I'd love to see Ranger in FFXIV. I wanted to make a bandit bowman character, but I stopped caring because I didn't want to be cornered into singing songs and dancing around. Thief would be a lot of fun, I've always loved Samurai, and Corsair is one of my favorites. Ranger was mentioned by name as a Job for Archer sometime ago. I wish I remembered what live letter but it was really the first time they hinted at 2 jobs for one class. I am sure someone can find it. So far Ranger, Red Mage, Thief, Ninja, Dark Knight and Samurai are all jobs that have been mentioned by name in developer posts. Scout, a Great Sword Class and Musketeer have been talked about by developers as new classes.

Just my thoughts for a classic FF job tree representation: Archer - Bow - Bard and Ranger (with Critter Call Ability from FF 5) Marauder - Axe - Warrior and Beserker Lancer - Dragoon and Blue Mage (a la Lancet from FF 10) Gladiator - Sword - Paladin and Red Mage (Using 'En' Magic like FF 11) Pugilist - Knuckles - Monk and Dancer Thaumaturge - Staff - Black Mage and Time Mage Conjurer - Wand - White Mage and Geomancer Arcanist - Tome - Summoner and Scholar Scout - Dagger - Thief and Ninja Guardian - Great Sword - Samurai and Dark Knight Musketeer - Gun - Corsair and Engineer (Puppeteer like) I know I will catch flack for this, but it fun to think about. I can see Musketeer coming in an expansion with Scout and Guardian being added first. All the big FF jobs are there and each class gets a support job and a damage dealing job to balance them out. Just a cool thought Who wouldn't love to see Mime in FF again?

Hey anybody know if Thief will ever return
faceman7381 replied to Gideon Aryeh's topic in FFXIV Discussion
It has been said that a scout class that uses daggers as its main weapon from the armory will be coming at some point and that thief and ninja will come from it. The other joins that have been mentioned are dark knight samurai and red mage specifically. Musketeer has been talked about as a class but little beyond that. One can speculate as to which classes the above listed joins will pair with and what jobs Musketeer could have. -
The best thing I can say to my friend is this: Many people write some of the most amazing back stories you will ever read in your life here. I enjoy very much reading them. But all of that story can be told over a camp fire in one night in game. Then what are you? That is the question you must ask yourself. What are you? What makes your character real? What do they desire? What drives them? What makes them unique and memorable? There will lots of mages fighters singers dancers all kinds of stuff out there when we go live again. You will be one of them as will I and everyone else. What makes you different? I agree with Eva that it is more grey area then a good vs evil thing. Cloud and Squall were the lead good guys of FF 7 and FF 8 respectively but they could hardly be considered D & D Paladins but they did good by their acts. As far as the powers thing I agree that people can tend to say I am the best at this but speaking from 1.0 exp that is as far as I saw it go. Sometimes it is just better to say I am a very good *blank* or I am very skilled at *blank*. That way people recognize your skill without being turned off by your need to remind everyone how good you are. Meeting other people can be hard I won't lie to you on that. Even if you are fortunate enough to catch someone outside their group and/or shell chances are they will have to cut a session short because they have to get back to their group. People including myself are people of habit. They will always go back to what they are most comfortable with. I don't think you are doing anything wrong in trying to get in on RP you just need to throw yourself out there a bit and see who will take you in and if that group works for you. I would love to hearmore about your character's personality and goals for that reason. Thank you and good luck!

Welcome back. We met long before. I was Father Hesper LaLue then. Maybe we will see each other again.

Yes and Yes! The Assassin position is still available and I would like to hear some of your ideas on that position/character. We are trying to keep it split down the middle for gender, but we need more males to make an even split. You may also want to look at the linkshell forum thread under The Seven, as it better explains this concept now.

I will mentor anyone as need be as I offered to do so in the server thread as well.

RP Servers: A Discussion (mods please read before locking..)
faceman7381 replied to Mtoto Wamoto's topic in RP Discussion
I agree with Aysun and Ty here with everything they said. Kylin is exactly right in that there are groups within this group by as he said that is all games. As someone myself who has been on the game since day 1 I was when cast out of these groups but as roughed it out and as others said here I gave a little of myself to get more. Konner was not my first character. Also I am not level 50 on any class nor have I unlocked any jobs. I knew the game was gonna change so I waited it out and RPed mostly in case there were to be level requirements at the start of AAR for quests. All that being said and now I am sure I appear as a Legacy Elitist I have mostly been speaking with new people to work with when the game goes live. I wanna RP and level with new people and help anyway I can. I think I am at level 30 gladiator and have like maybe 20k in gil that I have no prob in sharing gil to those in need. We are what we are whether we are vets or not. However I like being a poor weak vet and will gladly help new peeps anyway I can. Talk to me if you have concerns ideas or thoughts on anything. In RL all I do is work on peeps problems and concerns. Its what I do and like doing it. -
http://niallstafford86.files.wordpress.com/2012/05/logomark18-04-12.jpg[/img] The Seven "To understand each other And to share your feelings with each other Those things are like bubbles Hiding themselves in the grains of time So I have lost all hope Believing it would be impossible to grab them Until I met you" "How long have you been carrying This pain inside you? How long have you been hiding The sadness in your eyes while you smile? If we now embrace the miracle of our encounter And look into each other's eyes, we become stronger If this is not what is called love Then what is love?" Seven is the number of happiness. Long has the number seven been associated with good luck and fortune. .......Seven souls, not alike and yet, none more fortunate to be of the same....... Together now, they shall become as one...... Not for themselves....... or even for each other...... Theirs is of a combined fate for the others yet known to them...... for those who cannot shall find that these seven shall for them........

So glad someone caught this. Also, what Momo said makes a lot of sense to me. The jobs and classes you have in the game are supposed to be learned over the course of years in a RP sense. For instance, and I don't mean to plug my own character as some sort of perfect example but, Uther is a dragoon. Even when I'm inevitably going to have to level Lancer, he's still a dragoon in my mind. He's been training to be a dragoon since he was five years old. So the idea of someone switching jobs on the fly back-and-forth in a fight from one extreme to the next is kind of a foreign concept to me and it doesn't hold much ground from a realistic RP sense. I would go as far as to say it's insulting to the lore, but that might be a bit extreme. Seriously though, the only other jobs I can see Uther as are Paladin and maybe one day Archer. And the Paladin shift I have in mind will be RP'd over the course of months. I just don't get why this is an issue. I strongly believe in RPing a character who is a master of his or her art, and has put in the dedication and discipline to truly earn that title. With that comes very few opportunities to switch from warrior to black mage mid-combat. I realize OOC complications may arise in combat, but if you're a competent player even that shouldn't be too much of a problem. This is just me though, and everyone is different. This exactly why I RP Samurai now. It just doesnt make sense that when they add samurai (and they have said several times it was coming) that BOOM I am now a Samurai and know everything about being one. It just doesnt add up. However I understand this is a game and FF has a history of changing jobs in battle like FF5 and FF X2. To each their own of course.

Greetings, my friend! One of the things that is cool about FF is that classic Japanese love affair with rivals. Seifer and Squall are perhaps the best representation of this, but Cloud and Sephiroth and Zidane and Kuja. These are groups of characters locked together in struggle. Such would be my idea here. The introduction of a rival for my character, Konner, but more and most importantly, a character that will add spice and life to an on-going, ever-changing story. The idea would be that you were hired to kill Konner by someone from his home lands for crimes against his clan. (The details are not important, as the assassin wouldn't need to know them and I am not one of those guys who ubbers my backstory.) A duel would ensue and from there a draw between the two would occur. Having found a match (and after reading your bio, it seems you favor the blade and testing your skills with it) they would part ways. This would all be to set up the ability for you to come and go out of the group we are forming as you please. Sometimes helping, sometimes trying to kill/disrupt me or any of the other members. This would allow you freedom to do whatever was needed to make for interesting events (except kill people of course ). The only time anything would be staged would be the first duel described above. After that everything would be up to you when and where you might pop in to spice things up. This idea is of course free for anyone else to reply to. I hope you enjoy the concept idea.
