1. Hello, fellow Manhattan-ite! Trying to gradually get back into the swing of RPC-foruming while I wait for test builds to execute. Woo for three day weekends! Now to figure out what to do with it. Other than FFXIV, naturally.
2. Fantastic event! You can definitely put Ty down again for next month's. And congrats Aeylis! Knew someone from the pirate table had to take it
3. You can make Tyriont a definite, instead of tentative Also add Wandering Lion to the list. Because this needs to be even more terrible of an idea. (Note: Lion is my alt on a separate account, so no need for separate verification from him. Y'know, 'cause he's me.)
4. He grinned to himself slightly at her name. He didn't believe for a moment that it was real, but it clearly indicated that whoever she was - or whoever had sent her - they had done their research well. Another cursory glance over her lead to the determination that she was likely here of her own volition, as anyone who was aiming to lure him into something would likely have sent someone...cleaner to work her wiles on him. Still, she was doing her best and it wouldn't do to hurt the girl's feelings. "Someplace less open works for me, love. 'course, I've got to be getting this back to the Flame." He kicked the side of the cart. "You're welcome t'come along with me if you wish. Not far, just docked on the other side o' the port. If you're not the trustin' sort though, when we get there I can pass the load off to one of my crew an' then we can go wherever you like. Oschon's Torch should be nice an' secluded, if that'd work."
5. Tyriont cocked his head at the new arrival, curious. He hadn't been expecting anyone to approach him out here, certainly not at this ungodly hour. He lifted his own hand in a mimic of the girl's own greeting as he took her in. Dirty, bedraggled, probably more lice than hairs...he noted that she lacked the dejected spirit that many of those he tried to help carried with them, though. No, this one was used to life's hardships and had clearly adjusted to them instead of lamenting her lot. She knew him...it remained to be seen if that were a good thing or no. "Mornin', lass. Always interested t'hear the current word...especially when it concerns me an' mine. You've got me at a disadvantage though...you clearly know my name, but I've not a clue as to yours. Who is it I've got the pleasure of?"
6. Tyriont grumbled to himself bitterly as he made his way towards the lumberyard. Too bloody early. Too bloody hung over. Still, the Flame needed repairs and it was his responsibility to put in the order. He paused for a moment, turning towards the dock and facing the sea and took a deep breath with a smile. Nothing like a fresh sea breeze to make him feel better. A beak nuzzled into his neck and he reached up to scratch his chocobo's neck affectionately. The bird was strapped into a harness attached to a decently sized cart, which would soon be loaded with a supply of lumber imported from Gridania and hauled off to the other end of the Drydocks where the Phoenix Flame was at port. "Alright, Tyrone. Alright. I'll cheer up. C'mon, sooner we get this over with, sooner we can find us some breakfast, eh?" Tyrone let out a happy 'wark', prompting a grin from the pirate. Turning from the ocean the two resumed their path, the empty cart letting out a soft clack as the wheels passed over gaps in the stone pathway. Before long the short figure of the Yardmaster Yulgi Honalgi came into view, busily barking orders at his crew. "Hoi, Honalgi!" Tyriont barked at the man. "Here t'pick up my order!" The Lalafell nodded in the direction of a small pile of well-cut lumber off to the side of the yard. Shaking his head and quietly grumbling about how he should have known better than to expect any help loading the wood, Tyriont set about the arduous task of loading up the cart.
7. Personal Profile Character Name: Tyriont Gaidal Gender: Male Race: Wildwood Elezen Domestic Profile Civil Status: Resident, on retainer with the Maelstrom. Place of Residence: The Phoenix Flame (ship) Occupation: Pirate Free Company: TALE (RP) Social Profile Tyriont is the captain of the Phoenix Pirates - a pirate crew in name only. Though he and his crew proudly claim the title, few who have met them seem to think it appropriate. Their targets are carefully selected, primarily Garlean vessels and those of wealthy Ul'dah merchants who the crew's research have determined came into their wealth through exploiting the poor and downtrodden. He is well known with the Limsa Lominsa's poorer population as the crew will frequently distribute their hauls between the street urchins - after taking their cut, of course. Recently, the crew have taken advantage of the Admiral's efforts to bring the Limsan pirate crews into service and have been taking on work for the Maelstrom. Ty himself is a terrible flirt and has found himself taken in by a pretty face more than a few times. He is an accomplished performer and loves to play the fiddle at any bar he finds himself at. He is friendly and easygoing, quick with a kind word, joke or lecherous remark. Meta Profile My time in game is...sporadic, but I'm always happy to RP. If you see me around, just flag me down or say something over the pearl. I (and therefore Ty) spend most of my time in Limsa anyway so I'm very happy to see this initiative take off. As a man of the sea, Ty hates Ul'dah I'm not open to long, involved plots right now but I'm very happy to jump in on something casual.
8. It's also worth noting that we still get individual housing later down the line which will be much less expensive. No set date for that, but at least it's -something-. So your furniture craftyness can get used there.
9. There already is an OOC ls in place which many RPC members use - Intermission, which is linked in the ls section. As for why not use Free Companies for OOC and linkshells for IC...well, a lot of us already do that. You appear to be assuming that most of us are in IC Free Companies - from personal experience, that's often not the case. And while I understand wanting to band a lot of people together to afford housing, I have one major, overriding issue with that. It's faceless. Let's say you have a FC with 100 members, all of them contributing to get the house bought. That's 100 different opinions as to how it should be designed. With as huge a gil investment as we're talking (from an individual contribution standpoint), I personally would want to get to have some say in how the damned thing looks. I don't feel as if I'd have that with a huge FC. At that point, it's just another building in the game to me. From my own observations, the larger a guild/FC/whateveryouwanttocallit gets, the less of a distinct identity it has. I wish you the best of luck, but I caution you that you will likely end up with a small group at best...which really, doesn't help the issue at hand at all.
10. Wildsky is active in both OOC-FC and IC-LS forms.
11. I had to take the full, professionally administered version of the Myers-Briggs for my previous job - and in that, as in this test, I came out very clearly ENFP. Which has proven true time and time again. Example - I currently work as a software engineer in an office which abhors solo work - everything we do is paired, which suits me well in a line of work I'm not naturally inclined for. I could remain and be somewhat comfortable in a well-paying job...instead, I'm gathering money to abandon it and go run off to live in NYC in order to pursue an acting career. Because I evidently loathe money. But in all seriousness, I won't be truly happy unless I take that chance. Definitely an ENFP thing to do. I'm a huge believer in the MBTI and it's really helped me learn how to communicate with people better. I strongly suggest that beyond just looking at your own results, examine the one polar opposite of you and figure out ways to better communicate with those types of people. Your personal and professional lives will greatly benefit from it.
12. May I introduce Wildsky: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=2952 We might not fit the role exactly, but on the other hand...we might. Explanation! The basic premise is that we're tied to the Maelstrom (largely through Renaise) and take on work that they're either unwilling or unable to perform themselves. This can very easily fall into the "less than legal" side of things, which tends to be where Ty and his crew fall in. Ty himself is a more Robin Hood type of character, but there's certainly openings for someone who is more in it for the money, as it were. The basic premise of the shell is for people to find work. And honestly, it sounds like your character would bring in some quite interesting conflicts within some of the group's members which I for one enjoy and encourage! Hit me up in game or via PM if you'd like to talk about it or have any questions. We're really lax on member requirements, so we certainly don't have any issues with you just trying it out should you wish.
13. Tyriont Gaidal. Logging in now, if you're around.
