  1. http://i.imgur.com/ycWWq0N.png[/img] Hello! Some of you might recognize me. I am Corin Winterborne, formerly of Balmung. I stopped playing a year ago after some drama with my ex-roommate. I've recently started up again...but moved to a different server to play with my friends. But, I miss roleplaying. I'm in the process of rebooting my character, and be willing to engage in skype or forum based RP. (Or in the off-chance that there are some Excalibuddies on here, in-game.) However, since I'm rebooting my character, that might involve changes with people I've previously roleplayed with. I'm open to discussion. Skype: nateisblue
  2. We are indeed! Feel free to fill out an app at our website: http://spectrumguard.enjin.com
  3. That's all right, if you come to our grand opening Saturday night (the details are on the forum), I'm sure we can find a way to squeeze you in.
  4. I don't agree with the "they can be re-summoned" excuse either.
  5. I think you may have to click Join the Website button before it will let you fill out the application.
  6. Oh hey! Yeah, when (IF -- *grumbles at servers*) I get on, I'll see if I can find you. If you can, I (Corin Winterborne) or Avenio Naemig can get you an invite!
  7. Sign up at the website and I can shoot you an invite: http://spectrumguard.enjin.com
  8. Woop woop! I'll take one of each please.
  9. I run a LGBT/Friendly Linkshell (possible FC). I sent you a PM, maybe we can work together to create a free company.
  10. Ah, John DiMaggio would be awesome. Bender, Jake (Adventure Time) Wakka, Kimahri...this would be so awesome.
  11. What'd I'd like to see is something akin to how Battlestar Galactica (the reimagined version) used All Along the Watchtowers. People know bits & pieces of the song, but no one knows the whole thing, until some big giant climatic scene.
  12. We're going to be having an OOC Linkshell meeting on Saturday over Skype. We'll be going over our plans for the future when the game launches. If you're interested in us, this would be a good chance to see what we're all about. It'll be Saturday at 3pm over a Skype Chat (no voice). If you want to check us out, give me a PM, and I'll add you to the list. Feel free to register and check out our forums at http://spectrumguard.enjin.com
  13. Hehe, though I wouldn't do that if you have the PS3 CE since that is presently sold out. Letting go of your order might result in actually losing it. Pretty glad I snuck in and got my CE when I could a few weeks ago! But yeah, look at the availability first before you do this! Though if you send in a nice e-mail to customer support, they'll give you the rebate, while saying you were ineligible for it. Amazon is pretty cool like that.
  14. The remade battle theme from FF2? I think my pants are a bit damp now.
  15. I wouldn't agree, no. The economy shouldn't even be a factor for bringing roleplayers together. That's the purpose of the RPC? So how does splitting the community meet those goals? And I'm not a legacy member. I'm starting fresh like all of the non-legacy characters. I don't want to play on a non-legacy server. I want to play with the majority of the role-players and have experienced players to RP and play the game with.
  16. I want you guys to think about this from the legacy members point of view for a moment. You have a character you built since the dawn of the game. You've built a community of dedicated role-players on this server. Now, SquareEnix closes down the game, because, frankly, it mechanically sucked. It completely rebuilt the game. It has a lot of buzz and new players coming into the game. But then, SquareEnix decided to institute a "legacy" system to reward the players for their dedication to the original game. They also listened to the new players, who feel intimidated by the experienced players. They want a "fresh start." So, a group of players wants to have a RP community on a non-legacy server so they can have this fresh start. But by doing that, they have to split the community into two factions, albeit unintended. The legacy members have no choice in this matter without losing their characters and hard work. Their characters are stuck on Balmung for at least 6 months, even if they wanted to leave. So is splitting and diluting the community worth it for these players "fresh start?" I really don't think it is. The role-playing community may seem large, and can support more then one server, but I really don't think it is. There are so many benefits to having us all under one roof, and only selfish reasons to support a "fresh start" for the other players. To respond specifically to the OP's request to stifle the debate about the splitting of the community, I'd have to wholeheartedly say no. I haven't seen any evidence of uncivil discourse or disrespect. We should be free to express our opinions (respectfully and civilly) that splitting the community is a bad idea. I think it's understandable that some members are upset about this idea. Unwittingly or not, people will be poaching members for the Gilgamesh community. Also, I'm not a legacy member. I have a level 3 thaumaturge I briefly played when the game came out. I will be starting out fresh on Balmung. I'll have a great community to help me grow as a character and as a player. I won't have to deal with low-supply, high demand prices on the new server. You're free to play on Gilgamesh. But I don't have to respect your choice, and I'm free to disagree with it, and be vocal with my disapproval of the community split. But I won't be uncivil or discourteous with you. I won't try to stifle debate, and I'd appreciate if you'd do the same. That is how I want to be treated.
  17. I think the big question is "What is magic?" From my understanding, magic is the manipulation of aether to cause an effect. I don't think there's enough information yet to know everything that aether can effect. Some examples are: your mage classes, aehteryte stones (teleportation), and synthesis. I also recall that the opening cutscenes mentions you feeling discomfort, after you wake up from your 'dream.' The merchant comments that "it's the aether." This seems to imply that Eorzea is rich in Aether, where other areas of Hydaelyn may not be. This may be why the Garleans have an ineptitude for magic: there's not enough aether for them to effectively manipulate.
  18. Something to realize is that this is a game. There are more then one way to play this game. RP is just one facet. In WoW, I've found myself RP-wise out of commission. But as one of our guild's healers, I was needed to do content. Sometimes RP would break out. My solution was to not play as my character. I would become Random NPC #1. I would create a sub-character that had a reason to be there, healing for my raid. Of course, this requires the acknowledgement of the people involved. So far, everyone I've met has been accommodating. If you are with an RP group, and want to do content, just talk with them beforehand. I'm sure they'd understand. And if they're not...well maybe these aren't the people you want to associate with.
  19. Why do you think you wouldn't get a fresh start on Balmung? Just because there's people from 1.0 on the server? What would a new server provide to you except less people to RP with (since the people who already have characters won't be able to leave) and server-first achievements (which there is no evidence of there actually being server-first achievements.) Your economy will be more expensive, as there will be low-supply, high demand for items. I just don't get it.
  20. Kind of suspicious that Momoni's account was created today, and the only topic's they've posted in is this one, with a combative attitude against the RPC settling on just one server...
  21. I found a pretty robe last night! I was growing despondent by the lack of decent looking cloth gear.
  22. I think it's like a big old Italian family, we argue and fight with each other because we love each other.
  23. 1. No one on this thread has asked for a name. To my knowledge that was the only thing that's ever been redacted or kept from the membership's general knowledge. I think the issue today was a result of the last parts of the log that was an accidental oversight due to the forum character limit. I'm just hoping people will put down their pitchforks and torches until something actually happens.
  24. This is my point. Right here. But this back-and-forth is getting us nowhere. Granted, I don't know all of the facts. You're correct on that one and I'll admit to it. Once again though, if people are asking for less transparency, why not give it to them? No names have to be released for obvious reasons, but why not just put whatever was going to be said when someone asked via PM into the log? People are making a mountain out of a molehill. The only reason that information is redacted was to avoid drama. There isn't a need for more transparency, because it's already transparent. There's no legitimate need to disclose specific names for these issues. Disclosing the names would only serve to shame or ostracize the parties involved, which is something I'd think we all want to steer clear of. These issues do need to be discussed at times, rarely, and outside of the immediate public view to avoid big dramastorms. I think during the next meeting, I'll try and start a discussion to get a definition of the scope of the LS leaders meeting, and a less nebulous guidelines on what should be redacted.
