Plots, plots, and more plots. I cannot have enough plots. Maybe its the English major in me but I have to have a looming sense of conflict hanging over my head. Be it retationship conflict, heroes versus villian conflict, or moral conflict, there is a need in me to have a sort of story going on and the realization something dramatic could happen. Because its all about contrast. Once I have my conflict, I can find more power in the calm moments. Personal interactions are more tender when conflict has led to them occurring. Plus I love the dynamic of a push-pull story. It fires my up creativity and I know many people love the same kind of rp. This is probably why, no matter the venue, I normally play the antagonist. I have been a devout paladin trying crush a criminal ring, I have been a ambitious military captian , and I have been an insane bomb kitty planning on destroying Ul'dah. But no matter what, I am the antagonist, someone to be rallied against by other player characters. I love giving people that 'villian' to go against, though I never make my characters black and white villians. In my mind they are heroes in their own way, even murderous little Jin'li was a tragic hero in my mind. Its exciting and fun especially since I'm incredibly friendly and relaxed in real life. Though I do enjoy small groups for in depth character development. Big events are awesome, but they are the action sequences of my rp. Lol

Your Character's Weapons/Artifacts and How They Acquired Them
Askier replied to Dat Oni's topic in Character Workshop
Askier's magitek arm: this is the only gadget worth mentioning because the rest of his weapons are grenades. Askirr's left arm is metal from the shoulder down. While he has difficulty manipulating the limb without looking at it because it feels nothing, the arm has to little surprises. It can act like a vice and not let go and, Askier has installed a six chamber revolver into the arm itself. Atrium's 'Kindness': Atrium's weapon is an axe she picked up off a dead caravan guard she killed. At the time it was nothing special but she has slowly been modifying the weapon, improving the steal and haft to make it a more effective killing tool. She has named the weapon 'Kindness'. -
*hangs head* Oh gawd. You are going to get a Crow on your side. OY. That's not fair. Shhh you! Roen's not the target! Uh oh. Run. Or give her something shiny and deadly. Atrium likes gifts, for they are kind. ...or so I'm led to believe. Ooooo shiney!

*Raises Atrium's hand* She meets those requirements.

Atrium stared at the flame burning in the forge. The orange glow flickered back and forth. Her body was rigid and there was a twinge of a sensation she was unfamiliar with. It was a twinge of fear. A shape moved between her and the glow and the hold the flickering flame over Atrium was broken as she looked up at blacksmith, a tan faced hyur. The hyur slowly spun her axe in his hands, iinspecting his work on the blade. "Anything else today?" the blacksmith asked as he handed the weapon over to Atrium. The Crow reached out and took her weapon back, her eyes noting the new polish on the metal and how the weapon's cutting edge was now knick free. "This one is satisfied with the work on my weapon."Atrium answered. The smith was about to turn, when Atrium spoke up, remembering what her new teacher of the axe had told her the night before. "This one wonders if you ever teach how to improve ore into weapons as you do." The blacksmith raised his eyebrow as he looked over at her. "You mean smith?" the man asked. Atrium nodded. The hyur was thoughtful for a moment. "No offense little lady," the smith said slowly, "But the way you looked at my forge makes me think you aren't up to it. You looked as if that flame was the fire of Ifrit itself." Atrium pressed her lips into a thin line, recalling how the tongues of flames had devoured her first body so easily, and how if they did so again, there was no coming back, no Voice to revive her. "Perhaps this one could help with things that did not involve flame, such as the anvil?" The hyur considered that and then shrugged. "Won't make you a very good smith but help is help. I could use someone to help shape hot metal and sharpening weapons. Won't pay you much though, especially if you can't be around fire much." Atrium was silent. She should have walked away. But Ragnar had wanted her to do this if he was going to teach her how to use her axe in a more dangerous mamnner and she did want to kill more effectivly with it. Also, all her dears ones kept saying Atrium needed to be doing something other than just killing people all the time. So why not make things that let other people kill each other and make Nald'thal richer? "This one is okay with little Gil. Am curious and have promise to keep. And you have not burned yet." The smith chuckled and patted his leather gear. "That's what this is for. If you are serious about helping me, take off that ridiculous wolf fur coat and put on one of the aprons and those extra gloves. And stand by the anvil. We have a large shipment to make." "What are we making?" Atrium asked as she removed her coat, revealing chainmail underneath. Atrium watched the flames danced as she stood by the anvil, trying to keep the the fear under control as she reminded herself that it was controlled fire and this hyur was around it every day and had not burned to death. "Nails. Lots and lots and lots of big nails" the hyur laighed. "The exciting life of a blacksmith, eh?" The hyur began pumping the bellows with his foot, the fire grew larger as heplaced a long bit of metal into smoldering embers and Atrium gazed at the dancing flames, wondering if this was a very bad idea.

*Jin'li part of Atrium rises up and Atrium face palms at Osric's post* "Master Adin, would you like this one to start laying your clothes out for you the night before? Because your lack of shirt is embarrassing you and me."
-

He did just torture a dude . . . We should do lunch. *shudders* Come on Osric, you know you want to meet Nat at the Bismark. Have some wine, enjoy the view from the windows, discuss Taeros, plot, be evil, . . .I sense the conflict in you, Osric. . .

... *sighs theatrically as he pulls out a coinpurse and settles down to wait* I am not entertained. . . -
Were I not so invested in my main already, I'd hop the border straight into full-on villainy. Just have your main character slowly turn to evil, works for me! He did just torture a dude . . .

Excuse me. The Red Wings HQ is in the same ward as our house. Big difference. Either way Askier has enough fire power to level ward 6 and prevent anyone in Ul'dah from sleeping ever again. -
Were I not so invested in my main already, I'd hop the border straight into full-on villainy. . . .well when you do finally give in and leap to the dark side, take Atrium with you. Someone has to bake bad guy cookies to lure others to the joy of evil.

Ask the Phoenix [OPEN IC Advice Column]
Askier replied to ZindelloTarantella's topic in Town Square (IC)
Dear Phoenix, This one wishes to inquire about the best way to apologize for killing a woman's husband while said husband was instructing this one on proper use of an axe. The husband instructed me to hit him, so I hit him with the sharp side as ordered. Am unsure what to do. Signed, A little black bird -

At the moment Askier is unfit for duty for some BS claim of 'mental trauma and violent outburst (okay so its not BS lol)' or something. So he has the time. But how to over come the dislike for Nat? Lol. She has some shiny cannons that need shooting~ . . .the fact that that offer would probably work if presented to Askier correctly makes me realize Askier is just a giant child with a dangerous obsession. -.- But they're just Ishgardian knockoffs! Not fancy magitek cannons! Explosions are still explosions. -
A certain scavenger would like to know if a certain mercenary is available for a clandestine discussion this evening. ...on-topic, said scavenger detests Eorzeans as spoiled and weak-willed children in need of guidance. Who better to teach them discipline than he? Stop plotting things! I made an evil Osric for Osric to rp and he likes the power. . . *sobs*

Birds of a feather flock together? Or is it cause we are way cooler than good guys? Or is it the cookies I give you? Askier, should get over his case of 'the morals' which he contacted, and work with nat again. Askier thinks he is always in the right and everyone else is wrong if they challenge him, except Ashwynn and Alexei. He didn't think of himself as a baddie when he tried to blow up Ul'dah because he was trying to save his sister, but many do. He doesn't think of himself as a murderer but he's done that too. He sees himself as a victim of Natalie and I tar's plot to abduct Roen, even though he helped orchestrate it, and he sees no problem with his recklessness and violent temper, someone else always makes him mad he likes to think. Overall, Askier is misunderstood and he is a long way from the villian he was when I started rping him way back. I mean he works for Red Wings trying to keep Ul'dah safe now. -.- Never saw that coming. But there is always that chance he could snap and go full terrorist again. . . Atrium, meanwhile, is much more simple. She kills and sees nothing wrong with it cause they were going to die eventually anyway.

Anelia should try the 'Drink Dirty Water' cleanse. Is cheap and -always- effective. *dumps all the tea into Vesper Bay* I mean swamp water Ossy, not tea! *growls* Now where am I gonna get my caffeine fix? I swear I'm likely to kill someone till I get my morning cup of tea.

What's something nobody expects your character to be/do?
Askier replied to Unnamed Mercenary's topic in Fun Prompts
For Askier: To sit still and be rational for an entire conversation. For Atrium: To not offer a severed limb to one she cares about.
