I'm not saying "Go Balmung or don't bother!", I never say that :-X you just asked a question and I was giving the honest answer. There are only two really active RP servers: Glilgamesh and Balmung, I don't see any activity on the RPC, at least, from any other server except for people periodically posting from them wondering where to find RP. I can't comment on Gilgamesh's status for EU RPers, so I just let you know what I know about Balmung :-] If you don't want to come to Balmung, by all means don't! If you do, it opens up during the early hours NA time, so morning time in the EU (maybe 8h 12h).
-
I'm not sure how much RP there is on servers other than Balmung and Gilgamesh. I know its not ideal, but Balmung does have a significant EU-player RP base (I am not a EU player, I've just picked up on this from the board), but events are usually held at impossible times for EU players. I hope you're able to find what you're looking for :-]

Gridania also provides a potential point of tension for plot, because it is so unwelcoming (although it has become much more so, for adventurers at least). Trying to settle in Gridania as a refugee can either be incredibly easy (if you're fortunate) or an endless struggle of cold-shoulders, rejection, and expulsion (if the Shroud does not accept you). At least that's my understanding

I posted this in the screen shot thread, but a friend suggested I post it here as well! So here it goes Fireworks! Yay! (Applying for the Swimsuit Edition!)
-
Two more Firework screen caps..! (I liked the other one the most, but I like these two too ^^ ) Anxious excitement just as they were beginning! Enjoying the show, resting a bit after a swim!

So. . . you know that thing I do occasionally? Round 3?
Aya replied to Askier's topic in RP Discussion
I don't buy it! Ghost Aya was the scariest thing there :-] -
That's an interesting question. Personally, I see her as too much of a fixture to be a peddler. While she does get hired to tend bar for other events and such, I have yet to see her wandering the streets of Ul'dah offering a selection of drinks to passers-by. You should correct that. Don't give Momodi any ideas~! I shudder to think what she'd expect Aya to wear
-
Does Aya could as a peddler? I never deal with actual items when serving customers, and don't expect actual gil in exchange (although I do sometimes get it, and it is always much appreciated ).
-
Aya knows just what to do when someone calls for a distraction! *Starts to Dance*

I see RP everywhere in Ul'dah! And in Limsa when I visited. The Quick Sand is amazing, but it can also be overwhelmingly loud, especially for those not accustomed to it (and even then, this barmaid gets overwhelmed at times and has to seek a quieter spot!) Hosting events in housing gives people more control over the space, at the disadvantage of being out of the way, and so missing out on drawing people in at random. That's just a trade off for those hosting the events to take into consideration. In all honestly I have not yet attended an event at a house (though I have also only been invited to one, thank you Faye!), but have attended many out in the open world. I guess I'm generally of the opinion that letting people RP where, and how, they want is what is healthiest for the community at large, and I see no reason to go against that here on Balmung, which features the most pleasant and encompassing RP community that I have ever had the pleasure of being a member of :-] Edit: I get a feeling that it wasn't intended this way, but I really can't see why anyone would ever "push" RP away from anything! What a horrible, horrible concept! If you really want more RP somewhere else, create it, take part in it, and let it grow and flourish. Its not a zero-sum game, and anyone intent on trying to capture RP from another community (be it server, FC, area, group, what have you) would seem to be approaching things from a rather resentful point of view; there's just no reason for that. I love Limsan RP, and have been absolutely thrilled to see it become more prominent. In part because I just love RP in general, in part because I like variety, and even more so because I know its made a lot of people happy :-] This is a net gain for both Limsa and Ul'dah and, most importantly, for the Balmung community at large!

I am wishing that Aya could get her hands on a motorcycle, it would seem a terrific mount for her, but it does not seem like such things fit the present setting Much like the weapon and artifact thread, her availability of a mount is underwhelming by Adventurer standards. She does not own a mount, and relies on renting a Chocobo when one is needed.

Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them
Aya replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
Aya does not carry a weapon or any artifacts :-X She owns a lance, kept hanging above her closet and hidden in her room in the Hourglass. Her "artifacts", as they were, are nothing more than the jewelry she loves and treasures Oh, oh, right, she does have something of a stiletto, more an over-sized letter opener she carries on her person sometimes. The most dangerous thing on her, at most times, would be her heels. Something Ser Natalie McBeef learned the hard way! -
Welcome, Welcome! When I am RPing I am almost always in or near the Quick Sand (since it is Workplace, home, and sometimes fun place for Aya ). It would be nice to get to see you, and welcome Faolan for a bite to eat! There's an event tonight, Gus Pumpkinweed's Spooky Thirteenth, in Thanalan easily within reach of a low level character in Ul'dah! Its mostly silliness and fun, but it might be something to check out tonight :-] Welcome again to Balmung!

I agree with C'kayah - just have to free up an LS ^^
-
So... this guy walked into the Quick Sand, and I was lucky to get a snap before he left. Does he remind anyone else of someone?
-
Hmmmmmm... I've always thought of Berrod as less an Astral Agent, and more a Musc-al Agent!
-
Its... complicated! But that's why Aya was so surprised! Not pint-sized Lala Sultan Sworn any more, grown up and all big like :-]
-
Aya sees the Ghost of Christmas Past! (Or just an unexpected Sultan Sworn: Kage Kiryuu, wearing the badge once more!)
-
Screen Caps!!! :-D A couple of these are from the Fish Fry and Fight Party, and of friends! The lovely Lili!! And Chokho Friends in the Quick Sand! T'shina With Crofte! A late night in Ul'dah

And what he outlined is a fine starting point for a wiki! Though I think it may be better to start from one of the templates :-]
-
Verad! Thank you! And Kudos do you too for making one of the entertaining people to interact with :-] Don't let Verad get pulled down too much! His "dubious salesman" schtick is one of the most clever and enjoyable that I have ever had the pleasure to RP with You had me laughing out loud the very first time I met you, "Very well then, I shall have your very worst drink, in your very smallest glass." - and again pretty much any time I read your wiki (the Cactuar-puncture bit being my personal favorite!) So, thank you Verad for making Balmung that much more enjoyable of a place!

This is not exactly a science (nor are D&D stats), just a fun exercise. I don't think I'd worry about it so much!
-
I once played in an old-school roll 3D6 for each stat (with no shuffling) campaign and wound up playing an Orc with 20 strength, and 2 charisma. That is the charisma of a spider, if you're curious! MENACE
-
I don't think that charisma is necessary for connections. Osric acquires his through circumstance, as a result of direct interaction, and earns their loyalty through characteristics that have little to do with charm Though my IC interaction with Osric is limited, I'd have thought that his Charisma was actually sub-average (he has a definite way of rubbing people the wrong way, and has never struck me as particularly measured in speech, or appearance), but that he'd possess both more dexterity, and an exceptional wisdom (as his key attribute).
