  1. If you're still looking, the Bloodwind Traders are looking for people just such as you seem to be for recruits!
  2. The Lady welcomes all within her arms! http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=13573&pid=219411#pid219411 It's a bar and inn, excellent place!
  3. IC info and spiel The Traders are an organised group of trade and moneymaking. Gathering people from all walks of life, they deal in exotic and local goods, will sell their strongmen for protection on the road, are willing to transport your goods and people all for a reasonable price. For this are they known; helping the desperate, providing employment for the downcast and trodden upon, for making worthy workers out of hopeless refugees. The Bloodwind Traders operate out of Ul'dah, recruiting primarily from lowborn and desperate peoples. Their Lady, one Emelie Le'grand, is known for being ruthless and violent. If one finds word of the woman in the less savory portions of the jewel of the desert, they may find that the Traders are not at all the respectable image they appear to be. Usually, one can get word to the Traders - if, indeed, a member is not present - at the Laughing Lady Inn. The Out of Character Deal We are a small FC looking for roleplayers to be our businessman and strongarms, we're partnered with the Laughing Lady for its linkshell and location and looking to afford housing sometime down the line. At the moment, we're only Rank 2, as the FC has been established only recently and needs members desperately. Those looking to join should contact either myself, who can be contacted on Emelie Le'grand or Chell El'lara, or Khaishan Dotharl, who acts as Emelie's lieutenant and bodyguard. Further, anyone who is in the FC has invite privileges.
  4. Thanks for the advice Kage. Since making this post I've done a few little things here and there with the people I do know - mostly, I've just had E call in nameless NPCs to do things, casually demonstrating that she can, at will, call a dude to do something. Like clean up blood and hide bodies. (which she did!) So, yeah. But you're right; finding and building a group with an OOC search is going to get the desired results much quicker than going about with, like, an IC recruiting session. ^^ I'll start asking 'round (though this thread is partially for that purpose too! @T'zhumii: My character name is Emelie Annel on Balmung ^^ feel free to send me a friend request whenever you get around to making a character to help her out - if I'm not busy doing something else, I'm always 100% ready to help do things like level an alt or gear up a class or RP some shenanigans. Whatever it takes to be superbuddy! @C: Thanks for the words, but while I am looking for -criminal- rp, I'm not looking to be NHSC 2.0, by which I mean to say... Emelie doesn't exist solely for the purpose of helping out other people by serving as a villain. She's not a -villain- character, she's not an -evil- character, because defining a person as one or the other tends to make the rp community react by saying "Oh, they're not a real character, they exist to be defeated." And that's not what I want with Emelie. Hell, I'm not adverse to playing an antagonistic role every so often - as a criminal, Emelie's likely to find other criminals to compete against, or even law-enforcement. Or, hey, a group of people trying to dismantle Emelie's group, essentially vigilantes. Who's to say people can't play the villain to Emelie's group, someone else playing the hero to be the antagonistic force that gets, if not outright defeated, at least evaded. It'd be a hell of a lot more fun to me to find someone who knows Emelie's dealing in criminal shit but can't seem to make it work. I don't really like how the community reads "Criminal roleplayer" and assumes "villain rp." Skies above I am way too tired to be making my point here. >.> (BTW Zhavi, sorry I haven't gotten around to responding to your pm. Fell asleep halfway through a reply an dhave just kinda forgotten about it and now I need to go collapse again)
  5. I have a character who has, ICly, been a criminal and -wants- to be a criminal. And, aside from actually doing anything RP-wise that's criminal, she acts like one. She tends to be confident and aggressive, slightly paranoid, and frequently walks away from friends because she's got business to take care of. I just never do the 'business' IC, mostly because all of my current RP contacts are on the other side of thigns - they may be -aware- of her criminal aspect, but they don't help and don't participate, and E definitely wouldn't do anything to them. And there's also that, ICly, she's supposed to be the -boss- of her little syndicate - or large syndicate, or whatever. So it's not like I can go around RP'ing petty theft for others to get in on. And I realise, there's an OOC reason for this. I won't name names, but i used to have a group I'd run with where we did the criminal element to my character. They'd meet up and discuss things quietly in character. Or we'd find someone who wants something done for them, and RP that out and my character -felt- like the big, scary, sadistic badass criminal bitch she is. I haven't felt that lately and the reason is because that group I used to be with I slipped quietly out of due to some OOC drama with one member. And so, I've been void of contacts for that side of RP. I mean, sure, I'm also into progression, I like running my roulettes every day (It's the only way I can see to make money for someone who refuses to use the craft system) and so, I don't rp constantly, which may get in the way of finding more contacts. And to, I tend to hang out around my FC's housing, so I'm sabotaging myself there on finding new people. Although we do have that event every saturday, and people come in for random rp all the time... but anyway. My issue is that, I don't know. My character doesn't -feel- like a criminal when I RP her, which equates to not really feeling like... you know, like her. So I don't know. I could put out a call for some people willing to serve as underlings / lieutenants in E's organisation, or I could move away from the criminal part of her entirely, but then I'm not sure what she'd do to support herself. Sure, her past(wandering Eorzea on her own for seven years) and the habits it instilled in her means she really doesn't need to spend gil very often. She owns the house she lives in, she hunts for and prepares all of her own food, because she can and she doesn't really care much for constantly updating her wardrobe. But a way for her to maintain income isn't the issue on that side, it's, what does she do to -live- then? She's already proven to herself IC that she can't go back to wandering on her own and she's not the sort to really enjoy working -for- another, so I don't think defaulting to a position at the FC's establishment would be something I'd enjoy. Instead, I just kinda... have let the issue sit aside. And I had some conversation with someone else in the criminal rp thing, and we briefly discussed having E's group and theirs go up against each other, but I was like, I can't, because OOC I don't have anyone working for my character, and you've got, like, twenty PCs running around for you. So I dunno. What do y'all think. Should I try to find something else for E, or should I spend some time and energy looking for lieutenants to get back in on these criminal 'nanigans?
  6. for RP FC housing on Balmung, the Laughing Lady has recently hit things up in the Goblet, Ward 3. The housing is being used as an Inn for weary travelers and somewhat as a hub for criminal dealings, on the down-low. The ground floor and "cellerage" are both set up to be used in this fashion, although we're awaiting certain things to determine what to do with our top floor. There's usually a member of the Lady online, and if you want to know for certain, we've an OOC LS that you can easily be invited to. Most members are willing to hit up some rp at the housing all day. As for general advice on how to break things in with people - like eveyrone says (and I too, like Steel Wolf, am fantastically late to the party) - be persistent. It's all about finding the right group. My characters an Ul'dah cat so although I don't do much derking 'round in the Quicksand, I'm usually poppin' around OOC or IC. Just /tell me (Emelie Annel) asking for rp and if I'm not currently busy with something... I'll come 'round and have E say hey. ^^; I wish you the best of luck!
  7. ...Swear I made a big long post. Screw it, abbreviated version this time: E is a criminal pugilist/monk-style fighter born with a prodigal natural sense for fist-fighting and a natural desire to use that knowledge to cause pain. She's a very gifted pugilist and a sadist. She's also a criminal. But for all that, she's a kind woman. Get on her good side, and she will literally murder just about anyone who tries to hurt you. Her criminal activities have gone hush lately, since she's planning to move into a different business altogether. She enjoys people like your Wynn. >:3 Let's meet.
  8. Denn's hired Emelie before. Could hire her again, to run as bodyguard for the spies. She could get a few others who work for her in on it, too. It'd be neat 'cause as soon as E finds out IC that the spies are assembling a bomb to destroy Ul'dah, she's quickly going to go to "hahaha, kill all the assholes now, folks." But we could probably work a way to keep her ignorant at least until the bomb is assembled / thwarted. In the latter case, she'd simply wash her hands and walk off, completely forgetting the situation unless she hasn't been paid. Then Denn might want to ensure she gets Emelie her money, somehow.
  9. So... she's a goodie two-shoes pugilist with an attitude? E would like her. :3
  10. Probably. ..I don't remember chasing anyone to a waterfall, though =x She gave an imperial salute beforejumping.
  11. I think generally Conjurers just get a basic sense of things, aware of disruptions and the 'harmony' of nature, particularly in the Twelveswood. But I also think that chances are only Hearers get the more 'intense' feelings that Sylphie seems to display, as the game says she's a Hearer-in-the-making
  12. Magitek bomb sounds like fun. My character might even show up to do a little headsmashing 'cause she likes Ul'dah and would NOT just let it get kaboom'd.
  13. Only issue is that the Garlean empire is interested in conquering to eliminate Primals, so its unlikely they'd summon one themselves. In addition, I do not believe they know -how- nor would they have the necessary belief to do so.
  14. I think you were around when Denn hired E to attempt to kill someone else's PC, you chased her to a waterfall with a roegadyn, iirc. Also for some reason I put you on my blacklist for a while and then took you off of it when I realised ou weren't RMT scum. Hi!
  15. For cross-class skills, WAR has access to GLA's cross-class list, which is really helpful, namely in the form of Flash and Provoke. It also draws from... Lancer? I believe it's lancer. So you can nab that Keen Flurry for a minor defensive bonus. Unfortunately, Defiance DOES hit your dps - but at the same time you've got a cooldown that pretty much says "Defiance doesn't hurt your dps for a while" I don't play Warrior, so that's about all I can offer for insight. Those who do and do it well (like Merri up there) would be better suited, but I thought I'd toss my two cents in and answer something I didn't see others answer yet ^^
  16. FINALLY GOT TO RP WITH CAEN *thumbsup* okay goodnight.
  17. Well, I started on balmung because a friend of mine was like "I play on Balmung, you should too" and I was like "okay" because he was why I started playing. I didn't even know people RP'd in this game and didn't figure I'd get into it. Hell, when I encountered my first group of RP'ers, I was like "mmmmm" and just kind of... sat there... staring... for like 2 hours, as they rp'd. Then I joined their LS. Then I met some people, and interacted with them. I was momentarily upset with not having followed the lore-given naming convention for miqo'te, but then my character told me "I left and I didn't want to keep the name they'd given me. So I changed it." And I responded to her by saying "that's alright by me." Now I think I kind of figured that E would grow as a character to me - very rarely do I play anything where I can make my own character that I don't either gimp an old one or make a new one out of it unintentionally. Ultimately, I'm surprised I didn't go Lancer to begin with. I'm an earthy-person... or you know, like to believe that I'm close to it elementally... personality-wise... something. Shut up. And historically Dragoons are one of my favorite classes in Final Fantasy. So why didn't I go Lancer? I don't know. But I like to think nowadays that it was the tiny initial spark of what would eventually become Emelie speaking to me. "No. I don't like to stab things. I like to punch them. Make me a pugilist." So I did. And I fell in LOVE with Ul'dah. It's like, my favorite place in game. I love Momodi. I love Namamo Ul'namo. Raubahn is my favorite Grand Company leader and I can't stand Limsa Lominsa at all despite my character making forays into being an arcanist. I actually don't like the layout of Gridania, with all of its shards being in one half of it, like what's the bloody deal? And you know... I'm okay with all that. But long story short... it was organic. I didn't intend to RP, but everything about her creation - from her hair color to her starting base class to her city - wound up fitting her exactly and I don't think I'd have been half as happy with the game as I am now if I didn't do things as I did.
  18. Well, E certainly thought you were intriguing when they met at that valentione's ball thingy! And she doesn't know enough Roe, so that'd be a good way to get into some character interaction with E. I find that having a martial character decide to practice something arcane leads to interesting development. E is a prodigy of pugilism (even unlocking some chakra and mastering monkish abilities without being aware monkism is a thing) but even still, she's decided to practice and study Arcanum, even going so far as to walk around with a Carbuncle any time she's busy studying. Which she does while walking around Ul'dah entirely too often. So if you're considering going a different route with Steel, maybe have her get curious about magic? Nothing says she has to make it her primary IC discipline, and certainly nothing says she has to be any good at it (E is at best a subpar Arcanist) plus it gives you a huge variety in endgame choices if you go the whole way with the class ooc (I'm planning on rockin' scholar personally). Hit me up if you wanna meet up. ...But I tend to get popular, when I'm looking for rp. (sorry still, Caen!)
  19. I have to apologise to Caen. I became a very busy sunkitty over the weekend everytime he wanted to rp >.< And the week I'm usually busy doing one thing or another, too. I'm sorry, Caen, best I can say is keep poking me ^^ I'll find the time between helping my FC do things and helping my LS buddies do things to RP with you.
  20. Feel free to chat with E, she's also monkish (IC I write it as she's mastered Monkish abilities and unlocked several of her chakra, but did so without knowing what she was doing. It's a loooong story, but basically she went wandering all around Eorzea for years) and happy to spar with someone. Just send me a /tell, I'm usually on when I'm not otherwise busy.
  21. I'm an i82 Mornk that likes to think she can belt out deeps. I've never -done- the ex primals, but they should be fun, so why not? Besides... I need something from Titan to get BiS anyway.
  22. Emelie doesn't actually -own- a mount. Though IC she's going to be stealing a bunch from the Flames soon enough to outfit her group... Until then, she rents. OOC, Luxanna is my bestie. Me summon her long time. But, that's OOC. I want the behemoth mount, but would not be like to give it to my character IC. See, I RP her as being pretty strong - a prodigy of the pugilistic and monkish fighting arts, largely self-taught. But I also RP her as being... uninvolved. She -can- fight against the Garleans... She -can- serve well in a GC... but generally? No, she doesn't care. I see some people IC talking about plunging Coil or some other thing like CT and I say "E... E wouldn't do that. That's other peoples' business and she doesn't care, even if she could probably hold her own there" So if she ever used a mount... it would be for necessity. She prefers to walk on her own two feet, if at all possible. So it'd be a Chocobo, stolen or rented.
  23. There was a moment, way back when I first made my character. She had yet to really be firmly established in my mind and though she went around wearing an eyepatch, I wasn't sure for what reason. Maybe it was to hide auspicious mismatched eye colors, disdaining typical Seeker tradition. Or maybe she lost her eye. I wasn't sure. Until, in a long, long conversation with someone she'd only begun to know, she opened up and told the story. Of being a young miqo'te in a tribe, fascinated by -causing pain- and being cruel to little animals, to fleeing her tribe when their nunh tried to claim her... to the moment when, alone, starved and half mad with it, she cornered and was beating a ceourl(MAN I FUCKING HATE THAT NAME) pup whilst studiously avoiding killing it... and got surprised by its sibling pup and had her eye raked. She continued to describe the days of walking after barely escaping being rounded on and hunted in turn, fleeing from anything big enough to threaten her, too tired and hungry to find sustenance... and stumbled into a village with a conjurer, which just barely managed to save her life and keep the majority of her face from scarring. But when she'd got there, her eye was a black mass of swollen tissue, infected and making her quite feverish. Now, she hides the eye under an eyepatch to spare others the grisly scar tissue underneath. During that one session of rp, the character changed and solidified in my mind. She became -real- and enjoyable. I remember that moment fondly.
