  1. Hmm thanks for all the contributions everyone. I think I have a general idea how old Moogle lifespan is around 50~80 years old at most. It's definitely a lot shorter than what I initially predicted which was 400~1000 years.
  2. Hmm that's interesting. I didn't know she used magic to appear physically older (I'd have thought things like this would have been revealed during msq... or has it?). Though is it really necessary? Playing through the WHM quest chain I could see that despite looking like a teenager most Padjals are well respected and the Gridanians seems unquestioningly loyal to the Padjal figures. In fact I don't rememeber a time when the padjals weren't taken seriously. While we're on the subject of looking young... Despite how young Nanamo appears her people don't seem to question her authority with the exception of a few greedy subjects. I still can't see how looking young would be a problem. Master A-Towa definitely didn't seemed to have had this problem either. When you mentioned Fernehalwes... you mean this guy? I honestly don't remember if this dude says anything. As for Moogle lifespan in comparison to Dragons, I never doubted that Dragons are the longest lived race in Eorzea. Though I speculated that Moogles might be a runner up in being the 2nd longest lived race. As for your example, that's interesting to hear. I haven't done the beast tribe quests for Moogles so I'll look forward to that. Was it ever specified if that moogle passed away from old age? Unlike other races they don't seem to look any different despite ageing (eg.facial hair, noteable signs of old age). Even Moogle Kings seems to look relatively young albeit they are significantly larger than normal moogles. It's just a random speculation I had while questing through moghome, Moogles appeared to be rather lazy and very carefree about their surroundings as if they had all the time in the world to get things done at snails pace, or forget about it and come back to the problem next year. I got the impression that their behavior and mannerism was the result of living for a very long time/has a lot more years to live (compared to mortal races on Eorzea).
  3. Had this question for awhile but couldn't find an answer to it. What is the average life span of a Moogle? After playing through all the msq I'm under the belief that Moogles might be the longest lived race second only to dragons. At first I thought it might be a close tie between Padjals and Moogles but seeing as the concept of time seems to exist if we look at the elder seedseer I'm guessing the Moogles age much slower than the Padjals.
  4. I feel like everyone is getting derailed here. But let me ask the veteran community who migrated over to FFXIV as I have. What did you hope for in Warlords of Draenor? And if Blizzard did not live up to your expectations in WoD but they have redeemed themselves in Legion, would you consider playing it again?
  5. Hmm... as a rogue I can quite easily kill Priests regardless of what spec they are. Sadly this doesn't seem to be the case with Trees which has been OP since.... actually I think they've been OP for as long as I care to remember? Also wasn't there talks of turning Disc into a DPS spec? lol
  6. The Xpac has also given us the Heirloom Tab to help manage them better, Wowtoken for those who don't want to pay 15$ a month and instead pay with ingame gold, A better catch up mechanic for crafting professions (Well half implemented because professions became so null a few months into WOD but still 1-600 leveling was simplified), Twitter integration (which despite it being meh, I had fun using now and then when something happened or i get a new mount. Feels good for me at least), Timewalking (Which many hate but i rather enjoyed a lot to do) and was the first expansion to give us updated models. Of course those are just 'Updates' and not additions but i like to see the silver lining in most games that i play. But WOD still was a major disappointment. It's why i am super cautious on the beta info for Legion and what not. I still raid and currently on Mythic Gorfiend 66% so i will most likely continue to raid even in next xpac. I'm convinced it won't be long before they integrate Marriage system in WoW. In the mind of Activision they're probably thinking... Should we work on playable content? Spend millions of dollars creating enjoyable PvE/PvP content without turning them into mindless Apexis Grinds? No that takes genuine effort, instead we should spend our resources on the Marriage System.
  7. Did they ever fix the damn botting issue? PvP was just infiltrated with .01 second interrupt bots I can't remember wtf the program was called. Bots? I think you have the term mixed up with something else. In that regard though, is there honestly a MMORPG that doesn't have 3rd party programs invented by people to cheat or give them an upper hand? I'm sure if you looked through ownedcore there will be more information about that and more regarding the "bots" you mentioned. Though to be honest it won't surprise me if there were bots on FFXIV too.
  8. Still a very active PvPer and has been since BC. I won't deny it, WoD was the worst possible expansion released so far and this is quite easily summarized by a youtuber I follow Heelsvsbabyface. a4g-qh65Hn4 As for what I still love about the game, I think I still genuinely enjoy the PvP in WoW compared to any other MMO's PvP. PvP in FFXIV has never been my cup of tea. Introducing PvP only skills for all classes that can only be used in PvP situation still confuse the crap out of me haha. I'm not sure what to say other than comparing it to buying a Lv90 boost and wondering what all the new skills do and when to use it effectively. That and I feel like PvP is largely dominated by SMN. Imagine going against a Affliction Warlock who has Sprint on relatively short cooldown and it doesn't use any resources compared to melee who requires TP for their abilities. Now imagine there are a whole group of them on the other team and you play a melee... it's a daunting task to even begin imagining about. Oh and did I mention as a player who is playing from NZ my average ping is sitting at 450~600ms? PvP is just beyond something I can enjoy. But even if my ping was good, I have to wonder if I would enjoy it. Considering those nodes pop up very randomly and trying to organize pugs to fight for a common goal aka the objective seems harder than trying to organize relatively smaller group of pugs to do objectives on WoW,.... It's a real mess lol. I'm also not sure how other Ninjas use Stealth "Practically" in pvp. Movement speed is so slow that trying to catch a fleeing enemy is near impossible while stealthed. In every way I'm thoroughly enjoying my Rogue's playstyle more than I do as a Ninja on FFXIV which feels clunky... until I meet a geared feral druid in arenas lol. Every game has it's faults and as far as PvP goes I think WoW is still more enjoyable in that aspect, granted FFXIV was never really focused on PVP contents as much as PvE As for Legion? With the kind of crap Blizzard pulled for WoD? Haha I don't think so. They overhyped literally EVERYTHING about WoD and cut like 90% content they've mentioned they'll be bringing to WoD. WoD turned out to be an Expansion that was "designed" to be a prologue for Legion, more or less what it was. Only thing they introduced in this expansion was a Selfie Cam... and several dozen recolors of the dire wolf mount and boar mounts. Oh and lest I forget store only mounts lol... Legion may look somewhat promising but there's no guarantee they won't pull the same crap with Legion as they did with WoD. Who knows? They might not even introduce Demon Hunters and call it a early April Fools for all we know, which would be amusing and I honestly won't be surprised if they did.
  9. Does anyone genuinely enjoy Fishing and play the game to become the very best fisher with end game fishing gear? Personally Fishing has always been one thing where I couldn't get my motivations flowing whether it be on WoW or on FFXIV. For those of you who finds Fishing incredibly enjoyable then please share some insight as to why. As for what I would like to discuss about is how everyone feels about Fishing and how it could be improved? If it has room for improvement what would you change to make it more interesting? The following are some ideas I was juggling with when I was on my lunch break armed with a Pen and Scrap paper from the photocopy machine. It would be a 1 hour of Fishing Raid(or I'd personally call it a Voyage) which would be a weekly thing you can queue up for, twice a week if you get a premade going which would yield better rewards for a full premade. It would be a 24man raid of Fishers riding on top of a massive Airship big enough to fit 24 people. On this ship you can fish for winged fantasy fish which are highly exclusive for airfishing voyages. The air voyage can run into various random problems such as running into giant winged whale who wants to eat your ship and bumps into it in an attempt to throw players overboard (dead with a res timer of 5~10 minutes). They might be attacked by a band of loot hungry Sky Pirates who drops down onto the ship for some airbooty and you guys have to switch back to your respective raid classes to fend them off in waves while defending the Fishers. During airfishing you might be attacked by vicious Air Pirahanas that puts nasty ticking debuff on you where you lose 20% of your hp every 1 second and the only way to remove the debuff is by having healers top them up with overhealing. From time to time you'll also fish up a rare Flying Sahagin named Bob who comes aboard the ship and you can challenge him to a game of Triple Triad for a extremely rare card but he will take a challenge fee of X many Gil if you Lose. The content will also have a system similar to a rep grind (though not as insanely stupid like WoW) which eventually can gain you access to a new housing area called the Sky Dunes where you can build houses on floating islands.
  10. When I was little I remember looking at the pictures on the bible and used to strongly believed that Jesus was white.
  11. There is an amazing curry place that opened up next to where I live. Looking at this thread has re-awaken my hidden desires to go back there and take a photo of the giant curry fit for 5 Sultanas.
  12. It's your character and your rp. I think you should take pride in your creation and enjoy rping the unique character concept you've come up with. There will no doubt be people who looks at your ideas and think that it doesn't fit into the universe therefore they can choose to ignore your very existence and miss out on the opportunity to roleplay with you. That's completely up to them to belittle your ideas, don't let others hinder you from thinking outside the box. As LoL players would say, break the META lol. When they introduced the Valerian armor sets from the Level 60 dungeons I had a similar idea of raising a character that somehow made his/her way into Eorzea via the Chaos Gate. Idea that was short lived but I still think it would have been an interesting concept to work with. Yes haters are going to hate but again that's a choice they make and shouldn't be a factor to peer pressure you to think otherwise. Ogre Battle series was and still is my favorite RPG title to date and I'm in love with the lore they've introduced so far which is why I was thinking about the idea myself when the armor pieces made their way into Eorzea. Others might condemn you for having what they've decided to be a "bad idea" but it might be acceptable to others who enjoy roleplaying with you. Who knows? Maybe you can pioneer a linkshell for people who came from Vana'diel? Might be a good opportunity to start something new. If I was able to make a alt on Balmung I might have tried to experiment by creating a Linkshell for adventurers from Valeria and create a unique roleplay environment where they found themselves stranded in an alternate world. If the options presents itself I think there will be some who will flock over to try it. Just remember, you're not able to and never will be able to please anyone and everyone with the ideas you come up with so don't expect yourself as a miracle worker.
  13. Sorry, love. ;P There was a couple of fine Elezen gentlemen who aren't gay just on the page before: http://ffxiv-roleplayers.com/showthread.php?tid=14151&pid=228510#pid228510 DIDN'T I TELL YOU! Seriously. Straight Elezen are like unicorns. Reduced birthrate could explain the declining number of Elezen population. Miqo'te on the other hand...
  14. Makes me wonder if Super Smash Bros will one day include the Green Jesus of Orgrimmar as a playable character for the hell of it.
  15. I wish I raided during Vanilla or BC lol ;;; Don't need to. Roll a Ret Pally. That's one of the skins for their Artifact in Legion. Not the "Corrupted" one I think? Or unless they had it as one of the skins. But even then my main has and will always be a warrior. Unfortunately I really didn't like the random weapons they gave warriors. They sound "epic"ish but we could have gotten other more noteable weapons from existing lore =S
  16. Random Elezen saying a line often said by Otohime Mutsumi from Love Hina while wearing the Lazy Kitten headgear you can craft from Ragnarok Online, accompanied by a voidsent minion.
  17. I wish I raided during Vanilla or BC lol ;;;
  18. As someone who has to deal with these on daily basis when they malfunction I thought I'd personify it in my spare time.
  19. My character is a shadow, she is a flipping ninja. Therefore any information there is about her on public website would have been destroyed mysteriously and those who saw such documents floating around would have mysteriously been silenced. ....Which is why I have no need to upload nor update a template to begin with!
  20. Thanks Oli that definitely does sound like a very attractive offer. I'll definitely be on the lookout for Oliwat 7 hours later (When I'm back home after work).
  21. So after several scrapping and re-works I think I ended up with a character that I'm very happy to roleplay as. But before I begin introducing her, I just wanted to shout out to all the wonderful people I've met on the forums and in-game who contributed various ideas I most likely would never have come up with and it's thanks to everyone that I managed to get things in good order. So a bit about my character Yamato. She is a Doman Refugee who came to Ul'dah along with the other refugees that were introduced in past expansions led by Lady Yugiri. She has a bit of a history with Garlemald's military performing wicked deeds thinking it was the just thing to do but ended up realizing she was participating in unjustified slaughter. She failed to comply to orders to raze a village and instead assisted in helping the unknown villagers to safety. Faced with a Court Martial she escaped to Doma, her motherland and sought sanctuary by joining a religious order native to Doma. I won't elaborate on the religious order since this is a delicate subject as we know next to nothing about it. The way I envisioned it, it would resemble Shinto religion and she would be a Shrine Maiden that believes in the Dawn Father (aka Izanagi). I know that some people will disagree about this concept based on the fact that nothing of the such is established fact but let me explain it further down the track. She eventually took up a new name and became a Shrine Maiden (abandoning her Garlean name). During her years as a Miko she became acquainted with one of the head priests who was a former Ninja and during one of Garlemald's earlier skirmish on the outskirts of Doma, he saw her potential as a disciple when she fended off the scouts with a glaive. Seeing her as a promising disciple he chose to instruct her as he believed it would be best to increase the number of capable warriors at hand in the event Garlemald chose to increase their efforts in crushing Doma. She tried to defend her motherland when Garlemald attacked but due to Gekkai's betrayal (unknown to others at the time) their efforts had been for naught and Domans were forced to flee. She was among those who assisted in evacuation of the refugees and eventually came to Ul'dah on one of the ships led by Yugiri. Basically that's her story in a nutshell, I know I could have fleshed things out further but it's a brief overview. As for what she is doing currently. She is disguised as a curious foreign traveler. Her mission as a shinobi is to collect information about each country and its leaders as well as studying about the different country's commerce/trades and report this information back to (Yugiri? I'm wondering about this since while she is the leader of the Refugees I figured she would be reporting to Oboro since he's the leader of the ninjas) Now as for why I think it's somewhat alright to roleplay as a travelling Shrine Maiden who serves the god Dawn Father (Izanagi?) even though nothing of Doman religion is established facts. As a shinobi who specialize in information gathering and as someone who had to hide away her identity in order to survive from Garlemald's heretic examiners, I think she would be a naturally born liar. She is great at gathering various information and at the same time she is a talented weaver of lies who is great at giving out convincing information. Since not many are familiar with Doma or it's religion I think it's a great cover up disguise to have her tell stories about Doma and the religion of the Dawn Father (fictional stuff I fabricated based on Shinto religion). Now I have to strongly stress that everything she says about her religion is potentially lies (Since who knows Square Enix might end up using Shinto as base foundation of Doma's fictional religion if they choose to explore the idea more in future content) but at the same time it might also carry hints of truth. She is a Shrine Maiden by trade and in public she seems to specialize in religious rituals such as purification rituals, crafting various charms, Exorcism? (of monsters and voidsent with her ceremonial glaive/spear), and spreading various folklore and stories she's heard throughout her travels. She is a gifted muse and has great interest in literature, and loves telling stories built on theories past scholars have brought up. For General Roleplay: Yamato is generally open to walk up roleplays, she'll come off as a cheerful traveler eager to learn more about the land and has stories about culture, religion and customs native to Doma. In battle aside from being a shinobi which she tries to hide at all times, she is also able to wield her ceremonial glaive (Naginata, originally meant for religious practice)with good efficiency from her previous experience as a Imperial Hastatus (Lancer). In RPs inside dungeon environments she'll most likely be participating as a Lancer. It would be nice to meet roleplayers who have extensive knowledge about the lore, customs, cultures native to Eorzea since I'm looking forward to learning a lot more about those topics both ICly and OOCly but I'm also open to casual roleplays taking place in taverns and cities. For the past week or so I've assisted Raen who was born outside Doma to find the meaning of their name and transfer the meaning over to a Doman(Japanese/Kanji) name which held similar meanings. I've taught those interested in the Dawn Father (Izanagai) customs and ceremonies of the religion (aka Shinto) ICly and to some extent OOCly i guess. I've also been gathering more information about Ul'dah by talking with various people in Quicksand but would love to find characters who knows more about it's political structure and various military faction within Ul'dah. So if you're a sultansworn or brass blade and willing to roleplay let me know in this thread. I'm generally available from 6AM GMT or 9pm PST
  22. Cressidia is a librarian and chef from Ishgard who is travelling around the world to compile her own manuscripts of refreshing recipes mainly made from ingredients harvest from deep dungeon monsters that are generally regarded by the public as something unedible. I think knowing her appetite for strange unusual food would have her travelling with the pirates and endanger to various forms of dangers in an attempt to acquire monster body parts she feels might unexpectedly produce great flavors to add to her recipes. She has little to no morals and loves to cook with unorthodox methods. She also displays frightening interest in cooking Moogles and Heretic turned Dragons as well.
