  1. We're still recruiting! Weekly RP events, and we're looking to gear up for the arrival of Stormblood! Establish yourself now, and when the expansion hits help us chronicle the impact the Garlean Occupation has had on Gyr Abania's beast populations, and scout the wilds of Othard for bigger and cannier prey than ever!
  2. The ultimate answer is, are those aspects you as a player are interested in exploring? If they're things you want to explore in a safe, controlled environment... well, that's what RP is for. If you want your character to have intensely internalized the idea that they must wander off and sire children, then surely someone in their upbringing could've pushed that issue. To give a more helpful answer, I don't see any grounds for discrimination regarding orientation in either Seeker or Keeper lore. But then I don't have the lore book, only what's accessible online.
  3. Bump because he finally has a wiki, and I'm still looking for people to poke this guy.
  4. I went through the trouble of finding a player character teacher who had an established background as a Dragoon, and went through that RP. It was always my intent to only play a capital D Dragoon if I could manage to do that legwork--and I did. That's that. If this had been said for any other job with a thriving RP community around it, I would tell them the same--find a way around it. If people refuse to RP with you because you are continuing the RP you've been doing for months or years, it's their loss. I'll personally be operating under the "active service" theory, because thirty is an absolutely unsustainable number. It would mean Ishgard was always one really bad morning in the chow hall away from the death of the order.
  5. "It's Aliens" level theory Revamp's sole purpose is to accommodate RDM's dip into multiple roles.
  6. I don't RP much out there for exactly the reasons you've cited--there just isn't much to be found. However my character has spent a great deal of time in that area over the past year, mostly hunting (which I physrepped by hammering down on clan hunts for a while). With us being in different time zones a random encounter is unlikely, but if you'd like to arrange to run into each other, I'd be down for it. Edit because I can't read today apparently. Double edit because I CAN read and need to stop second guessing myself. X tribe in Dravania intrigues me for Reasons.
  7. An interest survey might be good both to see how many people bite and to determine if there are enough people interested in one over the other to prioritize it.
  8. Also a fair point. I kind of like the idea of an LS so that can it sit in the directory for posterity, since I suspect many more people browse through all of the LSes than read several pages back on the Making Connections forum. That way if someone wants to write and receive letters, say, a month from now, they'll know of a thing to join. And I missed the post I just responded to being stricken out, whoops You made a really good point here regardless. Perhaps we could get the thread stickied? Though if it goes artifact route LS would work.
  9. I do feel like this is probably overthinking it--people have been doing pen pal writing IRL for a long time, often to random strangers they found by whatever means. There's a sort of charm in that. However, for people who want this type of RP but feel like they need further justification for their characters, I think it could work. Perhaps it's the original basis for the list, but in function it's not what everyone is using? Keeping this sort of thing in place for people who want to seek something a little meatier than just exchanging IC letters would be both prudent and interesting. Ancient Allagan listservartifact starts the whole thing, is perhaps responsible for keeping track of who participates, but is not responsible for all communications?
  10. Though also, if it's being operated mostly outside of game, is an LS necessary? A spreadsheet for people to sign up on with their preferred contact info might work just as well. I missed a couple posts oops
  11. I've got a clanless Seeker in that they were raised entirely outside of tribal society (son of clanless Seekers). It seems it's not uncommon in the RP community.
  12. A pen pals LS sounds excellent. Maybe set up a matching system for people who are new/too nervous to pick people out? That way no one who joins and wants one (or two, or five) is left out.
  13. What were your thoughts on how running pen pals would work? Considering the in-game mail allows so few characters.... This kind of low-impact concept really intrigues me. It sounds like my speed on days when more involved RP isn't working. Aden's a little nerd, too, he'd dig pen pals. And your character sounds pretty interesting.
  14. In my experience most companies will let you try it before you buy it, so to speak. Hit them up, ask if you can stop by wherever their group hangs and see if you mesh. You may also look into an OOC LS that caters to connecting RPers, a few of which you'll find in Virella's first link. Many of them are also willing to field questions outside the game, so you can make some inquiries while you're waiting your 72 hours if you're chomping at the bit. Events are a good place to meet and interact with players, so check out Roleplay Events. It requires you to be somewhat outgoing though, so this method doesn't work for everyone. If nothing else, it's a good survey of what kinds of RP are readily available before you hit the server.
