  1. I have a character who's a paladin, but her main CLASS is a WHM. So I SOOO know the temptation to wear that cute robe! But I put it away whenever I am RPing. But as a player who for herself decided I wasn't going to have my character wear it, I don't mind ONE BIT if another character does, for whatever reason! It could just be that she saw the robe on someone else and had made one like it. Or some entrepreneur Ul'dah weaver decided to sell some replicas of the famous robe only once seen in Gridania and sell it to a select clients? Who knows? I think it's fine to wear it, personally.
  2. I will add to intro-love! And welcome to RPC! I hope you have fun at Gilgamesh and meet a lot of cool folks, but if you ever roll an alt in Balmung, please feel free to bump into my character! And... really. Who can just eat a few Pringles. It's like a mixture of potato and AIR.
  3. Ha! Polar opposite! Nice. Oddly enough, his story is more similiar with Roen's. (What, I have two Garleans who are not really Garleans) I would love to meet other Ishgardians! Not sure if *Rae* would want to meet other Ishgardians. She would despise most of them. But I am keeping a track of characters mentioned here, in case she might know -of- them. Like House Rivendare. ('I thought the last of that house had no heir...')
  4. Ha! Well it would not be Roen who has the Ishgardian origin, but Raelisanne, my alt! If your character is a fanatical Hyur, she would have more scorn for you. And I would not mind having her meet with or at least know of other expatriates! Although she no longer considers herself an Ishgardian. Her loyalties lie with Garlemald now.
  5. I have an alt who is also an Ishgardian Hyur! She definitely harbors bitterness towards the elezen noble houses and the religiously fanatical views of the Ishgardian society in general. Going through some of the quests in Coerthas, many of them have that religious persecution undertones, reminding me a little of the Spanish Inquisition. So I integrated that into my character's history, she was persecuted for her non-religious beliefs which is why she ran and joined the Garleans. They have *no* religious undertones! I think everyone else's advice is good, use what is in lore (or what little there is) and forge something out of it that you feel is what you want to play. Maybe my character will recognize yours though, if he was a prominent member of the Ishgard society.

    Howdy there!

I hope you find some RP fun in general on your server! Welcome to RPC!
  7. There's a lot of great responses already! So I won't need to repeat them. I just wanted to add my encouragement to the thread. Everyone who has posted here will not mind AT ALL of being sent a tell or being approached in game. Me included! And I highly HIGHLY recommend taking C'kayah's advice about sending a cold /tell at least every time you are in game to a potential RPer! I have exchanged tells plenty of times just to keep in touch without it leading to an RP session with that person right away. But at least it will help break the ice.
  8. A big thumbs up on this! I think it is a WONDERFUL THING to have a player run organization that are connected with the criminal element, comprised of players willing to take part in development of other people's stories! I will probably send you a PM with some stuff.
  9. Adding my vote in support of Text Based RP! My first introduction to online RP was through text based RP, in chat rooms and forums and such. As for DMs/GMs running the show, it can be magical when you have a great GM. Someone who is controlling the NPCs, the environment and the scenario... WITHOUT controlling the actual scene and the outcome. That's what your participation is for! So I would need to trust the player who is GMing the scenario, but I am all for it! But mostly my interaction in game has been cooperative free form roleplay. Feeding off of the other player's descriptions and adding your own to the scene, even if it is not in the game environment. It's great if you can incorporate the environment, I think that's what's great about FFXIV that there are things that helps you with the immersion, but the game only can give you so much. And sometimes the scene just needs more. And that's what text and your imagination is for.
  10. Welcome to RPC! I know there is an RP Mentorship list on this same folder. *points up* I don't know how up to date or active the volunteers are on that list, but maybe if you want some kind of guidance one on one, it might be a good place to start. I would start with a PM maybe. Although from my own experience, people in Balmung are very welcoming to new players, so if you walk about and see some roleplay, just try sending them a /tell and see if you can get involved!
  11. Welcome to RPC! It is always good to come out of lurking. I hope this site avails you to meeting some great RPers from Gilgamesh. I've heard it is a growing community over there!

    Hello

Ha! Love your Tyrion quote! One of his best scenes... I wish you luck in finding some great RP on Diablo! Welcome to RPC!
  13. Welcome to Balmung and RPC Scott! Feel free to poke me if you see me about as well, I love random RP.
  14. Welcome to Balmung! And Yay for deeper RP! My character right now is looking for some Highlanders to ask some questions, so should I ever see Theodoric around, I am poking you!

I will second C'kayah's recommendation. Natalie's Sultansworn investigator is very enjoyable to RP with. Roen did not enjoy getting interrogated by her, like at all.
  16. Oh your jokes are going to win people over FAST. You had me at In a galaxy, far far away... Welcome to Balmung! You sound like a blast, which makes me curious about your Elezen. Hopefully we will get to meet him soon in game!
  17. Welcome! I know it does take a little while. Just give it some time. I look forward to meeting you sometime!
  18. Welcome! You are absolutely correct, lurking is not conducive to finding RP! Glad you are here. I know how hard it can be to dive into RP with people you don't know, but take it from someone who was new just two months ago! People here are great and very open to meeting new characters. I always welcome random RP so shoot me a tell if you ever see me around! I would be happy to meet your character.
  19. Oh! I like this thread! Although I too am not a legacy player, so some of the questions do not apply to me either. I came to Balmung for the roleplay! I will answer those that I can. What kind of stories has your character gotten into? Roen has gotten to know people since her arrival in Ul'dah. Her own self discovery is happening gradually, but she has come to care for a few people she has met, and that is her current motivation right now for what she does. How has your character changed since the game re-launch? At launch, Roen was very quiet, guarded, and kept to herself. Very serious and intent in her goal. While she is still a very private individual, she has warmed up to more than a few people, even asking for their help on a few occasions. What has been your favorite RP moment so far? Oh boy, there are quite a few. I like the whole range of RP, from quiet talks to dramatic life and death situations (not her own yet). But recently, it has been those filled with hilarity. Two comes to mind, one with two costumed characters in front of Quicksand, and another IC dungeon run. I was in tears at times, laughing my head off. What relationships did your character build? Quite a few! These are what drives her story for the moment. I've found it very satisfying for her to start forming some bonds, coming to regard unexpected people as her friends, mentors, and some even close enough like a sister. What are you looking most forward to seeing in the future with your character's growth and story? Definitely her growth. Unfortunately the gain in power from the game mechanics is too fast for my character's growth. So despite the fact that Roen may reach 50th level paladin, I will not have her reach that kind of power IC any time soon. I want her growth both in abilities and personal maturity to feel realistic. I also look forward to exploring elements of her past as well.
  20. ^ This. This pretty much sums up why I choose what race too.

    Howdy...

Quick Hi back to you! Yes, roleplay I see at random spots make me happy too. Welcome to RPC!

    Hello there

Welcome to RPC! Commodore and Atari... ah yes, I remember those. But once I discovered PC gaming, I've not looked back. I have no idea what the RP is like on Sargatanas, but hopefully this forum can put you in contact with those who are there!

    Meep~

Welcome Lyrielle! And from one typo-ist (that is not a word) to another... RP is what counts! Who cares about those little typo beasts... >.> Hopefully we can run into each other on Balmung someday!
  24. I left too when Pandas came to WoW! But your RP experience in that game really sounded extensive... and awesome! Welcome to RPC and Balmung! I've RPed with two distinct lalafell characters that I can think of off the top of my head, and while physically they look adorable, they are played as distinct individuals. Yes being a lalafell is part of their history, but their personalities seem so much more than that. One a studious scholar and another a charitable goldsmith. It never occurred to me to tackle hug either of them. Not that any of my characters would EVER tackle hug a lalafell. They have been part of the world for awhile now, none of my characters sees them as cute childlike people. They are just people. While you may feel the need to over compensate for their adorable physical appearance, I personally don't think it is needed. Play the character that she/he is, and other RPers will follow suit. They *may* pick you up and toss you over their shoulder though.. but I imagine a Roegadyn can do that to any race if they wanted. I look forward to meeting either of your characters someday!
  25. Another warm welcome to more new members! Zazalan, Isandor, and Isondre!
