From her vantage point behind the dockside crates, Moonshadow Darkly, temptress of the night, gazed upon the man who glinted in the night like earthborn starlight. Even from a distance, she could feel the cold power radiating from him. A hunter. Like herself. Only.. a hunter of what? He was no darkling prince. But his coat.. where did he get it? Ice and turpor filled her long-dead veins. It couldn't be.. no.. The more she thought of it, the more she knew it to be true. There was only one such skin that produced such a supple, sophisticated line to a trenchcoat like that. Only one such forlorn pelt that glinted back in unsung horror at the immovable sky above.. Moonshadow bit back a cry of rage and fingered a wicked moonsteel knife hanging at her belt.
-
Moonshadow Darkly ran a delicate sable hand through her silken, mussed hair and breathed in deeply the scents of the strange new city. Under starlight, like the rest of her kind, her skin glittered back in response, as if echoing a lover's sigh. Salt, wetness, stale beer... She exhaled then breathed in again. Flesh. Somewhere nearby, a drunken sailor was swilling back his last jug of spirits. Moonshadow grinned and the moonlight glinted off every perfect knife-blade in her mouth. Her violet eyes shimmered with bloodlust. "Oh sailor," she murmured in candied poison tones, "you poor unfortunate wanderer. How much we have in common, and yet how unalike we are! Are you aware, how close your end is? Or do you welcome the eternal kiss of death nightly as you make monotonous love to your drink? Will you thank me, when the time comes, or will you hurl your foulest curses at my natural desires to your last breath?" She sighed plaintively and looked up at the sky. "Sailor, sailor... how far we two must have traveled in our time.. but as you so heartlessly wrenched fish from the bosom of the deep sea's embrace to sustain you 'til port, so must I become your monster, your delectable beast, to sustain me through mine own adventure." The sailor stirred in his drunken stupor and Moonshadow licked her lips with anticipation. Yet her mind tethered the desires of her stomach and heart. Not yet.. the others have not yet arrived. Be still, be silent. Crouching low in the darkness, the huntress held her instincts back and awaited the arrival of her darkling kin.

Setting: Limsa-Lominsa, the docks For ages untold, the Dark Ones prowled the streets of Ala Mihgo under the shadow of a weeping moon. They preyed upon the weak, the drunk, and the foolhardy, savoring every luscious, dripping bite with the delicacy of gourmands. They were the Ageless, the Cursed. The vampires of legend. That is, until the fall of the city-state. The Garleans destroyed utterly and without mercy. In a mercurial heartbeat, everything the Dark Ones knew beyond memory was gone. Their homes, their beloved, their precious food. Among the rubble they crept, surviving pitifully off of rats and the few chocobo they could find still tethered in their ruined stalls. Until one day, Moonshadow Darkly, the velvet-skinned huntress, had a vision: a tunnel, shrouded in mist, leading from the ruins under the great continent itself and beyond the sea to a foggy port town. The initials L-L were burned into her mind. When she awoke, she gathered those that were wise enough to listen and together they found the tunnel and made the journey. Now, half starved they have arrived in Limsa-Lominsa in the dead of night, their only light is a sliver of Menphina's ivory smile to guide them through the ebony sky as they prowl their new home and weave a new song in the verses of their people: the carmine song, of unsung longing. RULES: Mary-Sues, superheroes, demons, demigods, villains, vamps, psychic prostitutes, were-animals of any kind, disembodied aetherytes, orphans, ghost pirates (no living pirates, please), flaming zombies (take that as you will), cyborg monks, and adorable pixies only please. Standard run-of-the-mill "Oooh look at me I scored a zero on the Mary Sue chart" characters need not apply. PM Aveline and/or Moonshadow Darkly if you are interested.

Yeah I have confirmed by the Vana/FFOchat owners that they have switched to irc.ffochat.com, but the irc.vanachat.com URL should work as a forward. The vanachat.com domain expired for a day yesterday night but they have renewed it for another year. Some ISPs like Comcast are still caching the vanachat.com domain as expired, so that is why you are receiving errors. If you cannot connect through vanachat, just use ffochat.com, it's all the same thing.

Maybe if they put in female Roegadyns?

The names of the gods are what get me. I constantly have to look up Nymeia, for example. "Roegadyn" just sounds so clunky on the tongue, I usually shorten it to Roeg (pronouncing it "rogue").

Breaking up the forums: I will be honest, there are a lot of times when I just log in, look at the topics, and click "Mark as read," particularly when it's on topics like the "Lumiel Refuge Camp" or "For those of you who have forgotten.." However, looking over the forum's structure I think at the most we could split up "Lounge" a bit, since it seems that putting non-RP matters, game mechanics discussions, AND site/forum discussions into one sub-forum is a bit much. As for 12-page topics... forum members here all just go way off topic constantly. I know some of the forum mods have had to split topics a few times to trim off the off-topic stuff into new threads (the anime discussion thread was 3 pages of off-topic discussion by the time I noticed it, and it quickly spread to 3 more pages soon after the split), and I don't think adding new sub-forums is going to do anything about that. We just need more people with bright blue names patroling the forums to split off-topic discussions into the proper sub-forum, and we need all members to be more mindful of staying on topic. Server queues and population: Even at FFXI's peak, there were never server queues. There may be more people playing FFXIV but I still doubt it will be like WoW where they have a hojillion servers and there's still server queues. Even then, the only time I ever had an issue with server queues in WoW was when I had a character on the highest population Latin American server (for better Spanish language aquisition. ¡Para la Horda!), and even then I had to wait maybe 15 minutes at peak times. My personal stance is, the more people on the server the better. I don't understand all this anti-social talk for picking our server. >_> Podcast Big News: Congrats on becoming part of Aetheryte Radio! That is excellent for you guys. Like you said, it will definitely help make roleplayers and our community more well-known to the general FFXIV population. I do have some concerns that moving the podcast (and changing the name of it) away from the RPC will lessen a bit of the RPC community's vitality, but from the interest expressed by others on this forum, it seems like there will likely be a new podcast or two to fill that gap and keep a podcast focused on the RPC and its members specifically.

I can potentially come on as a guest if you need people, but will of course cede the spot to someone who hasn't been on before. What is the episode about?
-
TALE has been talking about starting up a podcast once the game starts up where we kind of dramatize some scenes from our storyline RP like how you're describing. We would definitely be in for participating in a cross-guild radio play for the RPCV! (We really need RP Radio station on iTunes or something where we can just play all our collective podcasts 24/7 ) Yeah just make sure you guys have a *throws a folding chair* sound effect ready for these segments. Hahaha.. but seriously that sounds like so much fun.

Thank you! <3 I'm planning on writing one or two more for this character by the end of September.

Eorzea - Making of a Realm 2: In Pursuit of Real Monsters
Aveline replied to Tadir's topic in FFXIV News
It's a tech demo, which is always nice, but it still doesn't draw me in to the game itself. -
Eorzea - Making of a Realm 2: In Pursuit of Real Monsters
Aveline replied to Tadir's topic in FFXIV News
I'm still waiting for them to put out a trailer for the game as epic as the one they made for FFXI. So far all I've seen is "oooh shiny, you all like shiny things right?" Where is the fricking substance already? -
I got my alpha/beta invite through the last ZAM competition. :3

If I had to guess, I'd say armourer but in actuality I have no idea. Hopefully they implement armourer into the 3rd stage this time around and we can find out.

Sending tickets to everyone on the Eorzeapedia list. I'm on Eorzeapedia as "Aveline" but don't worry about sending me one back, I don't need any & I don't want to lessen anyone's chances. :approve:

Aveline finished pocketing her half of the earnings and quietly slipped out the door, back into the desert.

kk #FF14RPChat has been made at irc.vanachat.org Enjoy!
-
Yeah but the thing about using vanachat (which also works in mibbit like you described) is that it allows for us to be part of the FFXIV broader community, which was one of our goals when creating the RPC I believe. I dunno it just makes it easier for people who already use vanachat for other channels (the beta channel, linkshell channels, Eorzea channel, etc.) to participate without having to log in to a second server constantly and register a nick with a different server as well. Plus it puts us right there in the list of FFXIV communities where everyone can see us. Let's stop being antisocial and play nicely with the other FFXIV kids!
-
OK I highly suggest that we move the RPC chat room over to Vanachat. It will make easier for people to find us, and no one has to download anything to use the room. http://vanachat.com Vanachat was set up to be a big IRC community for FFXI and now FFXIV players and groups are free to set up their own rooms. Once you do, it will be visible on that menu there (unless you set it up to be hidden so you don't get random people wandering in, but the RPC might actually benefit from that).

Yawning, Aveline looked around the bar with growing disinterest. She'd been there for hours and she had only planned on stopping in town briefly. Counting out the gil that had been placed in the mug she'd set out, she handed half of her earnings to Faythriel, coming to about 200 gil. "There you are, sister," she said. "Things seem to be quieting down a bit and I'm due back in Ul'dah to meet up with some friends by nightfall. Do you live around the city? Maybe we could meet up again sometime when we aren't acting as impromptu waitresses?"
-
And oh shoot, does she look boyish? She's not supposed to. Blaaahh. Back to the drawing board! *awkward* lol my bad D: Sorry I thought you were going for male yeah
