balmung Astrologian Looking For Star Maps (and RP buddies!)
SilverWolfIMHP replied to Virella's topic in Chronicled Connections
Hello! I Rp a Lalafell who uses the Astrologian divining cards in fortune telling. I have a blast doing so. I'm also looking forward to the new class. His name is Gigiwai Momowai right now he's a Thaumaturge level 18. Thought that just because I'm new. Not just to the server but the game as well as the franchise. I'm happy thought I can play my fortune telling and it fits in with the lore! -
Maybe not the Sun Seekers. But the Keepers of the Moon from what I know worship Menphina both a female deity a goddess of love and symbol is the Moon (maybe linked to the monthly cycle of heat?) And the culture is a highly matriarchal society. All are female centered views so they could very well have a stronger Heat drive then the Sun Seekers. Speaking about feline/human hybrids male cat's sexual organs are barbed. So are Miqo'te the same? Of course we can assume no in this case. Being bipedal the Miqo'te sexual behavior would be different then the quadruped felines. Still an interesting question to ponder.

I'm U.S. EST but work night shift. Normally get home between 5:am and 6:am so often logging in from nothing better to do at 6:30 to burn off some steam. On days I'm off work I'm either gaming or reading a book. So being able to chat to other creatures of the Night would ease that boring time between 1 and sunrise.

I'm tossing in my two Gils here. Why well it's kind of connected to why I chose to turn my Fortune teller from a Miqo'te to a Lalafell. But first... Long long time ago in a RP far far away... NO NOT THAT ONE! Way back when I used to Rp in the AOL chatrooms. Yeah that how old I am AOL was cool at one time back when DSL was the fast new thing and you still had the dial up sounds. Where was I? Oh yeah well there were some RP chat rooms where there was the CAT GIRL. Cute playful humans with ears and tail. Me being more RPer then CyberRPer I turn the tables. I made a Male Cat man. I also RPed him more of a beast then human. Wild, hunted and ate raw meat, growled and normal grunted instead of talked. Sound familiar? I also RPed a Khajiit on the Elder Scrolls Online Beta I was in. Again I went with a natural born hunter a stalking predator. So back on topic I first was going to make a Miqto'te because I played a Human/Beast before. Ears twitch claws tapping on tables, feeling claustrophobic in cities you name it. Then I thought how to play the Fortune teller who took the time and focus to become a master of Divination. Things didn't fit. Maybe if I made him OLD letting age guide him along the path to that level of focus. Didn't quite work either so I change his race to Lalafell. Will I play a Miqto'te Heck yea! Not as a fortune teller but as a hunter, a predator, survivor living on whit, skill, and cunning. Now here is a real question involved with this topic. How much Beast is in a Miqto'te? The Art of them they are more or less Human with cat ears and tail, where a Khajiit are bi-ped felines. How savage could a Miqto'to life be? There bound to be trade with non-Miqto'te they have weapons and training enough to go toe to toe with the Guardians. Equipment made by Miqto'te is on par with what you can get elsewhere. They are even moving into other culture's cities. Speaking about WOW Kellach I played a Peon Orc. With the whole "Me not that kind of ORC!" line.

*Pulls out a stool* Welcome to the party!

Greetings. Your not the only new player around. My character is level 15 now. I'm still learning things but so far so good. The Community seems friendly I haven't seen any toxicity.

I can also do it on here or in PM. Just give me a basic Rp of your character so I can get a grasp of his/her personality. Choose how many cards I should read 1 up to the number 9. More then nine tends to be a bit harder to RP out main reason I use the Norse Rune Divination system instead of a Tarot card system.
-
OOc okay I'm a tad rusty on my Roleplaying fortune telling. Got my cheat sheet up, my dice roller set up. Just need a little practice before opening shop in Balmung. So who would like me to do a Forum fortune for your character? Fact a fortune isn't necessary the future. It can be past, present, and future, or an answer to the Gods for a question asked. All my Fortunes are random created by dice rolling and a system based off of Norse Runes Divination. Tarot cards reading a bit more complicated to do for RP, thought I'm going to be RPing he using cards not runes. Eventually he be selling charms (goldsmithing) as soon as I can get enough and high enough it be worth it to sell. ---------------------------------------------------------------- The light brown haired lalafell sat down shifting his weight so he comfortable then laid a mat down before him. Once he settled the mat so it was in easy reach. Then he pulled out a deck of Divining Cards and set them down on the mat. Taking a deep breath he called out "Fortune Telling! Get your Fortune told! Ask the Gods about your fate!"

I did it, I did it, got into Balmung! So going with the Fortune telling latafell name is Gigiwai Momowai.

[OPEN] Kali Kalrath, Lalafell on the Path
SilverWolfIMHP replied to Steel Wolf's topic in Town Square (IC)
The silver haired Miqo'te ear wiggled as he turned to the Lalafell that addressed him. Sighing it was the price one pays to come to a populated area. "That be a hard question to answer. You see I just arrived here myself, even a skilled Miqo'te needs to buy supplies from time to time. So for me at least this trip it will be the trade." He shifted his back pack adjusting its weight. He was slightly smaller then the norm of his kind. He was also proud of his heritage for he was still dressing in the Miqo'te style outfit when he ventured into towns. "Menphina has written the history of the world past, present, and future into the stars. One just needs to know how to read them to see what makes one who they are." Eyeing the Linkpearl he nodded understanding the idea just why bother with doing such a thing. Well guess some people can't entertain themselves. -
I roleplayed a Bartender at the Pocket D on Virtue a few times. Either as a Android or as a man that been burnt scars and all. The Bio Costume set with some very creative color choices worked well for someone who took an acid bath. I tried a wide selections of despicable folks. From my Mentally insane Pixie, a rapist (was requested rp for a friend temp character), to a wannabe Skull trying to prove himself worthy and over doing it. Steel I second the motion my Pixie Jem the Pixie would have welcomed hanging out with your demoness. Jem had a Bondage inspired outfit pure goth pixie power!

Greetings. I'm new to FF14 as well. Played WOW have a level 90 Troll shaman and a level 90 Orc Hunter. Rping Villains both fun and a challenge. I wouldn't say it's because people loose when they try a bad guy. For me it's that it's a struggle to get into that mindset and stay there. Harder to flush out a Villain character with out making him to sympathetic. Right now I haven't started RPing in FF14 Arr yet. Trying to get into Belmung... got a fortune teller idea I'm working on. Just decided to change the character's race from a Miqo'te to a Lalafell. The main reason is I can see a Lalafell being an Astrologian and using the divining deck for fortune telling more then a Miqo'te. That upcoming Job opened up a different option then what I was starting on. Anyway hope to get on Belmung soon and RP!

Curses I had to work! Hopefully I can sneak in at a later time.

I'm still trying to get onto Belmung myself. I noticed a few good guides for beginer Rpers on these forums. Two simple rules. Rp your own character not someone's else. As in don't post what happens let them decide. Example *Draws a fist and punches Hillbilly in the nose* is bad form. I posted that you get hit. Good form would be *Throws a punch for Hillbilly's nose hoping to punch the smug look of his face.* The second form leaves you to choose if you get hit or not. Second YOU CAN GET HIT! avoid being a God mode as in someone who so skilled they can't be harmed or laugh at the attempt at being harmed. That and those who seem to be able to do anything well. Follow those basic tips and the rest should be fine.

Greetings Hillbilly Thought I'm a long time Rper going back a good 20 years. *Shakes cane* You Young-ins with ya fancy MMOs, Way back when we had AOL chat rooms and we liked it! Many have said much the same I would have. I make it even simpler Roleplay is superpose to be fun. If it's not fun then something is wrong. How much OOC and IC you do is a matter of taste and style. If you come up with a grand backstory, Idea, and goal that's fine, it's also fine to just let a character grow. Sometimes I don't finalize a character until I rped him/her/it for a week. Figuring out personality quarks, taste, and all the goodies that make the Character seem real. I am new to Final Fantasy 14 ARR, heck I'm new to Final Fantasy in general only game I played before was Final Fantasy Tactics. So i'm a noob as well been data mining for lore and info. Don't let something stress you out if things don't go as you planned. Like combat plans tend to go astray when engaged. Sometimes that's a good thing had some very fun RP moments that were out of the blue random chance.

I was able to get into Gilgamesh. Character name is Laza'to Zhwan. I think I might still try for Belmung perhaps during the Week at least until I join a Free Company.

Huh didn't even think of using an Astrologian thought it fits perfectly. Using the divining deck to read the fortunes for example. Also got me thinking of my character's back story. After the calamity he was left an Orphan and turned to the Moon for guidance and so became entranced with the stars. Using the stars and the heavens as guidance he became an Astrologian and using his own method uses divination to read fortunes. Just have to wait for the expansion to be released. Till then guess I work on the Disciples of Magic. Arcanist can help with the BS as well having lost his family young he would have felt alone more so being able to summon pets to aid his depression. Or anger till he finds the path could aid in Thaumaturge story. This opens more options of race now as an Astrologian could be the RP base for the fortune telling instead of cultural wise. Lol good thing I'm an Altaholic! Going to have to think about this new possibility.
-
I'm trying! So far the three big RP servers are new character locked. Would not be trying the RP Fortune telling during combat way to much of a mess. So no using powers or abilities except for that wow factor you mentioned. More along the line of what race or clan would have a fortune teller in the culture. For example the Miqo'te Keepers of the Moon clan are nocturnal by nature. So not a far fetched idea that a form of Astrology came about. For my act I could use tiles or cards with star signs. This of course if it does fit in with the Miqo'te culture lore wise. I been reading the Wiki's and surfing the web trying to find out more. And yes what I use is a dice roller so all Fortunes are RANDOM kind of loosely based off of Norse Runes Deviations Runestones.

I noticed in the Linkshells that there were RPers on the Famfrit server. So far Hydaelyn, Balmung, and Gilgamesh seemed pack full. I'm looking forward to getting involved in some Role playing till next time I wish you well.

Greetings to you all I am a long time RPer in games and forums. Primary game was City of Heroes (Shut down 2012) A few years in World of Warcraft two Level 90s. I been drifting for the last two years or so seeking a new realm to dwell in. So now I'm entering Final Fantasy 14 ARR. I'm leaning for a Miqo'te Archer, however I really enjoyed RPing a fortune teller. Had a whole act in Wow where I was a Troll witch doctor reading bones. So being able to integrate that into my character would be a plus, but not needed. Now for the major issues, I DON'T KNOW ENOUGH LORE! That and I'm a Noob to FF14 so still learning the basics of combat and crafting. I hope I can get into one of the Roleplay worlds and be invited into this RP community.
