  1. Since I returned to FFXIV a month ago, my character Claire has; -Helped connect her FC with another FC to form a partnership. -Met with various different worker types to try and plan an upcoming fashion show for the community -Met with 5 or 6 new or shy rpers from the Making Connections thread. Reached out to several others, but never heard back or connected on schedules. - Tried to get to lvl 50 for the first time in 2 years ^.^; (lvl 47! whoo!) - Tried to launch an LS, that I unfortunately did not have the time or proper planning for. Oh well I've been very active, and the RPC has been an invaluable resource for setting some of this up. In a very real way, I've been too active, as I haven't had the time to follow up on some of those rps I've had (here's looking at you Aya & Floria). But Claire has been trying to establish intra-FC ties, as well as interpersonal ties, because that's her IC job. It's fun, rewarding, and I encourage people to hit me up and see if I'm available to help. I really don't understand the vibe I sometimes get from these forums that the community doesn't gel enough, maybe because I'm out and about so often, meeting new people all the time. If one really had an interest in doing it... do it! (So zen, I know...) If you don't have an interest, or are unable to commit, due to running an FC, real life, etc. etc... then that's totally okay and you shouldn't feel bad about it. One only has so much time and energy to expend. Remember... rp is supposed to be fun, not feel like a job! Anywho, a monthly 'welcoming committee' type rp would be pretty neat idea, and Claire would hurtle herself at it with the speed of a racing chocobo on crack laced gysahl greens.
  2. Please click my signature and feel free to contact Claire. She exists for situations just like this <3
  3. What an excellent idea! Character Name: Claire Fialo Character Type: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=10583 Cheerful, upbeat, wants to be your friend! Availability: M-F 5-11pm EST. Thursdays I'm sometimes unavailable. Frequent Locations: Gridania, the Goblet. Though she loves Limsa and would be happy to spend more time there.
  4. I would encourage people to seek Sorora out. She's a lovely rper and character
  5. *Claire whips out her big book of making connections* Friends? Work? Social connections? Claire Fialo is on the case! (Seriously, click on my sig and contact her!)
  6. Thank you! I'll keep an eye out and try to reach out to you in game. My main is Claire Fialo. It'd be easier to get in touch with me there
  7. In Tera, I used to run rp classes for beginners. About a year ago, Claire ran a weekly event called Drama Club that was similar in design, only IC. Id be happy to run practice sessions with you anytime!
  8. To be honest Rila, I'm surprised you're new. You've always come off as a natural, accomplished rper to me with what few scenes we've had together. Any Rila comes across to me as a vibrant, rather charismatic woman, not a caricature in the slightest. I've only been at this 4 years, which makes me relatively new compared to some folks. I still come up with characters that I feel are completely flat, and I quietly shelve them away. I still have scenes with established characters, in which I feel I am not really tapping into my characters head, and that I am boring the other person(s) to tears. I get frustrated. I cut scenes short. I take a break from rp for a day or two and recollect my creative drive. What it boils down to for me is two things: 1 - I really want to entertain other people. That is the main drive of rp for me. If others appear to be entertained, then I am entertained, and everyones having a good time. 2 - I am my own worst critic. This comes from wanting to be a writer. If I feel the scene I am in is flat, 90% of the time I blame myself, and feel I'm not doing enough to create a dynamic spark. Or worse, that I'm boring the person(s) I'm with ^.^; (that is my number one rp fear: that I'll be boring) With time and practice, I have overcome many of the things that trip me up with rp. I still have days and sessions where I feel like I'm just not contributing anything to the scene, but those are fewer and farer between (I don't know if farer is a word, but dagnabit, I'm gonna use it!) Just try to take a deep breath and let yourself ease into it, and expose yourself to your doubts, while simultaneously working to overcome them. And ljsten to your peers! They are very helpful! Wouldn't qualify myself as a 'peer', but even so, I think you have a terrific character and a great writing voice!
  9. Claire would probably be a cross between Chiyo, Tomo, and Osaka from Azumanga Daioh. She has the cutesy of chiyo, the boundless energy of Tomo, and the cluelessness of Osaka.
  10. I have found (btw haii Tier! )that certain characters of mine have the same problem, that it just doesn't make sense for them to actively engage in certain types of rp because it doesn't fit their character. That is why I love Claire. She is outgoing as they come. I actually steered her towards becoming something of a personal appointment setter (see sig) so that she could help characters (including some of my own) that struggle to 'join the party' so to speak, find like minded individuals ti hang out with. After all, everyone needs friends! Even grumpy faced maleqo's! Feel free to schedule an appointmentt t with Claire if you like, and she'll do her best to set Tiergan up. Though I imagine it'd be a lot of Tiergan staring at her, and Claire going: 'Sooooooo do you have any, uh, normal hobbies? Ones that don't involve kicking peoples faces?'
  11. EDITED FOR GENERAL UNHELPFULNESS ON MY PART: I wish the summit and its participants an eventful, enjoyable evening, and lots of luck on creating memorable, communal rp. After all, that is what we are all here for If my views indicated otherwise than I apologize for my poor wording.
  12. I am one of those people who would be extremely hesitant to let anything bad happen to my character... in the hands of others. Why? Well maybe I'm a control freak. If I wanted to play a psychologically damaged person because of rape/torture/insert reason here, because I thought it would be interesting or fun to explore, then I would have rolled them that way, or contacted a villain character from the outset to plan a storyline. If, however, I rolled an everyday person trying to overcome their past of slavery (just as an example) then I npc everything, and put it into their backstory. That way I can control what happened, how bad it was, and how it helped shape them into the person they are today. I am not interested in exploring themes of heavy, current, psychological trauma on this character, and in fact, to do so, would ruin my enjoyment of playing the character. And thats a tricky thing in MMOs. I've had characters become broken, become uninteresting to play.... and just lose all their IC enjoyment due to interactions with others. Yet you've already put ALL this time into them OOCly... so now what? It can lead to frustration and burnout. Typically, I don't get involved in villainous plots because it feels one of the two sides is going to leave feeling frustrated, and i'd not like to feel responsible for breaking someones character, just as I hope they wouldn't try to ruin the enjoyment I derive from playing mine. Tl;dr: sometimes its just better to npc your characters antagonist (whether that antagonist be hero or villain) as a means of achieving your chracters goals, as pc vs pc clashes can create the bad kind of drama.
  13. My character Sola Rose works for the Brass Blades, and so could likely bump into him around town. Cheers, and welcome to the rpc!
  14. You have denied that this summit is in any way a governing force for rp on Balmung, and yet the wording of your post, (story planning, settling issues) seems to suggest otherwise. You also note that you wish rp to not only be done and planned by FCs, and yet have restricted this meeting to FC representatives only. I do not mean to insinuate that this venture is done with anything other than the highest ideals in mind. On the contrary, I applaud your enthusiasm and initiative on this matter. I have been part of communities where certain guilds and leaders assume a sort of 'RP gatekeeper' role, in which all important rp decisions affecting the server are put through them. Some even tried to elect themselves a sort of rp politician. I merely post this to humbly request this summit not stray into such territory, as it demeans the enjoyment and effort many of us put into creating and participating in open rp on a regular basis. I rarely have problems finding rp when I want it, and much of it is done outside of FC wards. Sometimes its just a matter of going out there and doing, not talking about the perceived problem (which I would debate exists) but simply walking outside your ward.... and rping. Be amazed at how many people you can pick up if you start looking for them.
  15. Claire has lots of merchant contacts, along with contacts with an Academy where Rhea could train. She would love to meet up with Rhea and try to help her find new connections!
  16. ((Though Claire is probably far too busy these days to take on ANOTHER job, things of this nature are of great interest to her, especially in the Gridania area where she has been spending a lot of time recently. If possible, she'd love to meet with one of you all ICly, as it is her job to help setup connections with people, and she knows some people looking for work. She could possobly divert potential employees in your direction. Let me know if this interests you! Thanks))
  17. Hey neat. My character Sola Rose would probably be down for this. I'll try to get in touch!
  18. @T'caska: d'awwww ypur characters a lot of fun too! Here's to new friendships!:bomb: Wait.... that wasn't what was supposed to come out.... *flees from the bomb*
  19. Please fell free to contact Claire (see my sig) she talks enough for 6 people and is extremely good with shy people!
  20. I love quote/unquote 'hilarious' situations in rp. Hopefuly our characters can meet!
