC romance. I just really f'ing love it, okay. I also like watching it develop, and watching characters come to the realization that they feel something, and fidget and suffer as they wonder whether or not to act upon it, that sort of thing. All of my dudes and dudettes are open to it (even if they don't want to be). Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): Any and all character ties are good character ties. I love RP that is driven by ties - any kind of tie - and without steady character ties, I lose interest relatively fast. Views on lore: I prefer to fit into it as much as possible. I won't judge you if you don't, but if our "headcanons" are completely incompatible, RP may be difficult. Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): I'm OK with anything, just let me know if you're being IC or OOC in advance so I don't end up looking silly. D: III. Other Info Country: Brazil Timezone: GMT -3 (that's an hour ahead of Eastern US when daylight savings are active there; three hours ahead when daylight savings are active here. Usually when DST is active in the northern hemisphere it's not in the southern, and vice-versa.) Contact Info: PM me in the forums, contact me in-game on any of my alts. More contact info only if you're a cool person and pay a fee of 30 chocolate chip cookies. The cookies are more important than being a cool person. [glow=blue]~Special announcements can be found in the posts below~[/glow] Seeking RP And some other random junk: - I am a story planner by nature. I make future plans, I can't help it. However, I always ask in advance if something's OK, if it'll affect your character. I am also likely to reveal stuff to you OOC. I don't ask you to do the same, but you probably need to not be bothered by OOC revelations. - I like my characters to be involved in stories. I am fairly good at coming up with them (years running RP groups). I'm also decent at figuring out a setting to get RP going, so don't worry if you'd like to RP with one of these losers characters, but can't figure out how your character would meet them. We can work something out! - I hate (OOC!) drama. I've had enough of it in my RP life. At the first sign of conflict, I'm bailing out. RP is for fun, not headaches! - I love doing IC dungeon runs and any other IC stuff while running around in the open world. - I tend to include thoughts and witty commentary with descriptive posts. e.g. Did he just say that? By the Twelve, he did, didn't he? That's... embarrassing. No, embarrassing doesn't even begin to convey it. "Um... I... what?" About as smooth of a response as she could muster, really. Which is like, the opposite of smooth. - I love IC romance. I just really f'ing love it, okay. I also like watching it develop, and watching characters come to the realization that they feel something, and fidget and suffer as they wonder whether or not to act upon it, that sort of thing. All of my dudes and dudettes are open to it (even if they don't want to be). - I also love making my characters go through terrible things. Lose something important! Have secrets revealed! Be forced to confront things they don't want to! If you're my character, you will, eventually, suffer. For me that's key to character growth, and I love character growth.
18. Tunnel vision to 50, eh? Just wait for the AF weapon... just wait. If he's typically in Ul'dah he is most likely to run into (or have run into at some point in time) Ethne, Elissa or Maliqa. Since Elissa has no RP yet I'll go ahead and say Elissa. She does travel for ~field research~ often so if he's had run-ins with her before he is likely to remember her, even if it's a "fuck no not you again" kind of meeting. Which, honestly, is likely for her. Though I'm not sure how they'd get along (or in her case, not get along) in terms of personality. I'll try and catch you in-game to ask! That's basically me except for the angry eyebrows part. On the very tiny chance I'm in a duty or RPing, I'm usually yacking away in a LS anyhow, so it's easy to grab me when I'm free. Shall I contact you in-game so we can pretend to be doing important things together? I'll try to catch you in-game, then! Elissa loves discussions about the aether, but she mostly loves bickering. There are people who RP at 8/9 AM?? Heretics. Monsters. D: I'm not even functional at those hours! They must not be human. (I kid but dammit early risers stop putting my sleep habits to shame!!) Nooo don't be nervous I am the least demanding person ever. But thank you! I don't mind forum RP at all, if I have a reason to do it on top of in-game stuff! All of my RP prior to XIV was done over text/forums/IM/etc, so that's basically my element. And if you ever do want to RP don't be shy! We can think of something. Replied! Thank you! Thanks! We totally have a problem, though. Embrace the problem. BE THE PROBLEM no that doesn't sound right Cerise is side eyeing the f out of the words 'zealous' and 'Halone' in the same sentence, jsyk. I'll try to catch you in-game, see if we can set something up. c: I'll try to catch you in-game! If I can't I'll send a PM - I generally prefer to chat for brainstorming since otherwise I talk too much (like my really long OP here) and then fret that I'm tl;dring again. I like both ideas. c:

That's not very nice >:C

Blindness

That's an interesting point. I never figured her "aether vision" to be extremely precise, except when out in the field where there isn't too much commotion (and even then it's not so much precise as 'ok, I can walk, there is no cliff in front of me'). That ties in well with things getting too hazy when there's too much going on (and to feeling disoriented, maybe sick? aether sickness?), though! I like the crystal shards as an improv mapping technique - since they're condensed aether they would be easier to sense. Could place a few in strategic spots, but of course, that goes nowhere if they're moved.

The short answer (excluding the seeing part, because being completely blind necessarily means you do not have eyesight): yes. The long answer: Disabled people can and do function as well as able people. Sure, the blindness means there are certain things they can't do (e.g. read, watch a silent movie), and some things they may take longer to learn due to the lack of visual cues. But people are notoriously adaptable. Some blind folks can do something called human echolocation by, for instance, clicking their tongues. It's like a sonar. It lets them get around without running into things. It lets them do things like play basketball, or other sports. I suggest watching the Paralympics to see how much people with disabilities, even severe ones, are capable of. I mean, sure, a blind person can't read (with their eyes). But can you close your eyes and find your way around just by clicking your tongue? Functioning 'well' is relative (and honestly, the notion that having a disability means you function less well than someone without it is ableist; I'd say the distinction is functioning differently, rather than more or less well). But the answer you're probably looking for: No, there isn't much of a point to having your character be disabled if the disability never factors into it. But it's not the case here, really.

I call it "seeing" but I'm not sure exactly what it would be - although the conjurer quests imply that conjurers do feel (in the tactile sense) nature a bit more strongly than other people. I tend to picture this aether "vision" as something that's separate from the senses we're used to - so like, the masks Thancred &c use to see it are just converting aether to visual feedback, like a heat sensor would. I like to think that when there's too much of it, instead of a visual blur, she gets overwhelmed in a... mental sense, disoriented, unable to focus. A bit like what we'd feel if the room started spinning, or we started hearing a bunch of incomprehensible sounds - you try to make sense of your surroundings, but can't. It's just easier for me, personally, to picture it as 'seeing' the Aether - but it wouldn't be seeing it in the literal sense. You just feel it, and you know it's there, like you would if you'd seen, heard, smelled, touched, tasted it.
