  1. That's what you get for sleeping on the job! > So you're the one who licked the evidence off the walls!!!
  2. *Pm's* Though I'm relatively new too, I've really dived into it headlong, and really like to both share what I have learned, and look for answers to what I haven't with other people. It's a lot less intimidating when others are standing beside you asking the same questions you have!
  3. Yeah...still waiting to be avenged over here. Sorry, a band of feral cats came and lapped up your pasta-sauce message, and i've been struggling to put together the clues ever since >_>
  4. Thanks again to this cool-ass community that about answers it for me ^^ I in no way meant to imply trying to enforce laws myself, that would be problematic and well outside my realm of judgement; I was just curious if there were unspoken guidelines amongst rpers about these things if; say, Aldeus decided to kill Rike (again). The idea of different cities having different laws or stricter enforcement of them is pretty cool (when in Rome...) and definitely one I could get down with.
  5. An event in which mentors and mentees meet, intermingle some, joke, laugh, cry, etc., would allow ppl a chance to get to know each other, and make informed decisions on who they think they will work well with. Just my two cents
  6. I'm just wondering, what's the general take on laws within an RP world? Like, I come from a game in which brawls, assassination attempts, kidnappings, even public murders! Occured frequently, with nary a consequence in sight. Should things like policing forces and jailtime be expected? Or would this stifle creativity? Is this decided on a LS by LS basis? Or does one typically follow the law guidelines (or lack thereof) that the game sets forth? Thanks! Sorry I adk so many questions... ._.
  7. Omg I hear the voices of the dead! Don't worry ghost- cat, I shall not rest until ur killer is found and forced to watch every single cat video on the internet (including the 10 hour version of Nyan cat)
  8. *Somewhere miles away, in a room crowded with white coats and blinking tech.* "Shit he's on to us! Code red! Code red! Someone hit Ctrl-alt-delete damn it! No not backspace - that doesn't do anything! No stop! Error -error - error..." Congratulations. You just killed the internet. Wait... if you are the internet, and the internet is now dead.... *holds funeral for Rike*
  9. I approve of this thread I used to run noob friendly rp classes and improvs in my old game just to create that 'safe zone' you mentioned, and to encourage people to get into the glorious world of tp. This community seems to have a similar thing going; check out the RPC mentorship program thread to read up on it. But I very much second rike's sentiment! I very much enjoy helping new ppl either plan out, test out their chars, or just plain ol talk about rp, so I'd be happy to chat ppl up OOC or IC anytime!
  10. Kupo!!! *looks on with adoring eyes* Kupo!! *tightly clutches autograph book* K.... ku... po? (Maybe he'll notice me, maybe he'll notice me, may-) *scrunches eyes tight*
  11. Welcome! Happy to hear you have (seemingly) recovered and look forward to gaming with you!
  12. This is exciting ^^ my neutral/lawful good chars usually have such a hard time finding homes.
  13. I may have a char interested in this
  14. You can help me! ^^ I am already to be working with Mtote, but the more people helping the faster I can get up to speed ...and since I think I'm going to be maining a Mi'qote, you can dispense all your feline wisdom on me! Like... how does one keep their tail from getting shut in doors? When people in Eorzea ask 'what's the matter, cat got your tongue?' shall I, as a Mi'qote, be offended?? I have so many purrfect questions!!
  15. I rolled an anti-hero that was very standoffish, except when she drank (which was often) she would become very sociable and overtly friendly... ... problem was she was legitimately an alcoholic and it was slowly killing her.. twas a lot of fun! thankfully a friend came along and saved her
  16. I'd certainly be up for trying to hit the ground running with some friends to quest with, as the grind can be so boring otherwise ^^ Though typically I am only able to play at nights Like the art, welcome!
  17. Hello n welcome! ^^ I like to roll heroes too, which at times can be hard to come by, so hopefully we can meet up
  18. Thanks for the support all @Freelance & Aysun: Though regrettable, I do not see a viable solution to this problem. It is as such in other games too; the lore is provided, and summarily ignored. Part of this is an ignorance of lore; huge, dense walls of text on websites certainly isn't my favorite way to learn; so I understand when others do not do the necessary research. As an example; people's wiki page bios? Can't read them. There is so much to absorb for someone my character may never end up interacting with. Yet I could read a hundred of those 'my bio in pictures' threads that people do. It's a quick, easy way to get caught up with the gist of who someone is as a character. If only more lore threads were provided accordingly; instead of spelling out everything to the last minute detail, give a broader overview; illustrated, easier to follow, so that beginners at least have something to work with. A more hands-on approach is always easier for my preferred method of learning. Compounding this is the fact that in these games, many NPC's seem to completely ignore lore . Just proof that these games aren't built specifically with rp'ers in mind. But yea.... would be cool to see some LS's designated to cultivating a cultural Mi'qote storyline.
  19. On my first chars, I tend to like to use the following tactic: take a race (in this case a Mi'qote) and have them grow up in the most popolus race's culture (in this case Hyur) Why? Well, two reasons; #1 Freedom to learn at my own pace. By having my Mi'qote belong to the more generic, easier to comprehend Hyur, I can explore the lore of FFXIV within the interactive world of the actual game, rather than reading a ton of stuff on the computer screen (which honestly is not my best way to learn) So why not just make a Hyur? Well... #2 I really enjoy exploring the theme of the 'outsider'. Those who are biologically one race, but identify as another. Having an identity crisis, in which they feel caught between two worlds provides a lot of emotional material for my char to work with. But is this a cheap ploy? In essence my Mi'qote would know next to nothing about their actual culture, having to learn it from an outsider's perspective. Is this kind of thing frowned upon?
  20. I was actually playing around with a similar idea. Some questions; 1. Does housing these energies have a detrimental effect on his psyche and/or physical form? 2. Does he have mastery over these powers or do they have mastery over him? It is easy to do possession/possessor chars poorly, imo, but they can also be done very well! I see no reason to not try!
  21. *waves* This is a very honest and heartfelt introduction. Welcome! I share your frustration of limited game time. When the kids are rping til the wee hours (3 or 4) and I had to bow out at midnight so I'm not a complete zombie at work the next day, I'm all like... durn. Sometimes I get very crotchety and let fly a 'double durn!' Even with limited playtime, I've managed to make friendships in other games tho, and the crowd here seems very nice. I can't wait to meet them! Kupo!!
