  1. The Great Zelda Off 2013 has concluded with myself as the victor! After nearly 9 hours of playing Zelda the contest was decided! Thank you to everyone who watched and I hope that it was an enjoyable experience! And a very special thanks to Merri for being such a good sport the whole time.
  2. Personally, unless there's some crazy business going on, I don't foresee there really ever being any organized events and what not. I think that takes away from the overall concept of the 'brotherhood." I think Yssen would agree with me when I say that the primary purpose would really just be the free exchange of information and perhaps an extra hand in a less scrupulous activity. You touch on a lot of what I think the shell ought to be used for in your above post Molt, but I think taking that idea a step further it can be the free exchange on information about other PCs. Say you hear an interesting rumor about someone and you can share it with the rest of the brotherhood if you so desire. There are a great deal of very interesting applications for this concept, and I think that the biggest thing to keep in mind is that this shouldn't be a 'main shell' type of atmosphere.
  3. Just as a forward, there isn't going to be any structure at all to this post. I'm just letting the stream of consciousness take flow. So you briefly mentioned about symbols and what not that the group, I'll refer to them as the Brotherhood for now. That made me think of the Shadowmarks from Elder Scrolls V: Skyrim. Now unfortunately there would really be no way to represent this in game. Unless we had a sort of wiki of our own, or it was passed around by word of mouth on the shell. Such an organization shouldn't really have any sort of 'organized' leadership, nor should there ever be the illusion that one member holds more weight than any other. (Even if that member is constantly providing information or other resources to the rest of the Brotherhood.) To have some form of true leadership would detract from the nature of this idea and what it represents. It is, and I don't want to just echo the OP but I do feel he's got it right on a lot of levels, a society of men and women that follows the 'tenants' of Oschon. And while these aren't exactly known or strict guidelines, I think that adds to the overall feel of the society. I don't think that anyone should approach this with the thought that this sort of things is going to be their 'main shell' as it were. Rather, it should be the network that the members can fall back on and probe when in search of information or perhaps extra hands in activities that require delicate work. Personally, I don't this society will be some sort of "thieve's guild". That would give the group too much of a slant and too clearly define what it is. Rather it should always remain ephemeral. Any sort of meeting between members staged as such should be few and far between should there be any at all, and it could go so far that the members of the Brotherhood don't even know all the names to the voices that would be a part of it. One asks, "How would I get into this exclusive club?" Well you would simply have to role-play with members and if they thought that you fit the bill, then you might find yourself in possession of a shell. No member should have any more say on who gets into the shell than any other, but the members should certainly be choosy, and have every right to be. It wouldn't exactly be a secret if everyone was in it now would it? Some initial random thoughts. I'll add more later as I very much like this idea. I'll close with this, this shell isn't for everyone and it shouldn't ever be for everyone. This shell is for those who are infatuated with the concept of Oschon. A wanderer, vagrant, teacher, sneak, etc.
  4. Zesiro was just about to interrupt the absolutely charming reunion when he heard someone call out behind him. In a matter of mere moments he saw the woman practicing her barrel-rolls. Rather than let her ruin the reunion alone, he wanted in on that fun. Zesiro threw his body in the path of the boulder-woman as best he could and attempted to halt her advance. The resulting scene was a tangle of lanky limbs and loose traveling clothes. As much as he could manage, Zesiro untangled himself from Genevieve. Unfortunately for him, she was a bit sat on his tail. With a few tugs it came free. "A thousand pardons Madame. I tried to break your fall, but the cards were not laid in my favour. I trust no harm has befallen you?" Zesiro flashed the woman a smile, and offered his hand in assistance. Expecting her to grasp his hand, Zesiro took a few quick glances around the room, trying to gauge the party.
  5. Somehow Zesiro failed to notice the shock of red hair running past him on the forest path. It's likely due to the fact that he was still contemplating counting his losses, turning around, and finding a job that made more sense. No, he'd already spent money on potions and potables, he would have to see this job through to the end. He unsheathed the scimitar strapped at his hip to once again admire the fine craftsmanship of his new blade. He hadn't had it for very long, but it had served him well in cutting down a few over zealous Ixali. He sheathed the blade as he saw the steps down to the Deepcroft come into view. He'd heard a few stories concerning the old Tam-tara Deepcroft, and unfortunately none of it was good. More than a few adventuring parties had never reported back from scouting missions into the old tombs, and rumors of necromantic rituals occurring in the catacomb spread quickly on the lips of adventurers and Gridanians alike. Zesiro certainly did not want to become one of the nameless adventurers lost to the Deepcroft, but even more than that he wanted more opportunities to cull creatures of the void. Before he could even take the first few steps down towards the Deepcroft's proper entrance he saw the strange dusty-brown haired Hyur and the red-haired Miqo'te standing before a man he actually recognized. His spirits elated, he approached the group with vaguely less caution than before. "Ho there!"
  6. Zesiro continued down the sun-dappled path towards the aforementioned Deepcroft. As Captain wacky-laugh McNoodle Arms dashed passed, he tried his very best not to turn around on the spot and forget the notion of ever working with these 'people'. However the lack of weight in his purse was a bit more pressing than his want to keep away from Eorzea's more interesting adventurers. With no small effort he swallowed his pride and continued to silently plod down the road.
  7. That doesn't look like any tracing I've ever done.
  8. Self-plagiarism Self-plagiarism (also known as "recycling fraud"[50]) is the reuse of significant, identical, or nearly identical portions of one's own work without acknowledging that one is doing so or without citing the original work. Articles of this nature are often referred to as duplicate or multiple publication. In addition to the ethical issue, this can be illegal if copyright of the prior work has been transferred to another entity. Typically, self-plagiarism is only considered to be a serious ethical issue in settings where a publication is asserted to consist of new material, such as in academic publishing or educational assignments.[51] It does not apply (except in the legal sense) to public-interest texts, such as social, professional, and cultural opinions usually published in newspapers and magazines. In academic fields, self-plagiarism occurs when an author reuses portions of his own published and copyrighted work in subsequent publications, but without attributing the previous publication.[52] Identifying self-plagiarism is often difficult because limited reuse of material is both legally accepted (as fair use) and ethically accepted.[53] It is common for university researchers to rephrase and republish their own work, tailoring it for different academic journals and newspaper articles, to disseminate their work to the widest possible interested public. However, it must be borne in mind that these researchers also obey limits: If half an article is the same as a previous one, it will usually be rejected. One of the functions of the process of peer review in academic writing is to prevent this type of "recycling".
  9. For those that missed. As it seems some have.
  10. You just said it wasn't your place to say.
  11. While the party was focused on the thickly accented women, Zesiro crept through the underbrush towards the camp. Once he was sure that he was out of sight, he emerged from the shrubs and calmly headed to the aetheryte.
  12. Zesiro couldn't believe what he was seeing. He hadn't been an adventurer for very long, but he was certain that they took themselves a bit more seriously. Perhaps strange opo-opo children were commonplace among adventuring parties, after all she was pretty good at climbing trees, and hitting her own party members with rocks. Thankful that he hadn't approached them in the Caline Canopy, he maintained his hiding place among the forest underbrush. His ears shifted forward and tail gently swayed back and forth as he observed the group. Cautiously he crept closer to the group, making absolutely certain that he did not compromise his position. He would have to observe them a little bit longer before he decided to reveal himself.
  13. From his corner in the Canopy he watched the gathering of adventurers with great interest. They seemed to be a fairly capable lot, there were only a few fresh faces among them. He allowed them a few minutes head-start from him, he wouldn't have too much trouble following the group, they had only announced their destination to the entirety of the Canopy. After a few moments he placed down his gil, gathered his belongings, and headed out some ways behind the group.
  14. Well, there is already a IC show in the works over at Aetheryte Radio, and as we don't want to get into any conflicts with that team we are going to have to be entirely OOC unless we are doing a segment like the one last episode with the old cannibal man. I love the idea of taking the name directly from the game, Oschon's Torch is a fabulous idea I think. But going in that line of thought, are there any beta testers out there who have seen something in-game that they thought would make a cool name? Obviously you probably weren't thinking about it when you saw it, but if you have seen anything or see anything, please leave your thoughts here.
  15. That sounds like a neat idea, I'll have to run it by Sunny Dove as he is moving, Mason can take a looksie here. We'll defiantly consider that. (Hardly 7 lines of exception, still the same product, just on more shelves...)
  16. Well, I would certainly love to see this kind of discussion develop on the actual episode threads. J/K...... -ish We aren't really going mainstream other than the fact that we are going to be hosted by Eorzeapedia/Aetheryte Radio. They asked us to change only a few things about the formatting of the show (Music breaks have been nixed), otherwise the show is still our brainchild and ours alone. Apart from doing anything completely offensive we are allowed to do whatever we feel is right for covering the topic. So just try to think of us as the same small cool brand that you used to only be able to find in specialty shops, but now are brand is being sold in a large chain store that appears in a ton of malls! (Trying to extend the life of this mall-metaphor as long as I can) /get's back on topic. I do think that having ERP is a funny and cool idea, I just don't want anyone who RPs and who doesn't know about the RPC/RPCV to be turned off to us simply because of the name. Really, we need something snappy, something that rolls of the tongue and is easily remembered. Like the way Pet Food Alpha/Limit Break Radio are. Thanks in advance for being so understanding :approve:
  17. Haha! Thanks a lot for that :cheer:. I personally think it's a good analogy myself...
  18. Just to clarify, KEFKA is NOT the server, it was a joke. A bad one.
