  1. They cleaned up a lot of the issues I had with FO3 and NV. Combat feels good, and there's actual enemy variety now. Yao Gaui aren't just bigger, reskinned molerats anymore and Deathclaws aren't just slightly altered Ghouls. Everything attacks you differently instead of just bee-lining at you. The animation work is really great; human enemies and companions will use cover as if there were a cover system. Ferals will literally dive at you and crash into the ground in a roll, and Deathclaws zigzag or toss things. The AI still isn't perfect, but its leagues better. The crafting is just amazing without being tedious or intimidating. The new Special system is... very different, but not strictly bad, and a lot less frustrating. Its much easier to plan than before if you're into that sort of thing. Thanks to level restrictions, the game will stay balanced longer, at least until you get to 40-50 and you start capping Perks and Stats. Overall, I'm impressed. This feels like a much better leap than ES4 to Skyrim was.
  2. https://www.reddit.com/r/fo4/comments/3s0ztf/step_by_step_vpn_tutorial_how_to_unlock_fallout_4/ Here's a method to unlock FO4 early if you're a steam user via VPN. OH, and own risk and all that good stuff. But I've done this for several games in the past and I've never gotten so much as a slap on the wrist.
  3. Say hi to my character Giauque Lordes whenever he's around. He's very scowly, but I swear he's a pretty nice guy! @Ozma: Mine isn't much like that. He's Ishgardian born and raised until recently, so he simply doesn't have much experience with Lalafell, Au ra, Roegadyn, or Miqo'te. I wouldn't say he thinks himself better
  4. I feel like the female Elezens are rarer than the guys. Of course, this might just be because I play a male Elezen.
  5. There's not many lore resources available, and the game can be a bit stingy with miss-able text and/or changing dialog, so this site is great in that I can search up a topic and have it explained already. The IC sections are just superb. Really, you guys are fortunate to have some talented writers in this game. I could honestly read Town Square entries for hours. Bravo on that. Last but not least, this site seems like a pretty positive place. Not that criticism is a bad thing, but its easy to get caught up in the negative, and its great how that isn't the case here. Its about the role play first and foremost, just like it should be.
  6. Make sure you Steam users pre-load!
  7. Ha, I've got a few of these. When I first joined, I spent more time than I care to admit just reading wiki and the IC forum. For me personally, the hardest part of the approach is the IC rationale. I'm not shy, but I'm also never going to pull off a cold approach with my main, his character doesn't really allow for it to occur in a convincing yet accurate way. So unless I get lucky and our characters naturally align in some way, it becomes very difficult to get two characters together. My rp is garbage unless I'm engaged, and that doesn't happen unless I can play Giauque true to his nature. Ironically, my second character is nearly the exact opposite. She's very easy to play, because she excels at surface interaction, and then later on, she gets difficult once interaction has any more emotional depth than a puddle.
  8. Damn, I must've just missed this. Next week for sure, though!
  9. Ah, my favorite thread on every forum. IGV9rFA-tRk
  10. I've been RP'ing here about a week, and have yet to see a single Lalafell RPer at all, much less a serious one. I'll echo Berrod in that its a case by case thing. I'm sure a serious RPer will get serious RP no matter what race they picked.
  11. I get what you're saying, but even if 10% of people are able to do it, that's still a huge number of individuals with a gross advantage and it certainly would have had world repercussions, yet somehow hasn't been touched on until now? I dunno, I guess it rubs me the wrong way. Maybe I would've preferred they ignored teleportation? Its one of the more game-y aspects of the world and really doesn't need concrete lore. But I'm just complaining at this point ;D It hasn't been touched until now because WE haven't touched it. They placed that lore-to-gameplay connection for us, the players, who are meant to represent adventurers in the world. We're the ones who chose to ignore it for the sake of roleplaying along the lines of a certain convention. I think it hasn't been scrutinized because we didn't get this convenient lore bomb until yesterday. I'm not too well versed on this game's lore, but common knowledge on teleporting and aetherytes was that it was taxing and not everyone could do it. It was vague. We didn't know how long it took to do or anything like that. Now we know return can be casted quickly enough for emergencies. Giving it some serious thought, the whole concept sounds silly. In any other setting, a tiny amount of people who are able to have such an advantage over others spells trouble and persecution every time. Marvel's mutants, mages, whatever. And here in Eorzea, where just about everyone is hilariously racist or bigoted, I find it odd that they're simply taxed upon arrival then sent on their merry way. I find it downright funny that the teleporter advantage hasn't been touched on in the MSQ, either. Also, why pay Sharlayan engineers huge amounts of gil to tax a tiny percentage of the population? Why isn't return taxed like teleport is? Who is taking my money when I teleport to Azys Lla? That's why it rubs me the wrong way. I don't care much about RP conventions, because I've been RPing here a week; I don't even have conventions yet. And even if I did, a snippet of lore doesn't change that. We all omit, reshape, and see differently lore here and there to fit our personal styles. My issue is that they're trying to explain something via lore simply because its in the game, when it doesn't need an explanation. If anything, this lore bomb hurts the overall lore quality. In my opinion, of course. It feels cheap.

  13. Eh, sounds like the devs trying to explain away an ingame mechanic just for completion's sake. The whole concept sounds completely absurd if you consider the effects of such an ability on every day life. -Going to war? lolreturn. -Need to explore the desert? Welp, we can always just go running through the desert until we drop, then teleport, then try again. -Captured? Nope. I mean, really. This actually pokes some holes into some of the MSQ. EDIT: Ninja'd >:
  14. I'm rather inexperienced with ingame RP as well, but I've RPing on forums for about 9 or 10 years. The RP itself is the easy part, I find-- you just write as best you can without stepping on anyone's toes or controlling anyone else's actions. Its all the stuff you need to do to get the RP which is the hard part. RP requires multiple people and predictably, everyone is in different timezones wanting different things. Some are just fine with fun, casual interactions. Others want to tell dramatic, sweeping stories that aren't just amusing, but riveting. Like I said, everyone's going to want different things; its all a bunch of give and take. In any case, I've rarely seen anyone who is just so bad at RP that it ever became a disruptive problem that couldn't be fixed. It never hurts to be polite and considerate both IC and OOC and if you're ever not sure whether or not something you want to try is okay or not, simply ask! For example, my character is a street thief, and she will always try to take something from people she meets. Not everyone is alright with that, so a quick /t message asking if its okay solves the problem of possibly hurting someone else's experience. Hell, I'm hoping one day someone will let her nab something important or perhaps establish some conflict with other PCs. Anyway, feel free to give me a shout ingame; character's name is Wander Atwood.
  15. I'm up for it, more like-minded characters means plot opportunities!
  16. Absolutely, a locksmith acquaintance would be a pretty valuable acquaintance for Wander! May I have your character name? I'll try to catch you online.
  17. Because massive invasions of privacy are just great RP icebreakers. About Me: -I'm over in the EST timezone and keep normal hours, so I'm hoping for those with similar playtimes preferably. -I like my RP heavy, if I'm being honest; long-term plots that really explore or test a character are just my favorite thing. Of course, I'm open to lighter RP as well-- short, amusing encounters are built into my character's skillset and personality and are thus always enjoyable. -I'm most available via PM or skype About my character: With all the boring stuff out of the way, I'm looking for contacts for my character, Wander Atwood, an 18 year old Midlander. The short version is that she's a criminal out of Ul'dah with a lifetime of pickpocketing and burglaries under her belt, and also dabbles in fraud and confidence schemes. She's conceited, childish, shameless, and whimsically impulsive. Her theft borders on kleptomania-- if you're looking to be friends, expect to be stolen from anyway. Perhaps even moreso, honestly. Other skills include lockpicking, safecracking, climbing, drinking, and talking (or running) her way out of trouble. What I'm looking for: Wander is in need of contacts of just about any kind. Friends, marks of any kind, homes to burgle, enemies to run from, rivals to screw with, bosses to work for, jobs to do, or even a mentor or partner if we really click. Conflict or cooperation is welcome, so long as there is fun RP to be had! Finally, if there are any IC Wood Wailers out there, I have a specific plot that I could use you in at some indeterminable point in the future; please PM me for more details. Thanks for checking out my little thread. Looking forward to RPing with you all!

    Yo.

Hey y'all! Greeting from Hyperion! Well, sort of. My main is still throwing himself against A3S, but I went ahead and transferred an alt over to Balmung. If you see Wander Atwood around, feel free to say hi! I had a brief bit of on and off RP here about a... year-ish ago(?) and I always wanted to make time for it. Since my raid group is breaking after Alex, figured now's the time. Anywho, I'll see you all in game, let's write some interesting shit together <3 Now, back to more Vermintide >;D
