Ooh, fair enough. Yeah, I have seen people running around as males tagged as "courtesans" but I noticed these are the same folk who believe being a courtesan is just a fancy term for being a sex worker. But hopefully with this thread, people will come to start doing really intriguing and unique plots with their courtesans! I or sure aim to stick true to the old ideals of what a "courtesan" was to the best of my ability, for sure.

This was a really interesting read! I learned lots of new stuff today. I noticed there was a small debate about "male courtesans" but never a definitive closure to it. Would a male be able to use the title OF "courtesan" or is that something that should be avoided? I've been considering making a "courtesan" type, but it's a male so I wanted a general feel on if it's a good idea or not. Edit: I necro'd like a dummy. I'm so good at checking dates, I swear.

I'm in the extremely small minority of "I would like pre-planned because I barely get even platonic RP as it stands so having SOMETHING that lasts more than one scene is honestly a dream come true." I mean I do tend to "prescreen" and make sure they'd work but... Idk. I feel like I don't have the luxury of being able to develop relationships because no one cares to stick with me longer than one scene, even if it's not for shippy purposes. I'll just be doing casual/story RP and then they never talk to me again even if I was polite and kind. But that's my own personal--albeit whiny--experiences/reasons. Edit: Not to say I wouldn't like a developed, unplanned thing. Hell, I would ADORE being able to go in to something blind and not expect a pairing out of it. I'm just saying I don't seem to ever have that opportunity.

Kinda sucks that villains aren't more actively "accepted" so to say. I really wanted to RP this insane antagonist type, but the overwhelming stigma around the role is suffocating. I guess if you're brave and willing to take the fact that you'll have to hang your villain shoes up quicker than the hero's shoes, it's doable. That said, I still want to be a villain type. Too many heroes, not enough IC arseholes.

Even with all of Garlemald's technical advances, the first Emporer Solus zos Galvus, recently died in his seventies. Despite being a soldier and Legatus early in life, he's probably the single most well taken care of individual in Garlemald. So probably the exact same lifespan as everyone else. Average lifespan might be higher, but the likelihood of being slaughtered in their campaign for world domination doesn't help the average. Ooh, okay. Makes sense. Thanks for clearing that up for me. Simply to add to what Sounsyy said, Galrean military may have shorter life spans than non-military (beyond war fare danger) due to their exposure to Ceruleum. The stuff runs all of their magitek, and we know it has some pretty harsh negative side-effects stemming from over exposure. Think of it like mercury poisoning. Builds up over time. Yar. Silly Garleans. Ceruleum is for dead people! ... Wait.

With all this info, I can't help but wonder about Garlean lifespans considering all the technology they seem to possess. It's slightly off topic, but I do still wanna think about it. I also apologize if I sound like a downright idiot.

Whoops! Probably should have phrased that better. I meant to ask this disregarding dangers and such. Like if someone somehow miraculously lived a peaceful life, how long could they live before they keeled over from old age? Though this is also really good info too, so thanks for that!

Not sure if this has been discussed in any length, but is there even a very loose perspective on how long Elezens typically live for? All I know is that they outlive Hyurians (which I'm assuming follows typical human lifespans) so would that put them around 100 years? Or am I totally off the marker here? I have so much lore I need to read that I'm ashamed of myself right now honestly. :dazed:
