  1. Crisiet is Ishgardian and lives in Gridania. Feel free to poke me in game if you like!
  2. I prefer smaller and more constant groups. I've always felt that more meaningful character development gets done when you have some solid people your character can bounce off of. So no, I don't find it weird at all! Some people love large group RP and some don't. We all have our reasons for our preferences, too.
  3. I was levelling my then-main (Moon-keeper MNK) through Coerthas and I realised I loved the setting. Then from there I started thinking about making a character native to that area. I hadn't gotten into FFXIV's RP scene at that point and Ishgardian lore really caught my attention. By the time I'd finished questing there I had thought up an entire concept. Then Crisiet was born! I had intended him to be a side alt for me to switch to when I wanted to wind down, but I got so into both his class (DRG) and the ideas I had for his personality and backstory that he quickly became my main. Funnily he shares a surname with an Ishgardian NPC in Whitebrim, which was a complete accident. His personality is similar to that of a character from writing I've done in the past. Means well, kind of a snarky jerk sometimes. Crisiet is a little bit friendlier than this other character though. Just a little.
  4. Crisiet dislikes physical contact and will avoid it where he can, especially when it comes to strangers. It's just not polite to be touchy feely with someone you've just met, you know? There's a dozen other IC reasons for it, too.
  5. This has become a fast favourite of mine. It's just a shame it's so damn short. SP05hGIiGh0 Other favourites of mine have been posted already. Garuda and Ultima. Mmm.
  6. I believe I posted in the Ishgard thread about this. I'll just say what I said there about my interpretation of it. A group of Ishgardian knights trained to slay dragons. The Azure Dragoon is the only super-special one. I don't think powers like the super jumps are available to all dragoons. In the quest-line, the reason you get these powers is because the eye responds to you (because you're super special in the quest-lines, lol). The soul crystal you receive is one that belonged to Alberic, the former Azure Dragoon and the powers are granted to the Azure Dragoon in order to let them fight the dragons on the same ground, so to speak. That is not to say however that the regular Dragoons aren't powerful or skilled fighters, they're just not magically enhanced. So with IC access to training it's entirely possible to become a dragoon, but you'll only be super-powered if the eye has 'chosen' you. IC I've chosen to ignore jump abilities and anything else that looks obviously magically enhanced. Everything else is either suitable or only requires a teeny tiny amount of suspension of disbelief. That's just how I choose to go about it though!
  7. I might. Sometimes. A little. Maybe. I'm painfully awkward and when I see other characters that look cool/unique I wanna say hi but don't have the courage, so I examine them SUPERFAST so they don't know I'm examining them. I've had people run up to Cris and check him out for whatever reason. Not sure I've been creeped on though. I have a guildie who gets creeped on a lot. We're not sure how he does it.
  8. The pure, unadulterated terror in his eyes says it all really. Please. Make it stop.
  9. This idea. This idea right here? Yesplz. I've been wondering how I'd get Crisiet out of hiding to interact with other Ishgardians. This could work very well. I'll try and be in touch if this goes ahead.
  10. The Dragoons are a group of dragon-slaying knights in Ishgard. The azure-dragoon is their leader and the only super-special one. I just don't super-jump when IC. Works out fine.
  11. As someone who IS roleplaying an Ishgardian DRG. Yesplzthx.
  12. I guess Crisiet can add supermodel to his list of accomplishments. 8-)
  13. From what I can tell, Ishgardian hyur seem to be fairly equal to elezen when coming from a similar background/class. The nobles however are, as you know, elezen. In honesty, I'm not entirely sure. I'd love to know the answer myself!
  14. My character is Ishgardian. He was once a knight and everything. Then he left for reasons and doesn't plan on going back. Now he's forced to get over his preconditioned xenophobia in order to exist outside of the fanatical world he grew up in and attempts to hide his past as much as possible. I've tried to take the attitudes the game presents us with and create a character that expresses those as well as rejects them. My advice would be that while you must keep in mind the sort of society Ishgard is and the upbringing your character may have had in that society (this would depend on the background of the character's parents, the house they were perhaps a part of, their class etc etc) you can create whatever kind of character you like. They could be a real sweetheart that just happened to grow up in a harsh nation. They could be the polar opposite or anything in-between. Anything else I could say would just be parroting Dogberry, so all I'll say now is good luck and have fun with it!
  15. Yeah. It's incredibly awkward. Though I recall GW2's culling being a nightmare as well, then they removed it and I was seeing conversations from across the entire area which was arguably worse. This event looks fun, anyway! Might attend if I can get the time zones right.
  16. Argent Dawn was a terrible place with some terrible people and I'm glad I left it behind.
  17. Hi there! I've found myself in pretty much the same position. While many people on here seem friendly and accepting I'm still new to the community and honestly getting to know new people scares the heck out of me. I'm awkward, shy and possess very little confidence. I'm in Europa too though! I main an Elezen aswell, so feel free to say hello any time!
  18. Your friendly neighbourhood evil overlord here!
  19. I ought to join you folks. I'll PM when I can!
  20. Also, this boss weirds me out more than I can say.
  21. I love using the ears and tail in emotes when roleplaying my moonkeepers. It's so expressive. I also tend to roll my Rs like some npcs do and if irritated or startled they might hiss. I think it can work very well. Also, I absolutely must use "RIGHT MEOW" in speech at some point. It's too ridiculous not to.

    Hello!

Introductions! I'm freaking terrible at stuff like this. But uh, hey! I'm fairly new to the forums but I've been playing FFXIV for a few months now. Looking to break into the roleplay, finally. I'm also obsessed with making alts and taking screenshots (expect the screenshot thread to be quite flooded by myself.) The Elezen fellow in my portrait is my main but I also have a thing for Moonkeeper miqo'te, apparently. I roleplayed on WoW (Argent Dawn EU) for several years, then on Guild Wars 2 since it's launch (Piken Square - unofficial EU RP server). This is the first time I've been on an American server (I'm English) and time zones are a pain in the butt. I've done table-top stuff in the past as well, though I've always felt most comfortable roleplaying through games. I'm very awkward. Outside of games I'm a literature student in my final year of university and primarily focus on women's writing and Romanticism. I'm also an aspiring writer and often use characters from my writing in roleplay (or vice versa). And yes, I do have a thing for tragic backstories and socially inept characters. Who doesn't, right? RIGHT?
