I would like you to participate in the capacity you want to participate in... that is, whatever will be most fun for you. If that's running a clinic, then great! If its not running a clinic, then super! I'm really excited your (fc? ls?) wants to help out, and I'll be sure to add you to the original post and try to reach you in game tonight ^^ And thank you so much for your support!!

((I believe this meant to be an IC post... in which case it should probable be in the Tavern c: ))

Hello! Experienced RP but new to ARR LF friends!
Magellan replied to Convictor's topic in Welcome Desk
My first suggestion would be to look at the Linkshells page, and see if there are any Linkshells or Free Companies that strike your fancy, and try to go from there. My second suggestion is to consider rolling Balmung or Gilgamesh, as they are the two rp servers decided upon by the community, and a majority of the fc's and ls's are located on those two servers. I do think there was a small rp community on Leviathan at one point, I do not know if they are still there. Hope that helps! Welcome and good luck! -
I really don't know if this is the case in regards to your particular character, but if her sole driving motivating factor was the search for her mother, and then circumstances led to her no longer searching for her mother, than it is easy to see how she might have 'stalled out'. Characters, just like real life people, need a variety of driving forces; of dreams and ambitions, of hopes and goals... or they might be a little too one dimensional. Are they searching for love? For acceptance from others? Or do they detest others and only want to be left alone? Are they looking to be great at what they do? Or merely trying to get by with what they know. Are they ambitious, motivated, driven to excel at all costs? Do they have any racial prejudices.... any food allergies? A fondness for animals? A hatred for animals? The more questions you ask about your character, and the more they reply to, the more fleshed out and rounded they will feel. Instead of having just one story line, such as searching for a long lost relative, they will have several to keep their story going long after they've achieved some of their primary goals. The search for love, for fame, for peace... a dedication to one of the gods or goddesses perhaps... keep asking your character new questions every day, and see how they respond to you. You may find, if you are like me, that there are some characters that SEEM to have a really great concept, but the moment you rp them they fall flat on their face. Something about them just feels 'off'. I've thrown away quite a number of my own characters after just one rp session with them Some characters take a lot of coaxing to 'speak' to you... some never will speak to you... some won't stop talking the moment they open their mouths (the best kind, imo) whatever the case, remember that rp should be fun, and inspiring to the imagination, so don't be afraid to take chances with bold, new character types to try and get to where you want to be! Good luck!

Hi Luke. Regardless of what FC you end up in, I encourage you to attend events and just watch. Its a great way to just pick up the basics. If someone approaches you icly don't freak out - rp is for fun, its not a contest. You don't get graded or awarded for your performance. Simple things such as sending someone a tell, or typing in /say ((hey I'm brand new to this, so please bear with me)) will get you a lot of help. Especially with a community as friendl as this one's c: I see you are on Gilgamesh, so please don't hesitate to contact Riley Moore, as I love to.help out new folks. I even have ideas for some future events specifically geared towards helping out new folks. Hope ta hear from ya!

FC United Blades, in conjunction with FC Echo Knights, OWLS LS, and Berzerk LS (and any other FC's/LS's who would like to lend a hand and participate) is pleased to present an open world event on Friday, March 28th, @ 7pm EST. Participation in the event is open to all, and the details are: IC: Recent attacks by Qiqirn raiders on the village of Highbridge have left the community there wounded and frightened, for when the next attack might arrive. The undermanned Brass Blades have put out a call for help, and United Blades member Riley Moore has endeavored to lead an answer to that call. Meeting in Black Brush Station at the designated bell, the unit will march out of the Central Thanalan, and across the Eastern Thanalan to Highbridge, where they will thwart any attacks, while trying to discern the cause of them. People of all fighting types are encouraged to attend, as well as healers to protect the troops. OOC: This is an IC event of the 3-part Highbridge FATE. It is meant to put some of us soldiery types to work, while giving the community a reason ICly to work together and take the fight out onto the field. What I would need from you all is help in getting the word out, and in keeping things neat and orderly during the 'march across the desert'. It would be really cool if some healers would like to step up and set up a clinic during the event, to heal the wounded and maybe even attend to Highbridge npcs. Please contact me if you would like to set this up. (Either PM me here, or /tell Riley Moore in game). The FATE is lvl 26, but with a big enough group, underleveled should pose no problem. Also, please treat the event as organic. That is, if we arrive at Highbridge and the FATE is already underway, then we will spring immediately into action. However, if we get to Highbridge and part 3 of the FATE is underway, or if we have to wait 20 minutes for part 1 to spring up... then we wait. I'm sure we can keep each other occupied ICly for that length of time. :0) Hope to see you all there! Update: We have a healer's clinic! Many thanks to Xerys Phen and Echo Knights for pitching in! For those with questions or looking to get involved, please contact Riley Moore, Bruden Grin, or Xerys Phen. Thanks!

Awesome weekend for rp all. Thanks to all who put in the work for this (:

I think the major problem with this, with creating villains with the purpose of working against some of the heroes guild, is that major OOC communication must be used. There have been a number of threads on this site bemoaning criminals who seem to get away with whatever they want to, and lawmen who try to arrest people at the drop of a hat. Player vs player interactions of this type are a fertile breeding ground for the type of IC drama that bleeds into OOC. Consider for instance; a robin hoodesque thief who steals from the rich and gives to the poor. If 'Hood' is only stealing from npcs, then there is no problem, because the player behind 'Hood' is in complete control of how successful he is and whether or not he gets away. If Hood tries to steal from other players, however, that decision has been removed. You cannot expect to get away lightly, or you may upset their rp sense of justice. Their desire to catch Hood in the act may be as strong as Hoods desire to get away with the deed. So... OOC communication. Use lots of it, to ensure both sides get an end result they are satisfied with. Otherwise drama will occur.

Magellan replied to CrimsonMars's topic in Chronicled Events
Hi, Claire! Where have you been? I can't seem to catch you in Bal anymore. D: I took a 3 month break and did some other things. But now I'm back in Gilgamesh form! -
Twas brillig, and the slthy toves did gyre and gimble... Er.. I mean hello! Welcome!

I like talking OOCly about RP as much as I like actual rping So please feel free to hit up Riley Moore in game anytime for an ooc chat or ic meetup! Also, there's an event tonight in ul'dah for the rp community to gather and learn more about the various fc's and ls's floating around. I think its 8pm est? Hope to see you there! (If you miss it, they are doing the same thing sat and Sunday in limsa and gridania)

Kupo! Welcome!

Hiiii Haii Hai... (gosh I miss saying that ) I do this all the time with people. The more OOC communication you utilize with someone, the more scheming and strategizing... the smoother and more dynamic a scene you can create! It DOES remove a bit of the 'unknown' that comes with random rp, but you're not scripting the scene, merely establishing guidelines all involved can agree to. Personally, I like giving our characters reasons to meet up. Throw them into an actual scene, rather than an impromptu meeting. That said, I'm all about random walkup rp too. Diversity is the spice of life and all that :0) Seeking of spice... *Claire sends Haii a spiced rum cake.* Enjoyyy!

Berserk :: Meet & Greet for Disciples of War

Sinette... is that you? O_O This is Claire Haha, I'm on Gilg now. Um... I'll totally try and come check your crazy event out cuz it totally fits my new character -
Anything you want to do is possible, BUT there are 'community friendly' characters, and non-community friendly characters. Bluntly put, this is the latter. You'd have to find a smaller group to rp with, willing to accept this sort of storyline. People might give you grief over the concept, but truly RP is meant to be a fun enhancement to the game, and only you know what your best version of fun is. But it's not a concept a lot of rpers are going to easily swallow. So, so long as you are aware of the consequences, do what you like. However, there is an alternative; instead of porting that exact same character over, bring the basic personality of what makes him him over, tailor his backstory to more accurately fit the FFXIV world, and do an Eorzean version of him. I actually do that all the time, and it works fine. They are heavily inspired by characters I played in previous games, but were born and raised right here in good ol Eorzea.

*rodent parts must be self-supplied Hello! We're the OWLS! Who? The OWLS! Who? ... Wh- OWLS (Open World Link Shell) is a group dedicated to bringing open world, new rper friendly, community oriented RP to the Gilgamesh server! Through a wide variety of events, we hope to make Eorzea a living, breathing world. Expand your RP universe, with ongoing events, such as; 'Adventure Time' with Riley Moore! - in an effort to better herself and grow stronger, Riley Moore has dedicated her downtime to founding a loosely coined 'Adventurer's club' (right now it's just her and a baby chocobo chick named 'Cat') in which she'll lead expeditions into the wilderness such as; -hiking trips, camping trips, IC leves and FATEs, physical fitness training, strip poker nice, family-friendly game of cards with no cussing, fighting, or drinking... Other events may include such delectable delights, like; Theater Club - Using the Mih Khetto Theater in Gridania, the theater club will assemble thespians, playwrights, and songstresses for improv skits, ballads, and general mayhem on the stage! Mayhaps one day they'll even get their 'act' together long enough to put on a musical play! Other events may include such ticklish fancies such as staffing the Quicksand for an evening, Crafter's Marketplaces, or the old crowd favorite; Guess a Fem Roe's weight than see how fast you can make it to the nearest airship! Though this Linkshell is invitation only, my Periwinkle trollops, I urge upon you all abandonment of despair! For to join is merely as simple as deciding which of the two functions of the linkshell you wish to serve! Are you a Leader Owl - one who likes to lead events and put on a grand show for the bemusement of others? Than by all means, simply PM me your idea for events, and I shall see to it that you are the proud, regal owner of a glistening blue linkpearl in no time! Or are you a Member Owl? One who likes to attend such events, and engage in Open World RP, but not so much lead them? Then YOU, my tender-footed owlettes, must merely attend an OWLs event, and speak to an Owl Leader afterwards (or during, depending on if you want to do it ICly or OOCly). In that vein, please keep an eye out for our first installment of Adventure Time with Riley Moore, coming soon to an events poster near you! Cheers, Owl C.U. Leiter

You should come out this weekend too! And please feel free to add Riley! I'm gonna be pushing for more community and open world rp!

Hihi! Please feel free to add Riley Moore if you ever want some rp! There is a 'FC market' going on this weekend to help people make rp contacts and learn more about the rp guilds in Gilg. Even if you already have an FC, you can make contacts and maybe learn about some LS's to join! Fridays event is in Ul'dah... I believe at 8pm EST? Welcome to the community!

I love all 3 cities, and frequent whichever one the character I am currently playing calls 'home' (which at the moment is Ul'dah). While I'll agree Limsa, and the La Noscea's have some of the games greatest RP spots, Limsa also makes me lag harder than any other place in the game. I simply can't pick one though. Love all the beginning cities

I have actually set up a skype room for a similar, but not identical purpose. HUGs (Helping Unite Gamers) is a group for those who seek a community in a much broader sense: its aimed at those with a shared love of friendship, gaming, and rp, regardless of guild, server, or game. Tired of losing friends when I switched guilds or games, this attempts to keep people in contact, while also providing possible connections for those who decide to test new waters, such as TESO or Wildstar. Cuz nothing sucks more than playing a new game alone I invite any social and friendly folks to join, but if ur thinking of something slightly different I might also be interested in joining Gyr, though I have switched to Gilgamesh c:
