    I. Basic Info Characters: Kerr V'yen Primary character: Kerr V'yen Linkshells: TBA Primary RP linkshell: TBA II. RP Style Amount of RP (light, medium, heavy): I would probably put myself into the medium-heavy category. Within an MMO can be very different from my usual play style, which is usually very lengthy and detailed. The faster pace can be very refreshing, but I will probably also supplement things with forum and IM RP with whoever enjoys such things. I put myself mostly in Medium because there are days when I log into an MMO where I just want to get things like quests and other such tasks accomplished. If I'm focused on a specific task, I'm less likely to engage others in RP and will tend to be very quiet over IC chat. Views on RP combat and injuries: Combat can be very difficult to pull off correctly. I feel like it needs to be discussed and planned with input and consent from both parties. I don't think a dice roll should decide anything related to winning or injury to either character. We spend so much time and effort on creating and shaping these 'people'. Like with anything else, I think we need to take care with them and respect one another's choices and goals for our characters. To sum things up: With a trusted partner and one who is easy to communicate with, I think combat can be a great thing. Without it, I'm not all that interested. Views on IC romance: Now this is a fun topic for me. I think romance is a good thing to have in any RP. I don't think it is always needed, per say, but I do believe that there would be people in my characters lives that they would eventually find feelings of some sort for. To deny that, I feel, cuts off a large number of potential RP opportunities. That said, I'm not someone who jumps at every chance to be romantic with another character. There has to be real chemistry between the characters and between the authors' writing styles. I do ERP, with select individuals. Right now, I only have one person I do this with and it is a private, IM event. I do not believe that an IC romance reflects the feelings of the people behind them, however. Just because my character fancies you, does not mean I do. What's between characters is between them. I do not see any form of IC romance as cheating IRL, but I will respect those that do. The most you'll see from me without asking in this regard is some playful flirting. I adore homosexuality in both forms. (Sorry, my beautiful straight-only friends!) I prefer male/male interactions the most, but I do love some girl/girl action too. The only ERP I do is male/male. I do love a good hetero romance too, but it's rare that I find the right chemistry to fully enjoy it. If the chemistry is right though, I'll pretty much do anything. ... Except aldgoats. Views on non-romantic RP (family ties, etc): I like this aspect of RP. Having two (or more) people bound by common family bonds can be interesting and fun. Usually, however, I opt out of the option. If someone is interested and makes the effort to collaborate, then I'm certainly open to discuss it. Views on lore: Lore, I think, is a tool. It helps us better understand the world we are trying to fit into and the people that inhabit it. I think lore is an important part of fitting into any world that is not of your own creation. However, I don't think that exceptions can't be made. It's "more like guidelines anyway", right? Views on chat functions (/say, /linkshell, etc): This... I can waver on. /say is strictly IC for me, but other forms of chat can vary. Usually, I simply adapt to whatever form of chatter my LS is using. I have noticed, I will be a bit quieter if it's all IC, but that doesn't generally present any problems for me. People just tend to think I'm shy, when it's just I don't have anything particularly important/interesting to contribute right then. I will note that I do like my IC /linkshell and /tells to be dialogue only. I don't really think it's all that feasible that people can tell what your actions are from long distances, but that's just me. If people have a preference either way, I'm pretty adaptable. III. 2. Oh my goodness. I hope we can be good friends! It sounds like we have a lot in common. I too started to RP when I was very young and prefer an IM/paragraph style of writing. I'm also deciding between a male miqo'te and male hyur, though the leaning is strongly with the miqo'te. I guess we won't know until we get more details.
  3. It looks like it's going really well! Keep it up, I can't wait to see more!
  4. Is anyone else ridiculously excited by this? It looks amazing!
  5. I want to see how this turns out! I like the idea and seeing everyone at that age should be interesting. Too bad Kerr can't play yet. Soon! Soon, he will be in doodles too! ::fist shake::
  6. I love this thread. Hopefully, Gerik, you'll feel inspired to draw one of Kerr one day. Keep up the good work! My favorite has been Ifrit.
  7. I know! There are going to be so many miqo'te... I kinda feel bad about it. I suppose it's going to depend on what happens. The character I have in mind is a half-breed, so he could go either way. I would love to join the Beta! I think I am going to try to get in, yes. Mostly, I plan to lurk around here and haunt you guys until 2.0, though.
  8. Hello, everyone! I've been wanting to get into FFXIV for a long time now. I pre-ordered the original release, but after all the bad press and the feedback from friends in the Alpha/Beta tests... I was less than enthusiastic. But now that they've been working so hard on fixing their mistakes, I believe I'll be joining you all for 2.0! I'm really excited. I am hoping to make a male miqo'te (the son of my originally planned 1.0 character) when 2.0 is released, but we'll have to see how that goes. If, for some completely bizarre reason, I don't like them, he may end up as Hyur. But.. I doubt that somehow. Nice to meet you!
  9. With the imminent fight with the troll-like creature and his band looking to be heading off, Tabrett found she was able to relax a little. She watched them for a long moment, just to be sure, but all that was really threatened was the desire to consume lalafells. Her fingers eased on the subtle grasp of her weapon, returning over the table as she offered her hand to her impromptu companions in turn. "I'm afraid I've got rounds in the morning or I would stay and have a few drinks. If you're staying in the area, perhaps I'll see you again. It was nice to meet you, Tadir. Bear, take care of that arm. Don't let it become infected," she chided the Roegadyn gently, patting him once on the shoulder as she passed by him on the way out the door, her tail swaying in a merry counterbalance.
  10. "Bear and I will more than make up for it, if something happens," Tabrett assured Tadir with a smooth tone. Even injured, Bear was, well, rather large. He could fall on something, at the very least. And ''cute'' as she was, the Miqo'te knew how to handle herself. Hopefully, however, Fatyhiel and Gavriel would defuse the situation before it came to that. "They want to eat. Maybe once they do so, they'll leave peacefully.."
  11. When the three strangers had entered the tavern and Gavriel gone to confront them, Tabrett had sat up straighter in her chair. Her tail twitched to and fro behind her in anticipation of trouble, but she stayed at the table with Bear and Tadir, and now Faythiel. She had just greeted the other woman when the shudder of earth caused her to jump, ears perking in alarm. Tadir's outburst was nearly the undoing of her nerves, but the Miqo'te couldn't hold back her laughter. She hid her smile behind her hand, but her amusement was clear. "I'm sure you'll be able to interview him the moment he wakes, Tadir."
  12. Leaning in toward Bear, the Miqo'te rested her arm lightly across the tabletop. She spoke quietly in response to his question, just loud enough to include Gavriel and Tadir in the brief bit of conversation. "I don't know her name," Tabrett admitted, turning a thoughtful gaze on the exotically dressed woman. "She arrived about the same time as you did. I believe she came looking for work. A performer of some kind. She looks like a dancer with that outfit. I haven't had a chance to become introduced -- she was speaking to the barkeep earlier and I was occupied with aiding you." She paused in her evaluation of Faythiel to look back at the large Roegadyn. "Why don't you ask her?"
  13. Withdrawing her hands from the Roegadyn, Tabrett moved to take the seat at the table that Tadir had initially offered to her. Her weapon was rested against the wall once more and she looked up in time to catch the questioning look in Gavriel's eyes, as well as Bear's boisterous question. Shifting in her chair, she crossed one leg over the other as she answered to both. "I am called Tabrett. It's a pleasure, Gavriel and ... Bear, wasn't it? You're lucky you ran into this one, it seems. He's mended you well." Her ears twitched and she looked up to find the lovely Elezen woman lingering near the table, looking nervous to be intruding. Her smile was gentle and welcoming, and she was quick to calm her worries over the Roegadyn's health. "He will be fine, I'm sure. Gavriel managed a good, clean stitch. As long as the wound is looked after, he should come out with nothing but a new scar and a story to tell. Thank you, for your help."
  14. Tabrett was quite petite in comparison to the men around the table, most especially Bear. Her features were delicate, posessing an almost doll-like quality, but her hands were sure and strong when she took hold of the wounded Roegadyn. There was no way she would be able to hold him if he shot up from that chair and flailed about like a raging beast, but even her insignificant weight would be able to manage just one limb. She was prepared for Bear to flinch, jump, or pull. Her small hands were steel bands on the wounded man's arm. "Have you any formal training?" she questioned of Gavriel. Or had he learned the way many soldiers did? From past personal experience. There had been times when she had to stitch a wound or two on her travels.
  15. Tabrett kept her position at the bar for a time, watching the men and their business at the table, ears flicking with idle interest. When Gavriel asked for the supplies to tend the wounded, she at last pushed away from where she leaned to join them. She spared the graceful Elezen woman a small smile of thanks for her dutiful attention. There weren't many that would have taken well to minding the orders of others. She thought Faythiel showed great patience. Her hand lighted briefly on Bear's shoulder, meeting each pair of eyes in greeting before she turned her attention to the other hired blade among them. "Would you like me to assist? My stomach does not turn easily," Tabrett told Gavriel.
  16. Returning to the tavern was a relief even after only a few short minutes spent in the sun. If the other two outside ever managed to get the Roegadyn up from the sand, there would be things he needed. Such as a sturdy chair, a stiff drink, and food. A man wandering the desert probably needed a good meal and Tabrett was of a mind to see he got more water as well. Picking her way through the tables, she came to lean against the bar, taking in who had departed and who was newly arrived as she waited for an ear from the two women that were now tending the bar in absence of the original barkeep. When there seemed to be a small break in the Elezen's conversation, she gently interjected. "Pardon me, but might I have two fifths of rum, please? And some water?" Turning slightly to catch Aveline's ear as well, Tabrett added, "And something hearty to eat for that wandering Roegadyn. On the journalist's tab."
  17. "The man needs more water, and food, not spirits," Tabrett said with a shake of her head. The tilt of her full mouth spoke of her amusement. With the hand that wasn't still holding the mug of her own ale, she fished with slender fingers in one of the pouches at her waist. From it, she withdrew a small potion vial, breaking the wax seal with the nail of her thumb and upending its tasteless contents into her mug. "Give him this, for the bleeding. I'll see about that rum and something to fill his stomach. You'll be right as rain in no time, stranger." Bending at waist, she passed the pint along to Gavriel and straightened to glance at Tadir. Turning, she thumped the back of her hand lightly against the journalist's stomach as she passed him on her way back to the tavern. "You're buying," the Miqo'te informed him with a charming smile and twitch of her tail.
  18. The heat was almost smothering here in the desert. At least, she thought as she moved over the shifting sand at an even pace, it wasn't humid enough to curl her hair. Within moments of leaving the shelter of the tavern, she could feel her clothing begin to stick close to her skin and her hairline felt damp. Wiping a bare forearm across her forehead, she let out a softly complaining sigh as she went to join the Hyur and the large Roegadyn that had settled beneath the tree by the oasis' edge. The sand under her boots announced her before her voice, considering the two men seated there with her gaze as she came to stand near them. Her hip naturally angled to one side, the length of her tail curling briefly around the opposite knee before returning behind her. Her voice was soft and a little sweet, almost lilting with the gentle tones she spoke in when she asked: "Are you badly injured, sir Roegadyn? Have you been tended?"
  19. I think this is great! I've always been envious of people with artistic talent. Keep going with this! I'll definitely follow it. --Tab
  20. It was difficult not to be amused, as well as slightly alarmed, as the once quiet bar was filled with a small gathering a new people. The hyuran that had tried to cozy up to the pink-haired Miqo'te had been particularly humorous to watch. That one might be trouble. From the quiet of her corner table, Tabrett rose with a scrape of her chair over the flooring. With sure hands, she hefted her large weapon onto her back and once it was secured, she lifted her mug from the table top with a firm grip around the rim. She was light on her feet, moving with agile grace for the door. Lifting the glass, she called to her sister miqo'te behind the bar: "I will bring this back." It seemed that most had abandoned the Roegadyn outside for the cooler tempature of the bar, but hadn't the man been injured? Her curiosity drew her to see, carrying her outside over the warm sands with her mug of strong, dark ale in her hand.
  21. In the tavern, the heat was only slightly less oppressive than outside. At least within the mudbrick buidling the fans hanging from the ceiling stirred the air some in their slow rotation. At a table set out of the way near a wall, a Miqo'te was reclining with her feet propped on another chair, ankles crossed as she watched through the thick panes window until the crowd started to disperse. Then it was, for now, dismissed from her attention with a flicker of her ears. Tabrett turned back to the tavern, taking in the newcomers with her dark eyes. Her observation was a quiet, gentle kind but the large axe that leaned against the wall said she could be all sorts of trouble if she wished. She was one of the mercenaries that had come to guard the outpost, though admittedly she was new. A few months spent in a quiet place like this seemed like a good bit of vacation.
