Edited Title; Public Space OOC/IC issue~
D'aito Kuji replied to Anthony Valron's topic in RP Discussion
Party chat or tells, even in the middle of the Quicksand, have been used for private RP since there was RP in the game. If people wanna RP in /say and get pissy when people enter their range and reply, they should have considered it beforehand. I suppose I just presumed if people were RP'ing in public it was more or less an invitation to join if there seemed like there was a reasonable opportunity. If two characters are PDA'ing I feel like I could say "ew gross!" I wouldn't but I think it should be expected that someone might. The way I usually get involved in RP is to speak to NPCs as though there were other PCs. I've had some negative feedback here and there but it's mostly been positive. I've also done public RP in the Drowning Wench and expected (hoped) that others would join in. I don't understand why anyone would do public RP in an RP game and NOT want others to join in. I feel like public RP is an invitation. That's my intention anyway. If a group is standing together and not saying anything (or speaking only in /em) then I presume it's private. -
1ShHTCvE7TY D'aito is a warrior and a tank, stronger and more resilient than her size suggests. Her laidback attitude and casual demeanor are at odds with her attitude when forced to engage in battle. I think this song captures both side of her fairly well.

Can't have your Dodo and eat it too. More gold for your gil. (more bang for your buck) Cold Dodo (cold turkey) Jump to the action (cut to the chase) 17th bell shadow (5 o'clock shadow) Chain your chocobos for a minute! (hold your horses) Jumped the blade (jumped the gun) Sprigganese Court (kangaroo court) Sacred Dodo (sacred cow) Tail wagging the coeurl (tail wagging the dog) The whole nine yalms (yards) Meh. There aren't all that good but I can see myself saying "chain your chocobo, what did they say about me?"
-
I would think that it may make more sense to use 'coeurl' rather than Miqo'te. Especially since you have the hard 'c' there so you still get the fun alliteration of things like 'Curiosity killed the coeurl.' True facts - I guess someone let the coeurl out of the bag.
-
Hmm...one could replace all the sayings that have to do with cats and replace them with Miqo'te. Yes, yes, I know that Miqo'te aren't really cats but they look a bit like cats.

I have a habit of going over my City of Heroes RP (a lot). I've never been better than I was then. It's mostly because I can so easily immerse myself in that genre. I haven't revisited my TSW roleplay very much but I think most people felt I was better than I thought I was. I haven't went over my FFXIV RP at all. I think my RP is okay but there's a lack of passion that's frustrating. Am I really only good at super hero stuff? Seems tragically limited.

characters that seemingly break lore (but don't)
D'aito Kuji replied to Khoure's topic in RP Discussion
I would love to have D'aito Kuji encounter someone claiming to be a female Nuhn. It would make her so upset. She can't even stand Seekers eternity bonding. But that could make for some excellent RP. As long as someone isn't trying to control my characters perceptions or feelings, I think most things are possible, lore breaking or not. If I'm free to disbelieve or make a counterargument, I wouldn't have an issue at all. -
I LOVE this! I kind of like the image in my head of these fierce and intimidating looking people being fastidious like this.
-
I find the Raen's naming convention fun enough to justify playing them.
-
97 people and D'aito is the only Warrior? But it's not a job title she'd self-apply as she spends most of her time doing odd jobs and sees relatively little combat.
-
D'aito Kuji is highly protective of her tail as it was severed when she was a child and was fortunately reattached. Anyone tugging on her tail as a joke would likely have to deal with her ax at their throat.

Item Flavor Text Wind-up D'aito Kuji What the...?? Minion Guide Wind-up D'aito Kuji This wind-up automaton was a prize offering to those who stayed subscribed to her namesakes newsletter about adventuring for longer than 3 moons. While disappointing in her lack of sage advice, she makes up for in her periodically threatening stance with her axe ready to strike. Will randomly threaten other minions. Behavior: Willful

D'aito had little interest in literacy until she learned that books might contain stories about adventure and tales in strange places with strange people. After that, she would always badger traveling merchants for books. She had little formal education and experienced a lot of hands-on learning in a home-school or apprenticeship fashion. So if she suddenly transferred to high school, she'd be that girl who practically memorized the entire Harry Potter canon but couldn't do basic math, had little knowledge of actual history, and was unfamiliar with popular culture, and had been homeschooled. (And no, that's not me. But I am friends with her)

Differences and similarities between you and your character
D'aito Kuji replied to 13uddy's topic in Fun Prompts
tl;dr - We both look asian, love the sun, and are bi & poly. But she is not shy, is more confident, but quick to anger, and is more "modest" than me. Similarities: We are both female. We share similarly shaped eyes. We are both short. We both have naturally darker skin. We both have black hair. We both think we're smarter and more capable than we actually are. We both love reading. We both worship the sun. We are both bi and poly. Differences: I have a number of obnoxious phobias, a speech problem, and great difficulty with social situations (in most circumstances). D'aito has none of this. It would make her role as an adventurer nearly impossible if she did. D'aito shares only my fear of spiders with me. I am a vegetarian (98% of the time) while D'aito not only eats meat, she kills, cleans, and cooks her own meat. I can't imagine killing an animal. We are both quick to anger but D'aito is far more likely to become violent. D'aito is very sure of herself and overconfident and this leads to her getting in trouble. She dislikes rules and left her tribe over traditions she could respect but didn't want anything to do with. D'aito comes from a culture where being covered form head to toe was a requirement, lest one invite the attention and possible wrath of Azeyma. I come from a culture where clothes are optional. I'm afraid of horses while D'aito is practically best friends with Homura, her chocobo.
