I'm a female, used to only play female in MMOs, but RPed as men in other RP platforms. Then one day I picked up a male elf mage in WoW and I haven't really be able to go back to a female since. The lines are starting to blur a bit. My main male is definitely a man, but he has a lot of 'feminine' qualities, another male is very much a testosterone full man, but he has no concept of feminine or masculine. I really wanted him to wear a dress when I first started with him for no other reason than he thought it looked good on him, but sadly, no dresses for men. The one female I play dresses exclusively like a man. I usually refer to someone by their character gender, but more recently been giving a they/them/their pronoun. There have been a few times I outright ask what they prefer to be referred as and not once have I been berated for asking. Even been thanked a few times.

Who have you met from video games?
Frederique replied to Delilah Scythewood's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
Welp... Met a RP friend and non-RP friend from FFXI (and later WoW) who live in California. Twice. Met people at the first ever FanFest in California. We never gamed together but it was still a great weekend. Met a RP friend from FFXI who lives near Boston. Lived with three RP friends and two acquaintances I met in FFXI in Oregon. Lived with a RP friend from WoW who lives in California. Lived near a RP friend from WoW who lives outside DC. Met a RP friend (tumblr RP) who lives in Detroit. I think it's time to go overseas... -
I want in! I'll even bake smiley faced cookies (for the dark side, of course!)

And the events this group could pull together, either within the guild or with others. Stealing massive amounts of crystals, setting up a summons because these bad guys have a twisted view of the world... *grabby hands* Want!
-
I would find interest in this... As for the plot, just think of it like the bad guy's tavern in Tangled or Shrek, those were in a pretty forest with a good amount of bad guys sleuthing inside.

Hello, I've been searching for answers as I've been piecing together my Xaela, but having a hard time finding answers. If someone could assist me or direct me to information on it that would be fantastic. Sadly, I keep coming up short on my research, that and I've only just (re)started playing so my lore knowledge is lacking. My character is going to be spiritually sensitive, where he's able to converse with spirits and ghosts with ease. To which he's a bit disconnected from the world, but he's squishy cute (as "cute" as an Auri can get) and polite so it's okay if he spaces out every now and again. But, as I'm trying to come up with concrete evidence of his ability, I can't find more than a few sightings of ghosts here and there. Nothing static. Are there ghosts readily in game or is it isolated incidences? Also, I'm hoping to work him into something similar to a kitchen (cottage) witch and/or hedge witch/shaman. Aside taking up cooking and alchemy, I'm not sure how far I can stretch his day-to-day magic without breaking lore rules. I haven't seen information on witches in game other than Halloween. IC I'd rather not give him a job name. He learned through his elders, his natural abilities, and what the ghosts/spirits told him. Would it be too Mary Sue to just introduce himself as a mystic or witch or shaman instead of "Yeah, I'm a Conjurer!" because he hasn't studies by books? *flails* Sorry for babbling. This character is new and FFXIV's lore confuses me at times. Okay, most of the time. Any help would be most appreciated.

I've lived coast to coast; West is best. *nodnods* Welcome!

Ah, the good ol' days. The template you used was made by a co-worker of mine back in the day. He started a thread on his WoW server, I did on mine. Good times, good times. Lots of fun to be had! Sign up for it!

Don't worry, no one's good at this stuff. HELLO!!!!

Plausible, even if it's not another FF game as long as you present it well. And most of the time you don't even have to present the back story at all. When a friend of mine and I moved from FFXI to WoW we actually had a story where they ended up being forced through a portal that landed them into Azeroth before Azshara went crazy. The characters, having been forced to transform to the world there, blended into the Kaldorei society. No one but the two of us knew this bazaar story, and it mattered very little to the plot. I could even force that said character into FFXIV's world 'cause, well, magic! Sometimes you just love a character so much you want to play them through platforms. If someone asks, you don't have to tell the whole story, just say your character is a stranger in a strange land. It leaves some mystery, makes them want to know more. I would only reveal the odd truth after you gain trust and know each other as legit RPers. It can be a great plot twist.

Thank you for taking the time to read my introduction. I'm Euphina, it's a pleasure to meet you! --MMORPG background Played FFXI for a year. It was my very first MMO, went to the first annual VanaFest in 2006 (Moogle Rod Powah!). From there I jumped around, ended up on WoW for two years, took a two year break around Wrath. Returned just before Cata, and left a little after the pandas took over. --RP experience Started when my MMORPG career began back in FFXI. Ah, those were the good- eh... those were the learning years. I was only too lucky to be in a legitimate, hardcore RP linkshell at the time who set a good example for this young whipper snapper. Played Donella on Leviathan with the Lost Boys. I did a lot of AIM RP for awhile but didn't do any of that in game until I returned to Cataclysm in WoW. Went to Moon Guard and found out that I really love leading events and politicking. First with the Night Elf community, then with the Stormwind side of things. More than once I was one of the main leaders of events with 200+ players. I ran an army, co-founded an adventurer's guild, sat in war councils, ran three month long campaigns, was involved in the Silver Hand Council, organized RPPvP events, helped run server-wide RP plots... *sigh* Can you tell I miss it? But I can't return; there's just not enough time anymore to do what I used to do. That, and the Pandas kind of turned me off. WoW's gotten ridiculous. And now I just sound full of myself. >.> --Character ideas/info I am so conflicted on what I want to play. I've only just begun. Thus far I'm playing Sholala Shola, a Plainsfolk Lalafell. I'm having such a difficult time creating her personality. I want her to be tough, but not compensating-for-her-small-size tough, yet still lovable without gaining hugs every time a female character sees her. How does one make a middle ground character without being mediocre? How does one play a Lalafell correctly without being pegged as a stereotype? This is going to take some research... I'm also playing around with a black-haired Highlander that feels like a cross between a younger Xena and an older Korra. The kind of strong, quiet woman that fiercely protects women and children the way a man would with a dark, mysterious past that she's trying to make up for in kindness and good deeds. She'll need a "lovely item" eventually to help soften her up. Ouran reference anyone? However, I might need to restart her. Una Darkstar is just not cutting it as a name. --How did you learn about the coalition? I've actually known about the coalition for years when my old FFXI LS was looking to move into FFXIV. I was around when RPC was first built, but seeing as the launch of the game was horrible and I didn't have a computer at the time to run FFXIV I went back to WoW. --What kind of a role-player are you aiming to be? Light, medium, or heavy? Medium to heavy. I'm still learning the mechanics so I'll be medium for a little while. --Anything from real life you're comfortable with sharing? (Work, school, hobbies, etc) I can say it's thanks to MMOs that I have had the chance to travel and live coast to coast in the US. I am a born again Christian after ten long years of bitter atheism. I am happy to speak with anyone that wants to talk about Jesus Christ; either to glory in Him or if you have any questions. I look forward to RPing with you on Balmung!

Events surrounding adventuring plots is always fun. You're often given tasks as an adventurer to help the citizens out in game. Why not make up your own quests like saving a village, pushing back the enemy, or doing simple errands (room for social RP without being forced into a tavern). Don't have to use a sophisticated /roll system, and imagination is the name of the game.

It kind of depends on the company you keep, your guild, and those around you at the time of profanity. Even in character, some people get personally offended. Just watch yourself and take stride on who's listening.

I gotta say it, 'cause it just happened to me. Meeting someone online is great and all. Yes, you can find friends and lovers... but... Have a back up plan if you up and leave a life to be with someone across the country. I'm not saying don't drop the idea, but even if you think you've found your one and only, and love is blossoming and you expect to get married and have a fairy tale ending... ... be careful. Don't end up homeless because the b*stard turned into a *#$&%*& and made you leave the house with no family to turn to and no where to go. AKA don't be stupid! Like me. More wine, please~ I know, I'm kinda contradicting... ok, completely contradicting my previous posts but... I.. ARRRRGGGG! I definitely learned my lesson!
