The Summit of Free Companies (Location Set)
Magellan replied to Erik Mynhier's topic in Chronicled Events
As stated there will be a Speaker, a sort of ringmaster for the circus as it were. Each Rep will be allowed to speak, while they have the floor, others will remain respectful and quiet. Many people =/= chaos Not if we are respectful. Ah... so you did. Sorry for not more thoroughly reading the post. -

Would this forum not be a better organizational tool for such a venture? To put so many people into one room in game invites massive levels of chat scroll, fcs not being able to represent themselves due to time constraints, not to mention dialogue box limitations and hindered formatting to express ones thoughts and ideas. On the forum you can take time to clearly and effectively present your thoughts, make bullet points of your ideas, and easier respond to things that have already been stated. Plus the forum maintains a recorded, written log for all to see. Just my two cents. -
If only SMN could've been this ...;__;

Connections! Healer, Doman and a Maid?!
Magellan replied to FloriaRaine's topic in Chronicled Connections
Of course! though i might not be back right away at 6pm, though if anything i should only be back home half an hour late, i'll most likely return from my errands before 6pm but i always like to over estimate how much time i'll need. Take your time! In fact, let's push it closer to 7 to allow more time for noms. -

Sounds great! I belong to a crafting themed FC too, so maybe we can get some trade based rps underway! -
Hrm, I'm pretty sure I can squeeze you in here.... Hey you! Yes, you! Have you ever found yourself incredibly short staffed at your FC/LS/Private backyard BBQ shindig event? Have you ever been wandering the back roads of Gridania, singing; 'Oh woe is me, I'm so ronerrrryyyy!!!!!' Then you need to contact Claire Fialo ASAP! Claire is a professional events coordinator seeking to assist and establish connections throughout Eorzea, to promote and advertise YOUR event, doing much of the (IC only) dirty work for you! Do you need guards to keep the peace at your pumpkin pie throwing contest? Claire will get those for you! Do you need healers on hand in case the wacky shenanigans of your 'hold my ale and watch this' hare-brained scheme leads to broken limbs and an angry mob? Claire can get those for you! All you need to do is setup a time to lay out your idea to her, and then watch her go and try and get everything whipped up into a shining, pristine gala! ** **Results may vary On a more personal note, do you find yourself poking a stick in the dirt because you haven't anything better to do with your time? You do? Well what in the seven hells did that dirt ever do to you? Get a grip, jeez! Put that stick down and ring up Claire Fialo today! As an Appointment Setter, she can try to hook you up with friends, dates, adventurer parties, or romantic rendevouz' with that little chocobo you've been eyeing down the street. Claire doesn't judge.... much... >_> She'll record your information in her book, and if a similar party expresses similar interests to her, she'll wind you up, and set you off into the Eorzean wilderness with a pat on the back and a 'good luck, you're gonna need it out there!' smile. So what are you waiting for!!??? Send /tell today! What is this, I don't even...: ICly, Claire is there at your disposal to try and help you run events, and or help set up connections for your character. However, I have the right to refuse, OOCly, any appointments based on time considerations, poor treatment on the other player's side, drama, or otherwise negative interaction. ICly, Claire has the right to refuse if she is swamped, overbooked, or does not believe in your cause (she would not support a Lalafell tossing competition, for example.) So how do I contact you?: PM me here, send tell in game, or respond to this thread. Let's get some social engagements underway! So.... is this a dating service too?: Not exactly. If you approach Claire looking for paramour, then she will do her best to accommodate (and perhaps put the 'date' in accommodate .. you're welcome, feel free to use that one, free of charge) but that is not the main duties of her job. Though of course, every effort will be made to make her clientele happy. Does it cost money?: ICly, yes. OOCly, no. Any restrictions?: These are meant to be social engagements only. Please do not try to include Claire in your evil plans of kidnapping all the Miqo's so you can set up a Shroud based sweat shop in which us poor cat people are forced to make, for 16 hours a day, new pairs of socks for your free company, because their feet are cold. If you are looking for heavier, story based rp, then this is not the place. Though certainly, with some OOC pre-planning, I may be open to that as well (the heavier rp stuff, not the Miqo sweat shop). That's all! Thanks for stopping by, and hope to hear from some of you!

Due to the specific nature of your concept, might I recommend starting as a LS and seeing if enough interest grows out of that to become an FC? Medical clinics are always a fun aspect of rp, and I would enjoy getting involved in such a LS , should you decide to create one.

What scares you away from a FC/Guild?
Magellan replied to Branson Thorne's topic in Off-Topic Discussion
@Telluride: I don't agree with everything you said, but I love your passions on it #2 is a huge deal for me, and I completely agree! If you can't say hello to people when they log in, why are you there? Why invite people into your guild if you don't ever intend on talking to them? Obviously you won't be able to catch every single person who logs on, but making others feel welcome and valued should be the most basic of concepts on who you share your guild space with. If I find myself in a guild that doesn't greet each other, or worse, only greets the popular people, I'm looking for the door. #3 - I hate when officers assume the mentality of 'the guild should serve me' as opposed to vice versa. If you agree to an officer role, like it or not you are assuming the responsibility to provide the lifeblood of the guild. no other way to put it. If you don't have the time to assume such a massive undertaking, don't become an officer! No one will fault you for that. Officers who take the time to assist the guildmemers in whatever they need will propigate a culture in which others want to assist and help. Officers are the number one deterent to cliques that can absolutely kill a guild. -
On Balmung its a lot of tavern. That's not to say you won't find it out in the world, but.... welll... open rp has to be nurtured, watered.... initiated by folks, and not just talked about. I do a bulk of my rp out and about and at events, but whatever people are comfortable with is fine by me. Still, despite a heavily tavern bent, i'd say rp is still very healthy and well on Balmung. As for Gilgamesh, most od them have migrated here:http://www.gilgamesh-rp.com and they can probably answer your question better than I. Hope this helps! And welcome back!

I'll have to second.... third....fourth? The voice chat thing. I simply do not like it in my games. I like a chatty FC chat, and voice chat kinda kills that. -

FCs/Guilds that don't allow alts. Like seriously...? FCs that require your alts to be part of the story to be in the FC: not every character is gonna fit the theme, sorry, but i'd still like to hang out oocly with the friends and in game family I've made. And FCs that don't run intro rp and just expect you to 'jump in'? Ewwwwww. -
I would suggest looking into making somem Gilgamesh connections over here:http://www.gilgamesh-rp.com, as that is where a majority of the Gilgamesh kids seem to hang out these days.

I am humble creator of said LS, and would be thrilled to rp with you. I have heard good things!

Flynt Reddard because he seems to be the sort of larger than life character type I get a kick out of. Plus, I recently saw the Kingsman, and he looks like he could belong to them.

I don't think he meant class so much as; are they a bandit? Mercenary? Hero? Tortured ebil murderereer? Soldier?

What If Your Character's Backstory Didn't Happen?
Magellan replied to Sounsyy's topic in Character Workshop
Claire was abandoned as a child in the church outside of Drybone. (I actually have never figured out why). In the end, she was adopted by a hyur woman, a baker, which helped form Claire into a very energetic, passionate, artisanal woman, with zero interest in fighting. If, on the other hand, her tribe had not ditched her, and she had grown up a traditional Seeker, I think she would've had the same level of energy and enthusiasm, but been much more a swashbuckling type. Maybe a bandit, or a robin hood-esque figure; a winsome outlaw who fought hard for the little people. Fun to think about. -
((Does your character sing? Write music? Do both? I thought it'd be neat to create an IC compilation of the music around Eorzea. The tunes others might hum or whistle while they work. Or that bards might add to their repertoire.)) Claire is a little..... strange. She was in the middle of signing up for a manufacturing company, when she witnessed a business deal in the flesh. Not only was she having a 'notice me senpai' moment over the company woman overseeing the transaction, but she then began narrating the negotiations, like a play by play commentary. At one point, one of the customers looked over to her, and muttered; "Is that woman narrating our transaction? Do they actually hire narrators to stand around and talk about what is happening?" I was laughing so hard oocly, and its just one of those great moments in rp where the characters take over completely, and you the player just sit back and watch.
