  1. Just hit me up in game. Y'vali can also put you into the ls as can the others who are listed on the first page. You can also find Fio Arasgain as they are usually on and can invite to this one as well.
  2. Great event guys, looking forward to the next one! ((The next one where Amaare's personal issues do not catch up to him so he can bartend all night like how he wanted to *Glares at Mikh*))
  3. Welcome to the site and to the server. If you haven't received your ooc linkshell yet to network with other roleplayers please hit me up in game! I'll be on later this evening today.
  4. Matthias Silverstar is consistently on as well so you can also send him a PM as well. We have a lot of folk who can invite so at worst just do a shout in the three cities for the rp communities.
  5. There is a roleplay community on Gilgamesh as well. As mentioned just take a look at the Gilgamesh linkshell forums and find an rp FC that is appropriate for your tastes. http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/forumdisplay.php?fid=15&filtertf_srvr=Gilgamesh
  6. Many of our leaders in the channels are fc leaders not ooc channel leaders. They are there to recruit for their respective rp guilds for those in the ooc channels to join. Having them in every ooc channel gives newbies easy access to rp guild leaders. Many of our community do not use this site. As far as channel leaders well we all play at different times. Its always nice for people to have those they can ask questions.
  7. Personally I am more of a fan of Palladium's alignment system than the one for D&D. I think it allows for more flexibility and it has alignments like Abberant Evil which would rather hang out with good characters than evil ones due to their personal code.
  8. I totally totally agree with you on this. I sometimes find that good characters are also many times unwelcomed. Unfortunately I've also seen too many instances where good characters are played by not so good roleplayers who end up making it bad for everyone. Honestly though I think that more people need to give good characters a chance and not see them as a way to just "ruin" their rp. I think the actual great heroic players take a bad rap or end up having to follow the crowd to become a character that is rped with more often, which is also a shame. Though I think that good guilds are definitely needed to offset this and they need to be well thought out and well planned. I also think that unfortunately due to the fact that many roleplayers nowadays do not have pen and paper rpg experience they are not aware of or do not like consequences to their actions. So being a "good" character or leading a "good" guild means that you should set up ooc connections with enemy groups who are willing to sometimes lose, sometimes get caught and sometimes suffer consequences. On the flipside the good guys also need to lose sometimes as well. I do also think that the good guys need to band together more often both icly and oocly. Sorry but "evil' is not the natural order of things despite what many think. I find that good groups too often fall due to mismanagement and poor organization. Which is a shame honestly. They also are not as active or as "loud" as they need to be again trying to be "everyone's friend" which ends up hampering their own rp. Hence the reason for established enemies who you've struck up an ooc agreement with. You also have to let any of your members know that godmodding will not be tolerated under any circumstances. Once one of your own godmods your reputation is destroyed therefore making you not respected. Unfortunately more leeway is given to the greyer/darker more evil groups in this regard. Again sad in itself. Bottom line is that if you have an issue with a non godmodding (and we've known our fair share of these im sure) good character "doing his job" then sorry you are crossing the ic and ooc line and that is bad roleplay. Its a sad thing really that good characters are seen as bothersome or troublemakers in many mmos nowadays, but its more indicative of our society as a whole. That though is another conversation in itself.
  9. That is entirely up to you. What I suggest is looking through the linkshell forums and finding the FC or LS that would work best for you. At the end of the day its more about who you think you are going to rp with and who you want to be around. There really is no "best" server.
  10. *With the recent announcement of the ability to build airships, the Limitless Sky ic story will be definitely kicking off when this is added in game! Amaare will be keeping his promise for sure. I am also looking to make this a server wide project where every guild on the server is able to contribute something to the construction of the airship! A true show of unity!
  11. Ok women we are basically done for now. Need more guys!
  12. Fantastic everyone. We do need some Roes to join this competition please! You are more than welcomed to come and join us for the day to participate if your character is still on the server. 14. Both are currently open, just hit up any of the names in the corresponding threads. Also I advise just taking strolls around the cities. Limsa Lominsa in particular. If you see my character just roll up and speak to him, even if its just asking directions. Amaare talks to anyone.
  15. Forgive me but this thread is ridiculous. And this is coming from a long time rper from the grande ole days of EQ One who has been guilty of being a lore Nazi, against godmodding, against race modifying when its against lore (who cares about names, not me really) and crossing IC and OOC (I am not my character you dolt! lol). I'm sorry but complaining about a person who is basically narrating (which I find again a great way to add humor oocly and a way to have a person who may not understand a character's mindset do so, yeah take that IC/OOC line crossers!) is absolutely ridiculous, and to take it even to the level of rolling around in one's own excrement? Are you serious? Or experience? Well if that's the case I played an Erudite Paladin in EQ and rped before people even knew what the hell rp was *puts on Oz voice* "So Lord OZ says do as he says! -sarcasm-. (I'm serious too, I played the part of Valiant Erudite Paladin who saved damsels in distress around Qeynos. meaning I basically fought off trains that other players dragged in with them before they got to the guards. I couldn't play the game without literally roleplaying with myself as the valiant hero. True story). I mean come on people, reaaaally? Reaaaaaaally? Do we think that we are going to attract a larger audience by being annoyed by something like this? I mean I get wanting to be better but come on now.... And I really hope those who are putting up so much fuss about narrating are are the bee's knees when it comes to being a rper. I really really hope so. I find some of the replies in this thread to be *puts on Oz voice again*: Absolutely ridiculous And its bad when the guy who is sometimes pegged as stuck up is saying "let us remove the broomstick from our rear please" Rpers that are that sensitive need to go the way of the dinosaurs honestly, and this is coming from a dinosaur. I mean give me a damn break people its really not that serious, and I am a hell of a serious rper when I want to be. I should know. Sometimes I think our community complains more than even roleplaying itself. Besides am I the only one who is old enough to remember this show? My head hurts now
  16. That's a great point and a good use for those internal monologue emotes, I think. As long as it's done tastefully and carefully with no expectation of an IC response, I can see how that could add to a scene from an OOC standpoint. I do this as well for comedic purposes. It breaks up seriousness sometimes and I find its a great icebreaker for new or shy rpers as once you make them laugh you show them how to have fun with it. Any other use of it I'm really not aware of personally. Especially for those of us who are looking at their rp as acting perhaps a television show or a play though a scriptless one of course as I'm not a fan of scripted rp personally. I've always personally been interested in the entertainment part of rp which includes a non participating audience who may just be onlookers eavesdropping on a scene. You'd be surprised with the number of scene watchers there are lurking nearby. Those who end up as rpers themselves. For them these moments can be fun watching an interactive tv show. And isn't this about fun at the end of the day?
  17. Communication is key bottom line, especially while within the large community based linkpearls. You have to be able to talk to each other and at least be able to give people the benefit of the doubt and the respect of at least addressing the problem together privately before anything else. Listen I more than understand people being sensitive to things. Also take into the fact that your level of sensitivity may not be the level of sensitivity that others have, and I mean as far as things like cursing, or even small groups within a chat channel glomping each other. Honestly I don't pay mind to these things as I find them to be playful and silly, and as far as cursing well I won't tolerate that no matter what the situation. Thoughts can be expressed without having to refer to foul language. Ultimately no matter what side you are on the key in the most social of all games is communication, communication, communication. Groups of adults should be able to talk to each other first before relying on a mod like myself to settle a problem. Curse these new mmos, old men like me remember a time when you were forced to talk to each other in mmos because well you couldn't beat the game if you didn't have people to cooperate with. If there is something that you have an issue with within reason then please take the time to pull the other party aside and have a conversation with them, and then if at that point if they can not at least give you the benefit of the doubt and respect what you are saying even if they don't agree with it then make it easier for all who are not part of the issue by just simply blacklisting each other. Linkshells with like minded people are also another thing to make use of as there have been Christian, LGBT and hell even ERP guilds for years. Lets just not try to be so sensitive to the point of absurdity or resort making assumptions. At the end of the day everyone wants the same thing and by assuming you split the community. Not to mention look at it like this, many of us don't like cliques, think about whether or not you are making a clique yourself if you do decide to get away from something you don't care for, there is a lot of irony usually in such situations. Lets give our fellow gamers a bit more respect than that. Communication should always be the first form of action no matter what. My personal stance on things? Live and let live, within reason on a public channel.
  18. Alright we are starting to put things into motion for the event. One thing I will ask is can anyone help with the following supplies: Diremite Web (drop from a level 27 Mob near Fallgourd Float in the Black Shroud), Flax (level 30ish Botany gatherable), Fleece (Karakul mob drop right outside the south gate of Dragonhead in Coerthas), as well as various leathers and ingots occasionally. Please either ship them to myself or Luluni Luni, whatever you can spare or don't need or can't use!
  19. Amaare speaks with the Limsan pirate accent for sure. Personally I love the accent differences. Though Thancred doesn't sound so Brit to me as he does sound more high American (aka we've been rich since George Washington). Same goes for the twins.
  20. Character: Amaare Margolis Primary Weapon(s): Pure fists, bow and arrow, musket/guns (yes I know they aren't in yet but when they are they will be a primary weapon for him) Class-equivalent: Pugilist Style: Amaare is a hand to hand street fighter brawler he loves "scrappin" as he calls it. In real life he would be equivalent to the more dirty styled mma fighters with a very circular emphasis on his footwork literally walking around his enemy in a circle as he pummels them. Offense/Defense/Versatile: Versatile, though he prefers hitting and moving at the same time. He has a very circular fighting method which helps him it and dodge hits extremely well. Strengths: Strength and speed Weaknesses: Unpredictable. Some days he is fantastic, other days he is literally fighting half asleep because well he can be lazy at times. Summary: Growing up on a boat Amaare was forced to be versatile, he had to learn several ways of fighting due to the unpredictability the environment of a boat provides. His father was keen on him know how to adjust to any situation. taking hits like a Marauder, being able to distance fight like an archer and of course good old hand to hand being a puglist. (Amaare is -not- a monk and never would be, he is more jack of all trades, but master of none) Extra: There are many times where he will not fight at all due to just not feeling like it. Getting beat up in these situations might happen. Also he will try his best to not fight opponents who are not in their right mnds. Despite his family's pirate background he is very honorable and will try his best to not fight those who are obviously weaker than him, even if they start the fight. Amaare is more willing to fight to protect others than just for the sake of fighting. He fought for survival not for fame or the enjoyment of it. If he has to do it he loves it, but otherwise its not something he seeks out. Unless you are Garlean.
  21. Absolutely, I am definitely interested in your suggestion.
  22. Personally I think that's a waste of time. It was a guy that decided to craft. It's not up to the playerbase to decide when and where he can do it. Roleplayers need to start having some thicker skin and not letting everything bother them. Not trying to play devil's advocate or start a fight, and I know this view probably won't be so highly veiwed by Rpers. But for goodness sake if everytime something bad happens we cry like we spilt milk then the NON-RPers win. And win and win again. And keep ON winning long after the action took place. Bingo +1000 internets for this. Many of our peers are far too sensitive.
