Well, we can let the customers decide, I think my strain is very nice though.

I always pictured the Allagan empire to something like the Atlanteans (from gamerescape) Allagan Empire [ltr] Little is known of the lost Allagan Empire (sometimes referred to as the Great Allagan Empire) at this time. The most recent records of Allagan activity currently known take place around the height of the 3rd Astral Era, from which we have several coins and the remains of the Royal Allagan Sunway and Starway. Considering that eras shift in times of prosperity or pandemonium, it is possible that the Allagan Empire fell in the 4th Astral Era, giving rise to the independent City-States that exist today. Remains of the culture can still be found in Eorzea, such as the Onion Doublet Set (a suit of armor inspired by that of the onion knights of the Allagan Empire) and their worship of The Twelve, indicated by the Allagan Runestones, which many across Eorzea continue to practice. Issues such as whether or not the fall of the Empire had anything to do with the Garlean's, and at what time the Allagan Runestones were minted, remain areas of speculation.[/ltr]

Seekin a Somnus connection? As my main job has always been Alchemist I will be growing lots of Somnus as well as making my own custom brews. There is no line between right and wrong, what one man finds acceptable another man abhors. If anyone needs a Somnus connection or wants a steady supply of my custom brew, or anything else I might be able to whip up, let me know! (my starting town will be Gridania, but eventually when we can buy personal housing I will be buying a house in Ul'dah with a store front, since I first came to Ul'dah after arriving in Aldenard in 1.0. After becoming a master Alchemist in 1.0 He set up shop there and sold his potions to many adventurers and made a lot of gil, so this will be something Im looking forward too!)

Obei might be able to help you, Obei was an alchemist's apprentice many years ago under Sorren the Culler. He was very strict which gave Obei drive to be the best. Because of this Obei spent many many hours perfecting his craft and working to setup shop in Ul'dah (where he lived for most of his life). Obei eventually became a master alchemist selling his potions and enchanted items, amassing a large amount of gil in the process. I made a lot of gil in 1.0 with my alchemist at the start of the game, so I thought it might be easy to tie in that you would have borrowed from me. If you are interested in coming up with a connection let me know.

You may know Obei Kinstar... -I used to sell my potions and potables outside the Ul'dah Aetheryte. My favorite spot! I would even work through the night. -You may have worn a pair of my colored spectacles http://lodestone.finalfantasyxiv.com/rc/diary/entry?e=112280 I worked very hard at my studies to be the best Alchemist! -You may remember my charm and smile But chances are you won't remember me because Obei is an introvert.

Survey showing % of RP'ers on Gilgamesh vs. Balmung
Obei Kinstar replied to Obei Kinstar's topic in RP Discussion
you could select casual, hardcore and roleplayer, so ultimately you could have selected all 3 If you looked at the servers during beta 3, there was way more ppl on gilgamesh then anyother server so I would say its fairly accurate representation of beta phase 3, of course not how it will be at launch -
Survey showing % of RP'ers on Gilgamesh vs. Balmung

I think you might have mis-read something, I have been following info fairly close and I never seen that. Show me a link to that info and I will absolutely retract my statement -
Survey showing % of RP'ers on Gilgamesh vs. Balmung
Obei Kinstar replied to Obei Kinstar's topic in RP Discussion
1 million people registered for the beta, only a small fraction of that were accepted to participate. This def represents more then .1% of the playerbase EDIT: also you say that surveys here show opposite results, thats probably due to the fact that everyone here is biased in that we all RP, this survey would draw more of an unbiased response since it has people participating from all different play styles, servers, and regions. Where the surveys done here are biased to a couple servers and all RP'ers. -
Survey showing % of RP'ers on Gilgamesh vs. Balmung
Obei Kinstar replied to Obei Kinstar's topic in RP Discussion
Yeah the last % numbers dont add up too 100%, they add up to 240% because they pulled the info from all the different worlds but you can still see the disparity. Or just simply divide by 2.4 for an estimation of the actual %. EDIT: the % of hardcore, casual, and rp will not add up to 100 either because you could select more then 1 option in the survey also keep in mind these numbers are based on a minority of beta testers, but the numbers should still hold true for the most part I always wonder how often this thought process carries over to real life..."There are too many white people here in my home country of Sweden. I think I'll move to Uganda, where I'll stand out more." A class glut is one thing, because it potentially effects one's actual mechanical gameplay experience, with the lessened ability to get into groups with a particular role, etc. But race really shouldn't matter to anyone else but the player it seems to me (especially in FFXIV, where any racial advantages are really negligible), so my suggestion is that one goes with what makes them happy to play. As you can see, the majority of everyone else seems to be doing just that Ive always liked being different my entire life maybe I will move to Uganda  -
I just seen this on the beta forums, Ive seen similar ones like this but this one has many % and numbers broken down into a lot of categories. https://docs.google.com/spreadsheet/lv?key=0AmHLBB8rZZaKdEJCRi1oa1lUQi1KNUQ0TGNXeFU1YkE&toomany=true#gid=3 The thing that caught my eye was the percentage of role-players on the different servers. You can see on Gilgamesh 17% of the population are RP'ers On Balmung 47% are RP'ers There was a lot more people on Gilgamesh then Balmung, but at the same time a lot of Balmung players made char to rp on Gilgamesh for the beta. It seems Balmung will be quite rounded out with it's playerbase, with some hardcore, casual, and rp. Now this part here shows overall numbers for all worlds. You can see the average number of RP'ers is about 14%, that is fairly close to the % of RP'ers on Gilgamesh, which came in at 17%. So it is safe to assume there will be more then average number of RP'ers on Gilgamesh but only slightly. I'm guessing this is due to the fact that there is 1.already a core of RP'ers established on Balmung, 2. there is no official RP server so people don't know about it, 3. it is fairly new info that Gilgamesh is the unofficial non-legacy RP server, and 4. there are multiple unofficial non-legacy rp servers with the beta forums having a small following on behemoth. This final piece is very enlightening, showing the preferred race and classes from our rp crowd. Almost everyone will be a female miqote, with a few male midlanders, all other races are virtually extinct. I'm really not very happy with the races, I was thinking about switching my char to a female keeper of the moon... I am definitly not going too now. I think I will just keep my char the way he is, but again my char is a hume midlander, the 3rd most popular. (in ffxi i was taru and hated being so small) So for ffxiv I just tried to model my character similar to how I look irl, i guess, generally speaking, I look like everyone else...lol EDIT: decided to put this quote in here since it sums things up nicely

I saw this post in beta forums and thought the idea was cool, I asked him which server he was going to play on and said if balmung he might wanna post the idea here. I guess he is not playing on Balmung, it is weird to host an event when you are not on that server lol... In any case my take on it would be maybe a once a week or once every couple weeks event. Perhaps you have an item to sell but it hasnt been selling on the market boards. So you find a representive and give him the item, then when its time for the event, all the items that had been gathered to be sold could go into auction, so you may not recieve as much as you were asking on the MB, but chances are you would sell it for lower cost. Also to go along with this I thought it would be a good place for people to gather if they need an item crafted but dont know any crafters in that particular field, or if someone needed some materia made/melded,etc.

I will be on Balmung and would be more than happy to RP with anyone who wants to. Just send me a /t in game or drop me a friend request, or message/friend me on here and we could even come up with a little plot or story to play out or something. I can be extremely shy and apprehensive as well, which makes it difficult to just jump in to a conversation as you walk by, but I am trying my hardest to overcome this and be able to just have fun and enjoy myself. So please lets be friends and rp and have fun!

I think I will delve into crafting and gathering, I havent really touched those yet in beta 3. But I dont want to do too much more until phase 4 (and hopefully they wont wipe char data after phase 4) I dont wanna spoil it! I will def be up for some rp tho to pass the time without spoiling anymore contents.

Recurring Optional Bosses (and not-so-optional)
Obei Kinstar replied to Mycroft's topic in FFXIV Discussion
I wonder if as from the developer standpoint this is a tactic to add in more content quicker? I mean they will have already had the art drawn up and character models done. All they would have to do is touch them up a bit. As many have said before I want the Doom Train, I mean they got the tracks laid down now, would be awesome to have it part of a large scale 4 part fate which would culminate in fighting Doom Train. -

Here is Obei from 1.0 looking pretty badass, not sure I want to re-make him anymore...
-
Hello! Obei Kinstar here I have my 1.0 character Obei Kinstar on Balmung (originally Besaid), a few of you may know me, and I have been starting to post a comment here or there, and updated my profile today. I really want to get involved more, with RP, FC, and to make lots of friends! I have lots of free time right now that I can use to do extra things and would like to be a part of events and games and such, maybe even some RP outside of the game. I would love to make some deep lasting friendships, and some casual friendships too! So I have my 1.0 char, and I had a little back story and some stuff for him, he did a few RP things in 1.0 and met a few other char that I know will be around, but I never did THAT much RP stuff because I didn't have the time back then to get involved as much as I would have liked. #1 Will there be a lot of 1.0 char that will scrap their original stories for something new? What about race change or sex change? #2 Is it weird when ppl play the opposite sex? I've really been thinking to play a female Miqo'te, but I'm not sure about gender bending and RP. (could I even RP a female well??) ------------------------------------------------------------------------------ I'm looking to join a LS, FC, and do some RP, light, medium, or heavy. Sometimes it can be a little difficult for me to get involved and I need a push, so push me! I am friendly and mature, but know how to have fun too! So please, if you are going to be on Balmung, and are looking for people to RP with and don't mind that I will be playing with a 1.0 character please say hi!

I think I will still be walking to the dungeon entrance anyway, it just wouldn't feel right warping there well unless i done it a million time already, but i think i will be running or using a mount I don't like to teleport, you miss all the scenery and the life of the world
