Cheers! There are all-kind of RPers in-game and it means there different type of Role-players. Some people are very creative, use "fancy words" and have awesome style in RP, and someones are little bit more simple (I'm simple one and I tend to feel same as you do about my performance). Even styles are different, it doesn't mean another one is 'inferior'. You can experience great moments with both. Reason why we get easily anxiety about our own performance is worry that we don't give same experience another person as this does. We don't wanna disappoint anyone. I have noticed that talking OOCly about performance with someone you have RPed with, allows to see good points in performance. With feedback I have been able to improve and cheer someone else. I think feedback is always good, it prevents "bad thoughts" in head (Like: "I wonder if (s)he hated RP with me." "I bet (s)he was bored whole session"). As long feedback is honest, it great! Like many others might have said that already: You aren't alone with this! We learn and grow from our experiences.

Don't worry about derailing. It is all good. With these experiences and thought you have told here are really helpful. They allows me think things differently and somehow "outside the box". Sometimes it feels like your own thinking isn't enough I do like idea where you use your personal feeling to affect ICly, because everybody cannot be "best friends" and stuff. But it usually makes RP short, but maybe it is good. Why RP should be always long sessions in one place? Even 5min RP can be "delicious" and maybe during time it turns out into something bigger. What comes to "Making Connections", I have been looking into it. I just need to psych myself and be brave and approach there.

First thank you all for answers! I think I'm getting idea here and feeling more self-confident. It is true I might feel I lack contacts like there was said. I have joined to some RP-linkshells and made some contacts via them (local blacksmith, another is very good friend of Delni). Maybe I should try get more active in them and really be brave and just "bomb others" if someone wants to create something. I try make new ones and get outside of comfort-zone! Also having goal would be good, so I'll try think some goal. I have been in some events but timezones or lack of escort have made it "impossible" go to one. Or it is weak excuse I'm making Also adding some combat skill might be smart idea, but learning one will take time because she have work to do - in guild and in Free Company. Hi! I'll try to keep this short and clear and I welcome advices/tips/etc. Thank you in advance! This is also first time when I dare to rely on community. Summary and background::idea: When I started to play this game I never role-played in game and either thought I will start role-playing in this game, but time passed and I saw RPers in-game and got interested. Then I met some people and thanks to them flame to RP was lit up. I started RPing with current character (Delni since 1.0), build background story for Delni (name, family, career), since there was no fantasia/name changes and I don't have motivation/time to level up another character (I have alt, but leveling all again makes me bored and I need levels to get what I want). With time I have put so much effort to Delni and I'm happy what I have achieved, specially when I think that this has been my first time ever to RP. And I think I have kinda become attached to character, since I have been playing it since 1.0 and I have seen so much trouble to make background/story/character for RP. Problem 1: Interactions:moogle: Now lately I have been struggling with my RP. I feel I'm repeating myself over and over again. And it feels like I'm not advancing at all. I found myself relying too much on contacts I have already, because Delni is very cautious with strangers(specially 'Mercs', soldiers etc.)When I meet someone I know, I talk with this and after while my brains go blank and I don't know how to continue. And it usually always is basic "sit down somewhere and talk". Sometimes I improvise something, like "Hi. I'm going to visit Hyrstmill pickup something, but according to reports from Adders tells that Ixali activity in area has increased. Mind to come with me? Just in-case." These improvised "quests" are fun, but sometimes it feels like I'm only one wanting something from others. And using same "quests" again and again makes me think if I'm recycling things again and just boring others with same plain things. Problem 2: Travelling:chocobo: Because Delni is character with no combat/magic/teleportation skills, she requires almost always escort when she goes somewhere (Except Gridania, Lavender Beds, some "safer" areas in Eastern/Central Shroud). I would like to visit other areas too, but I need to think reason for her to go there, and usually this requires escort(s) too. For example she has visited Coerthas (FC work), Costa Del Sol/Bronze lake (vacation), Ul'dah (Weavers' guild, shopping), Limsa (Culinarians'/fishers' guild, shopping), but with escort(s). There is always meaning behind. She could go other places too but you have to assure her safety and reason for trip. She could be leatherworker (repairs)/cook(everybody eats!)/bookkeeper(caravans requires always someone to take care of cargo and content) Problem 3: Relationships:love: Another thing bugging me is relationships. There has been times when someone confesses feelings to Delni. They have been always rejected, because I kinda went "shock". I don't know why. Because I'm guy playing miqo'te (F)? Or am I worried that I'm fooling someone to think me as girl even in reality I'm guy. It is not like I'm hiding fact that I'm guy. I have witnessed many times when people find out I'm guy, they are usually "No way! Are you serious? I was 110% you are girl! LOL!". After "shock" they jokes about this and we share good laugh and continue. But sometimes I'm worried about reactions. Psst! I know! RP is RP! It has nothing to do with RL, but still.. Crossroad I'm in now::arrow: Path 1:I keep Delni and keep going and trying to improve it Path 2:I change name and fantasia -> No more Delni (some RP-friends have told me they don't want Delni to disappear and I don't want Delni to disappear after all trouble and "history") Path 3:I make alternative character and keep Delni (But leveling everything again isn't my thing [Don't have time] and I need levels/gear to make this character to be what I want) Path 4: I make same as I did in Path 3, but I will use name change and fantasia to make alt into Delni and Main into this other character (Problem, Delni has all achievements/seasonal gear/titles/contacts I want to keep on Delni) Note: My new character would be elezen male, details are still "secret" Wish: I would like to experience "combats"/"fights"/find myself in strange places in RP too. Ofcourse taking part to fights is not important, others can do that. Basic self-defense is always available like knife/kick into "sensitive areas"/sand into eyes/etc. Questions in my mind to this: :? 1) Have I limited Delni's "abilities" too much? 2) Am I too strict with background? 3) Am I over-thinking about some stupid details? 4) Am I trying to achieve too much? 5) Am I too serious? 6) Should I think something where she learns new "skills" in RP? (personally it feels kinda odd that 26years old learns suddenly combat skills and can fight against monsters and start hunting. Specially when you think her background where she has been always artisan/well-educated and how she have lived inside city whole life) 7) Am I just too devoted to character because I had it since 1.0? Short recap about Delni::!: A) Secretary/manager in Free Company and artisan in Leatherworkers' guild B) Skills: Leatherworker, cooking, reading, calculating C) Delni don't have any combat/magic/teleportation skills D) She needs almost always escort when going somewhere E) Cautious when meeting new people, specially when meeting mercenaries/soldiers/hired-arms F) Delni have randomly "quests" available other RPers, primarily for ones Delni knows. G) My First RP character ever It turned out to be bigger than I thought. I hope you will comment, because comments will help me improve as role-player and maybe even help me get solution to my struggle. And ofcourse improve my character! Thank you! :thumbsup:

I decide talk about natural phenomenas that usually are thought to be more "fantasy-thing", even they can be very common. We just don't have time, possibility to see them or interest to pay attention to them nowadays. This is kinda sad, since we don't appreciate these so much anymore. In Finland we have been lucky and we had 2 natural phenomenas this week. Beginning of the week we had auroras borealis (aka. northern lights) so strong that they were visible in Helsinki too and all that "light pollution" from city didn't hide them. Unfortunately I wasn't able to witness this There is Panorama picture from Tampere in web for people interested End of the week (today) there was solar eclipse. I tried to follow it, but didn't have proper equipment and it was cloudy, so I just had to watch it as LIVE from youtube. Welcome as well! You should be alright. So far community has been kind and welcoming for new and unexperienced RPers, like me. And I'm sure they understand if you have busy time in RL. When I started this game, I never had RP or thought RPing in MMO. But look at me! Here I'm RPing and enjoying it! And it's thanks to people in community! I hope you find your way to Balmung.

(I just started to make my own wiki, so it's still quite plain, but Ill update it in time) What sort of RP you are looking for? In RP Delni is artisan and non-combat character, so she won't take run into huge adventures. Ofcourse she moves around, but not much away from Shroud unless there is reason. And if she has business in dangerous areas, she will hire people to protect. Oh yeah, I'm from EU so timezone stuff (GMT+3) Do you think this can form new contact? Hopefully yes, if you have questions feel free to ask!

Interesting ideas you brought there and I have to say it would be nice. Sitting only in inn/tavern/house for RP can become boring if its only form of RP. Once our FC did Lost city of Amdapor to find out more information about lost person and how to find him. Well, we did it and found out that this missing person has used powers in area to transfer himself to other "realm" and story goes on. One FC member is still looking for this person and we others help him to success. About hosting/making event: I have been planning one idea, where I need some group to protect my cargo from external threat, from point A to point B. Delni is only crafter and not fighter, she need someone to protect her. Then there is issue... Delni doesnt trust mercs too much . Answering to questions: 1. Sure, why not if there is need for artisan 2. Depends about event. Sometimes you must plan thing ahead to make them work. 3. Well, in RP level doesn't matter, but if level cap can make thing too easy or hard. 4. Don't know how to answer here, sry Hopefully this was what you wanted from us ^^

:moogle: I'll try to my best to help and hopelly I can be helpful. I have been walking around Twelveswood and trying to find RPs, but usually I have ended up sitting by myself in some camp or Canopy. I have met couple people to RP with but unfortunately most of them went to spend most of their time in Ul'dah (Well, because most people are there and its good place for contacts) since there is more happenings and after visiting Ul'dah, Gridania can feel empty and kinda boring. My character ain't much traveler or adventurer, so she spends most of her time in Twelveswood. Doing her "everyday and 'boring' work as local leatherworker". So this is why I wish more activity to Gridania too. When time comes, I can relay information about organisation Delni is in and help you to improve this awareness in stage 1.
