What is Chronicles of Elyria? [align=center]http://i.imgur.com/gP1C4Ii.jpg[/img][/align] CoE is becoming the most dynamic and immersive MMO to date. There is no leveling in Chronicles of Elyria. It will contain a closed economy, finite resources, non-repeatable quests, and a fully destructible environment. It is the first MMORPG where your character ages as you play, and eventually.. Dies. YES! Your character will die. Permanently. http://i.imgur.com/J0EISFF.png[/img] You may be asking yourself.. "Why would I play an MMO where I can permanently die?" I'll tell you; Every character is important, no matter what role you play. In fact, there are no classes in Elyria. The skill-based system in play means you have the ability to be whoever, and whatever you want! For example, every city could use a Postman since there is no instant mail delivery system in CoE. Be careful who you trust to deliver your letters though..If being chased by dogs as you try to give old Frank his weekly letter isn't for you, that's fine! You can be whatever you want, an adventurer, musician, merchant, even King or Queen! You just have to play the Social/Political way to get up there.. And if you're clever enough and a deviant, you can also impersonate other players to frame them for crime. However.. every choice you make has an impact. This is no different in Chronicles of Elyria.But lets say you want to be a simple Jeweler, what does a Jeweler possibly contribute to a story by itself? Well, over a period of time, and influence from player-made choices, the game's storyline can actually change because of YOU! For example, an adventurer comes into your Jewelry shop, and sells you a gem he found in a dungeon. You then take that gem and craft a unique necklace no one else can make. Then shockingly the Princess walks in adoring your creation, and purchases it, never to take it off! Brilliant! But..Over the course of a few days the Princess' skin has started to go pale.. then suddenly she dies! How could that happen? Now the Kingdom can't unite the two Dynasties to bring peace! Well, because you! You crafted her a necklace from a gem that happened to be cursed! The King has you tried you as a witch, and has you executed. Fantastic!! Events like that will happen throughout Elyria. I know what you may be thinking. "That's dumb. Plus you didn't answer my question before. My character is dead, and I lost all my progress. Why would I play a game with perma-death like that?" What if I told you, you didn't really 'lose' your progress when you die? The Soul Lives On. http://i.imgur.com/JIIgPJX.jpg[/img] When you die in Chronicles of Elyria your character's Soul is sent to the Akashic Records. Once there, it can be put into a new body for another chance at life. You can have more than one Soul to choose from, too! A New Beginning. http://i.imgur.com/uQpDIWe.jpg[/img] Your soul retains everything it has learned in its past life(s). You can choose a new beginning, location, and family, or if you had a child in your past life you can opt to take over that child with your Soul, to continue furthering your lineage. So now you have a younger body to continue on refining your skills, taking you further than what your first character could achieve before. Dying is actually another mean of progression! Each have their pros, and cons. http://i.imgur.com/mZe7dL6.jpg[/img] Your choice of Family is one of the most important decisions you could ever make. It determines your nobility, your wealth, reputation, and a lot of other important features like your genetics. Your characters abilities and starting skills will also be determined by your family, race and region! http://i.imgur.com/Tmxy3SH.jpg[/img] You can also opt to customize all of those by sacrificing a family to be a Ward of the State. However, that might not be the choice for everyone. Even though you will start younger for more time, and can choose where to spend your skill points. You won't have any financial backing, no ties to a dynasty, or help when Spirit Walking (a way to get back to your body after a temporary 'death' named a 'Coup de grace') http://i.imgur.com/1EpS2HY.jpg[/img] Sometimes, there's rare genetic mutations. Albinism is one of them. There's a chance during your character's customization that you may have one of these mutations, causing you to be more unique than your average John/Jane in the game. Anything is possible if you work at it.This is not your conventional MMO where you 'Choose a Class' and get pre-determined abilities at specific levels. You define your character. You shape the world. Sometimes the hardest part of an MMO is not feeling in touch with your character, whether it be the limitations of your class choices not suiting you, or the limitations of the game itself preventing you to be that unique being that you are. In Elyria, legends tell of beings who may have special abilities. Those who possess these.. 'talents' wield within them power to change the world. But for better or worse? Some, but not many players may find themselves awakening such talents. Equipping them with what is thought to be a myth; magic. Magic is feared in Elyria, due to it being vastly unknown and unpredictable. That you may be able to indeed, become your cat through shapeshifting.Players who have awakened or discovered a darker talent however, may find themselves vulnerable.. or invulnerable. If you have a talent, it is very likely that you may find yourself in a situation that may change everything drastically, and not just for you. You may have to abandon your home, friends, and neighbors to save your life, or theirs. One such creature feasts on another player's soul, capturing it and transforming you.. into them. Another atrocity is to rip one's soul from their being, placing it into a physical item. As long as their soul remains in the mortal realm, these beings are immune to death. However they will continue to age.. until they become a walking skeleton. Against the hordes, you may also realize.. that not all things that die, stay dead. The only difference I am aware of is that the members reward artbook 'A Realm Reimagined' is the same as the artbook found in the collector's editions of FFXIV. It's roughly 80 pages, compared to the 200(+?) of the regular artbook. The artbook by itself is also a lot more expensive than the collector's edition, so theres some food for thought. I have the Heavensward one myself and although it's pretty good, the ones you can buy are definitely worth the money moreso than these.

UPDATES: Our official name is going to be RPCast, agreed on by majority vote. I hope everyone likes the small nod to the RPC. Without this coomunity we wouldn't have had the level of support that we do now, so thank you everyone. We have worked out a shedule! Recording will occur on Sundays, and we will hopefully release new episodes on a Monday. We have a structure to our shows, which will be roughly 1 hr long, depending on how long we talk for. We have a tumblr blog that will contain our updates, as well as an official thread here. We'll be posting our schedule, our content updates, and updates in general. Looking to make connection on my lovely Elezen. Her wiki needs updating so I'll put as much info here as I can think of. Full name: Noelle Iseult Cleriseaux Race: Elezen Clan: Duskwight Citizenship: Ishgardian Noelle is a former knight turned Scholar after an a mission gone wrong caused her to lose her sight. Her family is minor nobility, and a vassal house of House Haillenarte. Their symbol is a white Lily on a red background. She currently serves as the leader of her house in lieu of her missing brother. Her house is very militaristic, however in order to keep coin flowing they have a number of merchant deals and they also breed chocobos as a side venture. Noelle herself currently serves the Ishgardian military as a tactician and healer when necessary. Rarely is she on the front lines. Characters who might know her: Knights/military, Nobles, Merchants I'm open to any plot RP, include dark and mature themes (intrigue, murder, house rivalry etc.) and also happy to assist in any plots for other Nobles. As an aside is there maybe a linkshell for Ishgardian nobility? If not, I'm going to make one because I have seen quite a few posts of this nature.

As the title says I'm looking for a person to teach my character the Doman art of Ninjutsu. I have in her backstory that she began her training, but never finished it due to the Garlean takeover and her fleeing to Eorzea. Shoot me a PM, or message me in-game. It's so interesting reading these! Noelle cannot cook to save her life. She tried once, and it gave her brother food poisoning. That being said, she loves food. She has two left feet and cannot dance at all. She is sensitive about her height, especially around shorter races. She only ever likes men taller than her, but women can be any size. She fights better without a shield, and prefers using a 2h sword. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Izayoi hosts a monthly tea ceremony for herself. She is extra wary of Lalafells due to IC experiences. She is oddly sensitive about her scales. She doesn't like displaing them at all around starngers, and covers up as much as she can.

The best way can describe it would be an episodic podcast/twitch stream/ or something that would focus on one facet of the lore and how the presenters interpret that. So there might be an episode of each of the races ('cause we have sooo much lore about them~) or it might be about Aether. Then there might be different sections within the episode. So the structure would go something like... -Intro -What have the presenters been up to OOC/IC'ly? -News -Topic discussion -Intermission -Upcoming in-game events -Thank you and goodbye The best example I can think of is the LFRP podcast. But as I said, that is wow centric.

I have been listening to a WoW one for a hile, and was wondering if there was such a thing available for FFXIV? If there isn't, would anyone like to start one as a community project?

I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this, but here goes! My birthday is coming up in December and I would like to commission a couple of artists from within the FFXIV community. What I would ideally like is a bust and a character/wardrobe sheet of each of my two characters. Style doesn't really matter in the sense that I'm not going to state I want a particular style, only that the same artist does each type of commission. So one artist would do the busts, and another would do the sheets; ideally! My only real stipulation is that the artists are okay with me having them printed and framed! Thank you!

This sounds really interesting! What would the RP be like? Since both SAO and Log Horizon are pretty OOC, how will you go about creating characters and storylines? Will there be "NPC" characters like the People of the Land? Sorry for the questions, but this is pretty unique! Will be following this closely!

Putting this on hiatus. Due to some unforseen circumstances, and me not being well, I simply can't put the time into running this FC. Hopefully things will calm down in the New Year but until then I can only devote so much time to FFXIV and subsequently to RP. That beng said, I'm not toally disappearing, and I hope that I can continue to make lasting connections.
