  1. I saw Aya's wiki when I was browsing through a few when I first got onto to Balmung. She's adorable, by the way. If anything, I'm sure they could have met at the Quicksand sometime; Luha's there way too often. Awwwww, thanks! I'm looking forward to it!
  2. Very nice! Perhaps C'kayah can introduce you to Aya! Though he seems to prefer to keep his friends to himself
  3. To be honest, the naming conventions (especially for Ishgardians/Elezen) make no sense if they do not speak "French". You do not get to French pronunciation by speaking English. You can ask any French teacher you like for confirmation of that :-D I have always played under the assumption that Ishgardians speak their own language, to the point where its part of Aya's every day roleplay (including her very obvious French-ish accent). The complete lack of any reference to this in the MSQ has given me more than a moment's pause, wondering if I'm just being completely silly, but it would make sense for the MSQ to smooth over these with the echo. Like many shows, and games, there is a sense that accounting for believable language barriers is distracting to the game itself, and they have a tendency to minimize them as much as possible. That doesn't mean we should necessarily dismiss them from an RP perspective. Though, anyone whose insistent that they just do not exist, I can't really argue with either!
  4. OMG, this thread has gotten so amazing! hahahaha!!
  5. Chachachachachachange at the top!
  6. I maybe out of posters, but I still have some other nice shots I'd like to share! Happy Weekend!
  7. Well, I think I lacked the room in my status to include walk-up RPer. I just assume it of myself (and of others). Sometimes that assumption doesn't turn out to be accurate, but oh well, that's the cost of trying to meet people What I look for in a status is: RPer (if the character does not appear to be a likely RPer by appearance and behavior) Important notes (obvious features, accents, etc). The rest is just whatever!
  8. There's a reason Aya ran away from her da! :-D
  9. There are real guys who are exactly the same. Unexpected success can make for fun and awkward situations at the same time! And sometimes you'll find someone who's just happy to flirt back :-]
  10. There aren't that many unattached male characters, that definitely helps out I always appreciate running into guys who will flirt, they're not all that common, and its a fun form of RP that fits Aya all too well! Well, this is just life. For singles, other singles are vastly more interesting. I've heard the line, "I'm just married, not dead!" more than once when it comes to recently married friends trying to maintain their relationships to friends. The opposite is also true: couples tend to hang out together. Everything else you mention, well, welcome to the low-side of life I guess there are just people like that unfortunately. They do the same thing in real-life relationships and sometimes they succeed.
  11. And some, some lonely few, see the true value of Dubiousness.
  12. I don't even have HW yet, so you're not slower than me!
  13. Ooooooh, its my favorite too! I hope he enjoys them :-D
  14. How is that a flaw? I want a nickname!
  15. Character Fear Aya's possessed of the full range of normal fear. Danger, monsters, violence, loss, and so on. She's not particularly heroic, and although she can summon courage (at times) when its really necessary, that is merely putting a strong face, and resolve, toward the object of fear. Her epithet, Foxheart, is due as much to her skittishness and desire to avoid trouble as much as anything else. Her more overarching fear is of loss of freedom. To be caged, literally or figuratively. How does she cope? Like a fox! Avoiding trouble whenever possible. Avoiding confrontation, avoiding commitments and responsibilities, and taking positive steps to remain above and beyond suspicion or interest. That mentality has shaped much of her character, most especially her public persona which is almost entirely dedicated to avoiding scrutiny and enemies The most salient character of her entire life is that she runs from trouble. Four times she has fled only to start over again from scratch to avoid trouble. She only seems to summon the courage to resist under situations when she feels completely cornered, when there is no other opportunity. There has only been one exception to this so far: her decision to remain in Ul'dah even when things felt untenable. That was a moment of high character drama, and character growth How do people respond to her fear? I think there's a great deal of sympathy from those who know her. Sympathy, support, and help from her friends. There are others who would not be so kind, and would consider her craven and perhaps callous.
  16. All of the posters are now posted, and its time to kind of wrap up! I couldn't have completed this project without the help of QueenFrejyalen, throughout every phase of things! I saved some shots just for celebration, so here we go! No no, Aya, like so! You know, you are actually pretty cute! Admiring the early morning mistiness of the Shroud, while waiting for just the right conditions. Come here for a hug! We did it! Thank You Everyone!
  17. Happy (Holiday) Weekend! I'm happy to present the final set of GC Pin-Up Posters! For Eorzea! Please enjoy, and I hope they can bring some smiles :-D Poster Set #5 Immortal Flames Maelstrom Twin Adders
  18. Outtakes!! Last Poster Set in two more days! Happy Hump Day? Outtakes #10 Salute to the Gray Fleet Fogotten Springs Hot in the Sagoli Sun Cooling off in the Shroud Under a windmill! I'm out of clever names! Like Magic!
  19. I'm giggling a little at the thought that the older-styled English sounds "British" -as if modern Britons are tossing about "ye" and "thine" in conversation :-] I've enjoyed the discussion! I think there is partly an effort in many fantasy games to make the language sound pre-modern through the use of some older forms and words, and this combines in FF with an attempt to capture the concept of an older, more formal tone through old language! That said, I find it pretty silly that "thee" is being used to try to make the language sound more polite. The plural "you" was the more polite and formal way of saying the singular "thou", and that's why it eventually ate "thou" and replaced it! That it now sounds more formal to some ears.. is a precious irony!
  20. I pretty much just ignore it to the best of my ability. If really put on the spot it would just be a judgement call to kind of nod-and-go-along-to-get-along, or to do what Otto suggested and just say "sorry, its a new person to me!" I haven't started playing HW yet, so I haven't had to see just how many people may have done that :-X
  21. I'm so glad you guys are enjoying them! I'm curious which ones people like the most too! I have a few favorites, one of which is in the last set for Friday!!! I wish there was more to this outfit (and originally I'd hoped to at least color in the white of the bikini), but something about the particular sun flare, and the disc of the twelve in the background (the way Queenie's editing brought out the detail.. just... oh I love it!) And then this one, because of the Ul'dah skyline in the background. This was one of the very last images I took. I wasn't really expecting to get a poster shot out of it, but once I saw what I had, with Aya casting a protective eye over her shoulder toward that amazing night-time Ul'dah, I knew it was a keeper
  22. There are a lot of settled Seeker tribes in the Sagolii, but that doesn't discount the idea of nomadic tribes, nor does it discount the idea that they might take in someone they found out in the desert. A lot of them, as Aya mentioned, aren't terribly accepting of outsiders, but I think there's room to say that your character and her mother might have found some. How did it take that long for that to get corrected? ; "Um.. Keepers? Seekers? Um.. I can never tell the difference!" A long standing problem as C'kayah knows :-D
  23. The Dunesfolk were desert nomads, I'm not sure if its clear if there are others. The Keepers of the Sun are also desert dwellers but they're not really nomads... and seem rather closed off to outsiders. Of course, Little Ala Mhigo is a desert settlement itself.
